HP dv6 - Took Out Battery and Lost Data

I took out the battery on my HP dv6 to get the info on it to order a replacement, put it back in, restarted the computer, and poof -- all of my files were gone. However, a few random programs are still on the harddrive.
Very weird ... did I lose all of the data?? very weird .. all I did was take out and put the battery back in ..
Any suggestions how to restore everything??

Hi,
Can you check in the user profile folder, if you have any data in it or not. Since if you try to do system restore, it will only restore the programs but not the data. You may have to buy softwares which will allow you to restore data.

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app
    •    Tap on Wi-Fi
    •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Restored Nano and lost data

I had to restore my new Nano and lost my workout data from the past 2 months. Can I recover it online?

One more thing...whenever my ipod freezes now it takes longer and longer to reboot/ reset it...if that helps.

Damaged and Lost Data - URGENT HELP

Can anyone help me. I need to recover some data from a usb stick that has become corrupted. It seemed as though the stick had hung so after a bit i took it out and now it sees nothing when plugged in apart from a weird file. Although if I perform a verify on it with disk utility it says there are 301 files on it, but a repair achieves nothing. I have even tried techtools pro but i can't even switch to the stick. this may be because it is fat32.
does anyone have any ideas as quite desperate. There are 30 people waiting on the data that I have here.

TTBOMK There are no free recovery programs.
You can download a demo copy which will tell you what is going to recovered when you pay for it. So I suggest you try the demo and see if it will recover enough to be worth paying the full charge for it.

IPAD 2, I updated to IOS 6 and lost data from EA app

I uploaded data from The Sims Freeplay prior to upgrading to IOS 6 and when I went to downoad the data, icloud states that it is not there, lost of lot of money, and fun,

If the iPad has not been backed up - how can you expect to retain the photos if you restore to factory destroys go via Recovery Mode.
To answer your question, if you have to restore the iPad using recovery mode and you have nothing backed up anywhere, you are out of luck regarding the photos. You will lose them when you restore the iPad.
BTW ... You don't have to restore the iPad, but you will not be able to use it any more. You will have a rather expensive door stop on your hands.

Can i synch iphone calendar that is not on iCloud with my macbook that was on iCloud which i just signed out of and lost that info?

i signed into icloud last night on my macbook, but now realize i don't want to use it. I have looked at a lot of threads to try to figure out how to sign out, get rid of it and not lose my contacts, calendar and documents and data. I did a time machine backup thinking i could just get it back that way afterwards. So i signed out and have lost my contacts etc. My question is, i had not set icloud up on my iphone, so if i synched my phone with my macbook will it synch the lost contacts and calendars with my macbook or will i lose that information of my phone as well? The time machine backup up i did seemed to have that information missing as well. I am confused!

Thanks for reply, I had just updated to 10.8.5 on macbook. I had set up icloud on my macbook, signing in with password etc. it all happened so quick and it didnt allow me time to say no to document and data backup. At that stage i was interested only in having my calendar being able to be read over my iphone and macbook etc. When i realized icloud was not suitable to me, i looked up several threads on this issue. Then i went into system- icloud and it said backup now and because my usage was 4.99g unused out of 5g i just thought it hadn't got to that stage of backing up and that it would be safe to go through the process of signing out which of course involves having to press the delete of mac if i wanted to sign out.
sorry if long winded but i am unfamiliar with icloud as you can see but icloud is not suited to me and just want to get my stuff back out of icloud and restore my comp to the way it was.

Do you make backups of the data? If so, it is possible to recover the file you had 24 hours before, but if not, you cannot recover it.
If you have Time Machine, the only thing you have to do is to go to the folder where you have the GarageBand library with the projects (usually, "Music"). Then, open the Time Machine app, navigate to a backup made before which contains the project you want to recovery, choose the file and select "Restore". I updated my iPad 2 to iOS 7.06 and iTunes couldn't connect. Had to revert to factory settings. Can't install many apps and lost data. What can I do?

When I selected to update the OS on my iPad 2, it wouldn't connect with iTunes, and I had no choice other than to revert to factory settings, losing all my data, apps etc. Everything. I knew that would happen, but also that everything was backed up on iCloud.
However, when I thought I had set up my ipad again, I found none of my documents, pdf files, songs, notes, some items on my calendar, and a bunch of other stuff had gone.
If it's on iCloud, why can't I get it back?
And has anyone got a brillaint solution?
I noticed a few others have had the same issue.
And I need the lost documents for my work with clients. My next client starts on Monday and some of his material is now lost. I am unable to open it on my iMac, as I have a newer update of Pages on my ipad. So most of these missing documents, while on my imac via icloud, are inaccessible.
HELP!!!!

Renumbering issues and lost data

I have a folder of photos with jpegs, dng and tif, when I re-name the files I have found that it will give duplicate numbers but with a different suffix, for example, 201.jpg and 201.dng. Is there anyway to stop this? I can see both photos in the Library but as soon as I go to Develop I can only access one of the photos.
Secondly, I have just made a stupid mistake. I wanted to deleted a photo but didn't realise that had select all. By the time I noticed it had deleted nearly 50% of the photos from disk. So when I restored the files my photo adjustments had been lost. I know this is wishful thinking but is there any chance to get this data back? The catalog is not up to date with the last changes I have made. However, the confusing thing is that some of the changes still seem to be there. Any ideas?

Settings are always in catalog, and may be in xmp too. If no xmp and no catalog backup, you're SOL.
For future reference: always save xmp between catalog backups! (if you want to assure no such loss I mean).
PS - You can import Lr previews of your photos which have the adjustments (as you see them in library module) if you need to, but of course those should not take the place of your original masters, unless you just need a reduced rez/quality copy.

I accidentally formated iMac drive and lost data. How can I recover the iMac's HD data??

I accidently formated an iMac HD that I had connected to my MBP in target disk mode. (I also had a new WD harddrive connected to my MBP at the same time and was supposed to format the WD drive in disk ultility but clicked the wrong drive. I still can't believe what a boneheaded thing that was to do..)
Anyway, can I recover the files on the iMac and if so, how can it be done?
I can only connect to the iMac via target disk mode because the iMac display is not working.
I have not zero'd out the iMac's HD or written anything to it so I assume the data should be there all fully intact for the most part.

Thanks varjak paw and ds store. I ended up using data rescue 3. I called tech tool pro and they said that DR3 would probably help me. It did, it recovered what appeaers to be all of the files and a whole bunch of deleted files.
A couple of notes:
When I ran DR3, it kept giving me a disk slowdown error and said that the iMac disk might be going. Turns out my computer that I was running DR3 on had to be set so that it stayed on all the time (no screen saver, no disk or display sleep, etc.).
Another reason I went with DR3 over SubRosaSoft was that when I called DR3, I was talking to somebody alive in less than a minute and they transferred me to tech support where they gave me instructions on how to use their software. When I called SubRosaSoft, I couldn't get anybody alive to talk to after several tries.

The answer to your question depends upon your version of Reader and your OS. Especially since the last version of Acrobat Reader was version 5 which is four majors versions ago. The last four versions have been called Adobe Reader, not Acrobat Reader. This the forum for the Acrobat commericial product, not the free reader product.
PDF files cannot be edited in Reader and fields filled in with Reader cannot be saved (unless especially enabled) canot be re-opened from the temp files. To make a long story short. You will need to re-type the information.

there is a program called recboot. you can download it for free in two parts. one part takes your device out of recovery mode and the other puts it into recovery mode. ive used it before but it doesnt always work and you have to be patient. try it and tell me what happens
