HP Deskjet 3050A

With Windows 8 the high resolution printing is poor of quality compared to the printing with Windows XP. Who has a solution?

Hey @Jafo100 ,
Thank you for joining us on the HP Forums today, hope you enjoy your time with us!
I understand you may think that print quality and operating systems have a link to print quality but simply put, they have no correlation. I understand you think that your print quality is lesser on Windows 8 than on Windows XP; however, that is not the issue at hand.
You are probably printing a lower resolution photo on Windows 8 and therefore it is coming out looking worse. I recommend adjusting resolution rate when you are about to print under the "settings" button and try that, if not, try printing a higher resolution photo. If you are stretching photos to fit that will also deteriorate quality.
Hope this helps clarify things a bit. Have a wonderful weekend!

  • How can I setup a Deskjet 3050a/J611 to my Chromebox?

    HP Deskjet 3050a-J611.
    - Setup the printer, and once on, it printed the alignment page.
    - Went through the menu on the printer, but it has no option to print the "information sheet." All I could get it to print is the configuration sheet, which has no email listed.
    - Went to setup the eprinter in Google Chrome browser settings, but it just links me to the HP site.
    - No instructions on how to use this printer with a Chromebox/Chromebook in the manual. HP offers Linux drivers, but never on their CDs, but the Chromebox doesn't do CDs, of course. And wow, is that print is really small to my 50-year old eyes.
    - Says it is connected wirelessly and the printout confirms that, although I also have the USB cord connected to the Chromebox.
    - Google offers no support, just pushes me to the HP website, which asked me to sign in using my "new eprint email."
    What do? Thanks!
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

The issue is that this printer is set up via USB, or something called auto wireless. The autowireless configuration requires a windows or mac computer to connect.
The alternative is the WPS setup method, if your router supports it you go to the wireless menu on the printer, there should be a WPS option, and then when you have pressed ok on that push thr button on the router. This will link the two devices together, and the printer will have a full connnection.
There is another alternative but it can be hit or miss.
In the wireless menu of the printer there should be an option to restore the defaults, select that.
Next on your chromebox if you look at the available networks you should see a network for your printer, likely labelled something like HP-print-3050a, connect to that.
In your web browsers adress bar type in 192.168.223.1 - it should load up a webpage for the printer.
In there you should be abl to go to network at the top, then wireless on the left, then there should be a wireless wizard to put in your home network name and password.
After this you should be able to get the info page by enabling web services, and then use google cloud print for printing from the chrome box.

  • My HP Deskjet 3050A won't let me print via my laptop!

I've had my printer quite a while now (about 3 years) it is a hp deskjet 3050A and has been set up with wireless. It prints off fine when I send something via Iphone, Ipod or Ipad over wifi, but when I try to send something via my laptop over the wifi (new toshiba with windows 8), it wont let me. How do I sort this problem out as I do not want to get a new printer. Why won't it let me print from my laptop?

OK so you have a new computer with Windows 8.  You did install the new software and drivers for Windows 8 right?  This always has to be done.
Download and install the full featured software and drivers from here.

  • HP Deskjet 3050A All-in-One J611 Series - getting exact driver to download

I need to download a driver for my (per printer label) "HP Deskjet 3050A All-in-One J611 Series" -- but at hp.com, see listed only J611-Series models with postfixed abc letters "a" to "k" ... and one w/o a postfixed abc letter, but that lacks "J611" in its model name.
Also, my printer label does not prefix "e-" to the printer name.
Would the driver for  "J611-a" work with my printer?
Or the driver for "HP Deskjet 3050A All-in-One" that lacks "J611"?
    Thank you.

Hi @josedemelo , and welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're experiencing print issues. I would like to help.
Are you able to make a copy without issue?
Are you connected via a USB cable or a wireless connection?
I would recommend performing a power reset on your printer.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I would then suggest downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • HP Deskjet 3050A ALL-IN-ONE J611 series ---- mac filtering problem

i have a HP Deskjet 3050A ALL-IN-ONE J611 and i cannot get my printer to connect wireless. Everytime I try to connect it it always tells me an error. The error says:
Issue: MAC address filtering may be enabled on your wireless router.
Solution: If MAC address filtering is enabled on your router you should disable it.
The thing is i checked my router to make sure the MAC filtering was not enabled and it wasn't. So why does my printer keep telling me this? if i can get passed this problem i think it would connect. The MAC address is already stored in the router.

  • Scanning problem with HP Deskjet 3050A - only scans about a quarter of the page

My HP Deskjet 3050A wirelessly prints just fine with my Mac Lion OS 10.7.3. But whenever I scan something, the resulting scan captures only about a quarter of the page, which is blown up in size to take up the entire page. (And I'm scanning regular 8"x11" documents.) And I can't zoom in to get the whole page. When I try to change the setting in Utility from jpg to pdf, to see if that will solve the problem, the Utility quits "unexpectedly" every time.

    Hi,
First, install the Critical Update below:
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL41827/mp-101648-1/HP_Scan_for_Mac_OS_X_10.7_Update.dmg
Now change the device settings as following:
    1. Open the HP Utility and select your device.
    2. From Scan Settings open the "Scan to Computer".
    3. Click the "Scan Tasks" tab.
    4. Select the Scan Shortcut used to scan, then click Edit.
    5. In the section of Scan from an HP Device click on the blue triangle to enlarge the menu.
    6. From the enlarged menu now open the drop-down menu next to Crop To and set as None.
    7. Click OK and try scanning.

  • HP Deskjet 3050A wireless printing problem with Macbook Air

Hello, I have a HP Deskjet 3050A printer that I have been using with my MacBook Air (2012 OS X 10.8.3) until a few weeks ago when it seemed to hang when trying to print and then say no printer found (even though it showed and was selected in the Printer options). So after a few weeks of this I decided to to remedy this issue once and for all by deleting the printer and 'refinding' it.
However, upon 'refinding' printer by adding it through System Preferences no printer is found - I have updated all Macbook air software.
All this time I have been able to continue printing wirelessly using my iPhone 4S and have changed no settings to the iPhone or 3050A which leads me to believe the proble the problem may lie with the Macbook Air?
Can you help resolving this please? Thanks

What router are you using?  Have you restarted it by pulling its power plug momentarily?
If that does not work, download and install this: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907
    Restart your Mac.
    Finally, reset the printing system:
    - Go to System Preferences > Print & Scan
    - Right (or control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
    - Select the plus sign to re-add a printer. Select the Defualt tab on the top of the window. Look for the printer, select it and then next to the "Use" pulldown, select the printer model (not AirPrint). Wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.

  • How do I change my HP Deskjet 3050A All-In-One J611 Series to draft mode

How do I change my HP Deskjet 3050A All-In-One J611 Series to draft mode?  I have read some of the "solutions," but they don't make any sense to me.  I need simple instructions.  Thanks!

    Hi there!
Try these steps that I have posted below. This will change the settings for all print jobs, so you will need to go back in to these settings if you wish to change the quality back to normal, best, etc.
    Source
Once you are in the Printing Preferences window, you will see a Paper/Quality tab, click on it and you can change the Quality to Draft here.
That should work for you! Let me know if this helps

No copy!!  I went to the Print Status which showed the correct print job, but said the Printer was offline.  After deleting the job and trying to rint the copy again.  Same result.  I then went to the Mac System Preferences->Print&Fax and deleted /added the printer and and tried again to print.  Same result but , tihs time the printer status .showed Pause.  Clickng the Resume Button automatically  rehighlighted Pause.  I deleted the job again.  I checked ->Apple System Prefrences->Print&Fax and this time it showed Printer Ready.  I tried to print again and this time the HP staus Window showed the Print Paused.  Wht am I doing wrong, did I set up incorrectly or not understanding?  Any help would be appreciated

    Hello Drcoe2,
Thanks for the post. With this one, we may have a couple issues. Did you encounter any error messages when you first installed the printer? Are you getting any error messages on the printer? Check the below links, in order, the first deals with jobs stuck in queue, that would be the first thing to check, the second is related to wireless connection failing. Good Luck!

  • Unable to Set-Up ePrint for Deskjet 3050A

    Hi,
I'ved my HP Deskjet 3050A for some time, however I've recently set it up using Wi-Fi, which I find amazing! Furthermore, I wanted to set up the ePrint service, so that I'm able to print remotely from other devices I use. I followed the instructions through the HP website and couldn't seem to get past Step 1.
Step one asks me to asks me to register an account with ePrint, which I have done. However, it then asks me for a 'Printer Claim Code'. This is where I seem to hit brick wall. It asks me to print a 'Web services information sheet'. To do this I must click the ePrint button on my printer and select 'Print Info Page'. However, when I do this I'm shown an error which reads...
"The printer could not connect to the Internet. Check Internet connection."
I then tried various other ways by looking through this forum, however they all seems to lead to the same problem. I can print fine through my computer using Wi-Fi.
Can anyone offer any support on this?
    Printer: HP Deskjet 3050A
    OS: Windows 8.1
    Thanks,
    Chris.

    Hi Chris,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums.  I understand that when you are trying to enable the web services on your Deskjet 3050A printer that you are getting a connection error message.
Please start by setting a manual IP address and manual DNS servers for the printer.  I have included a link to another post with the steps, including screen shots, on how to do this.  Don’t stress that the screen shots are for a Photosmart 7510 printer, the steps are the same.
Please let me know how it goes.

  • Where do i get my eprint printer code on the deskjet 3050a?

So long story short, I moved and now I cannot get my printer to work at all.  I think I finally got it back online, but I had removed it from my hpeprint.com account so now I need to re-add it but cannot find the code.  I have the Deskjet 3050a.  I'm worried about internet connectivity because I hit the eprint button and went to "print information page" hoping the code was on that, and all it does is say "downloading page" and then it never prints.

These steps typically resolve the issue:
    1. Press the ePrint button on the printer's front-panel screen, then press "Print Info Page".
    2. Head over to the ePrintCenter website (http://www.eprintcenter.com/), and log in (or sign up for a new account if you don't have one).
    3. Click the "+Add Printer" button and enter the printer code from the ePrint info page (“Print Report” page from step 1). Create a customized ePrint email address.
If that does not work and it never prints follow the steps below:
    1. Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
    2. Unplug the power cord from the back of your router (and modem, if separate from the router).
    3. Wait 20 seconds, then plug the router (and modem, if applicable) back in.
    4. Wait 30 seconds, then plug the printer back in and power it on.
    5. Press the ePrint button on the printer's front panel, and it should try to connect to Web Services again.
Those steps usually resolve the issue, but if it still occurs you can try setting static network info for the printer (which sometimes helps to stabilize the printer's ability to get outside of your network, to the internet):
    1.  Press the network icon at the top of the printer's screen and note the IP address.
    2.  Enter the IP address into the address bar of a web browser on a computer and press enter or click the browser's go button.
    3.  The printer status page should be opened.  Click on Network at the top.
    4.  Select Proxy Settings.
Note:  If you are prompted for a redirect, select OK.  If you receive a certificate warning, select the option that lets you continue anyway.
If you receive a Internal System Error, refresh the page until it loads the proxy settings.
    5.  Verify that all fields are blank.  If they are not, clear them and make sure the Proxy Server requires authentication is unchecked and click apply.  You should get a success message.
    6.  Click on IPv4 under the correct connection (wired or wireless) on the left.
Note:  If you only see IP Address Configuration and DNS Address Configuration with a yellow note, refresh the page until it loads completely.
    8.  Leave the IP Address Configuration as Automatic IP.
    9.  Change DNS Address Configuration to Manual DNS server.
    10.  Enter 8.8.8.8 for the Manual Preferred DNS Server and 8.8.4.4 for the Manual Alternate DNS Server.
    11.  Click Apply and you should get a success message.
    12.  Power off the printer for 30 seconds and then turn it back on to force the new settings to take effect.
