HP DL380p Gen8 processor kit elements

I'd like to add a second processor in a HP D380p Gen8 serveur. Somebody sent me a processor kit which contains only One fan. The user Guide explains that 2 fans are needed when adding a second processor. I'd like to know if the processor kit is sold with one fan or two fans. Can somebody help please.

Performance with Dedup on HP ProLiant DL380p Gen8

it is not that i haven't been warned. It is just that i simply do not understand why write performance on the newly created pool ist so horrible...
Hopefully, i'll get some mor advise here. Some basic figures:
The machine is a HP ProLiant DL380p Gen8 with two Intel Xeon E5-2665 CPUs and 128GB Ram.
The storage-pool is made out of 14 900GB SAS 10k disks on two HP H221 SAS HBAs in two HP D2700 storage enclosures.
The System is Solaris 11.1

I just do not get this. Why is it that slow? Am i missing any tunable parameters? From the above figures the ddt should use 5354008*152=776MB in RAM. That should fit easily.
Sorry for the longish post, but i really need some help here, because the real data with much higher dedup ratio is still to be copied to that pool.
Compression is no real alternative, because most of the data will be compressed images and i don't expect to see great compression ratios.

Isn't the tunable parameter "arc_meta_limit" obsolete in Solaris 11?
Before Solaris 11 you could tune arc_meta_limit by setting something reasonable in /etc/system with "set zfs:zfs_arc_meta_limit=...." which - at boot - is copied into arc_c_max overriding the default setting.
On this Solaris 11.1 c_max is already maxed out to "kstat -p zfs:0:arcstats:c_max -> zfs:0:arcstats:c_max 136312127488" without any tunig. This is also reflected by the parameter "meta_limit = 0". Am i missing something here?
When looking at the output of "echo "::arc" | mdb -k" i see the values of "meta_used", "meta_max" and "meta_limit". I understand these as "memory used for metadata right now", "max memory used for metadata in the past" and "theoretical limit of memory used for metadata" with an value of "0" as "unlimited". Right?
What exactly is "arc_no_grow = 1" saying here?
Sorry for maybe asking some silly questions. This is all a bit frustrating ;)
When disabling dedup on the pool write performance is increasing almost instantly. I did not test it long enough to get real figures. I'll probably do this (eventually even with Solaris 10) tomorrow.
Would Oracle be willing to help me out under a support plan when running Solaris 11.1 on a machine which is certified for Solars 10 only?

How many cores can Adobe Premiere Elements 12 utilise on a CPU?

I am looking into purchasing 1 of 3 different products right now and Elements is one of those with others being competitors. Due to Elements not utilising OpenCL or Cuda increased rendering speed, other software looks like a better solution. However, the ones I am currently looking at only use up to 4 cores. The processor I am looking at is the Intel 4930k 6 core processor, will Elements utilise all cores effectively? Also I have heard Elements runs poorly on Windows 8.0 and 8.1 as compared with 7.* . Is this the case?

Interesting, it looks like a new format for the old link. But, let us see how effective it is with this new format.
Premiere Elements 12 should be able to use 4 cores. Probably 6 cores for encoding, but I cannot give you the definite answer.

I can tell you first hand, Premiere Elements 12/12.1 runs well on Windows 7 Professional SP1 64 bit, Windows 8 64 bit, and Windows 8.1 64 bit.

Anyone know if MSI make a Dual Processor P4 motherboard?. Want to get 2 P4 3.2Ghz processor kit etc built into a Vapochill box. Hope they do make one.

You are out of luck Dude , Because as Matter of Fact, I have never even Heard of a Dual P4 Board , I have Seen Dual Xeon, and Dual Itainium Boards, Because Dual CPU Boards are Mainly Used for servers Not For Desktop and Gaming Use, And they Require 24 Pin PSU's Not the Regular 20 Pin Main Connector... And the Only Manufacturer of Dual CPU Motherboards is TYAN....And the Only Semi-Desktop Dual COU Board that I am aware of, is the TYAN Tiger Dual Athlon MP Board, INTEL Never Intended the Northwood, or Prescott CPU's to Run in a Tandam Configuration, Thats why they Came out with Hyper-Threading Technology, and I am almost positive that is the Closest that you will get to a Dual CPU P4.......You Can Build a Dual Xeon Rig but at $1000+ for Each CPU, for a rig that wont be faster at Most Gaming and regular Desktop apps. then a regular Single "Northwood" P4, and Most Definitely Slower then Either of the Extreme Edition Northwoods (As these EE Northwoods are the Closest thing to a Xeon, as the EE also has a 2MB L-3 Cache)........I could be wrong about the Dual P4 Boards Existance but I doubt it.................Sean REILLY875

How can I get the 64-bit Premiere Elements 12 Setup?

I purchased Premiere Elements 12 and when I tried to install it on my 64-bit Windows 7 I reveived the message to get the 64-bit version of the Setup. Where can I get this?

If you have Premiere Elements 12 on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit or Mac 64 bit processor, Premiere Elements is a 64 bit application running in that 64 bit system.
You can verify that with a free program such as Process Explorer Sysinternals and its Image Type Field.

If you have an installation disc, I suspect you would not be getting into this situation.
I am suspecting that you have installation files from an Adobe download. If that is the case, did you have to select the download type? If so, could you have selected the wrong one? If you have installation files from Adobe, can you download the files again from Adobe from your Account/Order there?
You could also download Premiere Elements 12 tryout files (64 bit type) from the following web site and then insert your purchased serial number during installation of these files.
It is critical that you read carefully the Note: Very Important Instructions write up at that web site so that you do not get an Access Denied message.

My Server 2012 getting huge internet speed upload and download.

And I got public IP with 6 MBPS Dedicated Wireless line.
but problem is that my server getting huge speed uploading my ping goes high some time 3000 ms from other networks. some time request time out. when i same public IP assign in my personal Laptop there is no any issue every thing work good and fine.
and we are using SQL server one application which access from out side like this.

when we access it it goes very slow and stuck .

I would suggest you to monitor the upload traffic via "Resource Monitor" in that server to find some clue .

Got CPU peak when using connect around 330 user.

What is best use of 1400 gb SGA (2 rac nodes 768gb each)

currently using 11.2.0.3.0 on unix sun sever with 2 RAC nodes each 8 UltraSPARC-T1 cpus (came out in 2005) four threads each so oracle sees 32 CPUS very slow(1.2 gb). Database is 4TB in size on regular SAN (10k speed).
8gb SGA.
New boss wants to update system to the max to get best performance possible Money is a concern of course but budget is pretty high, Our use case is 12-16 users at same time, running reports some small others very large (return single row or 10000s or rows). reports take 5 sec to 5 minutes, Our job is get the fastest system possible, We have total of 8 licenses available so we can have 16 cores. We are also getting a 6tb all flash SSD array for database. we can get any CPU we want but we cant use parallel query server due to all kinds of issues we have experienced (too many slaves, RAC interconnect saturation etc, whack-a-mole). sparc has too many threads and without PS oracle runs query in single thread.
we have speced out the following system for each RAC node
HP ProLiant DL380p Gen8 8 SFF server
2 Intel Xeon E5-2637v2 3.5GHz/4-core cpus
768 gb ram
2 HP 300GB 6G SAS 15K drives for database software
this will give us total of 4 Xeon E5-2637v2 cpus 16 cores total (,5 factor for 8 licenses) and 1536 ram (leaving ~1400 for sga). this will guarantee an available core for each user. we intend to create very very large keep pool around 300 gb for each node that will hold all our dimension tables. this we hope will reduce reads from the SSD to just data from fact tables.,
Are we doing a massive overkill here? the budget for this was way less than what our boss expected. will that big an sga be wasted will say a 256gb be fine. or will oracle take advantage of it and be able to keep most blocks in there.
will an sga that big cause oracle problems due to overhead of handling that much ram?

Reassessment of the performance issues of current system appears to be required.Good performance tuning expert is required to look into tuning issues of current application by analyzing awr performance metrics . If 8GB SGA is not enough,then reason behind so is that queries running in the system are not having good access path to select lesser data to avoid flushing out of recent buffers from different tables involved in the query. Until those issues are identified , wherever you go, performance issue wont be going away as table size increase in future , problem will reappear.Even if the queries are running with more FULL Scan , then re-platforming to Exadata might be right decision as Exadata has smart scan , cell offloading feature which works faster and might be right direction for best performance and best investment for future.Compression (compress for OLTP) could be one of the other feature to exploit to improve further efficiency while reading the lesser block in lesser read time.
Investment in infrastructure will solve a few issue in short term but long term issue will again arise.
Investment in identifying the performance issues of current system would be best investment in current scenario.

A newbie trying to do a VDI using Hyper-V

We are a small company with 150 PCs and we would like to try the VDI using Hyper-V in Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter.
We would like to go with a pilot of 20 people for now. We bought a brand new server HP ProLiant DL380p Gen8 Server and a new Disk array HP StorageWorks Disk Enclosure D2600. We have already AD (2008 R2) installed on another Server.
The users will be using thier PCs and the VM storage location should be in the new HP Disk D2600 recently bought.
Could you please let me know what do you think? What are the best practices? What is the best approch to start this project? What would you do? What are the steps? Is there any way for the 20 people to keep thier OS and data and move to Virtual without any
impact? I heard about something called Physical to Virtual?

Sounds like you have a good plan and your work cut out for you to get this implemented. Starting with a pilot of 20 users is a good way to start.

This should give you a good starting point. I don't have any experience in using the HP Disk D2600, you may want to look at HP forums, or call them direct to ask for how to set that up.

Place multiple titles on a single clip and then manually place them?

Hi all,
Is it possible to place multiple titles on the same clip in iMovie 09?
I would also like to manually place those titles to where I want them to be on the frame.
I know it's possible to "trick" iMovie by adding a title to a clip, exporting it, and then importing it again to add another title but this seems to degrade the quality of the video.

so, Plan B)
export a still form your project (=just as reference for following procedure)
use any pic processor (Photoshop Elements/Pixelmator/..) which allows 'layers'.
use exported still as background
add as many titles where you want .. (keep in mind, video! no small fonts, no serifs, no too bright colors...)
replace background layer by pure Green
export as jpeg
import to iMovie, use Greenbox effect to add video.

In order to have a nicer backdrop using the themes in imovie...i have tried playing with the settings...however the theme seem like only last a few short secs..and the max images that i can put in it is around 7-8. Can i put in more than that? Is there a way for me to control the animation at a slower speed? The animation seem interesting..but it only last a while..is it possible to carry on the theme..all the way..4mins..without letting the audienece actually see that it is looping or repeating?

the Themes are not meant as 'backgrounds' or 'borders' but as a short preview of what to come, an interlude, a segmentation in a movie ...
so, afaik, I don't see any option to modify the Theme for your needs..
... for sure, you could make a 'screenshot' of a Theme (Apple-Shift-4) and use that screenshot as 'template' in any pic processor (Photoshop/Elements) to add your pictures ... but, that is a still, no motion ...

How can i get TIGHT and FAT TOMS ?

Hi,
i am discovering the pleasure of EzDrummer on Logic w/ the multichannel mode.
You can really get olmost any kind of genre-sound out of it, amazing.
but i am having some "problems" w/ the toms.
They sound good, open and natural ..but even too much! when i try to define the sound a little bit i never get to the sound i have in mind. i'm trying to get a very tight and fat sound, w/ a good punch and body.
I know how to get it from kick drum and snare, but ..man, working w/ toms is nothing easy!
P.S. obviously you're more than welcome even if you don't run EzDrummer!

In addition to the samples that come with EZD (the pop/rock kit with GMS toms) do you have any of the expansion packs? The Sonor toms in the DFH EXS might be more what you're looking for.
You could always use the entire kit in multi-channel turning off the toms, and use the Sonor toms only from another (stereo) instance of EZD with the just the Sonors, turning off all other kit elements.
Also, sometimes I've found that removing the O/H and room mics from the first instance gives you more scope for compression and EQ'ing, and then the second instance of EZD is used to just add back cymbals.
Other than that, the suggestions you've already received re: gating. EQ and compression might be your answer.
