HP DM3 - Mouse Freeze's up when the computer wakes up from sleep mode.

Hi Guys,
I just had a DM3 with the 2.26 sp9300 intel chip built for me and every time the laptop goes to sleep and wakes up the mouse freezes up with a magnifying glass and its impossible for the mouse to do anything.  I have to tab over to the task manager and tab down to the power button to restart my PC and than it works again. Anyone know whats going on?  Driver problem? any updates yet?
Thanks !!
Jon

Hello,
I picked up my DM3 from PCWorld last night and I'm having the same problem every time (4 times) when I've closed the lid and re-open it again.  The magnifying glass appears and I can't move the pointer using the trackapd and have to restart the machine to gain control again.
Any word from HP on a solution?
thansk,
Cat

  • Short flickering when the notebook wakes up from sleep mode MacBook Pro Late 2013

    Hello everyone!
I have a question concerning the display of my new MacBook Pro with retina display (late 2013).
Sometimes when opening the lid when the notebook wakes up from sleep mode, the display is flickering for like two seconds. Then everything is normal again.
This specially occurs when the lid has been closed for a longer time. It makes no difference if the power adapter is plugged in or not.
Have you experienced a similar flickering with your MacBook Pro?
    Thank you in advance!

    Hello!
I have the same problem with my late 2012 MacBook Pro Retina. The constant flickering after being awoken from sleep was a minor annoyance for me so I contacted Apple Support.
I shall explain what I have done thus far, and I recommend you follow the same steps as I did to tick off possible causes:
Firstly, I reset my PRAM (http://support.apple.com/kb/ph14222) and SMC (ttp://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964).
The issue still remained so I checked if the flickering occurred in a new user (if it does not then it points to your account having a setting which is causing the flickering - possibly third party). For me the flickering continued so I tested it in Safe Boot (which worked fine!).
I then ran (just to be certain) the Apple Hardware Test (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1509). All seemed to be OK. So I reinstalled OS X and still the issue remained.
It was then I had an Apple Support person 'screen share' with me and we went through certain folders. My GPU folder had an unusual amount of files so we trashed them and began a restart however this led to a bigger problem; my notebook wouldn't boot (not even in Safe Boot!), so be very weary at this stage, I'm not sure if this was a rare case or we deleted something we shouldn't have. I then had to go into recovery mode to get back to square one.
Back to the initial problem I reinstalled a 'clean' OS X version from recovery mode; this was to determine whether if the data is corrupted on my account or if it's something else; most likely hardware by now even if there was nothing that came up in the hardware test (it won't account for everything). I checked from both a backup of my data and then from a fresh user after reinstalling OS X and still the flickering continued.
It was then a Senior Apple Support person set up an appointment to have my MacBook looked at and possibly repaired (it could be a minor wire causing the problem).
That is the point I am at now, so for my case it seems like a minor hardware problem. If your case is as similar as mine I recommend making an appointment with them to run more sophisticated hardware tests that your own MacBook would not run.
I will comment again when my issue is completely resolved for those who come across this Discussion in the future.
    Hope this helps!

  • Magic mouse not working when my computer wakes up from sleep mode sometimes

This does not happen all the time but it is starting to happen more and more. When my iMac is asleep and I wake it up the mouse is non responsive. I have looked at the green indicator light on the magic mouse and it does not respond as well. I have turned the mouse off then back on and that does nothing. I thank this may be a Bluetooth problem because I have tried this with 2 magic mice. The only way I can get it to work is to restart the computer.
    Please advise??

I would add the mouse to bluetooth favorites in System Preferences > bluetooth > Highlight mouse on the left > click gear icon below this list > click "show more info" if not already checked > click the gear icon again and "add to favorites".
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TA21371
If that doesn't do it then a SMC reset might be in order:

  • My imac freezes , need to restart everytime i wake it from sleep mode. just started happening 2 weeks ago.

For about 2 weeks whenever I return to my imac and tap the mouse to wake it from sleep mode my screen is frozen. I have tried to wait for it to unfreeze but it doesnt wake. I cannot get any results from using the mouse or the keyboard. I always have to hard reset the computer to be able to use computer again. My mac is a year old. Anyone have any thoughts as to why tis is happening? Thanks

If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time when you had the problem. Post the messages logged before the boot, while the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down. Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract.
Post the log text, please, not a screenshot. If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message. When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into a message.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.
    Step 2
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the entire contents of the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • My fans don't go above 2000 rpm when my computer wakes up from sleep

Only when I shut down my computer, and turn it back on do they work. Is there any hope this will get fixed?

What do you do when it behaves correctly immediately after an SMC reset but then the issue persists and the fans fail to increase speed after he wakes the computer up from sleep?
To test, I would back the drive up and install a fresh system to eliminate a software issue.

  • When trying to log back from sleep mode, the screen behaves as a rotating cube, with the mouse pointer in the top left corner. Hangs.

    iMac OS X Ver 10.7.3
    21.5 Inch, Mid 2011
    2.5 FHz intel Core 5
    12 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
When the computer in woken from sleep mode we see two login options (bineg used by two users).
But when we try to login, the screen just behaves as a sluggish rotating cube.
Nothing works, we just have to hard boot at this time.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Will accountability software still pick up unsuitable browsing when the computer is in private browsing mode?

That depends. If they're reading Firefox files to see if you're visiting certain sites, then it won't show up. However if they're watching (or blocking) your network traffic or other things outside of Firefox, then they'll still be able to detect what sites you're visiting.

Okay, I seem to have solved the problem I posted about earlier.  I noticed that the language preference in the upper right hand corner of the screen (between the date and time and the Spotlight icon) had somehow gotten switched from American English to French.  When I switched it back to American English, my password worked when waking the computer from sleep mode.  I have no idea why changing the language preference would affect the way the password works but that seems to have been the case.  I'll post again if I experience more problems.

  • Gen 4 iPad will wake up from "sleep mode" on its own and stay on till fully discharged, getting fairly hot in the process

Gen 4 iPad will wake up from "sleep mode" on its own and stay on till fully discharged, getting fairly hot in the process

I think I have the same problem. The whole sequence is:
    * Put MacBook Pro to sleep by closing lid.
    * After some period of time that varies, I notice sleep LED is no longer pulsing.
    * The case is VERY hot.
    * When I open the lid, the display stays black.
    * No sequence of keys or closing/opening lid wakes display.
    * Only way to recover is to power cycle.
    * Problem is VERY intermittant -- I do not know how to reproduce it at will. AppleCare service had it for a whole week and couldn't reproduce it, whereas for me it occurs once every 1 or 2 days.
    Actions:
    * AppleCare service replaced the main logic board in early June, but it didn't help.
    * I did a clean erase and install, but it didn't help.
    * AppleCare service had the unit for a full week in July and couldn't reproduce the problem, so they returned it and it still had the problem.
I have a Logitech Bluetooth mouse, don't know model other than M-RBB93. I'll UNset "Allow Bluetooth to wake..." and will also turn off the bluetooth mouse before closing lid. I'll post my results.
Meanwhile, please let me know if anyone determines a solution!

  • P67A-GD55(B3) freezes on wake up from sleep mode (active control center)

    Hi,
Problem with my PC lock screen freezes on wake up from sleep mode (active control center)
When in sleep mode while using the control center on Windows, wake-up, freezes the lock screen.
So, turn off the power. Then after about 3 seconds long, starts up automatically. And also freezes the lock screen.
So, turn off the main power wait a while and it recovers.
If not running the utility control center, no problem.
( fan control only on the control center. Does not overclock ) control center 2.2.098 ~ 2.5.045 similar problem.
    System:
    MSI P67A-GD55 (B3) - BIOS 1.19
    i5 - 2500K
    Mem: Patriot PVV38G2000ELK 2x4GB (use 1866)

    PSU: Antec HCP-750
    HDD: OCZ Agility4 128GB,  2nd seagate ST3500418AS 500GB
    OS: Win8 x64
    Sorry for poor English

in that case (no install),Sleep & wake-up to no problem.
CC is installed state. If not running the CC on Windows, it's no problem.

  • Thunderbolt ethernet not working when computer wake up from sleep.

thunderbolt ethernet not working when computer wake up from sleep.
it will not happen in Mountain loin.

I had this problem on SL and on Lion as well, and it occures for WiFi and Ethernet connections.
In fact the internet connection was not broken as I could ping the destination usin the IP (not DNS name).
In this case the problem was related to mDNSResponder task which handles all dns queries.
It was the most frequent problem in my day to day work with SL and now Lion. It was never fixed by any patch from Apple. I tried almost all voodoo including fresh install, all possible config changes - no solution.
The only version with no problems related to network was 10.5.8. All the other versions had issues of different kind (WiFi instability (lost signal), DNS problems (for wireless and wired connection) sometimes associated with machine sleep and wake up and sometimes with no reason.
QUESTION: Is your problem independent of the access point / router you connect to.
I must say networking was (and still is) the weakest part, besides the other OS X weaknesses I experienced during 4 years of OS X usage.
No problems in the same network with Linux or Windows beeing ran natively on my iMac So hardware is OK.
Software is of poor quality. Not much more to say in this matter.
I found a very interesting article dated 1996 about programming which I think is still valid.
    Link to the article: http://www.fastcompany.com/magazine/06/writestuff.html
Below the fragment (with some connection to Apple)
Software is everything. It also s***s.

  • DV8T Fan grinding sound when opening lid or returning from sleep mode

I don't know if this is a normal thing, but not always, Id say 50% of the time when the computer wakes or I open the lid there is a breif grinding sound coming from the top left area of the body of the notebook. I am pretty sure it is the fan and im wondering if this is going to eventually lead to a ballance issure with the fan causing it to fail and ultimatly kill the CPU.

I'm having a similar problem that I may have cracked. My screen is on but the backlight is off (so the image is practically 100% on resume from hibernate. Have you reset the pram and cleared the smc?

  • 10.7.3 issues with reconnecting to the Internet after waking from sleep mode?

My iMac worked great until this last update. Now it does not connect to the internet after I wake it from sleep mode. Any fixes?

I have a similar issue.  My connection has been rock-solid since we went to Uverse, and now my computer loses the internet every 60-90 minutes or so. Driving me nuts.  iPhone still on wireless router to internet, so problem seems to be computer.

  • After the computer is awoken from Sleep...

After the computer is awoken from Sleep, Safari and Chrome  cnnot find servers to access internet.  Only happened since installig 10.9.2 - i have to reboot everyday!
What can I do to resolve not having to do this?

Is your Network Services Order set correctly...?
If you are connected to the Internet with an Ethernet cable, then Ethernet should be set first.
If you are connected to the Internet using Wi-Fi, then Wi-Fi should be set first.
Example: My Mac is connected to the Internet using an Ethernet connection.
If not, then click on the cog and correctly set your Service Order.

  • Why are Mail and Firefox swapping places when the computer wakes, and how can I make them stop?

If I put my MacBook Air to sleep with Firefox as the top application, when I wake the computer, Mail will jump to the top. If Mail is on top when the computer sleeps, when I wake the computer, Firefox will leap to the top.
This has only happened for the last week or two; the two aps have otherwise coexisted peacefully for the last couple years.
Does anyone know what's happening and how to make it stop?
