HP DESKJET 3522 KEEPS LOSING NETWORK SETTINGS

I have a HP Deskjet 3522, everytime i internet goes offline this stupid printer forgets its network settings and i have to run the hp dr program to reinstall the network settings to get it to work. This does not take a lot of time since i have it installed and waiting due to this happening frequently but why does it keep doing this? it is so frustrating to have to redo it over and over after a storm takes out my internet.

     - returned it.  Auto power off was disabled - 2 hours later lost network settings / connection.  It sucks !
Tried all possible means to connect.  It would stay for 2 hours, then lose it again.  less than a day and I returned it.  GARBAGE!

Thanks for the info. It appears that your Time-Warner router is serving a public IP address.
My suggestion is to use the D-Link wireless-router for your local LAN (connect the Time-Warner to the WAN input of the D-Link). If you're concerned about speed issues, you can connect your laptop into the LAN bridge of the D-Link.
If you're worried about speed, you can do a simple before and after experiment to see if the D-link is degrading your I/O throughput. I've used sites speedtest.net with good success in troubleshooting bandwidth issues.

  • Wireless phone keeps losing IP settings

I have a wirless 7920 wirless phone that keeps losing IP settings, on the front screen it says "Authentication OK" but when tries to get a IP address it fails. The Wlan controller is 4400 series model number 4402

Not sure if this will help, but people across the country are experiencing difficulties with the roll-out AT&T/SBCglobal/Comcast ISP. They used to pass Internet traffic through their lines like telephone calls, but now their routers have a number of global security measures. These routers now must be programmed for IP passthrough, which assigns devices their own ISP based on the device IP plus an additional ISP identity. In addition, the routers must be programmed to open the ports required for the specific services that the user wants to enable. They couldn't figure out if the higher security settings should be default, or not, so certain events trigger the higher security settings, like traffic from foreign network or an http request within another http request, etc.

  • Deskjet 3520 keeps losing connection to Mac

Last night, I installed an HP Deskjet 3520 printer to use with my desktop Mac (which is using OS Yosemite).  I have an etsy shop where I sell prints of my illustrations, so I often have to print out multiple files in a row.  When I installed the driver last night, I was able to wirelessly print the test page, but after that, I could not print wirelessly.  Instead, I used the USB connection, which worked fine.  I printed a round of prints and everything worked fine.
This morning, I need to do some more printing, and my Mac reported that there was no connection to the printer (even though the printer was connected via USB).  I deleted the printer from my Systems Preferences Printers and re-added it, and I was finally able to do my printing (still not wirelessly).
Now, tonight, I have tried to do more printing and the Mac reports that there is no connection to the printer, USB or wireless.  I tried deleting from Systems Preferences and re-adding again, but that didn't work this time.  Then, I tried resetting the printing system, uninstalling HP, and re-installing the driver.  Now, I'm at the part of the installer where the device needs to be configured and I am receiving the message:
Device Not Reachable.  The wireless network settings were successfully downloaded to your device.  However, your Mac was unable to locate the device on the network.
I don't know what keeps going wrong!  The little screen on my printer says it is connected to my wireless network AND I am still connected via USB so I don't know how the device would not be reachable.  I also don't know why the printer would keep losing connection with the computer every time I need to start printing again.  Please help!!

    Hi @tylertot
    This is in deed a little strange, but I'd like to help! Some of the steps I am going to offer are steps you have done, but I;d like to perform the following steps in the order presented to see what happens. Please give the following a try;
Leave the printer on and unplug the power cable, also unplug the USB cable. Restart teh Mac and then plug the printer power cable back in. You can also go ahead and reconnect the USB cable.
Reset Printing System  - (I know you did this already, thus you know how, but here are the steps for others who may view this thread)
Click the Apple icon (   ), and then click System Preferences.
In the Hardware section, click Print & Fax/Scan. The Print & Fax/Scan  dialog box opens.
Right-click (or  Ctrl  +click) in the left panel, and then click Reset printing system…
Click OK to confirm the reset.
Type the correct Name and Password.
Click OK to reset the printing system. The Print & Fax dialog box shows no printer selected
Note: This will remove all printers in the print and Fax/Scan, any printer removed can be re-added later by clicking the plus (+) symbol.
Repair Disk Permissions  - I don't see that you have tried this yet, and this step might be crucial to resolving the issue.
On the Dock, click Applications, and then click Utilities.
    Double-click Disk Utility.
Highlight your hard drive/partition on the left (by default this is "Macintosh HD").
Click the Repair Disk Permissions button at the bottom of the window.
Once the repair is complete, restart the computer and add the printer back.
When you add the printer, please ensure you are using the HP driver. You can add the wireless or the USB, or Both. If you ad both, I suggest adding a name to identify one connection from the other.
Select Add other Printer or Scanner
Select the printer you are adding and next to 'Use' you can the printer driver
You can see in the image above where the name section is, if you add both connection types simply add USB to the beginning of one of the names.
Adding both printers and naming them to help identify them helps when it comes time to print. When you print something you can choose the printer with the appropriate connection type. For example, you can choose the wireless driver ad if you get an offline message try printing again but choose the USB driver. If the USB one works you will know the issue is related to the Wireless connection, and if it doesn;t then the issue is related tot he operating system.  Really this is just a proactive troubleshooting attempt in case issue arise in the near future. If you only want to add one connection type that is okay too.
I look forward to hearing from you.

  • IMac keeps losing network connection

My iMac keeps losing the connection to my AirPort very sporadically, but very often. I keep having to open Network Assistant, choose the AirPort and the network, and re-enter the password. I then get a message that my network connection appears to be working correctly, which it then is. This could happen several times in a few hours.
I have tried creating a new network, but it still happens. We have 6 other devices on this network and do not have a problem with those devices.
    Any advice?

What am I looking for in the window that pops up?
here's a (very crude) screen shot of an iStumbler scan on my MBP
my network is called pegasus. see that it broadcasts on channel 11 (2.4 GHz band) ? see also that there are six other networks broadcasting on the same channel ? now, ideally i would change my channel to broadcast on "5" or "6", but since there are so many networks around, even those would give me interference from other networks nearby.
in the end, i decided to hardwire (using ethernet cables) most of my devices to my router (time capsule) in order to avoid interference alltogether.
also, there could be closed (hidden) networks around that only KisMac would be able to pick up.
lastly, as the read about *wireless interference* revealed, there are other sources that could interfere with your network performance: microwave ovens, cordless phones - heck, even enabling bluetooth on your very own Mac could be a source.
as an alternative to running ethernet cables throughout your place, you could consider *powerline adapters* _*such as these*_.

  • Firefox keeps losing toolbar settings

I have a big issue since upgrading to Firefox 4.
It keeps losing my icons and custom toolbars!
    It happens completely at random.
To get them back I have to restart in safe mode, tick the box "Reset
    toolbars and controls" and reopen.
Sometimes when I right click "Customise" is greyed out.
Any ideas - it is getting to the point where I will dump firefox!

    hi gurumukhi,
Thanks for the reply but I think you misunderstand the problem. I'm not asking how to set sync up again, I'm asking why Firefox keeps losing the sync settings in the first place. It often gets lost on all 3 of my computers so even your suggested solution doesn't always work and the only way out is to delete the account on Mozilla's website and set it up on all the computers from scratch.
I thought about this a bit more and it seems the one constant in causing FF to lose the sync information is that it happens soon after a FF version upgrade. This is recent as of about v22 or so - used to work perfectly before then.
If anyone knows of a solution that would be great.
    Thanks

  • Why do I have to keep Resetting Network Settings

    Hi All,
Hopefully someone can help. Every time I need to access emails when I'm out this iPhone fails me.  Today, I tried to access an email from a client which consisted of 2 words "That's fine".  The wheel thing spun round, and round, and round, and round....  6 minutes later it displayed "this has not been downloaded from the server".
I tried in vain to re-load but nothing. The only thing that seems to work is to "reset network settings".
This then means that my wifi settings at home now need re-inputting, as do the wi-fi settings  at 3 of my other workplaces.
If I could, I would swap this for a Samsung or something.  It's a constant source of frustration and embarrassment ( when I'm with clients)
I've had the **** thing replaced at the Apple store and I have phoned my mobile supplier t-mobile/EE ( don't get me started on them...) about 20 times and no-one can make this problem go away. I hate this iPhone.
    Can anyone here help me?
    Many thanks
    Granger

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

  • IPhoto 11 keeps losing network connection

Ever since OSX Lion and iPhoto 11, one annoyance is, when you first load iPhoto, everything is 100%.  Perfect.  Then you go on and work with something else and when you return to that iPhoto 11 space, click share, and all the network connections are grayed out. You cannot upload or eamil photos to anybody. The only way to reconnect is to quit iPhoto and start again.  This is non-productive behavior.  This is ridiculous. This defeats the whole purpose of having iPhoto.
Did I do something wrong?  Did I overlook some kind of settings?
Is there anyone else out there who experience the same thing?
Is there any Apple staff or inside people here who knows what is the fix?
    Please help.

No Apple developers here.  Only users like yourself.  Sounds like a damaged library.  Try this:  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos and check to see if the same problem persists.
If it doesn't then try the following to fix your primary library:  Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Keep losing network connection... I have to continually shut down then restart to get network connection.

We have 2 computers and Apple TV that will be connected to internet while my iPod loses its connection.  It seems to happen after it goes to sleep for a while like a half hour or so, haven't actually timed how long. But I won't get iMessage notifications. As long as I am actively checking my gmail or texting or searching internet I don't lose connection, just after it sits for awhile.
New(2 months old), 32GB (still have 15GB available), iOS 7.1.2, I only have one wifi network connection setup on it and have "ask to join networks" set to off

How do I make IOS 6 keep wifi on when iPod is sleeping?

  • Mac Mini keeps losing network connection

    Hey,
I have a Mac Mini 1.1 running 10.6.8, which I use as a headless media server at home. It connects to my BT Infinity 3 router via ethernet cable, and the Wifi is disabled. I connect to it remotely via dns through dyn.com. Other products sharing the network include 2 iPhones, an MBP and a windows laptop.
    The problem;
Every few days, the Mac Mini will dissapear from the network and cannot be reached either through the shared devices menu or through Remote Desktop. Only a hard reset of the Mac brings it back. Can anyone help me identify what's causing this problem?
    Thanks,
    Tim

This normally happens when your neighbor and you are using the same WiFi channel. Try changing the default channel in System Preferences -> Network.

  • Mac keeps losing network connection

I upgraded my Mac mini over the weekend to Yosemite. Upgrade went fine / no issues. However since the upgrade the Mac can no longer retain it;s IP address. It simply drops off the network.
It does this whether it's on Ethernet or wifi. I've trashed the com.apple.wifi plist's and that made no change.
This Mac never had any such issues when running Lion or Mavericks, does anyone have any idea how to resolve?

  • Keep losing network connection, especially after waking from sleep, but...

For a while now, my G5 would have intermittent problems not finding the network after it has been asleep for a bit. I used to resolve this by resetting the router, or sometimes putting the Mac back to sleep and resetting the router.
Lately, I discovered another fix: wake up my MacBook. The MacBook wakes up, connects wirelessly, and sees the network, and shortly thereafter, the G5 sees it too.
I cannot interpret this. Why would it be that the G5 would fail to see the router until after the MacBook is awake (and sees the router)? I never could figure out which component was at fault before, and this further confuses me. I mean, it seems that it has to be the G5, since if another computer can see the net on the same network, it would rule out the router and the cable modem. Right?
So what do I do about the G5, then? Yesterday, it was getting to the point where every time I woke up the G5, it wouldn't find the network (until after I woke up the MacBook).

    Hi, Brent:
I would not be too quick to start swapping things out (esp. expensive things!) without letting the discussion flow. I have never seen an answer that worked except updates and not all do... see below.
My Dual 2.5GHz G5 has been doing this on and off for years. It has been networked wirelessly since I got it and I am on my third router now for other reasons. I run two other Macs (G4 mini and early IMac/Intel) as well as two laptop PCs, all wireless. None of the other machines ever has this intermittent connectivity issue - just the G5. The symptom is a stalled browser (Safari or FireFox) with the wireless symbol almost always at four bars. Once in a while (like today), the bars will fade down to two for a while, but rarely. Absolutely the only temporary fix I have found successful is to switch airport on and off. Cure may hold for a while or it may not. Have noticed some apps using airport still seem to work (an old MacStumbler utility) even when Safari locks up. Thought it might be a Safari bug, but FireFox does the same thing.
IMHO, this is fundamentally related to a G5 software issue or interaction with the airport or network card. As I noted above, code evolution is a strong factor in my experience. My problems come and go tightly linked to software updates. It is usually a night-and-day change. I am at 10.4.11 on all Macs here; problem had not been around until I ran the last big update to 4.11. Interestingly, my daughter owns a very new iMac with Leopard and has seen the same type of behavior since Day One. I have also seen this problem mentioned about Leopard and iMacs in the lay press.
Wish I could offer a solution, but I am just waiting it out again.

  • Keep Losing wsconfig Settings

    Nightmare on RHEL5 x64 with Coldfusion 8.0.1 x64 and Apache 2.2.3.
CF8 installs fine and apache_connectors properly create the jrun module for Apache 2.2.3
Problem is when I try and restart coldfusion (service coldfusion_8 restart) we are getting this error in the httpd logs:
    [Tue Apr 21 14:14:28 2009] [notice] jrApache[4729: 37066]  127.0.0.1:51800 connect failed[12]: 111 111 Connection refused
    [Tue Apr 21 14:14:28 2009] [notice] jrApache[4729: 37066]  Couldn't initialize from remote server, JRun server(s) probably down.
From what I can tell the wsconfig settings simply disapear (/opt/coldfusion8/runtime/lib/wsconfig/1 was there but now completely gone).
When I try to rebuild the jrun modules for httpd, I always get "Could not connect to any JRun/Coldfusion servers on host localhost"
What's strange if I do a "ps aux | grep jrun" I see:
    nobody    5135  0.0  0.0   8364   704 ?        S    14:17   0:00 /opt/coldfusion8/runtime/bin/coldfusion8 -jar jrun.jar -autorestart -start coldfusion

    Any assistance would be appreciated!

A similar problem arose when Linux couldn't configure the connection. It needed the extra libraries httpd-develop, apr-develop and apr-util-develop. Install them and re-install Coldfusion.
