HP DV6 1143tx Ram upgrade

Hi I would like to know if the DV6-1143tx can support DDR3 1333 Sodimm ram. Considering it came with DDR2 but with a maximum possible 8GB of ram.

This notebook will not support DDR3... And yes, you can add yup 8 GB on DDR2 Memory...
This info is avaiable in service and Maintenance guide available on this link... http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01758220.pdf

    Hi,
You should be able to install 16Gb ( 2 x 8Gb Modules ) - as a double-check, see if the System Scanner on the following site agrees.

  • Dv6 7215 Ram Upgrade

    Hello,
I have a  DV6 7215 laptop that I am looking at upgrading to have 16GB of ram. It currently has two 4GB ram sticks and I have a single 16GB ram stick in my possession.
My questions is can I remove the two 4GB sticks and put in the single 16GB stick? Will this work? I know that laptop can handle that amounth of ram but I was unsure of how it would handle it in a single DIMM slot?
    Regards,
    Lance

    Hi Lance
I'm sorry you cannot put single 16GB RAM in only one of the slots to upgrade your RAM. Please go through User guide of your product here . This is your product suport page . According to Page 5 of product description in the user manual, You can upgrade to maximum 16GB 1600Mhz DDR3 RAM with Dual channel configuration, i.e., each memory slots will support only upto maximum of 8GB per slot (not supported on computer models equipped with a 32- bit operating system). So you can only put 8GB in each slot to make total of 16GB RAMs in dual-channel configuartion. Hope this resolves your query.
    Thanks

  • DV6-2106ea RAM upgrade

    Hi,
I recently upgraded my DV6-2106ea laptop from 4GB RAM to 8GB RAM, yet the system only shows it as having 4GB RAM. It has Windows 7 (64 bit) OS so should support 8 GB. I updated the BIOS from F.1A to F.1C but this has not helped. Any advise would be most welcome!
    Regards,
    Dave

    Hi Dave,
    You're welcome
First of all, enter the bios menu and set the defaults ( usually f9 or f5 ) and save the change.
If the above has made no difference, remove 1 of the modules and see if the bios recognises it.  If it does, try the same module in the other slot and check again.  If the module is recognised in either slot, remove it and repeat the procedure with the other module and let me know.

  • DV6-3225dx RAM UPGRADE problem

The DV6 I bought 2 years ago has 2x2GB Samsung built-in memory, and I want to upgrade to 8GB to use virtual machines. I bought 2x4GB 1333 Mhz Kingston memory, installed them and now the problem comes. Windows boot up, but it is frozen for a while (~3sec) then restart when the logo boot screen appears. BIOS can recognizes the new RAMs. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate. I came back to the store where I bought these memory, asked them to check, and they are working very well. I asked them to restock these RAM and bought 2 new Patriot memory. The problem is still there. Restock again and keeps using old RAMs.
    Please help.
    Thank you.

To verify, does the problem go away if you use the original two sticks of RAM the system came with?
Chasing down the HP part number from page 60 of this guide, the HP part number for the 4GB stick of RAM for this system is 641369-001.  Entering the listed part number from the guide at partsurfer.hp.com indicates that 641369-001 is the replacement 4GB RAM module.  Currently, that one stick of RAM is ~$52 USD when ordering from HP.  This same memory appears to be a little cheaper from CostCentral.  The stock ram was 1333, but using 1600 memory won't cause any harm as the motherboard will just downclock the RAM to 1333.
Since a problem is present using third party RAM, I would recommend using memory that matches the part number listed from HP to ensure compatibility.  The reason for this is that there are many specifications for RAM that are not listed in the documentation, so using HP RAM would ensure it is compatible with that particular system.  You could run the start-up test (power it on and press F2 about once a second) to ensure the hardware is functional.  Since it works with the stock RAM, it seems that the base hardware is fine.

It has 2gb DDR3 SODIMM PC-8500 1067mhz. Wondering if I Can Install DDR3 1333mhz module, that will run side by side with the existing 1067 module. Thank you

You can install a 1333 MHz memory module but it will not operate beyond 1066 MHz... This is limitation of the memory control of the processor on this notebook... Here is link to processor on your notebook..  http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=49022

Can i do 16 GB RAM Upgrade (8GB x2) For my HP DV6 7052SR ?! If yes what is the good RAM for me ?

    Hi,
Maximum of 8Gb RAM is supported for unit with 32 bit OS. If the unit as 64 bit OS, then you can upgrade upto 16GB as listed in the manual.

  • HP dv6-6c75sa Windows 7 64-bit RAM upgrade

I am running an HP dv6-6c75sa on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, with an Intel Core i3-2350M processor. My installed software is a combination of 32- and 64- bit compatible.
When I purchased the computer, I installed a RAM upgrade which took the total onboard RAM to 8GB. Due to a system issue which I cannot now recall, a search query informed me that my system would only recognise 6GB of what I had installed.
My computer is now 2 years old, and to extend its lifespan, and help it keep up with a recent software install which it cannot seem to cope with (Native Instruments Traktor 2, and Kontrol S4; I would like to make a new RAM upgrade.
I think that the reason only 6GB of my 8GB installed was recognised, may have had something to do with the 32- vs. the 64-bit system, but I can't be sure.
I know that the maximum RAM for Windows 7 Home Premium is 16GB. What changes could I make now that would allow my system to work at or near 16GB of RAM capacity?
Also, where I have a mishmash of 32- and 64-bit software, on a clean install running 64-bit, I believe that I should be able to get all of my software running again. Are there any traps I should look out for that may hamper this.
Do you think that my processor is the thing that is limiting my RAM capacity?
    I would appreciate your input.

    Hi @hyfpxm ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion dv6-6c75sa  Notebook and concerns with system recovery.
Here is a document on performing a system recovery. Here is a document on troubleshooting issues with performing a system recovery.
Always back up important information before attempting a recovery.
This system supports up to 8 GB DDR3  10600 1333-MHz and I would recommend 2- 4s. Here is a link to the manual page 60 for the memory. If the specs are correct for your memory I would reseat it.
Use the built-in Windows System Information utility to view information on Operating System, CPU type and speed, 32Bit or 64Bit design, and installed RAM memory. The section marked Find specifications using Windows System information.
    Hope this helps.

  • Hp dv6 ram upgrade ?

    hi
i just want to know is it possible to upgrade my laptop's (DV6-7040tx) ram to 16 gb ddr3 ? i m not into much technical stuff so if you guys can recommend the best option available for my laptop ,it will be awesome

    Hi,
    Currenntly it has 4+2 therefore you can't get 8+6. You can have 2 + 2, 4+ 2, 4+4, 8+ 2, 8+4 and 8+8 configuration. In this case, you can have 4+4 (throw away 2Gb) or 8 + 4 (also throw away 2Gb) or 8+8 (throw away both).
    Regards.

  • Uncertain about bios update dv6 1143TX

Hello, I was wondering wether or not I needed to update my laptops Bios. I have not updated the bios since I bought it and it does say there is an update available. I am skeptical on wether or not It is worth updating, as I have seen alot of other users encounter some serious problems from running such an update. My laptop model no. is dv6-1143TX and my Bios version is F.12Do I need to update it, what problems will/can the update incur, what happens if I don't update, and If I need to update which update do I need?  Any help, suggestions and information is welcome. ~Josh

Hi Erico. Wanted to update you on my 2 issues about the Bios Update and attempting to get my HP dv6-1355dx from Window 7 to Window 7 SP1. First of all thank you again for all your advice and steps to get the laptop bios upgraded to F.46. It worked fine and I am now at this latest bios level. But still at Window 7 only and the system is running great. Unfortunately, doing the bios update, as well as all your other recommended steps did NOT help me to get Window 7 SP1 (KB976932) upgraded on my laptop. Bummer! I've been trying for 4 months now and thought the Bios upgrade would do it. So did Microsoft folks.  I run HP Support Assistant now and it comes up clean that I don't need any driver updates, etc. and the bios is up to date. But, still with multiple automatic Win 7 SP1 updating and trying with the downloaded file version, it just won't update to Win 7 SP1. Same error everytime (error code 8024200d). Microsoft and many folks in the communities have a long list of things to do when one gets this error. Mostly it talks about getting the lastest drivers first before installing Window 7 SP1. Tried just about them all and still no success. I've just about given up on trying to upgrade my laptop to Window 7 SP1 (myself). So, I've decided to wait for Window 10 (for free) to be available. I can't reserved a Win 10 version since I am not at Window 7 SP1 nor do I get the icon to reserve a version in my tray.  So, I contacted and registered with HP SmartFriend technical support in the hopes that they can (with their $29.99 upgrade to Win 10 offer) get me upgraded to Window 7 SP1 or Window 8.1 and then get me a version of Window 10 and upgrade me. They indicated they can do this for me via remotely accessing my laptop. It's a plan and one which I hope the HP SmartFriend guys will successfully complete for me. Anyway, I do want to thank you again so much for you original suggestions and for helping me with my Bios updating. Thanks so much for helping me with this and I appreciate your time and responses. Wish me luck with my alternate plan to just get me to Window 10 (instead of that Window 7 SP1 which I could never do myself). Thanks buddy.Frank

What memory modules can we use for RAM upgrade of HP Pavilion dv5-1198de??
    Max RAM?  Vista?  Windows 7?

I can't find a dv5-1198de but I did find a dv5-1198er which should be similiar. It states up to 8 gb of ram. HERE
I would try www.Crucial.com for suggested memory ,you can use their Scanner Tool to let it detect what you have and what you can upgrade/replace with.
