HP Deskjet 5160

HI,
I am stuck! Windows 7,  Printer stopped working, so I uninstalled it, then reconnected my USB and now there is a printer "HP Deskjet 5100" but it does not work, AND it does not have the "Remove"  option in the right click menu, like the other printers do, in the right click menu exclamation mark next to "Troubleshoot" but Troubleshoot does not show up any problems.
Can not find ANYWHERE on the internet to download the printer driver, as all sites indicate the drivers are already present on Windows 7 machine and it should auto- install when I connect USB cable.
When I uninstalled the original HP Deskjet 5160 printer, I clicked a checkbox "delete printer files" so I guess that the files are no longer on my machine for the Printer Drivers to be auto-installed on connection of USB. But where can I download them?!!
The Printer (says it is a HP Deskjet 5160 but windows 7 seems to recognise it as a Deskjet 5100 - same thing??) is not installed/configured properly but I can't uninstall  or remove it and can't find a driver to download!
I'm stuck, please help!
Thanks,
Maggie.

Hi Maggie,
Let's try removing all the driver files from your PC and install them fresh. First download the full driver and run it.
Then do the rest below.
To remove all the driver files here's how to do it:
If you've tried to install the full driver previously, then you will be able to find the extracted files in your PC.
I believe it should be here:
- Open Windows Explorer -> C:\ drive -> Users -> (Your Name or Account) -> AppData -> Local -> Temp
- Under 'Temp' click on every folder until you find the folder containing the driver installation files. Should be able to spot it by finding
this file: "DJ_AIO_03_F4200_webreg"
Once you've found the folder, go to 'util' -> ccc. Now click on the file "Uninstall.bat"
The uninstall program will run and be able to remove all the files from your PC. Make sure this runs smoothly with no errors.
In the case that you do run into one, go back to the folder and run these files one after the other:
- Uninstall_L1.bat
- Uninstall_L2.bat
- Uninstall_L3.bat
- Uninstall_L4.bat
The program will reboot after each file. So bear with it.
Once this is all complete, try installing the full driver again.
Let me know how this goes. Fingers crossed!

  • HP Deskjet 5160 is now working... Part of the 5100 series

I was getting an error 'Error:-9672' as the system tried to install driver for my Deskjet.
    Resolution:Partly following instructions from
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&obje ctID=c00263384
Downloaded and installed the Universal Binary 3.3
Instead of following instructions in section 6, I went to System Preferences and opened the Print & Fax section and let Leopard choose the 3.3 drivers.
    All working now.

The SSID on the printer and computer were the exact same except for the last four numbers.  What I mean is that the computer gave me four extra numbers than what the printer was reading (I am not sure if it is due to downloading the wrong driver or not considering there were 2 different model choices for the 7410 when I chose my driver).  I have not used this printer before and am trying to see if I can get it connected...it's not new either.  I have already enabled the Officejet 7400 series under the imaging devices in my computer's device manager, yet still my printer can not detect my computer.

  • AIO Remote wont recognize my network printer deskjet 3050

AIO remote app (IOS) did not recognize my network printer (Deskjet 3050), other apps (printer pro lite) did recognize the printer flawlessly, both the printer and the iphone are in the same network, I can print from my PC and my mac but not from AIO remote app (not even recognize the printer).
    Can you help me?

    Hello MrCrysis,
With the Printer Pro Lite app working to printer, this is excellent to hear. Although this is not an HP app. So to explain as to why the AiO Remote app is not recognizing your printer, and not being able to scan. Your printer does not have AirPrint capabilities according to the 'HP Deskjet 3050 (J610) and 3050A (J611) All-in-One Printer Series Product Specifications'. AirPrint is a requirement for the HP AiO Remote app to work, and because the printer does not have AirPrint the app can not see the printer.

    Hi,
The HP AiO remote app only allow printing to a network connected printers, The Deskjet 1510 is a USB only printer and therefore it is not supported by the app

  • Airport Extreme Printing Problem with HP Deskjet.

Hello ... I wonder if any helpful folks can assist me with my printing problem? I am using Tiger on a new Intel imac with a HP Deskjet 960C. This printer is listed as having the latest drivers included within Tiger and works perfectly when connected via USB so my problem I guess is not with the software....I have disconnected everything and plugged everything back together again. I also deleted the printer from the printer list within the Printer Setup Utility application.... The imac recognisies the printer and upon pressing the print button everything feels as though its just going to work. The blue barber shop scroll appears but the printer fails to kick into gear and I get the big red exclamation mark appearing in the status box .... I would really love to try and sort this annoying error ... Any ideas? Thanks. Book G4   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

Hello jds17. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Unfortunately, not all USB printers are compatible with AirPort base stations.
Take a look at one of these iFelix Unofficial AirPort Printer Compatibility links, depending on which AirPort base station you have:
o 802.11g AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS) or AirPort Express Base Station (AX)
o 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn)
If your printer isn't listed, it doesn't necessarily mean it won't work, but simply that it has not been verified. iFelix also provides the following workaround for printers not on the list that would certainly be worth a try.
Also, you may find the following Apple article helpful.

  • Printing problem with HP deskjet 3050 all in one J610 series

I have a HP deskjet 3050 all in one J610 series which I am using with Windows Vista Version 6.0 (Build 6006: Service pack 2).  Connecting is by USB port.  I have not used the printer for some time, but have done all the maintence checks & it is good to go.  When I want to print a letter the only thing that gets printed is the email address which is coloured blue.  I think the problem is in the settings of the printer features.  I can print the letter in gray scale but this is not easy to read and not suitable for business dealings.
I would appreciate help with this problem.  A definition of the terms used in the printer features might help me resolve it by my self.
    Thanks

    Hello @Tellen,
Thank  you for visiting the HP Support Forums! I understand you are running into some print quality problems with your HP Deskjet 3050. I see when you attempt to print a letter you will only see the email address and its in blue ink.
First I would like you to click here to download and run the Print and Scan Doctor > www.hp.com/go/tools- It was designed by HP to provide users with the troubleshooting and problem solving features needed to resolve many common problems experienced with HP print and scan products connected to Windows-based computers.

If after the troubleshooting has been done and you are still seeing the issue leave me with the following information:
    1. What is your current Operating system, Windows or Mac and which version?
    2. How is the printer connected, USB or Wireless?
    3. If you print a test page from the front panel do you see the same issue?
I hope to hear from you soon.

I have an HP deskjet color printer that only prints in black and white from my mac ... how do I get it to print in color

Check the printer itself.  Some printers you need to set the color & B&W settings on the printer itself instead of the Mac.   If that is not the case w/your printer, contact HP tech support and/or post in their forums if they have one.

  • Windows 7 x64 can't read/install any printer drivers from Windows Server 2003 x64 (AMD64 folder and HP Deskjet 855c)

I read the thread Widows 7 printer
HP deskjet 855c driver about possible installation of HP855c drivers onto Windows 7 x64 from "Windows Server 2003 x64" CD but I didn't have enough luck to succeed with doing it on my laptop. That thread appears to be dead now
as it is marked "Answered", so I'm asking for help here. I have Toshiba Satellite P500 with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (http://i55.tinypic.com/2zgth6v.jpg).
Let me tell you first that I don't have access to Windows Server 2003 x64 or XP Pro 64 CD's. However I did some research online, which eventually forced me to learn about the "file sharing". After extensive search I was able to get the copies
of AMD64 folders from Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard x64 with SP2 and
XP Pro 64. The reason that I went also after XP Pro was because I thought that the extra wording "R2 Standard x64 with SP2" in description of "Windows Server 2003" did not reflect the exact name provided by poster
Alan. I couldn't find just "Windows Server 2003 x64" (does it matter?).
Anyway, I followed first the drill with running "printui /s /t2" and disabling UAC, and then in both cases I was able to locate the
NTPRINT.INF file (http://oi51.tinypic.com/9qwvt2.jpg - this image is from XP Pro AMD64 folder) but each time when I
attempted to install the driver, I got the same message stating:
"The folder you specified doesn't contain a compatible software drive for your device. If the folder contains the driver, make sure it's designed to work with Windows for x64-based systems." (http://oi53.tinypic.com/27yveiw.jpg)
    Why aren't there x64 drivers?
During several installation attempts I had the printer connected to or disconnected from my laptop. It didn't make any difference. I must add that for this purpose I had to use different cable than the original one designated only for the
Parallel port in my old desktop with Windows XP. My new laptop with Windows 7 x64 came only with 3 USB ports (plus 1 HDMI and 1 Serial). Because of that situation I bought in advance a new printer cable called “USB to 36-pin Parallel Port Adapter
Cable” (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003A8I75E). I'm not sure, if it will work until I can install the printer.
Besides, nobody talked about this issue yet. I was also playing with the port choices in "Add printer" step; changing from default LPT1 to USB001 with the same negative results.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I was very hopeful after reading positive "case closed" notes there.
Can anyone help me here, maybe by making the necessary files available for download? I'm willing to pay for such assistance or make a donation, if necessary. Seriously. Judging by the large number of views of the original
thread, one could assume that there is a potential demand for such service. It would be more human to pay few bucks for a few driver files than $900 for the whole Windows Server 2003 x64 CD, no? Can Microsoft accomodate me/us, please? :)

P.S. I was advised to come for help here from
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-hardware/windows-7-x64-cant-readinstall-any-printer-drivers/4e7d06e1-33a5-4597-be70-4fdc087a63a7?msgId=9a045994-0d31-4d40-b17d-dba372393ee4

I have my HP 855c/driver working on Win 7 Ultimate x64. I used the 'printui /s' procedure and 4 files described above with some minor changes.
I pulled WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB914961-SP2-x64-ENU.exe down from the Microsoft website. Running the file causes the exe to unpack into a temp folder at the root drive. A 'Setup Error' message box is displayed once the file is run. I left this
message box up until I copied ntprint.inf, ntprint.cat, and sp2.cab from the temp folder.
I copied driver.cab from a Windows XP Pro disc. I also needed amd64\stdnames.gpd which was already in my Windows 7 c:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\x64\3 folder.
I created a folder with the 5 files (ntprint.inf, ntprint.cat, sp2.cab, driver.cab, and amd64\stdnames.gpd). This is my 'Have Disc' folder.
I followed the 'printui /s' instructions, first changing the permissions mentioned above and then installing the driver. Next I followed the instructions to add a printer from Control Panel 'Devices and Printers' - 'Add Printer', choosing to 'use an existing
driver' when installing the HP 855c.
I used a slightly different ntprint.inf, size 1570418. The readable contents of ntprint.inf is as follows. Notice the line 'CatalogFile=ntprint.cat' is not included. I tried using the 1570468 version of ntprint.inf; when I did I received an incompatibility
message (probably the same one mentioned above).

  • Unable to print from my window vista 32 bit laptop to HP deskjet ink advantage 1515

I have window 32 bit vista system. I installed my new HP deskjet ink advantage 1515 , but I am not able to print. I tried install and uninstall many times, run HP Print and scan doctor. No problem reported in installation but failed to print.
    Pls help

Hello @HarpreetS , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you're running into print issues.  I would like to help.
Do you recieve any sort of error messages?
I would suggest Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once it is uninstalled, I would suggest putting your system into clean boot mode within the Microsoft configuration.  You can do so by following this document: How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
Once the computer is in clean boot mode, I would suggest reinstalling the HP Deskjet 1510 e-All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Drivers.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • HP Deskjet F4480 Unable to Scan in 10.6

After updating to 10.6, my Deskjet F4480 can no longer be used as a scanner. I have tried re-installing the full driver and software provided by HP, which claims to include updated support for 10.6; when I then try to use HP Scan, it tells me no scanner is found. When I completely uninstall the HP software and use the driver provided via Software Update, then try to scan through the Print & Fax panel in System Preferences (or via Preview) I get a failed to initiate session message. This is ridiculous. Does anyone have a fix for this problem?
    Thank you.

Thanks for the response, but I've tried updating the TWAIN driver and scanner driver with no luck. Since it works with every other program I've tried (except for Acrobat), I'm pretty sure it's an issue with the settings in Acrobat 6/7. I've also updated with all of the service packs as well.

    Hi Redbone7.
I understand you're looking for instructions on how to install your Deskjet printer now that you have a new hard drive. I'd be happy to help you with this!
In order to find you the right drivers though, I do need to know which model of Deskjet you have and if you're using Windows or Mac. Once I know those two pieces of information I will be able to post back with either a link to the drivers or a link on how best to install your printer.

  • Unable to install XP drivers for Deskjet 3650 on Windows 7

I have a HP Deskjet 3650 that is connected via USB to my main computer running Windows 7.  I can print without problems I am having problems sharing this printer with 2 other computers running Windows XP.  I have downloaded the drivers for XP and extracted them onto the Windows 7 computer.
On the properties of the HP Deskjet 3600 Series printer, I have clicked on the Sharing tab.
Share this Printer and Render print jobs on client computers are both checked.
When I click on Additional Drivers, only X64 is checked and says yes under installed.
The other two options (Itanium and x86) are both unchecked and say no under installed.
I tried checking x86 and clicking OK.  I'm then prompted to install print drivers and Browse to where the print drivers are located.  I browse to the 3600/enu/drivers/win2k_xp folder and see hpf3600k.inf   When I click Open, and select OK, I get a Selected Printer Driver Not Found Error  which says The specified location does not contain the driver hp deskjet 3600 series (LIDIL) for the requested processor architecture.
On one of the XP machines, I have installed the printer software and am only able to print if I physically plug the printer into it.
On the other XP machine, I have not installed the printer software but I have download and extracted the drivers.  When I click on the Add Printer Wizard and select the printer on the network, it tells me that I am about to connect to a printer on the Windows 7 computer and says that it will automatically install a print driver on my machine.  I click Yes to allow it to continue and it tells me that the server for the hp deskjet 3600 printer does not have the correct printer driver installed and that I can click OK  to search for the proper driver.  I click OK and browse to the folder that I extracted the drivers to and see that hpf3600k.inf is located in the folder and click OK and I get a Install Driver Error window that says Windows cannot locate a suitable printer driver.  Contact your administrator for help locating and installing a suitable driver.
So, it appears to me that the driver that I am downloading from the hp site for Windows XP is not the appropriate driver, am I wrong here?
How can I get this printer to work print on all 3 computers without having to move it from one to the other.  The printer has to be physically connected to the Windows 7 machine as the other 2 are in the kids' rooms.
    This question was solved.

Try the following: on the XP machine go to the Printers and Faxes folder, Add a Printer, Local Printer, Create a Port, Local Port, \\Computername\Printername (use the actual share name for the shared computer and printer), OK, then click on have disk and point at the directory where you have unzipped the XP driver.
On the XP machine you have already installed the driver do the following:  go to the Printer and Faxes directory, right click on the Deskjet 3650, select Properties, Ports, Add port, Local port, New Port, \\Computername\Printername (use the actual share name for the shared computer and printer), OK.
