HP deskjet 4360 no longer under warranty; won't connect to mac os x

I just bought an HP Deskjet 4360 at an auction.  I've used the disk and downloaded each step as instructed.  When I try to add it as a printer to my Mac OS X 10.7.5, it stops me from adding to my list of printers.  It says the updates is no longer available since the Deskjet is out of warranty.  I tried contacting HP but, of course, waited 15 minutes to the most awful phone pitch ever the entire time.  Never got a csr.  Can anyone advise me.  The Macbook Pro was made in 2012.  The HP printer was made in 2007.

Hi leeprince,
Here is a link to the driver: Mac OSX 10.7 print drivers. There is a driver and an update here.

    You can do it yourself. I did on my 2009 Mini

  • No longer under warranty, how does pricing work?

    Seen as it's impossible to contact Apple directly regarding technical issues regarding MacBook, I'll have to ask here.
    Firstly, I know the issues with my MacBook are hardware related I've spent relentless hours trying to fix them with thousands of different software methods, so I don't need any advice with that.
    I brought my MacBook in the states, it's an early 2008 issue, so the keyboard and wrist-rest's have all discoloured and the housing is practically falling apart.
    One of the RAM slots has failed, so I'm running on a measly 500MB's of RAM, it's not the RAM that has the issue but the slot as I've tested both pieces of RAM in each slot.
    The DVD drive no longer burns, it's not a software issue as I've restored the OS, the error I get is the dreaded "Laser power level could not be calibrated for this media" I get this with standard CD-R's now and not just DVD-DL disc's, I've tried the 'language change voodoo' a PRAM reset, disc cleaning with little to no luck, I shouldn't have to do this EVERYTIME I wish to burn a disc.
    So basically, I want these three things fixed with the Mac, as I'm no longer under warranty I can understand that I will need to pay. Should I contact the nearest 'Premium Reseller' of Apple products? Will they charge more at the resellers than Apple will? Is it a standard one off payment to fix all three?
    Any help at all will be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

    You've called their tech support numbers? (44) 0844 209 0611 in the UK, 800-275-2273 in the US. I've never found them particularly difficult to reach, though depending on call volume you may have to wait on hold for a while. You can also go to any retail Apple Store in your area.
    should I contact the nearest 'Premium Reseller' of Apple products? Will they charge more at the resellers than Apple will?
    I'd suggest you shop around. There's no standard pricing, so you may find that repair pricing will vary between service centers. Repairs at an Apple Store are more likely to be higher than the price charged by an independent service center, but not always, so get estimates from a couple of places, at least, and decide from there. If you're in the US, you can look for service centers on this web page:
    http://www.apple.com/buy/locator/service/
    If you have to replace the logic board, the keyboard and the DVD drive, it's almost certainly going to be more cost-effective (and perhaps even less expensive, particularly if you go for a refurbished MacBook) to just buy a new computer.

  • Deskjet Advantage 3540 (Envy 4500): Computer won't connect with printer during software installation

    I just bought this printer and I am trying to install it by using the HP installation CD but I am running into difficulties to complete the process. The problem is that the computer won't connect with the printer (but my printer connects fine with my Wi-Fi network) and installation does not complete.
    The HP software installation process appears to go  normally (at least no error messages are shown) but when it gets to the part where it asks me how I would like to connect to the printer (Wireless or USB cable) I get an error message when I select Wireless Mode. My printer appears listed but as soon as I select it, a dialog is shown stating that "network installation could not be performed".
    Below are the dialogs and what happens (text is in portuguese but you get the idea)
    Dialog 1: selecting wireless connection mode
    Dialog 2: printer appears in list and I select it
    Dialog 3: Error message is shown, no further details
    Here are some more facts:
    (1) Printer connect fines with my Wi-Fi network: the connection details are correctly shown in its display (Wi-Fi SSID and IP 192.168.0.6) ;
    (2) If I go to a web browser in my computer and type in the IP address, I can access the printer's webpage fine;
    (3) I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling HP software;
    (4) I've resetted my router;
    (5) I've executed "HP Print and Scan Doctor" utility and it states my software hasn't been installed (which I don't understand) and it tries to download HP software and install one more time and I get to the error.
    (6) If I go to "Start" menu, I can see the HP group is empty (installation only creates icons on my desktop). See picture below:
    My OS is Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate (Service Pack 1)
    EDIT: I've just discovered the inkjet Advantage 3540 and Envy 4500 appear to be the same printer, each target to a different market.
    Help is much appreciated as I tried a lot of things to make this printer work wirelessly with my computer but without success.
    Thank you,
    Joao Pedro

  • IPhone 5 power button unresponsive, no longer under warranty.

    My iPhone 5 started losing responsiveness in the power button (sleep/wake button) about 6 months into owning it. I put off taking it to the Apple Store, as the closest Apple Store is 4 hours away. Now, after my warranty has expired, I have an unresponsive power (sleep/wake) button, and I don't know where to go from here. Is it possible to get it replaced for free as before? Or must I pay?
    Also, can I manually fix it? I have taken apart all other itterations of the iPhone, and replaced parts. If I can fix it manually, what must I replace?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

    if you diy that device apple will not touch it...if the device is oow they will not replace it for free..you must pay oow which is $249. and once again if you have altered that device in ANY kind of way it is no longer apples problem

  • HP C4280 Printer Just Stopped Working and Won't connect to Mac

    One day it just stopped letting me connect to it. Snow Leopard sees the printer in the list. I click the + button and it sees the printer. I click Add and it acts like it will add it. Then it goes back to the original screen and no printer.
    I downloaded HP software for it since I never did that originally. SL just used the builtin drivers. So I installed the HP driver and still nothing. I did open the HP Scan software, funny thing it actually let me scan something through that software but it won't let me print.
    What is up? It's way too hard to find any help on the HP Support site. It stinks.
    Please Help.

    I found this post in Apple Support About the Reset Printing System feature.
    This fixed my problem and now I am back to printer. Very nice!! Thank You Apple!

  • IPod Shuffle 2nd Gen Won't Connect to Mac

    I have recently re-vitalized an iPod shuffle thought dead due to being thru a wash-cycle in our washing machine. I was able to plug it up to our mac and let it charge up, but it won't show up on iTunes (of which, we have one of the newest editions).
    I tried "reseting" it and then plugging it back in. I tried turning it on while being plugged in (and off too). I also tried plugging it up to my windows machine, and it installed the driver and I could clearly browse the device and view the songs on it.
    So it clearly works and plays songs when I plug some earphones into it, but for some silly reason it won't load on iTunes 11.0.2 (on our iMac running OSX 10.6.8). Can anyone offer some assistance? Thank you!

    If you have other Apple devices, connect ONLY the shuffle, with iTunes running.
    If it's the only Apple device connected, and the shuffle is really not being recognized by iTunes, the heading DEVICES should not be in the iTunes sidebar at all (since iTunes sees no devices connected).  If you DO see DEVICES in the sidebar (with nothing listed below), the list of devices may be hidden.  When you move your mouse pointer over DEVICES in the sidebar, you should see a Show or Hide "toggle" to the right.  If that says Show, click it to show the list of devices.
    If that does not help, since your shuffle is 2nd gen and you use a Mac, you can try running the iPod Reset Utility

  • HT4796 Migration Assistant Issue - PC won't connect to Mac!!!

    I have followed all instructions on conducting a migration and have been trying to do this for well over 3 hours. I have the migration assistant open on both computers and the Mac migration assistant displays the code that needs to correspond with what is displayed on my PC. Unfortunately, on the PC, it just continues to display the "waiting for Mac to connect" message forever and nothing happens. I am trying to move files from my old PC to my new Macbook Pro.
    On my PC, the minute I plug in my ethernet cable it tries to connect and then it displays "limited or no connectivity". Its as though it is trying to connect to the internet, even though the wifi is up and functioning. I've clicked the "Repair" icon in the local area connection status and that tries to renew my IP address and ultimately fails to do that. I've tried creating other networks, rebooting, making my security ridiculously low allowing sharing of all files, etc.
    HELP!!!!

    Connect via Ethernet. That's much faster and more reliable than WIFI.
    If you still can't find the backups, try repairing them, per #A5 in [Time Machine - Troubleshooting|http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/Troubleshooting.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of the +Time Machine+ forum).

  • MacBook Pro (Mid 2010) - crashing problems remain after fixes under warranty, what can I do?

    Hey all,
    So I've had this computer (MacBook Pro 15" mid-2010 model) for a little over a year (bought it a few days after the refresh). Later in the year, it started to get regular crashes until it would become completely unresponsive to the point where turning it on meant I got several beeps (which apparently suggested the RAM was at fault). It was still under warranty, so I had it fixed (RAM replaced). The problems remained, so I returned to have it properly fixed. I went back and forth several times where it was said it had been fixed but actually wasn't. It got to the point where the whole logic board had to be replaced. Although now the keyboard backlight wasn't working, so had to go back and have that fixed as well.
    Here's the problem, the MacBook Pro is no longer under warranty. However, the same crashes have started up again. Though it hasn't quite reached the state it was in last year, it still crashes like it use to back then when the crashes first started and I'm afraid that it will eventually reach the state it was in last year. Since the problem is the same as when I originally went to have to MacBook Pro fixed (which was while it was still under warranty) and it took several fixes before it seemed like it was fixed, it could very well still have the same problem. So with that reasoning, am I still covered under warranty?
    Originally, I didn't think much of these crashes because all computers crash every now and again. But today when it crashed, it began beeping like it did last year when it wasn't working at all anymore. The crash in itself is totally random in relation to what I may be doing on the computer. The ways it crashes varies: random sudden shut down (not dead battery), a screen comes up suggesting I restart, screen completely freezes, screen goes weird with random color lines.
    Also, I don't always get a crash report but I kept one that I did get about two weeks ago after a crash. Perhaps someone technical can take a look and tell me where the problem is in this case?:

It has done this before, but today more times than before (just like when it first had this problem). Where-ever you go on the internet, it will tell you that the 3 beeps suggest the RAM is at fault. So, the same 3 beeps, means the same problem, which is the RAM.
    With that in mind, I re-ask my question with the same reasoning and justification; am I still covered under warranty? (Reasoning/Justification: Considering the original problem was not entirely fixed, though something else was to make the MacBook Pro last a little longer before the reoccurance of this problem).

  • My ipod touch 4th generation's audio jack is no longer making a connection with my headphones, i dont think my ipod is under warranty and therefor would i be able to pay apple to fix my ipod.

    If not under warranty,
    Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $199 for 64 GB 4G and $99 for the other 4Gs. They do not fix yours.
