HP dm1 4000-series keyboards

Hi, I bought HP dm1-4310nr netbook from US and run into a problem.
As you know US uses different keyboard layout than we here in Europe.
I was hoping to replace the keyboard from my pc by buying nordic version from ebay.
Only flaw is that there isn't any version of this precise keyboard model in market though.
Is some other 4000-series's keyboard compatible with this one?

Hi,
You bought a special edition (suffix nr) therefore you can't find keyboard in other region. You can easily find keyboard for your region if you bought a normal dm1 machine as shown on page 43 of the following document:

Mac Pro OSX 10.8.3 HP 4000 series scanners are not detecting.

Well..I think, I did everything. I have followed all instructions recommended by HP. I have updated and installed latest drivers. I have even searched the warez sites to find a trick. Useless, useless and useless.
Hardware is retina display with 256 GB SSD, 1600 mGz 8 GB ram and I7 processor. OSX version is 10.8.3
HP 4000 series scanners are not detecting by this machine. Vuescan is detecting but the scanning quality is also terrible.
Strange. I have nothing to say.

For the Scanjet 4850, follow the link below and click on the instructions tab. It looks like you have to get the software and drivers for 10.6 and run a patch to make them work with 10.8. That should get the scanner installed and working.

For the Scanjet G4050, all you should need to do is install the driver from the link below to be able to use the scanner with image capture and other similar products.

All,
The issue is i have widespread network connectivity problems that seem to be pointing to a switching situation. Our SQL connectivity to 2 highly visible and mission critical applications are seeing hiccups which are basically screwing up data. I think i see some things but i want to get some other feedback.
A few tidbits of information: the counters were cleared a week or two ago.
Should the CPU utilization be this high on a 4000 series without seeing performance degradation as well?

Also, what interface(s) are the systems connected to? Because I would look at the speed/duplex on both the switchport and the end device(s). Here's another Cisco document to help you.

Dv7-4000 series Bottom case

Hi. I have a DV7-4000 series Laptop (4010TX). By accident I smashed it on a wooden cupboard and the left sided hing and the bottom case were damaged. The lap boots up normally and the cooler fan apprears to be working fine. But a tremendous amount of heat is leaked out from the damaged end requiring me to replace the hing and the plastic (or Fiber) bottom case. Can anyone inform me where to purchase a Bottom Cover for this particular model please. Hing can easily be bought from e-bay, but not the botto case. Thanks.

Printing to HP LaserJet 4000 Series

I have a HP LaserJet 4000 TN and wish to print to it from my G5. I added a printer and included the HP ip address. The HP has an ethernet port so I am going out of ethernet port on the back of my G5. However, it can't find the printer.The printer has the following protocol information:
IP Address: 10.0.0.24
SUBNET MASK: 255.255.255.0 (I don't know what this means or how to use it)
DEF GATEWAY/ Router Address: 192.0.0.192
Also since this ethernet port is also used for my dsl modem can I just go out of the G5 to the router and from there to the printer and dsl modem.
If the HP is connected to my G5 ... can I access it with my G3 (9.2)

That solved it.
Set the Printer IP: to 192.168.1.34
Changed back the Def Gateway: 192.0.0.192 (This just to get it back to the default although it prolly has no impact.)
I have the following printers I would like to be able to use off the router, if possible:
1. Apple Personal LaserWriter NTR is it possible to get that to print off the router as well ... I suppose there must be some conversion to AppleTalk in the hardware mix.
2. HP LaserJet 4MV (I suspect the same process you just work me through)
3. Epson Stylus Color 777i (has a parallel and USB connections)
4. Epson Stylus 1520 ( I put and ethernet card in it quite a while back) right after the light bulb went world wide.
5. Bryce Office Systems 5K (this is an addressing printer for mass mail out ... was pretty old when I got it but there was a path using PowerPrint, the LaserJet 4 driver and a parallel to USB cable.)
6. Last but not least I have a RISO digital duplicator With an Adobe Post Script Rip which I had connected to my G3 via the router I moved to the G5. Since it was connected to the router before I am suspecting the right IP address will get the job done as long as the drivers are avail for OS X.
And they say no good deed goes unpunished. Just kidding. I am not really expecting you to solve all of these six (or any of them for that matter)... just point me in the right direction. One of which just may be the printer boneyard.
I think the HP LaserJet 4MV and Epson 1520 and the RISO may be salvageable because of the ethernet connections.

Printing with a USB/Parallel Printer port connection on an HP LaserJet 4000 series

I have a Laserjet 4000 that is connected to Windows 7 via a usb/parallel port connection. Until earlier today I have always been able to print without a problem. Today however I can documents from the Internet to the printer and when I look at the printer the operating system claims the printer is offline. What do I have to do to be able to print once again?

Error and delayed printing on HP 4000 series PCL

I have an HP 4100 series PCL printer which is connected on a network and accessible by clients as 'peer to peer' (i.e. not through a server). After a command to print, it takes very long (20-30 minutes) to print even if it is one page!!. Printer IP address on clients is all correct.
I have noticed that when I go the Devices and Printers, I see my default printer (the HP 4100 PCL) but on its side is a duplicate HP 4100 PCL showing ERROR. Even if I delete the duplicate printer icon, it still will take long to print. On the next print, the duplicate printer icon (with error) reappears.
Please help!!

Steel series keyboard layout?

Hi,
Do you know if in Europe GS70 has QWERTY keyboad layout only, or they have specialized per country, like AZERTY in France, german letters in Germany, etc?
Because I need QWERTY, but i'm afraid to order it from a different country

Just like you mentioned, some country like France, Germany... has their specialized keyboard layout.
If you need QWERTY, I'll suggest you to check with your local MSI retailer and see if your country has QWERTY layout keyboard.
If not, either you can buy the QWERTY layout from another country, or you can also ask your local service center to order one piece of QWERTY layout keyboard for you and you can buy the keyboard and exchange it.

MSI Ge70 2oc Steel series keyboard

I bought a second hand MSI GE70 2oc laptop and I am not quite sure about its keyboard. I see LEDs beneath each keys and it also have a light button beside the turbo fan. Is this unit has keyboard light? If so, how am I going to turn it on? I press that button but nothing happens. Do I need to download drivers or any program? Thank you so much.

HDMI + VGA Question // HP DV7-4000 series.

Dear Friends,
I have a question about usig external monitor(s) with my HP DV7. The specific model # is DV7-4287cl
I have both an HDMI port and a VGA port on this model. I plan to use an external monitor with it but I wonder if it is not possible to use two external monitors with it given I have two separate ports?
This may be a dumb question but I have a specific need to use an external monitor with my notebook, and having two instead of one wouldn't be a bad option.

You can use one external monitor. The hdmi port will provide a much clearer sharper picture, but either that or the vga port will be acceptable. Two outputs is the limit of the video card, and one of those is always the built in laptop display.

How do I run 4000 series ADAM Modules in LabView

I am trying to operate up to 4 ADAM modules (2 x 4024, 1 x 4012 and 1 x 4060) through LabView 6i running on Windows XP.
I have tried to download and use a copy of the Advantech 32-bit LabVIEW driver from a foreign, non advantech website but when installed the VI's are not accessable on the functions pallet as discribed in the accompanying literature. I am able to talk to the modules using the ADAM utility software (Version 1.53). I am also able to access the modules on Advantech Device Manager though I am not able to OP correctly using the test function.
I am fairly new to Labview and would appreciate a step by step procedure as to where/how I should access the correct drivers and how to install them and to ac
cess the ADAM modules. I belive that once I can get the correct VI's loaded and working I will be able to go from there. Thanks

Attached is a VI that generates the string needed to set all relays of the ADAM 4060 using one command...
Follow the same pattern (i.e. header format etc.) when you implement the rest of the needed commands.

Cisco 4000 & 3000 series ip route & ip default gateway

I have Enterprise Network Contain :
- Foundry Big Iron work on layer 3 , and Combination of 4000 and 3000 and 2000 cisco switches work on layer 2;
management network for the switches is 192.168.100.0
Foundry Big Iron is 192.168.100.1
i use ip default-gateway 192.168.100.1 on all cisco switches.
all other subnets route through the foundry.
but when i ping from any subnet (192.168.15.0) to any 3000 or 2000 switches series it replay and when i ping to 4000 series it don't replay.
when i use default route command on 4000 series it replay.
i need some explanation

In the original post it describes the Cisco switches as operating as layer 2 switches and I assume that in terms of how they are configured to forward traffic all the Cisco switches including the 4000 are configured only for layer 2 forwarding. But with IP routing enabled (as seems to have been the case on the 4000) the behavior of the switch becomes a bit different. In particular is the difference in how you identify the default route. For a switch that is layer 2 only you use the default-gateway command (which apparently worked fine for the 2000 and 3000 switches). But when you enable IP routing then the switch does not use the default-gateway to learn its default route and would look for some other mechanism to learn its default route. I am assuming that there was not any other mechanism and so the 4000 basically did not have a default route. When you configure no ip routing (which was good advice from Paul) then the 4000 stops working as layer 2 switch and at that point will use default-gateway to determine its default route.

Upgrading a nonbacklit keyboard with a backlit one

Hi I am trying to upgrade my pavillion dv6t-quad core with a backlit keyboard, preferrably of a different color then just black. Since I got one that did not come with a backlit keyboard is it possible to do this upgrade? If so can you recommend a good site with reasonable prices where I can get the part? I need to know your exact model number. A few versions of the dv6 do allow a nonbacklit to be replaced with a backlit but only a very few models. The general rule is that you cannot. I believe the ones where it can work are in the dv6-3000 and dv6-4000 series so they are a few years old now.

Printing from a 32 bit client in a 64 bit environment (laserjet 4000 n with windows 7)

I have a HP laserjet 4000n connected to a 64 bit windows 7 machine. Another client (32 bit) on my network wants to print to that printer. I saw on the support website instructions for how to do this:

So far, I have installed the 64 bit driver (just re-installed and I can print from the 64 bit server).
I then downloaded the 32 bit driver files (for PCL 5) and saved them.
I then went to the printing properties of the printer and chose advanced drivers and checked the box "x86". The instructions called for finding the file "hpcuXXXc.inf". In the printer driver folder, there were 2 subfolders - one marked 64 bit and inside that folder was a file "hpcu112t.inf" (file ends in "t" not "c") - so I chose that file and pressed ok and got the following error message:
The specified location does not contain the driver HP LaserJet 4000 Series PCL5 for the requested processor architecture.
I then downloaded more drivers (for PCL 6 - even though my printer is labelled PCL 5). This time, I got no 64 bit subfolder (only one folder labelled windows vista). However , there WAS a file labelled "hpcu112c" this time - so I chose that and still got the same error message.

Windows 7 64 bit is able to run 32 bit programs. However, some programs will have issues.
Have you checked your programs against the Windows 7 compatibility list: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=2394
This should tell you if they are compatible or not with Windows 7 64-bit.
There are compatibility settings that you can try once you have installed the software also. Right click on the shortcut and choose properties, then go to the compatibility tab and try the various OS settings.
If those things fail, then you should try Windows XP Mode (convenience link: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx). This will allow you to install your programs in a virtual copy of Windows XP SP3 using Windows Virtual PC. Once XP Mode is installed, when you install your software into it, you will get a shortcut to use the program from your Windows 7 start menu without even seeing the XP Mode window.
