HP Deskjet 3050A won't scan.

DJ 3050a 611G is brand new. It will print and copy but won't scan from either printer control panel or from HP software interface. I am not using the wireless feature. I am directly connected to my computer via USB port. I have updated my software and drivers. Still not luck. I have tried the HP diagnostics but can only get to the windows sectio and an error says it won't scan using (WIA). The diaganostics will allow me to skip this but then stops at the next section.
Original issue was that the "printer can't find computer"

  • My HP Deskjet 3050A won't let me print via my laptop!

I've had my printer quite a while now (about 3 years) it is a hp deskjet 3050A and has been set up with wireless. It prints off fine when I send something via Iphone, Ipod or Ipad over wifi, but when I try to send something via my laptop over the wifi (new toshiba with windows 8), it wont let me. How do I sort this problem out as I do not want to get a new printer. Why won't it let me print from my laptop?

OK so you have a new computer with Windows 8.  You did install the new software and drivers for Windows 8 right?  This always has to be done.
Download and install the full featured software and drivers from here.

  • Deskjet F4140 won't scan on wireless network

I have a deskjet F4140 connected to my home wireless network using a DLink DP301U wireless router. All computers on the network find the printer OK  and print properly, but we are unable to scan anything into any of the computers from the F4140. What research I've done tells me that the DP301U just does not have that capability. None of the routers I have found that list the All-in-One units that they will support show the F4140 as an approved unit. Can anyone tell me what wireless router will work with the F4140 and allow it to scan to the network as well as print? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
    John D
    Phoenix, AZ

Thanks for the reply Doc. I've been finding that out with my own research. The few that claim to support the scanning functions also do not list my printer as one that will work with them. I have however discovered that there are at least a couple of wireless All-In-One printers that sell in about the same price range as any of the routers that claim to be able to do the job. Given the somewhat limited options, my wife seems to think she can live with having to hook her laptop direct to the printer when she needs to scan something, so for now I guess we will just live with the print only function. If it gets to be too big a hassle, we'll just replace the printer. The F4140 is not exactly a top of the line unit anyway, and we might just end up with something better in the process. Thanks again for your help.

  • HP Deskjet F4480 won't scan

When I push scan, the yellow light blinks, then stops, no scan. I used to access Start Scan under Devices & Printers, but now that option has also ....just disappeared. HELP!!!

Sounds like everyone on this thread is having issues with scanning, now what I am going to first recommend is that we perform a refresh of the software by uninstalling it and reinstalling it. If that does not help, any further information from each of you would be appreciated (connection method, OS, error message, etc).
First if you use a USB cord, make sure to remove it (this is important). Do not plug it back in until the software directs you to. Then go through the Devices and Printers, Programs and Features and Device Manager folders and insure that all copies, files, and programs related to the printer are removed. Then as directed, restart the computer.
In the START menu type "%temp%" and press ENTER. Here I want you to press Ctrl+A and hit DELETE. Some of the files will not allow you to delete them, skip those files and delete the majority that allows it.

  • Scanning problem with HP Deskjet 3050A - only scans about a quarter of the page

My HP Deskjet 3050A wirelessly prints just fine with my Mac Lion OS 10.7.3. But whenever I scan something, the resulting scan captures only about a quarter of the page, which is blown up in size to take up the entire page. (And I'm scanning regular 8"x11" documents.) And I can't zoom in to get the whole page. When I try to change the setting in Utility from jpg to pdf, to see if that will solve the problem, the Utility quits "unexpectedly" every time.

    Hi,
First, install the Critical Update below:
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL41827/mp-101648-1/HP_Scan_for_Mac_OS_X_10.7_Update.dmg
Now change the device settings as following:
    1. Open the HP Utility and select your device.
    2. From Scan Settings open the "Scan to Computer".
    3. Click the "Scan Tasks" tab.
    4. Select the Scan Shortcut used to scan, then click Edit.
    5. In the section of Scan from an HP Device click on the blue triangle to enlarge the menu.
    6. From the enlarged menu now open the drop-down menu next to Crop To and set as None.
    7. Click OK and try scanning.

  • 3050A Deskjet all in one Scans in all purple

Help!! I have let this problem go for a whiole and I can't seem to find the answer. One day my scanner just started scanning everything with a purple haze. I have seen threads to attempt to fix other models from scanning in purple, but I don't have the same buttons and the solutions aren't working. I honesltly am not sure what changes i might have made a while back that would cause this to happen. I know that the scan light is purple when it starts to scan (hence the reason everything is coming through purple) and it should be white. I have no idea how to reset that to white. Anyone know?
    Windows 7
    64 bit
All drivers are up to date
Yes, it is plugged fdirectly into the wall
    Thank you!!!!

    Hello,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're receiving purple scan documents when using the Deskjet 3050A. I will do my best to assist you! Please make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector. I just want to verify if this makes a difference.
Follow this entire HP documet on Copy and Scan Outputs are Completely Black. I know you're not receiving black scans, but this document offers valid steps to try. Also, try making a blank copy using the scanner glass. If you're having the same problem, then please contact HP technical support for further assistance. Hi @josedemelo , and welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're experiencing print issues. I would like to help.
Are you able to make a copy without issue?
Are you connected via a USB cable or a wireless connection?
I would recommend performing a power reset on your printer.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I would then suggest downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • HP Deskjet 3050A wireless printing problem with Macbook Air

Hello, I have a HP Deskjet 3050A printer that I have been using with my MacBook Air (2012 OS X 10.8.3) until a few weeks ago when it seemed to hang when trying to print and then say no printer found (even though it showed and was selected in the Printer options). So after a few weeks of this I decided to to remedy this issue once and for all by deleting the printer and 'refinding' it.
However, upon 'refinding' printer by adding it through System Preferences no printer is found - I have updated all Macbook air software.
All this time I have been able to continue printing wirelessly using my iPhone 4S and have changed no settings to the iPhone or 3050A which leads me to believe the proble the problem may lie with the Macbook Air?
Can you help resolving this please? Thanks

What router are you using?  Have you restarted it by pulling its power plug momentarily?
If that does not work, download and install this: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907
    Restart your Mac.
    Finally, reset the printing system:
    - Go to System Preferences > Print & Scan
    - Right (or control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
    - Select the plus sign to re-add a printer. Select the Defualt tab on the top of the window. Look for the printer, select it and then next to the "Use" pulldown, select the printer model (not AirPrint). Wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.

  • Cannot get ipad to print to HP Deskjet 3050a since loading latest ISO. Any ideas, desperately need document!

Cannot print from my iPad, need the document now! Loaded latest iOS and it won't now print to HP Deskjet 3050a which has printed up til today! Help!

    Hello there, Pamayo54.
The following Knowledge Base article provides some troubleshooting steps for AirPrint issues:
    AirPrint Basics
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4356
    Particularly:
If you are unable to print, or if you see the message "No AirPrint Printers Found"
    Verify that the printer:
Has power and is turned on. If it has power, turn the printer off and then on again to see if that resolves the issue.
Is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the iOS device.
Has the latest firmware version installed.
Has paper with enough ink or toner installed.
Is free of any errors displayed on the printer's control panel.
If necessary, consult the printer documentation or contact the printer vendor for help with the above steps.Notes:
AirPrint printers connected to the USB port of the Apple AirPort Base Station or Time Capsules are not supported with AirPrint.
Some Wi-Fi AirPrint printers can take several minutes to join a Wi-Fi network after being turned on. Ensure that the AirPrint printer is connected to the Wi-Fi network before attempting to print.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

  • Accessing printer software for HP Deskjet 3050A J611 series with Windows 7

There is currently a problem with the HP Deskjet 3050A J611 series software on my computer.  It used to be when I clicked on my desktop icon (or launched this program from my start menu) I would see a list of option such as check ink levels, scan a picture, search for help, and so forth.  Now the screen shows only this:
    http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w82/RedComet01/HPscreen.jpg
Clicking on HP Printer Assistant does nothing.
My computer is a Dell Inspiron 620 with a Widows 7 Home Premium (64 bit, service pack 1) operating system.
Does anyone know what might be a solution to my problem?

Installing the latest full software package from HP should fix the problem of the buttons disappearing. These printers use the same basic software, and what I said is true for both. HP fixed the problem in version 28.8 of the software. I'll link it below for the 5514 and the 3050A.

  • HP Deskjet 3050A J611 series usb wired use

All I want it to do is connect by USB.  I do not want to use wireless.

    Hello @6106310,
I would like to assist you today with installing your HP Deskjet 3050A e-All-in-One Printer for a USB Cable connection on your Mac OS X 10.10 computer. Now just so you are aware, due to the age of your printer HP has not released a downloadable Full Feature Software and Driver package for your printer on the Mac OS X 10.10 Operating System. There hasn't been a Full Feature Driver package available since Mac OS X 10.8. Therefore, we are relying solely on your Apple Updates to install the HP Driver V3.0 package for your machine. I am going to walk you through some steps below to manually load the driver package and ensure it is correctly installed to resolve this issue. Can I please have you follow the steps below.
Step 1: Reset the Print System:
To start, I am going to have you Reset the Print System on your Mac. Please click here for instructions on how to perform the Reset. When the website opens follow the steps under 'Resetting the printing system in OS X Lion' as the steps are the same for Mac OS X 10.10. This Reset will remove every printer from your Mac. However, it does not uninstall the printers. Therefore, should you use other printers on this Mac, once the Reset is complete simply ensure that the printers are connected via a USB Cable or Network connected and (+) Add them back in. Do not add your HP Deskjet back in at this time.
Once the reset is complete, please proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Verify and Repair your Disk Permissions on the Mac:
Open Macintosh HD and go to Applications
    Go to the Utilities Folder
    Open the Disk Utility
Select the Hard Drive volume you are using (usually on the left)
    Select Verify Disk Permissions
Once that process is done, select Repair Disk Permissions
Step 3: Manually install Driver Package:
Please click here to manually download the Apple Update package for HP Printer Drivers v3.0. Once the website opens select the Download button at the top. Follow the onscreen instructions to install the driver package.
Step 4: Check for Apple Updates:
    Go to Apple
    Select System Preferences
    Select Software Update
    Click Update Now
    Install your available updates
    Restart your computer
    Step 5: Add the Device:
    1. Click the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences.
    2. Click Print & Scan, and then check if the name of your printer displays in the Printers list.
    3. Click the name of your printer, click the minus sign (), and then delete the printer.
    4. Click the plus sign (), click Add Printer or Scanner, click the name of your printer,
    5. Click the Use or Print Using box, and then select the name of your printer in the pop-up menu. Ensure that the Deskjet driver is selected.
    6. Click Add to add the printer to the list.

Now that your HP Deskjet is successfully installed please test printing through the USB Cable connection.

  • Unable to access Deskjet 3050A with Hp Envy M4

I am trying to connect my daughter's Envy M4 laptop to a Deskjet 3050A ePrinter. I have downloaded the ePrinter software recommended from the HP software Drivers and when the software stated installation was successful, I selected a recipe to print, but it did not print. I uninstalled/reinstalled the software and received the same result when trying to print another receipe. There were no further steps mentioned after the successful installation. Are further steps I should have taken, like a restart?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hello Blazer5,
I understand that you successfully installed the Deskjet 3050a, how ever it will not print recipes. Will it print an email, a .PDF, anything on the computer or from another web site?
There should be no other steps, once the software is installed it should print. Please try running the HP Print and Scan Dr on the computer having issues. Reply back with its results, example: all passed, if it fixed something(what it fixed), it was unable to resolve the problem, did the test page prints from it.
I will keep an eye out for your reply.
