HP Drive Encryption - Windows 8.1 - HP ELitebook Folio 1040 G1

In HP Drive Encryption version 8.6.5.142 om my Elitebook with Win 8.1 Pro i check de drives, make a key backup and reboot.Then everything looks ok. The system tells the drive is in dutch "Coderen" (i think in English something like encoding).
The rectangle progressbar is grey and stays grey. Even after more days.
It looks like nothing happens. No error but no progress.
I like to protect my drive but it doesn't work. Any suggestions?

FDE - HP Elitebook Folio 1040

Can anyone help me with the dmi settings for a HP Elitebook Folio 1040? When I enable FDE the laptop will not boot anymore. So I saw an article how to run dmiconfig.
But when I run dmiconfig.exe export --force I get the folowing errors:
failed to open /etc/dmi.ini
failed to open /etc/dmi.default.ini
The ini file are not created.
The Laptop run Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit.

Elitebook Folio 1040 ForcePad problems

Hi.
I was hoping to get a suggestion for this issue here. After upgrading to the latest Synaptics Forcepad driver for the Folio 1040, I'm having trouble with the 'force' clicks. I have Windows 8.1 x64 installed. Reverting to the previous driver works fine but the CPU usage is really high, which seems to be fixed in the newer driver. However, while the 'tapping' clicks work fine, no force-based gestures (like press down to scroll faster) are working. The edge swipes for the charms bar and app switching works, however. The only problem is it's not detecing force anymore.
What could be the problem? I went through the ForcePad settings and everything is as configured on the old driver.
Help would be appreciated.

Elitebook Folio 1040 G1 - LAN/WLAN Switching

Good day, We are currently receiving reports from our Folio 1040 G1 users regarding Freeze / WLAN / LAN issues.As you probably know, the Folio 1040 G1 has an external adapter that provides LAN and VGA ports.All of our laptops have WLAN/LAN Swicthing enabled. We tried different scenarios and were able to reproduce the problem:- Laptop has wireless button off and is shut down. External LAN/VGA Adapter is disconnected.- The laptop is started. External LAN/VGA Adapter is still disconnected. The wireless button is white (ON). No wireless network appear in the list (altough we have wireless networks available). When opening HP Connection Manager the WLAN status is "Disabled by LAN/WLAN switching". To solve this issue we can do 2 things:- Connect the external LAN/VGA adapter - This enables the wireless adapter and the users can connect to a wireless network. When the external LAN/VGA adapter is connected the computer stay freeze 50% of the times until we connect a network cable to the LAN port.- Disable WLAN/LAN Switching on the BIOS - The issue doesn't appear but users stay connected to wireless and wired networks. We don't want this to happen. We are using W7 Pro/Ent x64.Bios version is 1.32Drivers are the latest versions available from Softpaq. A similar problem existed with the 840 G1 but found to be a driver version issue. The same solution didn't help in the Folio 1040G1. Can anyone reproduce the issue ?Any guidance / opinions ? Hi: What model wireless card does your notebook have? it needs an Intel wifi card that support widi. I used this tool to enable screen mirroring. I really like the new ForcePad and I would like to use it at work.
I use external keyboard and monitor at work and cannot work with Forcepad integrated in Laptop. Is there any way to connect the Forcepad externally via USB or similar?

Bit locker drive encryption failed due to power failer and hard disk corrupted

I ran Bitlocker drive ecryption drive D. My pc is windows 7 ultimate, while it was in progress of 1% due to power failer the encryption failed, when power resume the drive didn't showed the file format nor the size but it shows the size in disk management.
It showed like this in My computer
I do Have the recovery code password and back of recovery password so I ran the "manage-bde-_unlock D:-rp[my code ]
and my pc got hang no other option rather than to press the restart button.
then I used commang "repair-bde -force D:I:-rp[my rp] and following info showed but it stucked in 1% about 8 hours, and there was no increase in the pecentage
I also connected the hardisk to mac but all othe partation showed but didn't showed the encrypted one.
I had lots of memorable picture and other backups so any one kindly help me to get out of this problem. Thanks for help

The BitLocker encryption and decryption processes can be interrupted by turning the computer off, and it will resume where it left off the next time Windows starts. This is true even if the power is suddenly unavailable.
Bitlocker-repair (repair-bde) tool
can't repair a drive that failed during the encryption or decryption process.
In addition, could you please explain a bit for what drive you are trying to deal with? external one?
When you first restart your PC, have you seen any signs that indicate that the encryption is in process?

HP EliteBook Folio 1040G1 - pxe boot for imaging

Afternoon
I am needing to image an HP EliteBook Folio 1040 G1 and assume I need to use a PXE bootable USB NIC.
I have tried both a Startech and RealTek but does not seem to recognize it.
Can someone tell me what to use to image this laptop from my network.

Bit Locker Drive Encryption of Windows Vista

Have just downloaded the Bios Upgrade version 2.2 (QG40 BIOS_W220.exe), but I inadvertently omitted to turn the 'Bit Locker Drive Encryption of Windows Vista' off first, as Toshiba had advised.
Is there any corrections I can make to rectify this omission and ensure the G40 and the software operate correctly?

1. What am I actually trying to do overall by downloading and using the suggested application.? Can you give me some overall picture of what I am trying to do?
2. Does this fix the problem without me having to make choices--is it self sufficient/self-installing?
3. Will it return the system to its correct operational settings before I downloaded the Bios upgrade?
4. I have downloaded the application suggested, but when I try to open the file it sends up a message that reads:
Error; this installer does not contain any compressed files. To create a self extracting installation package (with embedded files) run:
"TrueCrypt Setup.exe" /p
When I press OK, it simply reverts to the downloaded list which has the TrueCrypt v7.0 included, but nothing else happens.
What do I need to do to fully install the application?
5. Are there any other steps /inclusions that I need to make to fully correct my 'stupidity'?

TrueCrypt 6.2 system drive encryption hangs system sometimes a day

Hi,
I use truecrypt for years with xp and vista - last with Vista and T500, a few weeks ago I installed windows 7 x64 rtm. Every thing works fine and so I checked step by step my usual installed apps and tools.
I see win7 is not supported by truecrypt but seems to work fine. But sometimes (one or two a hour) my system hangs for about 10 to 40 seconds. So I decided to go step by step backwards and removed installed tools.
Removing TC solved my problem. Has anybody seen the same (TC6.2 on Win7 ult. x64 using Lenovo T500 with Intel SSD)?

I have exactly the same problem, but with a HP Elitebook 2530p
TrueCrypt 7.0a
Windows 7 x64
SSD drive, but had the same problem on my traditional HDD.
The interval is somewhat longer for me, maybe a few times a day.
And, just as you discovered, removing truecrypt system encryption resolves the issue. Wonder if it's an issue with just the system drive encryption thingy, or it affects all systems having encrypted volumes opened?

How to get rid of drive encryption?

I don't know if this is the right place to post this. If not, please redirect to me the appropiate place. I have a HP Elitebook Folio 9470m with Windows 7 Pro x64. Previous user configured Drive Encryption through HP Protect Tools. Everytime the laptop is turned on it asks for password before booting up into anything. I know the password but I want to get rid of this. I tried reformatting the C drive partition and installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 but I still get the login screen for booting up. How can I get rid of this? Is this configured on the BIOS? If I reformat the whole hard drive, including the Master Boot Record, will that get rid of the drive encryption?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I suggest you read the protect tools manual for your model at the link below and see if there is anything there for how to remove the drive encryption. I am pretty sure you will have to remove it thru that program.

Hard Drive Encryption Issue

This is in regard to hard drive encryption issues in my USB Hard drive. I have Windows 7. I was encrypting my USB hard drive and
was able to enter a password. However, I did not receive any prompt to save the Bitlocker recovery key. During encryption process, I received an error. The encryption process was unsuccessful. However, now when I plug-in the hard drive, I receive the
following message on the status bar:

When I try to open the drive, it asks for a password. When I enter the password, I am receiving the following error message:
Bitlocker Drive Encryption failed to recover from an abruptly terminated conversion. This could be due to either all conversion logs being corrupted or the media
being write-protected.
I have read that Bitlocker repair tool can help resolve this issue.
However, I just have the password that I had set to encrypt the drive and Bitlocker recovery key identification. Can this help to get access to my hard drive data using the Bitlocker tool.

Is Diskpart unable to clean bitlocker encrypted Windows 8 to go installations?

Hi all.
I am aware that this is a configuration that not many of you will have, but worth a try...
I am running windows 8.1 enterprise x64 installed on a USB drive as windows to go. The USB drive is a supported one for this configuration, Kingston Data Traveller 32 GB. Also I use bitlocker to encrypt the whole drive and all works very nice.
Lately however, I wanted to restore an image backup to the drive, so I plugged it into another pc running windows 8.1 enterprise.
The imaging software however was not able to write to the drive and told me, it is in use. So I looked at explorer, but it was not even mounted, which is expected behavior with windows 8.1.
To overcome the problem, I tried to clean the drive using diskpart and this is where the question starts: Although diskpart told me that cleaning was successful, the imaging software was still not able to write to the drive! So I said, "damn
it, win8.1, what's wrong? I'll use windows 7 to replay the image to the drive!"
On windows 7 I was flabbergasted after inserting the drive: I was presented a message from bitlocker to go which asked me for the password (which I provided and which worked). I did not get that on 8.1!
Attention, the question is right here:
Why is diskpart unable to clean the drive? Why does it tell me "cleaning was successful" (and I could verify that, partitions were indeed removed) although it is obviously unable to remove the bitlocker info?
So far, my understanding of diskpart's clean command was that it completely resets the drive.
Am I right, or what did I miss? Is diskpart not supported on "windows 8.1 to go"?

I dont think diskpart will remove bitlocker encryption.. To remove encryption you must use decryption method.. If you have forgotten password you have to use bitlocker recovery key

Drive encrypted using Bitlocker...encrypting backup on Server 2008

I've seen this topic discussed a few times but with very little real explanation on how to do this.
I have several servers for several customers that now must be encrypted. I've run a few tests with our own internal servers and one user server and the drive encryption goes off without a hitch.
Encrypting their backups however is still an issue. Usually they are setup with 2 drives, one on site, one off. Obviously the one on site is a theft issue so it defeats the purpose of encrypting the server if there is an un-encrypted backup.
Bit Locker to Go is an R2 feature, isn't it? Plus when you setup a drive for Windows backup, it formats the drive so is Bitlocker even usable?
The whole idea of encrypting their drives concerns me because of recovering the data/server after a crash. We use encrypted online back up but the need to do a bare metal restore is the part that concerns me. I even thought of adding a third drive to the mix just to be overly redundant(paranoid).
What is the best way to handle this? How does it work in the event of a server crash, how do you do a bare metal restore with a bit locker drive?

You can bitlock a portable drive for Server 2012 R2 backup as follows:
Using Essentials, the first time you use the drive
1. Start the dashboard and go to the Storage Tab and select
Disks
2. Click on the new drive and add it to the backup. Give it a unique label. Backup will format it and remove the drive letter.
3. Go to the start screen and start Administrative tools | Computer management
4. Find Disk Management and scroll down to find your backup disk.
5. Right click on the disk block and choose Change Drive Letter and Paths.
Add a drive letter.
6. Open This PC and right click on your drive. Choose
Turn on Bitlocker.
7. Give the disk a password and save or print the key. Choose to encrypt used space only.
8. When Bitlock finishs encrypting the drive, click on the Manage Bitlocker link at the bottom of the progress screen. Find your disk and click the dropdown arrow. Click on
Turn on Auto-unlock. (Auto-unlock greatly simplifies swapping disks. However, my experience has been it will not reliably unlock the disk after a restart or power failure. You may have to log in for the disk to be reconnected.)
9. You can use Disk Manager as you did before to
Remove the drive letter. It can be handy for verifying the disk's status or distinguishing multiple disks, but you don't really need it.
10. Close everything up. You are good to go. After this, the disk can be replaced using the normal procedures for swapping USB drives.

BitLocker Drive Encryption Recovery Key

I have a Dell Optiplex 7010 running Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit. Intermittently when booting the computer the Windows BitLocker Drive Encryption Recovery Key Entry screen shows up. Most of the time I can power off the computer and then turn it back on and
it loads Windows without that screen showing up. If powering it off and back on again doesn’t get me past the Windows BitLocker Drive Encryption Recovery Key screen, I will enter the recovery key.
I have already reimaged the computer, replaced the hard drive, cleared Bitlocker Cache in the BIOS and have updated the BIOS to the latest version.
Any ideas to keep the Windows BitLocker Drive Encryption Recovery Key Entry screen from showing up?

Did you mean you have re-install the OS? Did you use another clean image rather than capturing the old OS?
Did you encrypt the OS partition?
Please use below command to check the status:
manage-bde -status
If there is any volume is encrypted, use below command to turn it off:
manage-bde -off C:
