HP DV 6958se windows 7 SSD overheats

The ssd is a Kingston SSDNow V series and the problem is that it overheats to 53-56 degrees celsius on idle. I also found it buzzard that my original hdd ran 42-46 degrees idle. Usually ssd sould run cooler than most ssd. I've also connected my ssd to my desktop to make a comparison and the result is around 40-42 degrees celsius.
When I installed my ssd to my desktop, the driver is registered as SNV425S212GB SCSI while my laptop registers it as SNV425S2128GB ATA and im not really sure what the difference is anyway

LENOVO U310, windows 7, SSD drive showing in bios but not in the disk management

Hi,
I recently installed windows 7.
But after installing I found out the the computer is not waking from sleep. When I enter the password and press enter the screen becomes blank. I have to again restart the system.
Doing some googling I found out that SSD drive does the caching when iRST is used.
So I tried to look for SSD in the Disk management, But I can see only 1 500 GB HHD. It doesn't show the SSD drive.
Even the Intel Rapid Storage technology is not detecting. It shows internal empty port 0.
But when I checked in the BIOS, in the system information i can see the SSD mentioned.
If any one of you have faced the same problem and/or know some work around then please help.

1.) The drive is formatted MBR w/ win 8 features enabled / legacy disabled.
2.) A "dynamic" drive is present.

Can I bootcamp Windows on SSD instead of Fusion Drive?

I have a base retina iMac which I have boot camp Windows 8.1 on it. However, I would like to know if I can improve the performance of Windows 8.1, like installing Windows 8.1 on SSD part instead of HDD?
If not, how can I improve the performance of windows 8 on fusion drive?

How do i install Windows on SSD with a Fusion Drive?

Hello everyone,
i currently have a perfectly working iMac late 2013 with 1TB Fusion Drive.
I would like to install Windows INSIDE A SSD PARTITION.
Classic bootcamp will store Windows inside the mechanical hd and this slows things...
How do i put windows inside the SSD? Does anyone have a step by step tutorial?

Windows 7 SSD Install - SLOW with Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R

Hey guys,
I've been trying to reinstall Windows 7 onto this SSD for the past few hours. The bad thing about it, is that 1. When I try to reformat the drive via the installation disk (or even DiskPart), the format fails. I have to format the disk via Minitool Partition
Wizard. I believe that's irrelevant.
When trying to install Windows 7 with a GA-EP45-UD3R motherboard, I get to the expanding windows files portion and it's DEATHLY slow. For example, I let it sit there from 0% and it got to 14% within an hour. Mathematically speaking, that's a total of 6 and
a half hours for a Windows 7 install.
The SSD is plugged in with a typical SATA cable, but I just don't know what else to do at this point. I've disabled my floppy drive, entered the controller via AHCI mode. No avail.
Does anyone have any idea of what it could be?

It can be something related to hardware only, are all the devices compatible to each other ? BIOS updated?

How do I install windows on SSD and use HDD as data + program storage?

I just bought a 240 gb SSD drive, it's installed on my X220t laptop and now I'm about to install windows onto it. Before I do that, how do I make sure that I clean install windows 7 on my SSD drive, and have my current drive set as a backup drive for data/programs that I don't use much? I need to keep the data that's on the HDD right now, can I transfer data between the drives?

Disabling Fusion Drive and Installing Windows on SSD of Late 2012 iMac

Hi, everyone. After a two-year wait, I'm ready to buy my first iMac (was waiting for USB 3.0). Before I get into my questions, I'll give you an overview of where I'm coming from so we can keep the discussion focused.
My Usage
I'm buying an Apple computer because it is the best-looking, quietist, and most powerful all-in-one computer I can find right now, but Windows is still my preferred operating system. I've used OS X before – it looks great and I'm sure it works great for a large number of people, but it's not for me. Windows works well and efficiently for me and I have thousands of dollars of design software for Windows. I'm not interested in a virtualization solution because of my performance needs. However, I do want to keep the OS X installation, if possible, for website testing and to play around with to learn the operating system better.
What I Want
I was attempting to buy the Late 2012 iMac last weekend, but it appears the BootCamp specifications and the Fusion Drive are currently limiting my usage needs. I'm configuring the top model iMac with the i7-3770 processor, 24GB RAM (8 default + 16 from Crucial), GTX 680MX, and the 3TB Fusion Drive. I don't actually want to use the Fusion Drive, though. I want Windows 7 64-bit and OS X 10.8 installed on the 128GB SSD and to use the 3TB hard drive as storage for my music, videos, photos, and documents.
My Questions
1. I've found a bunch of posts regarding installing Windows on the Fusion Drive, but they all seem to be about putting Windows on the slower 3TB hard drive portion and/or about trying to keep the Fusion setup after installing Windows. Does anyone have a walk-through for a new Mac user on how to break the Fusion Drive configuration and install Windows 7 and preferably OS X on just the SSD?
2. I've seen a bunch of posts debating about whether Windows can be installed natively using EFI to bypass the BootCamp limitations. Is this possible? The 21.5" version is running EFI version 2.0, so I can only assume the 27" would too, but it's not been added on the Apple website yet (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1237). From what I understand, Windows requires at least version 2.0 to run in EFI mode. Also, if I am able to get this method to work, will I still be able to install the Windows drivers from the OS X installation USB (or do they even come with USB drives anymore?)?
3. If I have to use BootCamp, I assume I will have to split the 3TB drive into 1TB and 2TB partitions for BootCamp to see it (so Windows can see it). So I'd have Windows 7 and OS X on the SSD, and two storage partitions on the 3TB HDD that would show up as two drives for my files that both operating systems could access. Is this assumption correct?
4. I've seen posts about OS X automatically trying to rebuild the Fusion Drive. Let's say I'm able to get Windows installed on the SSD. Will OS X, or future updates to it, ruin my Windows installation? I would hate to do all this work and then have an Apple update corrupt everything.
I know this is a long post, but I don't want to spend over $3,000 until I can be sure I can make it work for me. Thanks to anyone who can help!

First, an advice: Boot Camp isn't compatible with 3 TB hard disks and Fusion Drive. For 3 TB hard disks, there's a workaround, but it doesn't work on a 3 TB Fusion Drive, so you won't be able to install Windows until Apple fixes this, so my advice is to wait until Apple launches OS X 10.8.3 or buy the iMac with a 1 or 2 TB hard disk and an external disk.
1. The SSD is used automatically by OS X to store the applications and data you most use, but Windows can't use it, and there's no workaround for this.
2. You can try to install Windows 8 in EFI mode, but I don't guarantee that it works. I tried it on my iMac and I started getting BSODs after some startups. Also, Macs don't use UEFI 2.0 (Macs use EFI 1.x), so you can't use Windows 8 advanced features such as Secure Boot. For Windows 7, you can't install it in EFI mode (it requires UEFI 2.0 or later)
3. Fusion Drive only allows you to have two volumes, and with Boot Camp, you can only have two volumes on your computer: one for OS X and the other one for Windows. That's because Boot Camp emulates a BIOS to make Windows run (although it isn't neccesary in Windows 8, if Apple would want).
4. First, you can't install Windows on the SSD. Then, OS X shouldn't ruin Windows because each operating system have got its space

Hey guys, im having trouble installing windows on my Macbook pro.
Recently my harddisk broke down, so i had to buy a new one.
A friend of mine recommended an SSD so i bought one, and installed osx on it without problems.
Then, through bootcamp, i tryed installing windows, when the windows installer starter, after the reboot, i get a blue screen (eeek) and it says
ERROR UNEXPECTED I\O PROBLEM ERROR:0x00000e9
I have tryed installing Parallels, and i get the same error.
I have tryed older versions of windows, and same problem.
I have tryed running diagnostics, through mac and it says my harddisk is fine! i have no idea what to do..
I need windows for some web development and im really stuck.. please can anyone help me out!

ITunes opens in a transparent window on SSD in Windows 8.

Ever since I installed my Samsung SSD I have not been able to open iTunes correctly. It opens as a transparent window with only the searchbox showing up in white.
I have tried reinstalling, opened as administrator, used a different download location? Your help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

X79A GD45 Slow start and slow boot into windows with SSD

Im having some major issues with my X79A GD45 board, When I start the system it takes about 30 seconds sometimes more for something to appear on the screen and from cold boot it starts stops and then starts again before loading.
Once its loaded it is taking forever to get into windows Im running 2 6gb/s SSD's in raid and the windows logo is able to appear and flash 3 or 4 times before I even get into windows.
Ive tried it with just a single drive and re installations of windows but get exacly the same thing its driving me mad as Ive spent so much money on this machine. Details of my system are below:

Updated the SSD Firmwares and it made no difference. Ive already tried single drives and the same. The drives are installed into SATA 1 and SATA2 ports the 6gb/s ones. The hang time is atleast 20 seconds at the splash screen alone before loading into windows. I checked the event log for booting and this is what it showed:

MSI GT60 Windows 8 - SSD Raid is detected as HDD (Optimize)

So I just got the GT60 and I have my OS installed on my Super Raid 128GB setup. The problem I have is that when I went to the "optimize" option of Windows 8, I saw that it detected my SSD Super Raid Setup as HDD and not SSD. I thought analyzing the drive might fix it, but it didn't. Now I'm afraid to optimize it for fear that it will defrag it instead of TRIM.
Edit: Somehow after 2 days of not checking on it, it somehow fixed itself... I don't know how it did it, but I didn't do anything to it other than some Windows updates and app crash fixes. I guess that fixed it...
Well as a side question, should I optimize the other 2 drives that I see?

I have used other benchmarks. Unfortunately mark the same results.
I have also looked at the firmware of the SSD are updated. I tried one without ssd raid, and I get 200mb result of reading and writing 90MB.
Something is wrong, why results so low?
PS: Seen this way, the raid is making me x2 speed, but why the low result?

Installed my SSD from my Windows 8 PC onto it getting the bootmgr is missing. I formatted the SSD but when I try and plug in my external harddrive to restore my mac settings I backed up using time machine, the computer doesn't show it as an option.

I recently bought a MacBook Pro. I had a windows 8 pc that had hardware issues that didn't deal with the harddrive. When I got the mbp, I installed the SSD from my windows 8 pc into the macbook. Before doing this, I made a time machine backup on my external hard drive. When I booted up the macbook pro with the windows 8 SSD in it, windows 8 started up. I tried formating the harddrive from within windows but it wouldn't work. From there, I put a spare windows 7 ultimate disk into the macbook and formatted the hard drive using that. Now, bootmgr is missing error keeps coming up and I can't put my time maching backup onto the macbook. Quick replies are appreciated, thanks!

You need to boot from an OS X installer disc compatible with this model's hardware or you must connect it by Target Disk Mode - Target Disk Mode - so you can re-partition and reformat the hard drive before you can install Mountain Lion on it or any other version of OS X. Here's the process:
Drive Partition and Format
1. Boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
If you are preparing an external or a non-startup drive, then open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.

Installed Windows on second HD (SSD), now extremely slow

I put my new SSD in the main hard drive slow and installed Windows 7. Then put it in the optical drive spot and put the original drive in it's place.
Now when I boot into Windows 7 it takes about 10 minutes and when it finally loads it freezes every few minutes.
Any suggestion?
Is there another way to install Windows? I want to have my OSX on original drive and Windows on second SSD.

I believe it's 2011 Macbook Pro.
I opened Bootcamp assistant and created Windows USB. Then it recognized that I have a second internal drive and I clicked continue. It created BOOTCAMP partition on SSD and restarted but went nowhere.
Then I read online that certain Macs don't boot off USB. So I put my SSD drive in the main hd slot and put the optical drive back. Then I booted through Windows 7 install CD and installed Windows on SSD. Everything seemed to be fine and I was able to boot to Windows.
I took the optical drive out, put SSD in its place and put the original HD back to original spot.
Now I am able to see Windows and OSX through REFIT and can boot into Windows but it is extremely slow and always freezes. I actually think that OSX became slower too.
Not sure if this was the correct way to install it so any suggestions are welcome.
BTW the SSD drive is brand new, so I highly doubt that it has issue.

Speed issues with Windows 8.1, SSD, 32 GB RAM

I have windows 8.1 Pro, 64 bit, with 256 GB SSD containing the OS, 750 GB HDD storing data, 32 GB RAM, and 4 GB VRAM but still it tkaes 4 min to boot, 8 minutes to shutdown. I cannot change pagefile, it resets and goes to windows default, SSD gets full and
freezes the computer.
What should be done to make the computer operate at its best?
I have no virus issues or dirver problem.

In order to diagnose your problem you will need to download and install the below
Install the WPT (windows Performance Toolkit)

When you have, open an elevated command prompt and type the following
WPRUI.exe (which is the windows performance recorder) and check off the boxes for the following:
First level triage (if available), CPU usage, Disk IO.
If your problem is not CPU or HD then check off the relevant box/s as well (for example networking or registry) Please configure yours as per the below snip. This will reboot your computer so save your data before
starting.
Click Start
Let it run for 60 secs or more and save the file (it will show you where it is being saved and what the file is called)
Zip the file and upload to us on Onedrive (or any file sharing service) and give us a link to it in your next post.
