HP Deskjet F2480 - USB Malfunction?

Hello!
I have just set up a HP Deskjet F2480 printer on my Mac due to my other PC breaking. When I went to add the printer it said 'Kind: USB Malfuntion' (image). However, I continued to add it as a printer and try and print a document. Whenever I attempt to print it just gets stuck on 'Ready to print' (image).
I am using Mavericks 10.9.4 and have a late 2012 21.5" iMac.

Actually, it says "Multifunction", not "Malfunction". That is correct, it is a multifunction printer.
Let's reset the printing system:
- Go to System Preferences > Print & Scan
- Right (or control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
- Select the plus sign to re-add a printer. Select the Defualt tab on the top of the window. Look for the printer, select it and then next to the "Use" pulldown, select the printer model (not AirPrint). Wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.

Windows 8 won't wirelessly connect to HP deskjet F2480

I have a new HP laptop with windows 8 and I tried setting up my HP Deskjet F2480 printer by connecting the usb cable.
The printer does show up under 'Devices' but shows it as being offline. Whenever I try printing something I just get a 'failed' message.
I know that the printer does work wirelessly as my previous laptop worked ok. I have checked that 'sharing' is on.
I have tried downloading up to date Windows drivers but no luck.
Can anyone help please?

Deskjet f2480 - duplex / 2-side printing

Hello there,
i have been trying to get this HP deskjet F2480 to print double sided but it always prints the odd pages but i cannot get it to print the even pages.
my previous hp had an onscreen and a button prompt for the reverse side printing. this one doesnt.
i have contacted the HP online technical team twice now. the first time the technician insisted that this model doesnt support duplex printing (despite the HP website saying that it does) and the second time i was told that it must be due to a corrupt software. i have therefore uninstalled it, reinstalled, installed all the available patches from HP website and this ....printer is still only printing odd pages! furthermore, the printer gets 'jammed' with the even pages still waiting in the queue to be printed. it is impossible to 'cancel' the printing at this stage and the only solution is to restart my laptop and disconnect from mains the printer....
has anyone had come accross the same issue? what is the solution?
or this printer just symply doesnt support duplex printing???

Please let me know what version of Adobe Reader are you using.
You might try printing any other PDF file with the same settings and check for the same.

Deskjet F2480 manual pring both sides

HP Deskjet F2480, Dell Hardware, Windows 7 and windows office 2010 Home edition, hard wired to printer.
Manualy printing both sides mixes up the pages.
It would appear that first print odd numbered pages prints 1,2,3,4etc. then when turned and continue clicked it prints 5,6,7,8etc.
I have >30 page reports to print.
How do I overcome this?

I understand you're having issues manually printing both sides using the Deskjet F2480. I will do my best to assist you! Could you try printing from a different program on your computer to see if you're receiving the same problem? Please let me know on this post.
Have you installed the full feature drivers for this printer on your computer? I would recommend following this entire Microsoft Office document on Print on both sides of the paper (duplex printing) in Word to make sure the print settings are correct.

HP Deskjet F2480 All-in-One prints BLANK PAGES

Dear All, I have a serious issue with my HP Deskjet F2480 All-in-One Colour Ink-jet - Printer / copier / scanner.The thing is that it prints BLANK PAGES. I tried everything from the manualHP Deskjet F2400 All-in-One series:

HP Solution Center of Deskjet F2480 does not display properly

I've been using my Deskjet F2480 for years (since 2009) and never had any problems but since yesterday I can't get my HP Solution Center to display properly.
When I click on it, the box opens and everything is there except for any text. Therefore, I cannot choose to either scan or copy or whatever I want it to do.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled but that didn't help. I know I can access 'Devices and printers' and then get the scanner to work but I cannot edit the quality of the scans as precisely as through the solution center so the end result is much inferior to what I was used to.
I've been cleaning up discs and what have you to see if maybe the computer (Windows 7) rather than the scanner is to blame but nothing seems to help.
What should I do to get my solution center working again?

Deskjet 5552 USB - no print problem.

Printer:     Hewlett Packard deskjet 5552 USB connection.
System:   Microsoft Windows XP
              Home Edition
              Version 2002
                Service Pack 3

                2 GHz 2.00 GB of Ram
                Physical Address System.
I haven't used my printer for some months now but this last weekend I needed to. Even after careful preparation it failed to print. I know there have been a number of updates from MS but I would not have thought that would be the problem. However thats why I'm here.
Upon installing '5550-enu-win2k_xp.exe' a sample print is obtainable from the printer ( the picture of the leaves and HP invent logo). However this is the only print available. It will not print from Notebook, Wordpad or the cursor in the command window. I installed the Diagnostic Tool HPPDU.exe but the report was that everything was set up correctly. The only thing that didn't happen was the printing of a sample page.
Since I found the problem I have removed Microsoft Office, 2010, just in case this may have been a problem. I have also removed the HP printer program, twice, and reloaded it. A point of interest the HP program wasn't uninstalled in total. I had to remove what remained by deletion and then ran RegMechanic to remove any loose ends.
The printer works fine the software is as uptodate as the HP site can supply. I'm stuck. Never experienced anything like this.
What else should I look for to correct this situation?

I have had the same problem. I found the printer cartridges were old but still had ink. I have replaced them but still have the problem. Did you have any luck?

Hi Billjames0151, welcome to the HP Forums. If one of these methods do not enable you to scan on RT: How to Scan Windows RT or Windows 8 Tablets
Then you should try reinstalling it using this method: Install the Printer Software in Windows RT or Windows 8 on a Tablet

Blue Screen of Death and USB malfunctions on HP Envy running Windows 7

Hello.
I have an HP Envy 14 notebook PC. It's running Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, version 6.1.7601. When I run it, I eventually starts getting an error message from the right of the desktop toolbar telling me that a USB device I plugged in is malfunctioning and did not get installed correctly. This is happening while my USB ports are empty.
As this is happening, the computer also starts playing background static that you can hear over headphones as well. This sound goes away once you mute the machine. After plugging the computer into a monitor to play sound through its speakers, there is also a curious effect; after I remove all the cords and plug in earphones, I hear amplified booming sounds from small movements, rather than what is meant to be playing. This latter effect goes away once I restart the computer,
Eventually, the computer displays a blue screen and crashes. The blue screen asks me to disable BIOS memory options such as caching and shadowing. Once the machine restarts, it informs gives me the following report:

I have the same issue you have had. This happend to my old hp, I thought it was a fluke so when I bought my new hp envy a year ago I was dumbfounded to see that its happening all over again. This time my hp envy 14 is doing the same thing yours did with the same code and all. Can you please tell me what you did to fix this or were you even able to fix it at all?

OSX 10.5.4 printing to HP Deskjet via USB on Time Capsule

Mac has a problem printing to a Deskjet 6122 connected USB to a Time Capsule. The Time Capsule is set up as a LAN wireless access point to the ISP.
Wireless clients are:
1. Macbook with Leopard OSX V10.5.4. All OSX updates were applied Dec 5, 2008 in the shop when the Mac got a new HDD and the Leopard upgrade.
2. A Windows Vista box (Time Capsule runs 802.11g because of the wireless adapter in this box).
Printers on the LAN are:
1. HP Deskjet 6122 connected to the USB port on the Time Capsule, and
2. HP Laserjet 1022NW connected Ethernet to the Time Capsule.
Printer sharing is OFF for both printers/clients
Addition of both printers to the Mac was normal. +*But when printing multiple page documents to the Deskjet 6122, the Mac only prints one page*+ (the last one) without error message of any kind. The Mac’s driver version for this printer is 3.3.3. I deleted the printer from the Mac and re-added it – same problem. I followed the procedure in “Printer Troubleshooting for Airport Base Stations and Time Capsule” – same problem.
The Mac prints all pages of multiple page documents to the Laserjet 1022. The Windows box prints all pages of multiple page documents to both printers.
Any ideas?

I don't want to hijack RetP3Pilot's thread, but I may be having a similar issue.
I've recently been experiencing a "connection failure" error when trying to print to my HP Deskjet 950 connected to a Time Capsule via Bonjour. I tried your suggestion of using the latest Gutenprint driver and adding the printer via IP Address. It appears to connect but anything I send to it stalls at 24% and there is no visible activity going on with the printer. ANy suggestions are welcome.

Problem connecting ipod-Error says USB malfunct & winXP does not recognize

Please can someone help a non-tech savy new ipod user. I have loaded the latest itunes, but not only does itunes not see my ipod, I get the following windows error when I plug it into the USB port. "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it". When I click on this, it says no drivers are loaded for this device. I have followed the 5Rs including the windows updates with no luck. If anyone can help I would really appreciate it.

Already done that. The USB port is 2.0 and is on the back of my computer and i am not using any dock or external hubs. The cable i am using is the one that came with my ipod when i bought it.
I connected the cable to ALL the USB ports just in case the one i was using was not working properly but the error continued. I also check that the USB ports are not protected (meaning the USB port is blocked and recognizes the ipod as a virus). I also deactivated the firewall just in case it was blocking itunes or the apple mobile device support.
I've done everything and i am freaking out!! Please help meeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! thanks anyway lllaass

I have installed the Nokia PC Suite 6. However, when using the Get Connected Wizard no phone is recognised when connected to USB cable. Moreover, occasionally when I connect the USB cable with the N70 attached a speech bubble reads - when detecting new hardware - that the USB connection has malfunctioned. Confused. Any ideas on how to resolve this and establish a PC/Phone via USB cable connection would be most welcome

Go to Windows device manager and see if the phone+cable when connected are visible there. If unknown USB device or unknown device with ?-mark appeares, highlight and uninstall it with mouse right click. Disconnect phone.Boot PC. Start PC again, try again.

SOLVED - USB malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it

I have been using my IPAD2 for months (LOVE IT). Today, when I plug it into the same WIndows 7 Laptop I have been using for months, An error message says
USB Device Not Recognized.
I Powered off & On the Ipad, no help
I plugged it into a Windows XP computer that I have used before, same message.
It is NOT and Windows 7 Problem (because same message on XP)
Device Manager is probably not the answer as it fails on 2 machines to which it has been previously connected.
It has nothing to do with ITunes (error comes up with or without Itunes Loaded)
I am very reluctant to do a full reset on the Ipad because if I can't get windows to recognize it, then I cant use my Ipad at all (HORRORS!)
Any suggestions?
Update: SOLVED.
I was plugging in the Ipad through the Ipad Stand. I took the Ipad Stand out of the equasion an it worked fine!

Usb malfunction?

so when i connect the ipod through usb to the laptop, it does not read my "ipod". Therefore i am not able to add or remove songs from the ipod. Yet, with the ipod schuffle, it reads it...
would it be the usb cable for the ipod mini, causing the problem? The thing is, is that it worked less than 24 hrs ago when i was last on my laptop. I've reinstalled itunes, restarted the computer several times... still nothing
any solutions...?

Try Resetting Your iPod while it's connected to the computer. Hold down the Menu and Select buttons until you see the Apple logo. This will often get it recognized. It may take several attempts.

Deskjet F2480 Software download for Mac 10.9

Hi!
I'm trying to install my F2480 printer onto my macbook running 10.9.2 Mavericks. I've had no problem with the macbook recognising the printer, but I don't have the original disk to install the software. I have tried downloading it from the website, but I can only seem to find the driver patch, which doesn't work. So I can't seem to scan from the printer onto the macbook. Any help would be great! Hi,
The drivers are available from the Apple Software Update server.
Try scanning using Image Capture or Preview as these are the provided solutions for Mavericks, scanning from the front panel is not supported on the operating system:
