HP Deskjet 3050A J611g - Won't Scan Over Wireless

Hi,
So I've setup the printer over wireless successfully, I can print from my laptop and iPad, and the print test works/gives me an IP.
However, every time I try to scan it initializes and fails after starting. I can scan over USB, but not wireless. This includes the diagnistic ulitility (green lights until it tries to scan and fails).
Any ideas on how to get this working?
Thanks!

Did you ever get an answer to this?  I have the same problem ...

HP Scan software doesn't boot up and work unless printer is hooked to pc via usb.  Can't seem to scan wirelessly.  Normal?

    Hi @juancgallardo ,
I see that you are experiencing issues scanning over the wireless network and hardwired network on Yosemite.
I would like to help you out with this issue today.
The drivers for Yosemite are installed by the Apple Updates.
Installing Your HP Printer Driver and Software for Mac OS X.
Did you add the printer as a Bonjour printer or IP Protocal?
IP Protocal won't allow you to scan, just print.
You can also download and install the HP Printer Drivers v3.0 for OS X.
If you are still having issues then check that the scanning ports on the router to make sure that they are open. You can contact the router company to check and open these ports 9220/9500/427 on the router.
If you still can't scan, connect the printer directly to the Mac with a USB cable and see if you can scan. Just to rule out a network issue.
What kind of router do you have?
Please provide in detail the results if you are still having issues.
    Have a nice day!
    Thank You.

    Hi dumbbell,
I understand that you cannot scan from your Officejet 4620 to your new Windows 8.1 laptop. I will try my best to help you with that.

  • Deskjet F4140 won't scan on wireless network

I have a deskjet F4140 connected to my home wireless network using a DLink DP301U wireless router. All computers on the network find the printer OK  and print properly, but we are unable to scan anything into any of the computers from the F4140. What research I've done tells me that the DP301U just does not have that capability. None of the routers I have found that list the All-in-One units that they will support show the F4140 as an approved unit. Can anyone tell me what wireless router will work with the F4140 and allow it to scan to the network as well as print? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
    John D

Thanks for the reply Doc. I've been finding that out with my own research. The few that claim to support the scanning functions also do not list my printer as one that will work with them. I have however discovered that there are at least a couple of wireless All-In-One printers that sell in about the same price range as any of the routers that claim to be able to do the job. Given the somewhat limited options, my wife seems to think she can live with having to hook her laptop direct to the printer when she needs to scan something, so for now I guess we will just live with the print only function. If it gets to be too big a hassle, we'll just replace the printer. The F4140 is not exactly a top of the line unit anyway, and we might just end up with something better in the process. Thanks again for your help.

  • Deskjet 3050A J611 cannot be contacted over network

    I'm running Windows 7 64 Bit.
My subject is the error message that is displayed after I run troubleshooting on my printer.
Printer worked fine over network for 6 months on my old laptop(Vista 32 bit). Now it will not print from either laptop.
Tried all manner of solutions I could find on these boards but have made no headway.
HP Print and scan doctor loops me back to the "select method you want to use to connect your product" after I select my printer and click "Next" on the screen that says "the following products are visible from your computer".
Printed off Wireless network test results and tried to create a static i.p. but my browser cannot find anything when I type the printer's i.p. into the address bar.
I hope someone out there has an answer.
I've invested too many hours into trying to solve this problem already and am about to take my printer out to a field and bash it with a baseball bat Office Space style. Then I'll give a Canon a try.

    Bump
So a Canon it is then?

  • HP 6520 won't scan with wireless connection and new router

My printer scanned fine before.  Got a new internet provider=new router and now I can't scan scan anymore.  The computer is connected wirelessly.  The computer says it cannot communicate with the scanner.  Same if I try from the printer front panel, it says it can't communicate with the computer.
The router seems like the obvious cuprit, but nothing in the router settings or manual suggest anything that could be blocking the scanner communications.  The router firewall is turned-off.
Printing works fine, and I can connect to the printer through its IP address.  The user interface can see the printer status, check ink levels, everything.  Everything works but scanning.  I've re-installed software multiple times, tried turning off firewalls and tried HP Scan and Print doctor.  It's not much help.
    I'm at wits end.

Hello @etcottle , and welcome to the HP Forums!
I see you are experiencing scan connectivity issues.  I would like to help!
I would recommend powering down your computer,  disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, and remove the power from your router for 60 seconds.
After 60 seconds, plug the router back in.  Once the router has begun broadcasting, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
After the printer is on, re-run the wireless setup.

I am able to print via wireless, but when i click HP Scan it gives me a "HP Envy 4500 Series was not found". I've run the Print and Scan doctor and it tells me I don't have the full version of SW and drivers and takes through the install. I have gone through the install several times along with restarting and I am in the same loop...any feedback?

  • Unable to connect wirelessly to new DSL modem - HP Deskjet 3050A - HELP!

I have a HP Deskjet 3050A J611g - I've had it a little more than a year (so out of warranty) and it has also been connected wirelessly to my HP laptop and other devices without any issues.  Last month I had to get a new DSL modem from AT&T (the brand is PACE and the model is 4111N).  Ever since getting the new modem my printer will not maintain a wireless connection.
I worked with AT&T tech support just after getting the modem and they were able to get me connected (they had remote access to my computer - uninstalled, reinstalled drivers, etc.) but within a few days I lost the wireless signal and cannot get it restored.  I have worked with AT&T tech support for more than 10 hours - several different reps - and still not working.  I have researched the issue myself, tried all of the troubleshooting steps provided by HP and others.  I'm at a loss.  My printer works if connected to my laptop with a usb cable but not wirelessly.
All my other devices are able to connect wirelessly to the modem, just not the printer.  I'm at my wits end!  What is left to try other than paying HP support for their assistance?

Access your router and make sure that MAC Filtering is turned off.  Also, set the encryption type to WPA2-PSK (AES) only as HP printers don't work well with the TKIP encryption type, and set the Mode to 802.11g only as that is the Mode that HP printers work best with.  Being on channel 11 shouldn't hurt anything unless there is a device that uses the same channel in the area then you might get some interference.  Give these things a shot, and let me know what happens.

  • HP Deskjet 3050A won't scan.

DJ 3050a 611G is brand new. It will print and copy but won't scan from either printer control panel or from HP software interface. I am not using the wireless feature. I am directly connected to my computer via USB port. I have updated my software and drivers. Still not luck. I have tried the HP diagnostics but can only get to the windows sectio and an error says it won't scan using (WIA). The diaganostics will allow me to skip this but then stops at the next section.
Original issue was that the "printer can't find computer"

  • My HP Deskjet 3050A won't let me print via my laptop!

I've had my printer quite a while now (about 3 years) it is a hp deskjet 3050A and has been set up with wireless. It prints off fine when I send something via Iphone, Ipod or Ipad over wifi, but when I try to send something via my laptop over the wifi (new toshiba with windows 8), it wont let me. How do I sort this problem out as I do not want to get a new printer. Why won't it let me print from my laptop?

OK so you have a new computer with Windows 8.  You did install the new software and drivers for Windows 8 right?  This always has to be done.
Download and install the full featured software and drivers from here.

  • Scanning problem with HP Deskjet 3050A - only scans about a quarter of the page

My HP Deskjet 3050A wirelessly prints just fine with my Mac Lion OS 10.7.3. But whenever I scan something, the resulting scan captures only about a quarter of the page, which is blown up in size to take up the entire page. (And I'm scanning regular 8"x11" documents.) And I can't zoom in to get the whole page. When I try to change the setting in Utility from jpg to pdf, to see if that will solve the problem, the Utility quits "unexpectedly" every time.

  • 3050A Scanner won't talk to my Mac OSX 10.6.8

I originally had the issue where the scanner was simply scanning a portion of the page (mentioned and solved in another thread here). However, my problem has now grown....
I was temporarily able to the scan images correctly by going through the Applications folders and clicking on the Scan 3 icon and directing the scan from this. However, now even this won't work and the scanner doesn't communicate at all with my Mac OSX 10.6.8 - I can't even get it to scan from the control panel on the product. The printer works fine - however I haven't acutally checked the printer again since doing the following:
I have uninstalled the software and reinstalled. I have checked for updates and it is indicating that I have updated software, yet when I click on HP Utility, I get the following error msg:
Some components installed on your computer were developed for another version of HP Utility. These components will not be loaded and some functionality related to your device will not be accessible. Please click HP Support item on the toolbar to visit HP Online Support site and download the latest versions of HP software.
I did this but I keep getting the msg that my software is up to date. So what now?
I have noticed that there are 2 scan icons in the Applications folder and one of them doesn't register the product at all when clicked. The Scan 3 icon used to work, but now just perpetually tries to open a connection with the printer and never can, when I try to cancel it it then goes into perpetual canceling mode and the only way I can shut it down is to Force Quit.
Any suggestions on how to remedy this before I throw my new HP 3050A off of the balcony

  • HP Officejet 6500A won't scan.

My HP Officejet 6500A Plus E710n (purchased late 2011) won't scan. Prints just fine. I have a MacBook Pro with OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63) purchased late 2011.
I haven't scanned anything in over a year. When I tried to scan a document a few days ago, the problem began. After researching the Apple and HP boards, I uninstalled the original HP software and installed HP's updated software/updates/drivers. I also installed Apple's HP updates, still won't scan. Keep getting the error message "Scanner reported an error. Failed to open a session on the device."
I also deleted/re-added the printer and rebooted the MacBook umpteen times.
I see that when I re-add the printer, it comes up as Bonjour Multifunction (see photo), yet there's no mention of Bonjour in my Activity Monitor.
I'm stumped! Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.
