HP Deskjet Cxi

I bought a new PC with Windows 7 64gig - old printer got a usb cable plugged it in and it wont repond have only got a single page with gobbledegook at the top it has a tick beside it it looks like it's connected whay wont it print??

Hi - Which Deskjet is it?  There should be a number before the Cxi (ex. Deskjet 850Cxi).  The first thing to do is to find out what printer driver you have selected.  Click on the Windows icon in the lower left, choose Printers and see whether your printer is listed (I'm looking at Win Vista, but the steps should be similar).  If it is, make sure that the check mark is next to it, flagging it as the default printer.  If it isn't set as default, right click on the Printer and choose Set as Default.  Typically, there are two reasons that the printer would spit out garbage on the page - 1)  Wrong printer selected  or 2) Communication issues (poor connection, bad cable, etc.).
Hope that helps.

  • Can't print from MBP to HP DeskJet Cxi

I have a new MacBook Pro and an older but not much used HP DeskJet Cxi. I can print from my old PowerBookk G4 but not from my MBP. Apple says HP doesn't offer a driver; HP says Apple doesn't offer a driver. Is there any way to use this printer with my MBP?

That's very strange.  See if clearing the cache in Safari will make it work.  I'll include the steps below.  If that doesn't help, install a different browser, such as Opera, to see if that will print from pages that Safari won't.  If it will, then something is wrong with Safari.  If it doesn't print, then the web pages might have printing blocked.  There are sites that are doing that for copyright reasons.  Let me know what you find.
To clear the cache on Safari:
    Open Settings.
    Select Safari
    Touch Clear Cache.
    Select Clear.
    Touch Clear Cookies.
    Select Clear.
    Touch Clear History.
    Select Clear.

  • HP Deskjet 970 Cxi

I had a problem installing the drivers for the printer, and had to re-install several times.  Worked fine but now will not stop printing when using controlP.  I have shut it off a dozen times, and it will come back and print again...it is apparently trying to print a long job of 20 Pages, and when stopped will go backwards or forward printing, but NOT SHUT OFF.  I have to open the hid which stops the printing.  When trying to print again it is re-trying the old print job, not the new one.  I have had problems with Win 8 OS and it doesn't always work the way it is supposed to, so this is not new,  but is for the HP which has always worked fine.  On the print program there is no STOP printing, and cancel doesn't work.   It usb connected to the printer, but have to unplug the printer to stop the printing.
The driver was upgraded for the Cxi, and I am about to delete the whole thing and start over, but need to have some idea of what is wrong in case it happens again!!!

    Hello @Lori20022,
I understand that you're experiencing issues when printing from your Windows 8 computer to your HP Deskjet 970cxi Printer. I would like to offer my assistance today with resolving this issue. However, support is going to be a bit challenging as we are limited for our support options. The reason being is because of the age of your Deskjet printer HP did not release Full Feature Drivers and Software for your printer on Windows 8. There actually hasn't been Full Feature drivers released for your model of printer since Windows XP. Thus, we are reliant on a generic Windows driver package to install the printing functions for your product. It definitely sounds like this generic Windows driver is experiencing printing issues within Windows latest Operating System. To be honest, a lot of these printing issues are likely stemming from the age of your product. With that being said, I will walk you through some steps on properly removing your driver and reinstalling correctly to ensure that the proper driver is being used. Please follow the steps below.
    Step 1: Uninstall Driver:
    1. Please disconnect your USB Cable from the printer, or the computer, whatever is easier
    2. Open your Start screen by selecting the Windows button on the bottom left of your computer screen or by selecting the Windows key on the bottom left of your keyboard to the right of the Ctrl button
    3. In the Start screen type Devices and Printers. Click on Devices and Printers to launch this window.
    4. In the Devices and Printers folder, right click on your HP Deskjet and select 'delete' or 'remove device'
    5. Once the printer icon is deleted, click on any item in the Devices and Printers folder once just to highlight it. Next, select Print Server Properties at the top.
    6. When the Print Server Properties window opens click on the Drivers tab. Click on your HP Deskjet driver and select Remove.
    7. A 'Remove Driver and Package' box will open. Click on 'Remove driver only' and select OK. Lastly, click Apply and OK under the Print Server Properties box.
    8. Close the Devices and Printers box.
    Step 2: Clear Temp Files:
Open your Start screen by selecting the Windows button on the bottom left of your computer screen or by selecting the Windows key on the bottom left of your keyboard to the right of the Ctrl button
In the Start screen type Run. Click on Run to launch the Run dialogue box.
In the Run box type %temp% and hit OK
When the Temp folder opens, select Ctrl + A at the same time on your keyboard. Everything in this folder will now highlight.
Select the 'delete' button on your keyboard. The Temp folder contains temporary internet files. No actual files or folders on your computer will be affected by deleting the Temp files. Should a Temp file still be used than you will automatically get the pop up to 'skip' that item.
Close the Temp folder once it is emptied
Right click the Recycling Bin on your desktop and select Empty Recycling Bin
    Step 3: Reinstall Printer:
    Turn your printer ON
Plug the USB Cable in from the printer directly to your computer
Windows 8 will automatically search for the most recent driver
You should get a pop up saying the Driver Installed
If this fails, please click here for instructions on how to manually Add a Printer on Windows 8. Refer to the section on Frequently Asked Questions: How to I manually install the printer?
Once your printer is successfully added in, please try printing again to verify if everything functions properly now.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. Best of luck!

  • Problems printing with Deskjet 895 CXi

    Dear all,
I have a big problem and I hope someone can help me out. I have since a long time a Deskjet 895Cxi, when I was using my Toshiba PC, the printer was working great, since i bought in July last year my Mac Book Pro, I can't manage to get it to work.
The printer is connected via the USB cable and I have tried to install the HP drivers that a lot of you have suggested (OSXHPInkjetinstaller). Now the installer, does install drivers but when I try to print nothing happens or I get pages with just one line with some scribled texts (e.g. @#5ljslfjslk lsflksr*$).
I have installed and removed the printer a couple of times even chaning the driver version from HP Inkjet 3.3 (at the end nothing comes out at all) to the HP Deskjet 895C - Gimp-Print v5.0.0-beta2 (and the scribled text comes out).
When I try to print a "test" page through the installed HP drivers it works fine but when I try to print the document out of Word...it just goes wrong...and nothing comes out the way it should be.
Can anyone help me out in finding a solution to print in color through this printer?
Thank you very much in advance for your answers.
    Kind regards
    Virtussino

Might be a long shot (but can't hurt) -
Try installing the alternate USB driver "usbtb:"
    http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=1537
This will show a second iteration of your printer in the default browser window (ie, after clicking Add) with usbtb next to it. Select that, and probably the Gimp-Print driver, and try it.

  • HP deskjet 980 cxi Uninstall failure

I cannot uninstall my HP deskjet 980cxi from Windows XP.
I have tried Control panel uninstaller, CCleaner uninstaller and Iobit Power Uninstaller, but each fails with the notice "the procedure entry point _LaunchGlue@12 could not be located in the dynamic link library hpfinst.dll"
Have searched 'net for LaunchGlue, but cannot trace - only ref is by anti-virus sites.  HP has no LaunchGlue@12 either.
Can any-one help, please, so that I can remove 980, then re-install latest software (which also fails each try) for my favourite old faithful printer?
(I also have Linux Ubuntu on the same computer, and the printer works fine through that system)

  • Installing DeskJet 970 CSe over network to Win 7 64-bit system

My deskjet 970Cse is hard connected to our desktop running Windows XP Pro. I just bought a new laptop running Windows 7 64-bit. I was able to install the printer connecting the USB cable to the laptop without a hitch, however, I can't install it over the network. When I click Add Printer, Windows is able to find the printer, but after trying to connect, it says it can't find a driver on the network. When I click on OK to locate one manually, it asks me to locate the INF file. I tried pointing it to the Windows XP INF file I downloaded from the HP website but it says (obviously) that it cannot connect to the printer.
I'm assuming that if I'm able to connect the printer locally that connecting to it over a network should be able to work? Any workarounds to get it to work?
Or is my issue something HP might/will/won't solve when it supposedly releases Windows 7 drivers?

The Deskjet 970cse and cxi drivers are the same.  You will need to enable the duplexer as described in the first part of this post in the Vista/Win 7 Duplex Printing Troubleshooting Guide here.

  • AIO Remote wont recognize my network printer deskjet 3050

AIO remote app (IOS) did not recognize my network printer (Deskjet 3050), other apps (printer pro lite) did recognize the printer flawlessly, both the printer and the iphone are in the same network, I can print from my PC and my mac but not from AIO remote app (not even recognize the printer).
    Can you help me?

    Hello MrCrysis,
With the Printer Pro Lite app working to printer, this is excellent to hear. Although this is not an HP app. So to explain as to why the AiO Remote app is not recognizing your printer, and not being able to scan. Your printer does not have AirPrint capabilities according to the 'HP Deskjet 3050 (J610) and 3050A (J611) All-in-One Printer Series Product Specifications'. AirPrint is a requirement for the HP AiO Remote app to work, and because the printer does not have AirPrint the app can not see the printer.

  • Airport Extreme Printing Problem with HP Deskjet.

Hello ... I wonder if any helpful folks can assist me with my printing problem? I am using Tiger on a new Intel imac with a HP Deskjet 960C. This printer is listed as having the latest drivers included within Tiger and works perfectly when connected via USB so my problem I guess is not with the software....I have disconnected everything and plugged everything back together again. I also deleted the printer from the printer list within the Printer Setup Utility application.... The imac recognisies the printer and upon pressing the print button everything feels as though its just going to work. The blue barber shop scroll appears but the printer fails to kick into gear and I get the big red exclamation mark appearing in the status box .... I would really love to try and sort this annoying error ... Any ideas? Thanks. Book G4   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

Hello jds17. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Unfortunately, not all USB printers are compatible with AirPort base stations.
Take a look at one of these iFelix Unofficial AirPort Printer Compatibility links, depending on which AirPort base station you have:
o 802.11g AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS) or AirPort Express Base Station (AX)
o 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn)
If your printer isn't listed, it doesn't necessarily mean it won't work, but simply that it has not been verified. iFelix also provides the following workaround for printers not on the list that would certainly be worth a try.
Also, you may find the following Apple article helpful.

I have a HP deskjet 3050 all in one J610 series which I am using with Windows Vista Version 6.0 (Build 6006: Service pack 2).  Connecting is by USB port.  I have not used the printer for some time, but have done all the maintence checks & it is good to go.  When I want to print a letter the only thing that gets printed is the email address which is coloured blue.  I think the problem is in the settings of the printer features.  I can print the letter in gray scale but this is not easy to read and not suitable for business dealings.
I would appreciate help with this problem.  A definition of the terms used in the printer features might help me resolve it by my self.

Check the printer itself.  Some printers you need to set the color & B&W settings on the printer itself instead of the Mac.   If that is not the case w/your printer, contact HP tech support and/or post in their forums if they have one.

  • Windows 7 x64 can't read/install any printer drivers from Windows Server 2003 x64 (AMD64 folder and HP Deskjet 855c)

I read the thread Widows 7 printer
HP deskjet 855c driver about possible installation of HP855c drivers onto Windows 7 x64 from "Windows Server 2003 x64" CD but I didn't have enough luck to succeed with doing it on my laptop. That thread appears to be dead now
as it is marked "Answered", so I'm asking for help here. I have Toshiba Satellite P500 with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (http://i55.tinypic.com/2zgth6v.jpg).
Let me tell you first that I don't have access to Windows Server 2003 x64 or XP Pro 64 CD's. However I did some research online, which eventually forced me to learn about the "file sharing". After extensive search I was able to get the copies
of AMD64 folders from Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard x64 with SP2 and
XP Pro 64. The reason that I went also after XP Pro was because I thought that the extra wording "R2 Standard x64 with SP2" in description of "Windows Server 2003" did not reflect the exact name provided by poster
Alan. I couldn't find just "Windows Server 2003 x64" (does it matter?).
Anyway, I followed first the drill with running "printui /s /t2" and disabling UAC, and then in both cases I was able to locate the
NTPRINT.INF file (http://oi51.tinypic.com/9qwvt2.jpg - this image is from XP Pro AMD64 folder) but each time when I
attempted to install the driver, I got the same message stating:
"The folder you specified doesn't contain a compatible software drive for your device. If the folder contains the driver, make sure it's designed to work with Windows for x64-based systems." (http://oi53.tinypic.com/27yveiw.jpg)
    Why aren't there x64 drivers?
During several installation attempts I had the printer connected to or disconnected from my laptop. It didn't make any difference. I must add that for this purpose I had to use different cable than the original one designated only for the
Parallel port in my old desktop with Windows XP. My new laptop with Windows 7 x64 came only with 3 USB ports (plus 1 HDMI and 1 Serial). Because of that situation I bought in advance a new printer cable called “USB to 36-pin Parallel Port Adapter
Cable” (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003A8I75E). I'm not sure, if it will work until I can install the printer.
Besides, nobody talked about this issue yet. I was also playing with the port choices in "Add printer" step; changing from default LPT1 to USB001 with the same negative results.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I was very hopeful after reading positive "case closed" notes there.
Can anyone help me here, maybe by making the necessary files available for download? I'm willing to pay for such assistance or make a donation, if necessary. Seriously. Judging by the large number of views of the original
thread, one could assume that there is a potential demand for such service. It would be more human to pay few bucks for a few driver files than $900 for the whole Windows Server 2003 x64 CD, no? Can Microsoft accomodate me/us, please? :)
    Andrew*
P.S. I was advised to come for help here from
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-hardware/windows-7-x64-cant-readinstall-any-printer-drivers/4e7d06e1-33a5-4597-be70-4fdc087a63a7?msgId=9a045994-0d31-4d40-b17d-dba372393ee4

I have my HP 855c/driver working on Win 7 Ultimate x64. I used the 'printui /s' procedure and 4 files described above with some minor changes.
I pulled WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB914961-SP2-x64-ENU.exe down from the Microsoft website. Running the file causes the exe to unpack into a temp folder at the root drive. A 'Setup Error' message box is displayed once the file is run. I left this
message box up until I copied ntprint.inf, ntprint.cat, and sp2.cab from the temp folder.
I copied driver.cab from a Windows XP Pro disc. I also needed amd64\stdnames.gpd which was already in my Windows 7 c:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\x64\3 folder.
I created a folder with the 5 files (ntprint.inf, ntprint.cat, sp2.cab, driver.cab, and amd64\stdnames.gpd). This is my 'Have Disc' folder.
I followed the 'printui /s' instructions, first changing the permissions mentioned above and then installing the driver. Next I followed the instructions to add a printer from Control Panel 'Devices and Printers' - 'Add Printer', choosing to 'use an existing
driver' when installing the HP 855c.
I used a slightly different ntprint.inf, size 1570418. The readable contents of ntprint.inf is as follows. Notice the line 'CatalogFile=ntprint.cat' is not included. I tried using the 1570468 version of ntprint.inf; when I did I received an incompatibility
message (probably the same one mentioned above).

Hello @HarpreetS , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you're running into print issues.  I would like to help.
Do you recieve any sort of error messages?
I would suggest Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once it is uninstalled, I would suggest putting your system into clean boot mode within the Microsoft configuration.  You can do so by following this document: How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
Once the computer is in clean boot mode, I would suggest reinstalling the HP Deskjet 1510 e-All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Drivers.

  • HP Deskjet F4480 Unable to Scan in 10.6

After updating to 10.6, my Deskjet F4480 can no longer be used as a scanner. I have tried re-installing the full driver and software provided by HP, which claims to include updated support for 10.6; when I then try to use HP Scan, it tells me no scanner is found. When I completely uninstall the HP software and use the driver provided via Software Update, then try to scan through the Print & Fax panel in System Preferences (or via Preview) I get a failed to initiate session message. This is ridiculous. Does anyone have a fix for this problem?
    Thank you.

Thanks for the response, but I've tried updating the TWAIN driver and scanner driver with no luck. Since it works with every other program I've tried (except for Acrobat), I'm pretty sure it's an issue with the settings in Acrobat 6/7. I've also updated with all of the service packs as well.
