  • HP Deskjet 5740 Color Inkjet Printer cutting off bottom half of letters when printing text

My Printer is cutting off the bottom half of letters when printing documents.  I have tried all the troubleshooting options given on the computer and have changed out the ink cartriges as well.  I am hoping SOMEONE might have a solution to share. Thanks in advance!!!

I have a user experiencing the same issue.  We have removed the drivers and reinstalled them but the problem persists.  Steps we have tried.... Completely uninstalled all the HP software and printer driversRebootedReinstalled drivers and printer softwareI have verified the printer has the latest firmware. It doesn't matter what program we are printing from, approximately the bottom 4th to 3rd of the photo is cut off.  I do have examples I can send that show the problem.   Our organization buys a lot of printers and it would suck to have to start ordering from a different vendor for future buys.  But if HP cannot fix this issue, we'll have to switch to another brand.  Since we cannot attach in here I have uploaded the examples.  The first is an XPS printout from a word 2013 document.  When it's printed it comes out as shown in the scan.pdf file.  (We printed it and then scanned the printout to a PDF).  It is pretty clear that the bottom of the picture is cut off. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks. Brian

  • Can I share my DeskJet 722C connected to a Windows XP Desktop with a 64 bit Windows 7 HP ProBook?

I was able to directly connect my HP DeskJet 722c with my new HP ProBook (S-series), running on 64-bit Windows 7, after following directions on this site.  But now I would like to permanently re-connect the DeskJet to my 32-bit Sony Desktop computer, running on Windows XP, and be able to share that printer on my wireless network with my HP ProBook laptop.  Can you help me?

This can be done by sharing the printer on the XP system and adding it to the Windows 7 system using a Windows Update driver.
The first part is to install and share the printer on the Windows XP system.
To share the printer on the XP system, follow the steps in this document from Microsoft.  I recommend using something simple for the printer share name as it will need to be entered on the Windows 7 system.
The next step is adding the printer to the Windows 7 computer.  Make sure to uninstall the printer from the Windows 7 computer before continuing.
    1.  Go to Start>Devices and Printers.
    2.  Click on Add a printer at the top.
    3.  While it is a networked printer, it is not the current network standard printer.  Select Add a local printer.
    4.  Select Create a new port with a local port for type.
    5.  Enter \\<host computer name>\<printer name> without the < > symbols.  The host computer name is the name of the computer that has the printer attached to it.  If you do not know that name, go to the host computer and go to Start>Right-click Computer (My Computer on XP)>Properties.  The computer name will be listed here.  The printer's share name was selected in a previous step in the Microsoft article.
    6.  Click Ok and the printer driver screen will appear.  Click on Windows Update to ensure it is the most current list.
    7.  Select the printer model from that list.
    8.  Follow the rest of the prompts.
At the end of these steps, the printer should be shared from the host computer to the other Windows 7 computers.
    Let me know what happens.

  • Connected Deskjet 6940 to computer with windows 7 64 bit, duplex print will not work?

I have a Deskjet 6940 model C8970A. The Duplex printer function does not work. It will manually ask me to turn around all the pages to print on the other side. Before it would print front then back of page at a time.  I have Windows 7 64 bit on the new computer.

    Hi,
The Duplex Unit is disabled by default, make sure to enable the accessory as following:
Enter Control Panel > Devices and Printers
Right click the HP Deskjet 6940 icon, then click Printer Properties.
    Select the Device Settings tab.
Set the Duplex Unit as Installed, click OK.
Now set Print On Both Sides as Automatically from the Printing Preferences Dialog.
Please let me know if you may still experience any issue,

  • Canon i9900 color inkjet printer. Photos are printing with colors wrong. Is there a driver that works?

I'm using a new MacBook Pro/Mavericks and a Canon i9900 color ink jet photo printer. The colors are printing all wrong, it almost looks like a negative. Printing directly from the Canon 6D photos print just fine. Is there a work around for this? Canon says it's Apple's driver that is the problem. I've tried printing from PhotoMatrix Pro, Photoshop CC, PhotoElements CC, Preview, and all kinds of software but nothing seems to work. Any suggestions out there?

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but a printer must be consuming a little electricity for it to sense and respond to a command to turn on and print. Therefore, I suggest you forget buying a new printer with this feature and simply leave the printer you already have on all the time.
    Just a thought!

  • HP Deskjet 6122 Driver Compatible with Windows 7 32-bit

I need to find out how to update the driver for my HP Deskjet 6122.  We upgraded to Windows 7 32-bit and the only instructions I can find show using a USB cable from the printer to the computer, and the HP Deskjet 6122 does not have a USB cable nor does it have anywhere to plub on in?  Is there another way?

It should work OK, since PSE is a 32-bit application, and Win7 can run applications in "Compatibility Mode" using the settings for earlier versions of Windows.

  • Color Laserjet 2600n Windows 7 -64 Bit Looking for HP Toolbox

    ‎01-09-2014 08:30 AM
I'm having trouble finding the HP Toolbox.    I have a Color Laserjet 2600n.   OS is Windows 7 - 64 Bit.  When I print checks, I notice a slight shadowing of the numbers.  Thinking it may need cleaned, but I cant find my toolbox anymore and have to tried to look online.  I saw something regarding there was no toolbox for Windows 7.  Is this still the case?  When I print on paper everything looks fine.  Also, anything I print that has red in it doesnt not print very well.  This has been a problem for several years.   I had XP until March 2013 and then got a new computer.  Before the computer switch I cleaned and aligned the printer several times, but still no red print.
    Thanks,
    pdl2

You should try the HP Universal Print Driver (UPD), which does list your device model as supported by the driver.  Go to www.hp.com/go/upd, hit the DOWNLOAD SOFTWARE.  Select a Windows 7 x64 OS, then I recommend trying the PostScript (PS) driver.  The installer will prompt a few questions-- select "Traditional Mode", provide your port information, etc, proceed.

  • OfficeJet Pro L7780 - Have to Restart Print Spooler every job I print (Windows 7 32-bit)

I have an OfficeJet Pro L7780 that shows as offline in Devices and Printers constantly.  I discovered if I queue up print jobs to it and then restart the print spooler all of the jobs will come out perfectly then the printer will instantly go offline.   Here is what I've done for troubleshooting already:
    Upgrade to newest firmware (R2011NxNxeN0)
Factory Reset by hold # and 3 at boot
    Changed Ink and Print Heads
Installed newest 14.0 driver (tried both Basic and IT Pro Driver)
Rebooted and restarted printer and computer
Tried all this on a 2nd Windows 7 computer with the same results
Anyone actually use this printer on Windows 7 32-bit over the wired network port!!?!
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Same printer, same problem, same remediation by restarting Printer Spooler service.  Only difference is OS is Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit.
FYI- I'm using my L7780 via a wifi connection using WPA2 security and a static IP and network RAW printing to port 9100.  The printer always appears available via network pings but not to the print spooler.  As such, printer is always "grayed out" and disabled but will accept jobs into its queue.
After endless searching this is what appears to be working as a fix:  Turn off SNMP on printer port.
Printer Properties -> Ports Tab -> (Select Port) -> Configure Port -> uncheck "SNMP Status Enabled"
Hopefully this works for others- but I also found mention that others found a fix in toggling other settings such as "Enable bidirection printing" check box.  Who knows what seemingly unrelated software triggers this issue but it began one strange day and drove me crazy.

  • F4280 wireless printing windows 7 64-bit, not showing printer in "devices and printers"

    Hi,
I am a little confused. Today I installed windows 7 64-bit on my acer 9423wsmi notebook. I installed my hp f4280 via a usb cable. It prints and scans. Now I try to install my wireless kit (came with the printer) which worked fine an vista 32-bit sp1. I looked up every driver etc. on hp.com and found the install guide for windows 7. Everything went as described and printing works even without the pc adapter. You might say what is the problem. Well I noticed the wireless (copy) isn't listed under "devices and printers". I found this a bit strange. I tried to install a printer via the windows wizard. But using the network option gives me the shared copy. And using a the usb02 virtual port to which the printer is connect yields the same result: a fully working printer but nowhere to be found in "devices and printers". I searched the internet for a solution but my search results get cluttered with support for the installation.
    My questions:
Is this normal on this system with these settings?
Is there a way to let the printer appear in "devices and printers"?
    Kind Regards
    Carnelain

    Hi Flash,
I still haven't fixed the problem. I assume you found this installation guide. If I follow this I still can't see the printer in "device and printers". But when I open a document (notepad, word) I can see the printer listed in the printer dialog. So I am able to print. Printer properties are a bit hard to reach but it works. I am still hoping some wizz kid from hp to come up with a solution . Keep me posted if you know something more.

  • PCL XL error, missing attributes of networking printing ( Windows 7 64 bit )

So here is the problem, proviously we were use win XP SP3 and all shared printer worked fine.Currently after migration to windows 7 64 bit this issue is appear. PCL XL error.
Below is two missing row for .prn file from not working state
    In a working state
@PJL JOB NAME = "application name"
    @PJL SET STRINGCODESET=UTF8
While in working state this row is available
What should we do for this issue ? We have use latest driver Universal DriverPCL 5 and PCL 6.

As I said before, the reported PCL XL error is nothing to do with any of the PJL commands (missing, or not).
The error is because a mandatory attribute is missing from the attribute list which precedes and quantifies the PCL XL BeginPage operator.
From the evidence you've supplied I can't properly analyse the PCL XL, but (I think) that I've reconstructed one small (but relevant) part of the stream, and here is an analysis of that part of the 'good' one:
    PCLXL Data Type 0xc0 ubyte
    Value 0x00 ePortraitOrientation
    PCLXL Attribute 0xf828 Orientation
    PCLXL Data Type 0xc0 ubyte
    Value 0x01 eAutoSelect
    PCLXL Attribute 0xf826 MediaSource
    PCLXL Data Type 0xc8c10500 ubyte_array
    Value 0x506c61.. "Plain"
    PCLXL Attribute 0xf827 MediaType
    PCLXL Data Type 0xc8c006 ubyte_array
    Value 0x4c4554.. "LETTER"
    PCLXL Attribute 0xf825 MediaSize
    PCLXL Operator 0x43 BeginPage
This corresponds to the text in your araxis report of:
    À\x0000ø(À\x0001ø&ÈÁ\x0005\x0000Plainø'ÈÀ\x0006LETTERø%C
Note that part of this sequence is missing from the 'bad' example:
The missing bit corresponds to the Orientation attribute and its preceding data.
The obvious conclusion is that the (PCL6) printer driver is at fault, but it's also perhaps possible that there is some fault in the interaction between the application (whatever that is) and the printer driver.
    You could:
Check to see if there is a later version of the PCL6 driver available for your platform.
Or use a PCL5 (or perhaps PostScript) printer driver, since these will not cause PCL XL errors to be generated (although they may of course give rise to other faults).

  • How do i get PCL5 support for P1606dn printer windows 7 64-bit

    how do i get PCL5 support for P1606dn printer windows 7 64-bit

The full solution, off the product page, is the recommended solution for this product. It works for most windows applications and installed by default.
The PCL 5 UPD driver only works for the 1606 models and is recommeneded for general office printing and 3rd party or custom software programs.
The XPS print driver (off the prodcut page) is recommened for capturing and printing exactly what is on the screen.
When you install the UPD driver, I would recommend that your install it in the traditional mode instead of the dynamic mode. Just my preference. This way you don't have to wait for it to search for the printer everytime you want to print.

  • Windows Vista 32 bit and also 64 bit driver available for my HP-deskjet 5650 color inkjet ?

I have an HP-deskjet 5650 printer connected to my desktop pc that is running Windows XP and it prints fine. I have 2-other laptops on same network with Vista-32 bit on one and the newest laptop has Vista-64 bit. When I set up the network print connection by putting in the computer name and then the printer name it says a driver is missing on the server pc,which is actually the XP-desktop. Back on the desktop I made sure the printer was shared for the network. Then it also stated that if I was trying to print from a pc with a different O/S then you must add newer drivers which would have to be Vista. After checking,I dont think any are available for the deskjet-5650. Does anyone have an answer?

    HI,
The work around that appears to work is to choose the Deskjet 990 driver from the list of printers supplied in the Windows Vista operating system.
    Install the driver
Install the compatible print driver on the computer.
Make sure that the USB cable is not connected to the HP product.
From the Windows taskbar, click the Windows icon (), type control printers in the Start Search box, and then press Enter . The Printers window appears.
Click Add a printer and then click Add a local printer .
Click the Use an existing port check box.
In the Use an existing port drop-down list, select LPT1: (Printer Port) and then click Next .
Under Manufacturer on the Install the printer driver dialog box, select HP .
Under Printers , select the Deskjet 990 and then click Next .
In the Printer name text box, type the HP product name and then click Next . The print driver starts to install.
NOTE:The name of the alternate print driver appears as the default name. The name can be changed to the name of the HP product, if desired.
    9.      After a message appears on the computer that the product was added successfully, connect the USB cable to the product and to the computer.
    10.  On the Found New Hardware screen, click Cancel .
NOTE:If multiple pop-up windows appear, click Cancel on each window.

  • Personal, Color, Inkjet Printer -- Recommendations?

I need to get a new printer, and am looking for advice on a good model.
The only things I require, is that it be:
    * inkjet
    * color printing
    * tray loading

    A few thoughts:
    - Look into the ongoing costs for ink. I have a trusty old hp G85 multifunction for which each ink cartridge cost about $50 but they're monstrously huge compared with the teeny cartridges in new inkjets. Even so, I've moved most of my printing and my family's to a big office-class printer because I was shelling out too much for ink. I'm not suggesting against ink jet, only that you look into the cost/page kinda thing for your candidates. (Although maybe you already knew that and you were just hoping to curtail the search by asking the forum)
    - If it's for more than one machine I'd absolutely recommend getting one with an Ethernet attachment. USB-attached printer sharing is not great on any OS and carries with it the restriction that the attached computer be powered up & awake. Even my G85 now is on the Ethernet (via hp 300x)
    - If it supports Postscript you won't be in driver ****, no matter what the OS and future presents.
Q: Priority is color documents or color photos?

Move the Safari app from the Desktop to the Applications folder.
    Restart your Mac.
    That's why you see this:
When I try to do the updates my computer says it has ready it goes through like it is downloading them then at the end it says some of the files could not be saved to "/" files.
