Hp deskjet 2540 can't print pages together

hi i am unable to print pages together. i mean to say when i try to print a pdf file containing more than 1 page. printer just print the last page and shut down.
please help me out

Hello @arfgagan , welcome to the forums
I understand you are only able to print one page and the printer shuts down. This could be a hardware problem with the printer or perhaps an issue with the program you're printing from.
Try a power reset and ensure the printer is plugged in directly to the wall outlet, avoiding power bars and surge protectors. This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help greatly.
Press the Power button to turn on the product.
With the product turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Wait at least 15 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.
If the product does not turn on by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.
Afterwards, try printing from a couple different programs and let me know which programs you have tested and what the results were.
Also run the Print and Scan Doctor. This diagnostic tool will check for any conflicts that could be causing the issue. The tool will show you a report at the end. Send me a screen shot of the results.
Thank you,

  • Why my hp printer deskjet 2540 can not syncronize with my powerbook g4?

    hello gentlemen apple tech.
    happy new year 2014.
tried so many times to print documents from my powerbook g4 to my ph deskjet 2540.  even i did download the driver from HP but, still nothing. please, help and what to do about?

Hello to you too! For starters, we are not Apple employees or technicians but simply end users like you who like to help other Mac users. But you have come to the right place!
First, did the printer work properly with the PowerBook in the past?
Also, what version of the Mac OS is running on the PowerBook? That can make a difference in figuring this out.

  • HP Deskjet 2540 won't print in color.

I just recieved my HP Deskjet 2540 and I can not seem to print in color. I do have a MacBook Air. I am very lost and do not know where to exactly start to even attempt to try to troubleshoot it on my own. Please help!

    Hi,
For the beginning print a Self Test report and ensure the hardware prints black ink as expected:
Load clean, white U.S. Letter or A4 paper in the input tray, if necessary.
Touch and hold the Power button (), and then press the Cancel button ().
Let go of the Cancel button and then the Power button. The test page prints.
Check the estimated ink level graphics on the test page.
Figure : Example of estimated ink levels
Example of estimated ink levels with more ink
Example of estimated ink levels with less ink
If the page does not include black ink follow these steps to troubleshoot a such:
    http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03803074/
If the hardware produce black ink as expected we should focus on the Mac as following:
    1. Click the Apple icon and select Software Update, be sure to install any available HP or Apple update.
    2. Open System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, select the printer and click the minus button.
    3. Click the Plus button and re-ass the pritner, ensure the printer model is listed within the Use drop down and not any other option as AirPritn or Generic PCL driver, then try printing again.
As well be sure to try printing from any other application to ensure the issue not being with the application itself.
Please let me know of any progress,
    Shlomi

  • HP Deskjet 2540 won't print wireless when HP software is installed

I'm trying to set up my 2540 wirelessly on multiple PC's on my network. I can get it working on every one but my main PC (which is Windows 7 Pro). On the others I just "Add Network Printer" and used the windows drivers and didn't install the HP software, and it works fine. But on my main PC I want the scanner and ink levels and all that to work. As soon as I install the HP software and try to print it does nothing (in MS Office it gives the error "printer not ready") and shows 0 Documents pending in the tray.
It does print test pages from the HP Printer assistant, and the EWS, just not any regular windows programs
Print and scan doctor says it's fine. Turning off firewall is no help. Updated the newest driver from the website.
IP Address of printer is static, and ping works
    Ping statistics for 192.168.22.230:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 7ms, Maximum = 126ms, Average = 52ms
    Printing from mobile (android) works
Also scanning works just fine through the software
Not sure what else to try.
EDIT: now I can't get it to work at all, even after uninstalling the software and trying to Add Network Printer only

  • HP Deskjet 2540 will not print some documents, will print others

    Hello everybody,
yesterday I installed my new printer Deskjet 2540 wirelessly and tested it. All (scan and copy) worked well up to the point where I wanted to print a Pdf file. It did not so I started picking other documents.
Some pdf files print without a problem, other won't. Some docx files print, other won't. In Excel or Oulook I haven't been able to print anything. In Outlook I was able to print to pdf and then actually print that pdf.
After some close looking, it seems the printing jobs are sent to the spooling area, but deleted within 1 second without actually printing.
I have already tried to reinstall the latest drivers (version 12/12/2O13) and using the HP print and scan troubleshouting. This last one gave me the green light and printed the test page without a problem.
Hopefully anyone recognises this problem? Any solutions would be very welcome.
    Kind regards
    Tom

Hi there Tom, Thanks for your reply with your information, that helps out quite a bit!
First, download (can save right on your Desktop and use whenever you run into a printing or scanning problem) and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor which will search and fix common printing problems. This alone may resolve your issue. If the issue persists, continue on to these steps. Now, I would suggest installing Windows Updates, there will be "optional" ones there as well to install. If there are many updates to be done, this could take up some time.Install Windows Updates  If that doesn't seem to do the trick, I recommend a Level 3 uninstall (uninstall_l3) and reinstall of the printer software and driver. Here are the tools and steps to use.1. Uninstall - HP Officejet Software and Driver Removal Utility2. Restart your PC3. Reinstall - HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows Hopefully the issue will dissipate after the level 3 uninstall and reinstall. If not, here is a link to Adobe to troubleshoot PDF printing problems.Troubleshoot PDF printing | Acrobat, Reader  If you run into any other issues, please let me know. I will be out of the office for the weekend but will check up on this thread when I return! Good luck!

  • Deskjet 2540 6x4 photo printing not centreing image

I'm trying to print a photo in 6x4 size on this printer and every printer software we use seems to insert a huge border but only on one side of the page so the image is not centred. Any idea how we change this? Screen shot of the print preview below showing the wonky border spacing.
I've tried the pit to page tick box, I've tried editing the photo to insert a white border at the opposite side to the photo to try and move the image centrally but that didn't work and the border to the right remained the same size.
    Please help!

    Hi Jackettspud,
The HP Deskjet 2540 does not support borderless printing, its minimum bottom margins on Windows are 14.5 mm (0.57 inches).
(The bottom border appear to the right due the page orientation, this is actually the bottom margin of the print).
You will need to resize the image to include 14.5 mm on both of the sides.
That can be done using any basic editor such as Microsoft Paint.

  • Deskjet 2540 can't scan on OSX Yosemite

I am unable to get the Deskjet 2540 to scan in OSX Yosemite. It worked under Mavericks. Since upgrading OSX doesn't even seem able to recognize that the device is a scanner. I did a full uninstall and reinstall of the HP software. Printing works fine, as does making copies using the physical buttons on the device. Scanning options are greyed out in Preview et al., there is no scanner tab for the printer in System Preferences. Attempting to scan in the HP Scan utility results in the error "HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 2540 All-In-One is currently unavailable. Please check if it is turned on and connected, or try again later."

Hello @babelfish , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you're experiencing scan issues. I would like to try and assist.
I would suggest deleting the printer from your print system, using this document: Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once you have deleted it, I would suggest verifying and repairing the disk permissions: About Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions feature.
I would also suggest running your Apple updates:  OS X: Updating OS X and Mac App Store apps
After the updates, I would recommend reinstalling the HP Deskjet 2540 All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Drivers.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • Deskjet 2800 can't print 11x17 from tray 2 with windows 7

After my PC had windows 7 installed I can't print 11x17 from tray 2. The hp website driver download page doesn't list a windows 7 driver, it instructs me to use the in os driver but that driver will only print to 8.5x11. Is there a fix for this?
    Thanks, Jimmy

  • HP Deskjet D1520 (can't print)

First thanks for read my question. So my problem is that I can't print wireless from my Airport Express and the HP Deskjet D1520. I have th drives needed, Airport recognized it and I add it in the Print & Fax System Preference but when I try to print from TextEdit.app it starts to connect but it never connects. In the past I have print wireless from a Lexmark Z600
    Airport Express
    Version: 7.4.2

All I can suggest at this point is to check with HP to make sure you have the latest drivers available for your printer.
Not all printers are compatible with the USB port on the Express, especially lower priced printers which are often designed to only work if they are attached directly to a computer.

When I connect my Air to my HP Deskjet D4160, I can print in color. When I connect it to my Airport Express running the 6.3 software, it shows up fine in the printer tab, and I can add it correctly to my Air in the system prefs (it also finds the correct driver in 10.5.5), but when I print color it just comes out grayscale.
