HP dv6-6024tx notebook battery options?

Hi guys,
I have a HP dv6-6024tx notebook and was just wondering if anyone can tell me my battery options?
I've tried looking on the net but struggling to find out exactly what I can and cannot buy.
I currently have a MU06, but would like to upgrade the battery life either to a 9 or 12 cell battery
It also had written on a sticker under here the battery sits HSTNN-E08C, not sure if that helps at all
if you could post links or tell me the battery model options available for this notebook, it would be greatly appreciated?
Cheers,
Ben

 Hello Benjammon,
I understand you wanting a bigger battery for your DV6, is that correct? I will be happy to help you.
I was able to find the part number for the 9 cell battery (636631-001). I found some 12 cell batteries that could possibly be compatible to your DV6 but not 100% sure. The computer from HP gives you the options for a 6 or 9 cell battery but not a 12 cell.
Please respond back at your earliest convenience.
Thanks

  • DV6 Notebook Battery cuts power randomly

My specific model is a dv6-6135dx, running Windows 7 Home Premium.  I purchased the laptop back on 2011 and have so far only had to replace 3 components, the fan (burned out), the hard drive (picked up a nasty virus), and most recently, the battery (died).  All happened long after warrenty expired.
Instead of replacing it with the same exact battery, I opted to upgrade to one that could hold a longer charge.  The HP MU09 Long Life Notebook Battery.
My first problem:  It sits very loose in my laptop, often falling out if I am not careful when moving my laptop. I've never had this issue with the old battery, but this is somewhat managable.
My second problem:  Recently, when running on battery power, the power will randomly cut out.
I have ruled out overheating because this never happens when I am plugged in (and I have limited the max processor state to 50% on battery vs 100% plugged in).
I have also ruled out the possibility that I am moving the laptop and making the battery lose it's physical connection to the laptop because I have set it on a table and left it alone multiple times and it still cut power randomly.
When I power the system back on, the power level says it has the same amount of juice left in it that it had before it cut power.
The HP Battery check says the battery is OK, and the HP System Diagnostics Battery Test says PASSED.
What else can I do to troubleshoot or fix this issue?

You have a couple of options as I see it please update the Bios on the unit from our HP website.

  • HP Pavilion dv6-2190us Notebook PC Battery Won't Charge & Will Now Only Run on AC Power

    OS: Win7 (64-bit)
    Serial #: [Personal Information Removed]
First off, I will say that the main battery I am using is not an HP OEM battery, however, it has been verfied to work and charge correctly in another family member's dv6 notebook.  Furthermore, I have access to an HP OEM battery, from a family member's dv6, with which I have confirmed the same issue.  FYI: I replaced my OEM battery about a year ago with an aftermarket battery when my OEM battery stopped holding a charge.  This happened after before my laptop was 2 years old.
So, here's a description of the problem.  About a month ago, even though my laptop was plugged in to the AC adapter, the battery stopped charging.  The laptop continued to work until the battery completely ran out of charge.  Once that happened, the laptop shut down, DESPITE still being connected to the AC adapter.  At this point, as long as the battery was installed in my laptop, with the AC adapter still connected, it would not power up.  The only way I could get it to power up was to remove the battery.  Then, it would boot up just fine, but of course, I was now tethered via the AC cord, turning my laptop into a "thin and light desktop".  If I attempted to put the battery back while the computer was on, connected to the AC adapter, it would shut down IMMEDIATELY.  I took the battery and plugged it into my family member's dv6, at which point it charged just fine and worked normally.  I then took the charged battery and put it back into my laptop only to have the same sequence of events repeat, i.e. laptop ran off of the battery despite the AC adapter being plugged in until it ran out of charge...had to remove battery to get laptop to start back up.  I have also confirmed the exact same behavior with the HP OEM battery out of my family member's dv6.  So, in a nutshell, it would appear as though my laptop has lost the ability to charge batteries and cannot resolve the fact that the AC adapter is plugged in when a dead battery is installed.
It should be noted that despite the normal operation of my family member's dv6 with my battery and the normal operation of my laptop with just the AC adapter plugged in, I did verify (via a multimeter) that the voltage of the batteries were within normal operating range and that the voltage and current flow of the AC adapter was within normal operating range.
Is there a separate charging circuit inside the dv6 for charging the battery?  Is it separate from the motherboard and possible to replace?  I've done quite a bit of research on this issue (or very similar issues) and despite some suggestions RE: BIOS issues, I just can't see how that could be the culprit.  Nor can I see how "re-calibrating" my battery would address this problem.  Note: battery does register at 100% when charged in the other dv6 and put back into my dv6.
Ok, I hope that clearly explains the issue.  Please let me know if I can provide any further details to help troubleshoot it.
    Thanks,
    Eric

Okay, so the type of battery you have is designed to last approximately 1 year (see link below) it has lots of links to other useful docs too.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00596784&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=4121239&tmp...
HP & other companies do sell Long life batteries but they cost more.
We would ask you to put the unit in our unit and run Battery check which is inside HP Support Assistant, make sure you have the latest version, same for your BIOS Version.
You will see there are bunch of tips on how to make your battery last longer, but you really need to start doing them from the start, if your battery is already 1 year old there is a good chance it is low enough on it's capacity to require you buying a new one.
You should check out our site, they often have sales, and Batteries would be under accessories.
Check out other sites too, compare.
    Good luck.

  • HP Pavilion dv6 7039tx Notebook-It was working fine and then it suddenly got stuck during startup.

I own a HP Pavilion dv6 7039tx Notebook.  The OS is Win 7 64bit. I made 4 partitions after formatting the 1TB HDD as the C drive would not reduce to the  40GB size I wanted through disk management.
It was working fine till now and then it suddenly got stuck during startup.
I talked to customer support and they said it was a OS problem and I should order a set of 6 Recovery DVDs. i want to know if using the HP recovery disk
    1) Has an option to repair the system and leaves the disk partition unchanged?
    2) It resets the notebook to factory condition?
    3) There is an option of recovery disk which I should specifically ask for?
    Thanks!!

  • Satellite A660/07S - 12cell replacement battery option

    Hello

available but nobody seems to know anything about them the last place i have tried said no you can only use 6 cell, On this MODEL.

    Hello
In my opinion if you want a new battery with higher capacity, you should contact an authorized service provider in your country.
Thats an official Toshiba service partner and the guys know a lot of notebooks and options. They are always friendly and try to help you as best as possible.
So get in contact with the guys and ask for that. If 12cell batteries are available for your model, they can order it for you!

  • My Macbook is stuck in "Notebook Battery and Adapter Diagnostic"

I was trying to diagnose my power adapter and got my Macbook(removal battery) stuck in "Notebook Battery and Adapter Diagnostic".  I can't figure out how to exit it.  There doesn't seem to be a cancel or exit button.  I have tried resetting PRAM and doing the take the battery out and hold down power button for seconds.  My computer seems to be stuck here and I can't do anything at all.

Thank you for taking the trouble to reply, had already tried all of the above, to no avail in the end had to force quit by holding down start button.  Next morning when I started up it asked if I wanted to go into problem application or wait for start up I took 2nd option and all seems ok.  Again thank you C

  • RAM for HP dv6 6024tx

I have purchased the HP dv6 6024tx howver it only comes with 4gb of RAM, 1.5 of it is constantly in use and it often peaks when playing games or importing items into programs, does anyone know where I can purchase an additional 4gb of ram (if I can, I think there are 2 slots from RAM because 6026 has 8gb (4x2) also what is the price of the 4gb of extra RAM

Go to a memory manufacturer site such as Kingston (http://www.kingston.com/europe/) and see what they recommend for guaranteed compatible memory modules.
Be sure and purchase only guaranted compatible memory.
Don't forget that you need to be running a 64-bit operating system if a Windows OS is your choice. . Linux 32-bit does not have that problem. Linux will see and use 8GB of RAM

Hi Mary1K. If the lack of sound is a driver issue, you can restore the original "IDT Audio" drivers using this method: Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 7)
If that doesn't help, try the troubleshooting in this document: No Sound from the Speakers (Windows 7)

    Same battery (0C52862) as T440, T440s, T450, available here.
There's a big bulge on the bottom for the additional capacity.
UPDATE: ThinkPad Battery 68+ (6 cell) is available during checkout in the Accessories section.

iCal reminders for iPod and notebook battery have broken links and are not functioning. I went to http://www.apple.com/batteries/ipods.html and midway down on the right side is a link to install a ical reminder. That link does not work with my laptop.

    Hi All,
I am having poor battery backup on my W510 and have sent my laptop multiple times to Lenovo Support , but no luck so far.
Is it possible to buy a extra battery and charge it offline and use when your laptop charger is drained?
Please suggest me what are the various battery option available for my laptop
My Laptop is : W510 Touchscreen ,i70,12G RAM
    Thanis in advance
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi nandudb
How long those your battery last? From what I know, W510 does not have switchable grahics, therefore power consuming. It should at most last 1h+ with 6 cell battery.
You could maxed out your battery life with this option:
55++ 9cell battery + 27++ 9cell slice battery, using two battery at once.
Image of 27++ - There is a connector between the RAM and battery slot to connect the Slice battery or Docking Station.
    Hope this helps!
