HP Deskjet 9300 Printer needs Windows 8.1 Printer Driver

Hi,
I'd really like to install my  HP Deskjet 9300 Printer up to my new computer, but it's Window's 8.1 and I can't see any options for a compatible printer driver on the HP Website.  Any advice would be much appreciated ...

Hi Tom.
Sorry to inform you, this printer is not supported in Windows 8 and cannot be used with the operating system.

You may try installing an alternative driver as available for Windows 7, however it is not officially supported and there are no gurantees for that to work on Windows 8:
Make sure that the USB cable is not connected to the product. If the USB cable is connected to the product, disconnect it.
From the Windows taskbar, click the Windows icon (), and then click Devices and Printers. The Devices and Printers window opens.
Click Add a printer. The Add Printer window opens.
Click on 'The printer that I want isn't listed.
Click Add a local printer.
Click Use an existing port.
Click the Use an existing port drop-down list, select LPT1 and then click Next.
Under Manufacturer in the Install the printer driver window, click HP.
Under Printers, select the HP Deskjet 1220c.
When the installation is complete, a message displays on the computer stating that the product was added successfully.
In the message window, click Finished.
Connect the USB cable to the product, and connect the USB cable to the computer. A Device driver software was not successfully installed window opens.
Click Close () to close the window.
Right-click the HP Deskjet 1220c printer and then click Printer Properties. The Printer Properties window opens.
Click the Ports tab.
Click the drop down menu, and then change the port from LPT1 to USB or DOT4. if htere are several USB or DOT 4 ports select the one with the higherst number.
Click OK and try printing.
Hope that may work,
Shlomi

  • Can't print to Windows 7 shared printer from Mac OS Lion

    Dear all,
I would like to share my experience battling to figure out how to print to Windows 7 shared printer from Mac OS Lion. Myself had this problem and looking throughly in internet without success. But finally I figured out the solution by myself, hope this can help other Mac user with similar problem.
OK, when I try to setup my new MacBook Pro with OS Lion to connect with my Canon MX308 printer attached to desktop with Windows 7 Ultimate,
    1. I simply select System Preferences>Print & Scan.
    2. Then looks for the + sign just below the box to add a new printer.
    3. From the option toolbar above, I select Windows. I have connect this MacBook with my Windows Network, so the workgroup will appear to the left column.
    4. After I select this group, the computer list will appear in the middle column
    5. Then after I select the computer which my printer connected to, my printer sharename will appear in the right column
    6. Last step is to select the printer I want to use.
    7. After that it will automatically put your printer sharename to the "Name". And then I select my printer driver at "Print Using" and find my printer manufacturer which is Canon MX300 series from driver lists. Finish!
My printer appear in the Printers List. But the problem is everytime I try to print there will be error message saying "ON HOLD Authentication Required".
This problem start to kill me, I search all around for similar problem, but the solution was never worked for me!
Until just now I figured out accidentally for the solution.
THE PROBLEM LIES ON MY PRINTER DRIVER!!!! Although I have downloaded the most update driver from Apple site and Apple Software update said there is no more update for my system!
The solution for my problem is Gutenprint Printer Driver! You can download this driver at http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php, then select for the latest driver gutenprint-5.2.7.dmg. Install this driver!
Then back to Print & Scan in System Preferences, then right click on Printers List box, then choose "Reset Printing System..." to clear the previous failed printers.
After that, repeat the above step 2 - 7. Only for the last step I need to select the Printer Driver for my Canon MX308 for the driver name : "Canon PIXMA MX300 - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.7"
Now I can sleep as a baby knowing that my printer make a friend with my new Macbook Pro! Hope this will help others!

I have the same setup but with a Canon MX850.  This did not fix my problem.

  • Can't print from Windows PC to printer on I-Mac USB over wireless network

I am a brand new Mac user after years of Windows frustration.
Canon i9100 connected to I-Mac via USB. Prints OK from I-Mac. Print share enabled. Windows share enabled.
I-Mac on wireless LAN with static IP addresses for all devices.
Dell Windows XP on same wireless LAN.
    Can ping I-Mac OK.
Added printer on Dell through Windows XP using I-Mac static IP address and I-Mac printer name - installed OK, but will not print.
After hours on Apple Support, found and downloaded Bonjour for Windows and installed on Dell. Ran Bonjour on Dell, installed printer OK, but still won't print from Dell.
Very frustrating and I haven't started on my VPN issues yet - thought Apple would be far simpler.
    Wotto
I-Mac Intel   Mac OS X (10.4.5)   Dell Inspiron Windows XP

On Windows, after either method of setup, change the driver (on PC) to Apple Color LaserWriter. Apple print queues expect postscript as input.
If this is unsatisfactory, you can create a RAW queue on the Mac (only for sharing the printer, because it will have no driver associated):

    Hello,
I am trying to install a HP LaserJet P1606dn printer in a Windows 2008 Server Virtual machine.
The printer is connected to the corporate network and I am able to do ping from my desktop to the printer.
    Then I follow this steps.
1.- Install the driver application for W2008 Server.
2.- Add printer in W2008 Printer Server.
3.-Select "add a local or network printer" as an administrator.
    4.- Choose network printer
    5.-Create a new port --> Standard TCP/IP Port
6.- Fill the host name ---> ("printer1") or IP address --> (XX.XXX.XX.13)  I have tried the both options separately but with no result. And fill the port name
7.-At this stage . W2008 Server tells me that " the device is not found on the network" . Be sure that: .....
So, in select device type, I select  "Standard" and "Generic Network Card"  and click on Next
8.- Install printer driver  -> I select the proper driver HP LaserJet 1606dn
9.- Install the printer driver ---> use the driver that is currently installed (recommend)
    10.- Type printer name --> "printer1"

  • Printing from windows xp to printer on aeb

I have a network set up using an airport extreme basestation which provides internet access to a powerbook and a pc laptop running xp.
    this works flawlessly.
I also have a canon ip3000 printer connected to the basestation which i want to use from both computers.
of course from the mac this was a matter of 2 clicks and it worked.
on the pc, i've spent about an hour going through a gazillion windows, holding the machine's hands every step of the way, downloading drivers it couldn't find and so on. i followed instruction on ifelix http://www.ifelix.co.uk/tech/1004.html step by step. there were no errors while doing this and everything seemed to work.
now when i set the pc to print a test page at the end of the installation process, it does starts spooling and cueing the page and after about 10 seconds complains "the printer is not responding".
meanwhile, the printer _IS responding and is starting to print the page!
windows then decides - obviously after it has sent about a 3rd of the first page - to _re-start printing - this is NOT something i have told it to do - and complains again "printer not responding"...
after about 3 or so attempts, each of just over a 3rd of a page in length, i have 2 pages of garbage and windows claiming that the printer doesn't respond....
does this sound familiar to anyone?
does anyone have any pointers on how to solve this?

was offline for a while - hence the delay in replying to this.
thanks for your help so far
today i reinstalled the printer driver from scratch with the printer connected directly to the computer
Does the printer work correctly when directly connected to the PC?
    yes it does. flawlessly.
Are you using the correct driver?
yes and latest version of it - freshly downloaded today from the manufacturers site
It should be noted that some printer drivers were never designed to work unless the printer was connected directly.
the printer in question is a canon pixma ip 3000 - according to the compatibility list on your site it was added by apple as being compatible...
Bonjour/Rendezvous shouldn't make a difference, but you may want to try it.
at least it takes away m$ insanity in installing drivers and proves the point that interface design __can be done properly, even under windoze... :)))
    the problem that i have at the moment is as follows;
the printer works perfectly when connected directly to the pc.
when connected to the basestation, i use bonjour to find it and install the printer driver (which was already installed in the system to get the printer working when connected directly to the computer, now i just create a new setup for use with the basestation.)
I click "print test page". the printer starts printing, at about 1/3rd of the page it stops and waits. after a while (between half a minute and one minute) the page is ejected by the printer and it starts a new attempt to print the page - note: i did NOT instruct it to do so after the initial "print test page" click.
this second page is printed till about 60 or 70%, after which a 3rd attempt is made at re-printing the page, this time without a page-feed continuing on the second sheet of paper. at the end of that sheet, the computer complains that the test print has failed. in true windows fashion, it does not provide any feedback of what has actually gone wrong.
somehow i have the idea that the software is expecting some kind of acknowledgment from the printer that it has started or maybe even a progress report at regular intervals. and somehow this doesn't seem to come through...
but this is pure guessing - i have no further data to support this other than the sequence of events described above, which is consistent and repeated at every print attempt
if anyone has any suggestions on what to try next, that would be more than welcome
    thanks again

  • Printing to Windows 7 Shared printer???

Ok, so I just tried every one of the convoluted ways I can think of to get a PowerBook G4 running OS 10.4.11 to Print to a printer shared by a Dell PC running Windows 7... NOTHING WORKED!!! 3 hours down the drain... :'(
I got file sharing working just fine, but nothing I did would allow the Mac to see the shared printer...
Is Tiger (10.4.11) too old to see a Windows 7 shared printer???
    HELP!!!!

I'm struggling with the same thing, myself. The Snow Leopard and Windows 7 machines are right as rain, and I can print without problem. (Did turn off Homegroup, as I read somewhere that this is only useful if all the machines in the environment are Windows 7.) The Tiger machine, though... it can see the computer and connect to the shared drive, but it does not see the printer.
The document given above is for 10.5, it's 10.4.11. However, I found this article on the same site (see below), printing between 10.4.11 and Vista (not Windows 7), and I'm gonna give it a whirl tomorrow. I don't think for Windows 7 that SMB has to be specifically enabled, because again, no issues from the Snow Leopard machine in that regard. What caught my attention specifically is in this article on this page, enabling Line Printer Daemon (LPD).

I'll report back with whether or not this worked.

  • Wireless printing between windows 8 and printer

When I try to print, I have to cycle power on the printer in order to get it to communicate with my laptop. After doing so I can print as much as I want without issue. If I try to print a couple of hours latter and have to cycle power again. I'm  thinking something must be reseting in the software, that by cycling power makes it active again. I did not have this issues with windows 7.

    Hey @bkatt ,
Thank you for taking the time to post on the HP Forums today! Hope you enjoy the experience.
So my name is Zac and I'll be your 1 to 1 HP Support representative today! I see you are using an Officejet 6500A and you are having some connectivity issues with your Windows 8.1. You have to connect and disconnect the power cord to get them to communicate after the printer is in idle mode for a while.
HP has a tool that developed and used to fix all kinds of issue with our printers on Windows platforms. The tool is called the HP Print and Scan Doctor. Please download the HP Print and Scan Doctor and see if it can locate any issues and if it fixes you communication issue.
Click here to download and run the Print and Scan Doctor >>> www.hp.com/go/tools
Let me know if you are able to get the HP Print and Scan Doctor to fix the issue. If you are not then let me know and we can continue to troubleshoot. Have a great day and a wonderful/ safe holiday season.

  • Can't print to windows 7 shared printer

I have been searching the web, trying to find a solution for the last week, but I can't find anything to help me have my OS X v10.4.11 Mac print to my HP printer connected to a Windows 7 Home Premium desktop. The mac can see the windows files fine and the windows 7 box can see the mac's files just fine. I just can't get the mac to see the printer.
When I browse more printers it sees my windows box, but when I "Choose" it, the mac prompts me for a username/password and won't accept anything I give it, even though the same credentials worked fine when viewing shared files on the windows box from the very same mac.
I also tried creating a printer using the advanced printer setup, specifying the samba address directly like so: smb://user:password@workgroup/server/sharename
    What am I missing?
    Thanks for any ideas...
Forgot to also mention that I had no problems printing to this printer from my macbook when the printer was connected to my old Windows XP box.
    Message was edited by: perfnorm

I am having the same problem - although I have been working on it for a while longer (which i really hate to admit).
It appears that Windows 7 has dumped any support it had for Samba. (Although I would have sworn I had been printing successfully with the RC of Windows 7 with NO problem, but I wonder if the final version of Windows 7 has changed the TCP/IP stack and print sharing properties.
Had I known on July 1st what I know now, including the new iMac 27" machine - I would have struggled longer on XP and bought my new iMac this week.
Never the less, I am trying to print from my iMac to my Win7 machine which is sharing a printer.
I have been able to get file sharing to work (at least viewing shared files on the Win7 machine via my Mac.
Similar to your message above, I can try connecting via the Windows Workgroup printing features on OSX 10.4 and I can see my machine name under WORKGROUP. I have a USER ID set up on my Win 7 machine with a user ID and password - the same as what my iMac uses.
I can print to the windows 7 machine via XP - but NOTHING via the MAC.
I have tried different renditions of printing using \\WORKGROUP\MACHINENAMESHARED_PRINTERNAME, also using login / password via SMB as well as IP addresses\sharedprintername...
I have also posted for the last several days on the Windows 7 forum of Microsoft but I only get very basic suggestions that don't work. I have also tried changing some of the security settings, and I have also removed firewalls with no success.
I wish I had more to offer, but I'm hoping to help keep this thread alive by adding additional details and postings.
    Thanks

  • Problem printing in windows xp shared printer

    Hello!
I have a Brother Ql-550 label printer shared in a windows xp pc and i would like to print with my mac. In the print menu i can see the printer in the windows priting section but when i try to choose the driver for the brother printer from mac os, that i have installed previously this does not appears in the brother section. I think that this driver don't allow network printing. Is there any way to make this printer work? For example, any kind of virtual printer o something in that way.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Welcome to the Discussions.
I had the same problem recently with a Brother printer. I used LPD/LPR. To access it hold down the option key as you click on Add Printer, click on the drop down menu and select Advanced. Select LPD/LPR from the list, enter the printer's name (from the Sharing properties of the PC) in Device Name and in the URI box enter IP_address/printername and then select the driver (CUPS if available) and click OK. If this doesn't work see the following link for iFelix's excellent setup guides.

  • After printing display window still says "printing..."

using HP7310 office jet all inone
can't print while this message "printing..." is still in display window on printer. Once it goes away after about 5 minutes I can print again.
    How do I fix this?
    Shane

    Stewart,
No, you haven't done anything. That's standard operating procedure for Pages. This issue has come up in this discussion group several times. In fact, I was surprised the first time Pages asked me to save an already saved document. My guess is that the act of printing writes some new info to the file that Pages wants to save. It's a mild annoyance, but still an annoyance.

  • Need Windows XP FM Tuner Driver & Utility for Satellite P

    Hi All,
Can anyone provide a link for this - I've scrapped Vista but can't get this working in XP. It's the NXP FM Tuner Utility and driver. Has anyone been able to get it working in XP?
BTW please don't point me at the standard download pages unless you know for sure the link is there as I've been through a few of them (different countries) tonight without luck.
    Thanks

You can get FM Tuner Utility in versions 1.0, 1.5, 1.6, 1.7 and 1.8. Depending on your computer model and OS, FM Tuner may not work on your computer. I currently have a Toshiba P305 which came with version 1.5. I have not seen anything that indicates that you can use FM Tuner on XP since I own both an XP and VISTA laptop.

  • Satellite C660-10F - Need Windows XP 32bit LAN driver

    Hi there,
I want to backup my C660-10F harddisk to a network storage using Ghost 15 Recovery Disk CD. Therefore I have to configure the bootable Recovery Disk CD with the C660-10F LAN driver for XP 32bit to get access to the network when booting from this CD. When I'm using the lan-en-20101105155404.zip file with the XP drivers from the Toshiba download page I get the error message
Cannot copy a 64-bit hardware device driver to a 32-bit Srd image. One or more binary files listed in ... does not match the target SRD platform
It seems that the XP drivers contain partly 64-bit files. Same problem when using the original Realtek drivers for PCIe FE Family Controller! Where can I get functioning 32-bit XP drivers for the LAN controller of the C660-10F?
    Thanks,
    Franz

    Hi there,
both driver same error, no solution at symantec support, but I found a solution by myself:
The XP nic drivers from toshiba and realtek consists of one netrtle.inf file and 3 files for 32 bit and another 3 files for 64 bit. Either the netrtle.inf file has a problem or symantec ghost 15 uses the 64 bit files instead of the 32 bit ones. So I copied all 3 32 bit files over the 64 bit ones and it's running!!!
    Thank you guys

  • HP Laserjet pro mfp m125nw not printing on windows 7

I have attempting to install this printer on my Windows 7 PC both as a wireless printer and as a straight USB connection .
    with wireless turned off.
Although the implementation always appears to execute successfully I am not able to print from the PC.
No errors are displayed and when doing a test print the print output appears for a split second in the printer's print queue and almost immediately is deleted and disappears.
I have turned the firewalls off (Norton 360 and Windows Defender) while doing all this but still no success.
I have run a variety of printer diagnostics (Windows Fixit, HP Print and Scan Doctor) and they all indicate everything is setup correctly.
I then attempted to install on a 2nd PC with Windows 8. This successfully installed 1st time and have now installed both as a wireless networked printer and as a USB standalone connection and everything works fine without any problems.
I don't understand why I can't successfully install on my PC with Windows 7 - in particular as a standalone USB connection.
Any ideas where I'm going wrong?

    Hi @DavidJS ,
I see that you are experiencing issues printing from the Windows 7 computer over a wireless connection and USB connection, but the Windows 8 computer is working. I would really like to be able to help you resolve this issue.
Clear the Spool folder and restart the Print Spooler.  How to Clear Current Print Queue In Windows Vista & Windows 7.
    Try printing again.
Try these steps for printing over the wireless network.
    I would power cycle everything.
Turn the printer and computer off.
Disconnect the power cable on the router for 10 seconds, then reconnect the power cable again.
Turn the computer on, then the printer.
Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (don't use a power hub or a surge protector) This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
Print out a configuration page to find out what the printer's IPv4 address is.
Check the port showing on the computer, to make sure it matches.
From Devices and Printers, right click the printer and left click Printer Properties, select the Ports tab.
Click on configure port to view the IP address.
If the IP address doesn't match then create a new port with the new IP address.
    Close the configure port window.
Click Add Port, select Standard TCP/IP Port, then select New Port and follow the wizard.
Type in the proper IP address for the printer.
Make sure the printer is online.
    Test the printer.
If you need further assistance, just let me know.
    Have a great day!
