HP Deskjet 3054 ISSUES with Maverick

Hi,
I'm having insane issues connecting my printer over a wireless network. My computer runs on OS X 10.9 Maverick and my printer is an HP Deskjet 3054. For some reason, I can't connect to it through wireless. It only works when I have a USB connecting my printer to my laptop. I've visited every page on this website and can't find an answer. There is no driver for it - I updated all my software and there was nothing related to HP. Please help!
Thanks.

Hi taliataline
I understand you are unable to setup the wireless connection.
Restore the printer defaults.
Go to the setup, wireless menu, defaults.
Then go back in and enable wireless.
Go to the setup, wireless menu, enable wireless.
Print out a configuration page.
Go to the setup, wireless menu, print report.
The ip address should be available. (starting with 169.)
Open a web browser. (safari, internet explorer)
Type in the ip address to configure the wireless.
Click on networking tab, wireless and fill out the information.
Apply.
On the mac now you can add the printer. (might have to select the airprint driver or Deskjet 3054)

Any fix for the PC based network printer communication issue with Mavericks?

I just signed up for FIOS and am not experiencing your problem (had enough other ones instead).
Go to mail preferences ~ click on a mail account ~ click on the advanced tab. The only settings that worked for me were: port 110 SSL OFF, authentication: Authenticated POP (APOP). If I remember correctly when I first set this up another window opened and I typed in my password and never had to do that again.
    Hope this helps.

  • Canon pixma mx922 compatibility issues with Mavericks?

Thinking of getting canon pixma mx922. Any body had compatibility issues with Mavericks?

Go to http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669 for a list of printers that are still supported.
If you don't see the printer, check Printer software no longer available through Software Update.

  • Scanning Issue with Maverick and Office Jet Pro 8600

Just wanted to add my voice to the numerous problem reports.  Specifically:
    1)  I could scan just fine until I upgraded to Maverick (Mac OS 10.9)
    2)  to address the problem, I downloaded the latest HP drivers for 10.9-didn't help
    3)  Tried to use the separate HP Scan application-no luck; couldn't fine the computer (even though I have been printing regularly)
    4)  Based on the HP problem solution posting (which seems a bit out of date), tried to uninstall the software and reinstall; the uninstall would not complete, although it did delete all of my printers.
It appears that it is finally time to abandon HP for printers, if they can't keep up with Apple's releases.

    Hi amaltz,
I understand you are having an issue with the scan software working with Mavericks. I can't help you with this. My suggestion is to completely remove all HP software from the computer and reinstall. Follow the instructions below to resolve the issue.
    Scrub
Open the Applications folder > HP or Hewlett Packard folder > HP Uninstaller
Click continue, click on one of the printers in the list.
Hold down Control, Option and Command
While holding the three buttons down, Click uninstall.
    Reset Printing System
Click the Apple icon (     ), and then click  System Preferences.
In the Hardware section, click Print & Fax/Scan. The Print & Fax/Scan  dialog box opens.
Right-click (or Ctrl +click) in the left panel, and then click Reset printing system…
Click OK to confirm the reset.
Type the correct Name  and Password.
Click OK to reset the printing system. The Print & Fax dialog box shows no printer selected
Note: This will remove all printers in the print and Fax/Scan, any printer removed can be re-added later by clicking the plus (+) symbol.
Repair Disk Permissions (I know many of you have done this but because we have now done a scrub it is good measure to ensure non of your permissions differ)
On the Dock, click Applications, and then click Utilities.
    Double-click Disk Utility.
Highlight your hard drive/partition on the left (by default this is "Macintosh HD").
Click the Repair Disk Permissions button at the bottom of the window.
Once the repair is complete, restart the computer.
    Restart the computer.
Now you will have a fresh start and be able to reinstall the software. Please let me know if this resolves the issue you are experiencing. If it does not, I will gladly follow up.
Please click the Thumbs up icon below to thank me for responding.

  • Are there any compatibility issues with Mavericks and EMC Celerra File shares, particularly with the SMB protocols?

Our company uses a EMC Celerra file share, but most of our users are Windows based. We have a small production department of 7 macs. Starting with Snow Leopard, we noticed some issues with SMB. We were able to resolve those issues, but had to wait to upgrade to Lion because there were additional SMB or permissions concerns with the Celerra file share and Lion. Now, we are again waiting to upgrade to Mavricks because of the way it handles user permissions. Does anyone using Mavericks now also connect to a EMC Celerra file share? Thanks!

  • Adobe Premiere Pro Issues with Maverick

Hello Apple friends, photographers, and video editors
Since I installed Maverick, I have the following issues with Adobe Premiere Pro CS6:
Why in **** did I update before waiting 6 months...
    - browser window flashes on then disapears when importing new files.
    - browser window sometimes shows all items gryed out when importing files.
    - cannot "Link Media" by example multiple TIFF and one EDL file for subtitles. 1st time menu quickly appears then disapears, then all is greyed out.
I have a mid 2012 Macbook PRo Retina with SSD @ 50% capacity. All else is extremely fast.
All my Adobe Master Collection CS6 is up to date.

Suggest you post on the Adobe forums since it's their software you're having issues with.

  • USB drive issues with Maverick

    Good day Apple friends,
Since I installed Maverick I have numerous issues with my Macbook Pro-Retina mid 2012.
When I connect my usual USB drives they don't react the first time. I always have to deconnect and immediately reconnect to make it work.
It is not a question of delay, it is a question of 1st or 2nd time. I basically go: connect, disconnect, reconnect and voilà!
It happens with many 2-4-8 GB USB sticks which were fine before Maverick. It does NOT happen with SD cards though.
    Why?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

  • Installation issues with mavericks

I have an early 2011 - 15" Macbook Pro which I have recently tried to upgrade to OS X 10.9 Mavericks. The installer grey's out the only hard drive on the system despite having 349.0 GB free on the drive. I have looked at the permissions, I have checked the format and even done the CMD + R on reboot but to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas? There appears to be no partition on the drive so I am stumped. Funnily enough my 2008 Mac Pro had no issue with the upgrade. Any thoughts or ideas welcome.

  • Software issues with Mavericks

Is Microsoft Office 2008, Adobe InDesign CS5.5 and Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 compatible with Mavericks???

Took a peek at that sight didn't look like it had information on all versions. Looks like it is sort of a "wikipedia" type honor sight. It had the two versions before and after my Photoshop listed as okay, but no information for my version. Googled it and it looks like I'm good to go. Just thought this resorce would be quicker and easier. Sort of worried about my scanner, so might hold off on updating for now.

  • Applescript Issue with Mavericks: Security?

Hi - I'm having an Applescript Problem with Mavericks:
For years, I've been running EyeTV on my mac. After recording a TV show, EyeTV calls a script called "RecordingDone.scpt".
I've modified this script to do what I need it to do. It's automatically run by EyeTV (using a process called "TriggeredScriptBridge", which I can observe via Activity Monitor). I can also execute the script directly from the Finder, as an Applescript app, and also by running the script via Applescript Editor.
Prior to Mavericks, both EyeTV and manual execution of the script ran correctly.
With Mavericks, running the script executes correctly when run manually. But whenever EyeTV executes the script, it fails. The failure occurs when the script tries to create a new folder or copy a file.
For example, this code runs correctly when initiated manually but fails when initiated by EyeTV:
if (exists folder fileLocation) is false then
      try
          make new folder at alias ExportLocationTV with properties {name:ParsTitle}
                my log_event("DEBUG:  Folder successfully created")
      on error
            my log_event("DEBUG:  couldn't make folder!")
      end try
      end if
Same thing with this code (manual execution works, not so when called by EyeTV):
    try
do shell script shellCommand -- do the copy
      my log_event("DEBUG:  copied successfully")
      on error
           my log_event("DEBUG:  failed to copy!")
      end try
My guess is that Mavericks isn't letting EyeTV call a script that writes to disk. Is that what's happening? If so, how do I make things work again? Or if I'm wrong with my guess, anybody have any idea what might be screwing up here?
    Thanks much....

If this application is from the App Store, it is running in a sandbox and needs to have the proper entitlements.
No, the app is not from the App Store. But perhaps the developers have incorporated sandboxed operation in a recent update? (I don't know much about sandboxing and its effects yet...)
I am guessing that since scripts are supported by the application that the developers have set the appropriate entitlement for that, but the user running the application will still need to authorize writing to a location outside of the sandbox.
Your script is not using a security-scoped bookmark or putting up a file dialog - how are you selecting the destination folder?
OK, some of this is new to me (e.g. security-scoped bookmark), so please bear with me if my responses don't make immediate sense.
The EyeTV app developers have put a few calls to external scripts that can be run when certain events occur within the app (for example, "RecordingStarted.scpt" and "RecordingDone.scpt"). The EyeTV app initiates a process named "TriggeredScriptBridge" that calls the scripts. These scripts are intended to be modified by users to perform tasks upon the TV recording created by EyeTV. They have always worked fine before Mavericks.
Under Mavericks, when the script is run via a call from the EyeTV app, the destination folder(s) are selected by hard-coded links I placed within the script. When I run the script manually, I present a Choose Folder dialog for more flexibility.
So, under Mavericks, do I need to do something different in my scripts to allow access to the disk to create folders, etc.? Or is this something that I can't do because it's the responsibility of the app itself (EyeTV)? Or am I not understanding what's going on here (the most likely scenario... )
