HP dv6000-Screen Issues

So Ive had this laptop for awhile, it was given to me by my brother as a freebie so Ive never really worried about it. Only the top half of the screen works. At times the bottom half will start working but if I move the screen just a little it will stop working. It will go for months without the bottom half working then maybe for a day it will work. Also, sometimes the entire screen will go blank but if I restart the top half will start working again. I can also hook it to an external monitor and switch screens back and forth till the top half works again. Very odd.
Would this be a bad screen or bad cable going to the screen? Or maybe both? I took the trim apart and checked all the connections, everything seems to be ok. If I pulled on the cable going to the screen the entire screen would flicker and the bottom half would act like it was going to work(it would show up). I really dont want to go buying a new screen if theres a possibility that its just the cable. Only reason I think it may be the cable is when the bottom half works when I move the screen it will stop, then when I had the trim off it would flicker when I moved the cable around. But then why will the top half work again when I restart or switch to an external monitor and back?
Also, when I took the invertor out when I took the LCD out and when I put it all back together I wasnt getting any back light. I kept messing around with it, took it all back apart and put it back together and it started working. Kinda scared the crap outta me as I thought something happened to the inverter.
Thoughts? Opinions? Thanks a bunch!

Here are some basic things too check boodwiser.
Regarding your wired ethernet connection,a couple of things to check are,
That you can see your Network Card in device manager, and that it has no conflicts (Exclamation marks etc).
That you are using a straight through ethernet cable to connect to router.
That your TCP\IP settings for your network card are set to obtain a IP address automatically (I am assuming your router is using DHCP).
Regarding your wireless connection,
Do the same check as above in Device Manager,this time for your wireless Network card

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP Pavilion dv6920ea Notebook and getting errors on startup. Try performing a hard reset.
When performing a hard reset please note remove any and all USB devices, and remove memory cards from the card reader slot. Disconnect all non-essential devices.
If that does not help try to turn on the computer you start to press F11 repeatedly till the menu opens. You can do a system restore. The HP Support Assistant will help you keep the computer software and drivers up to date.
The final thing you should try is to restore the BIOS defaults.

Dv6000 pavillon bootup issue

I have a hp pavillion dv6000 s/n CNF72501HS with windows vista home premium
It takes awhile to bootup
First message I got on bootup
error
0271 check datae and time settings
warning
0251: system cmos checksum bad - default
press <f1> to resume, <f10> to setup
hit f10 fixed the time, went into the diagnostics ran the self-test on the hard
get this message maybe a minute or two test status #1 - 07 Fail
let me know if there is any bad info regarding this model
I am assuming the first issue could be a bad cmos chip

Dv6000's are well known for all kinds of motherboard issues and failures.
You might consider sending it in for repairs

Symptoms may include the following:
Weird colored screen (grey, green, red etc..
Scrambled or pixelated screen
Divided split screen (2 screens up to 12 split screens)
Screen black however backlit
Screen black with no backlight however blue lights come on the quickplay panel
Turns on then shuts off immediatly
Turns on and beeps 3 times (1 long and 2 short)
Turns on, black screen and keeps restarting by itself
White or grey screen sometimes with horizontal lines
Press power button and nothing happens what so ever (seems dead) (mostly on DV2000 models)
Intel models boot to backlight but no screen
Cant load Nvidia driver, can only run in VGA mode
Screen works but no WiFi (does not show up in device manager)

HP Pavilion dv6000 DVD drive issues

I've had this issue for a while now and I've been able to get around it but it's really bugging me. My laptop was unfortunately wedged under a heavy box while moving. Everything else about the laptop runs fine, it's just the E: drive that refuses to work. The computer recognizes the hardware and I'm able to check its properties, Windows believes that the hardware is functioning properly. Yet, when I try to open the hatch (both by right clicking the E: drive in 'My Computer' and hitting 'eject', and by pushing the button on the hardware itself), nothing happens. The light doesn't even come on anymore.
Is there any way to fix this problem? I tried the download in the other thread about the CD drive not working, yet it didn't work.

I would replace the hard drive. That is a 640 gig 5400 rpm drive and you can get a bigger faster drive for a reasonable price.

If the computer is still working well enough to boot into Windows you can do a complete system backup and recover all your data, settings, programs, etc onto the new drive or we can help you do a disk clone of the old drive to the new.
Since your laptop will actually hold two hard drives simultaneously you could even put the old drive in the secondary bay so you have a copy of all your old stuff right at hand.

PNP - Selection scr een

Hi Friends,
I have one doubt on selection screen of logical database PNP.
I enter the date in selection screen as 01.06.2006 to 31.12.2006 for both data selection and person selection.
In the database table date(begda) is 01.01.2000.
When i use provide * from p0001 between pn-begda and pn-endda..endprovide,
it automatically changes the date in table to selection screen date, ie from 01.01.2000 to 01.01.2006. So brings all the data even though date in table exists only up to 01.01.2000. How can i solve this?

No, i want all the records for a person during a particular period. All actions from pa0000. Now i validated the data selection between loop-endloop. But it does not validate the person selection. Any idea Please.

DV6000 Power Button Issue

Ok before every one says to search, Well i did search. What happen was the power button stoped working but the LED was still lit. So I took off the top panel to inspect the connection and such. After my so called inspection I put it back toghether to find out now the the speakers and the Volume (-) and (+) LED's, and power button or the LED on the power button doesn't work... So I buy a new power button, and ribbon and replace, put it all back toghether and now the LED on the power button lights up but doesn't work, and the Volume (-) and (+) leds don't light up no more either, any help would be really appreciated

HELP!! My iPhone keeps crashing and i cant activate it anymore

I stated having issues with my iPhone a couple weeks back when my batterl life started ending pretty quickly. Now Icant even get an hour of use out of my phone. thats no the biggest problem though... for a couple hours now my phone keeps crashing randomly. now i cant even start it up anymore. the apple logo keeps showing but nothing more happens. after a minute the scr een goes dark again. I would like to restore the phone using itunes but it dies before my computer can even recognize the device.
Now the apple logo is showing but i doubt ill manage to start it up.
I treat my phone well and i havent dropped it in many months. And when it did drop it didnt get damaged.
My phone also gets really hot whenever i charge it or generally use it. It gets so hot that it really hurts to touch sometimes...
If some one knows how to solve my problem please tell me!

Unable to download peter pan digital copy. error 5002.

I keep trying to download the peter pan digital copy to my computer and i get the message that itunes is unavailable with error 5002. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

Issue isnt resolved.
This is the 1st digital copy I cant download.
Funny thing is I HAD the 5002 code, but I can download apps & updates with no issue.
TODAY iTunes tells me that the iTunes store is unavaiable, yet I just downloaded a new app from the iTunes store.
The apple rep I was speaking with, hasnt responded since yesterday afternoon......

I tried restarting iTuines & also restarting my computer - nothing worked.
I also tried removing my CC info - nothing.
Finny thing is that even when the store was 'down', I still downloaded apps.
I also just downloaded the Peter Pan storybook app - but the digital copy wont work.

HAVENT HEARD A RESPONSE SINCE I RESPONDED WITH TWO print screen emails.

I have a Pavilion dm1-3020us Product # XY960UA#ABA and the screen is cracked!

I've only had my dm1-3020 for about 4 months and the screen is now cracked and blacking out parts of my screen. I had my laptop in its protective case and it must have hit something while in the trunk of the car. How do I get the screen fixed?

When i open the computer the screen goes blank

Recently whenever I close the computer and then open it the screen will come on for a few seconds then go blank. Nothing gets it to come on again and the only way to sort things out is to force off the computer. This is really annoying and I am getting really frustrated with it and if I can;t get it rectified it will take a flight off the second story.
It's an annoying 15" early 2011 MBP.

Help with opening a .PDF in browser (firefox) - have Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extender installed

Hi all,
I have Adobe Acrobat 9 ProExtender installed, whenever I go to my firefox options and change the .PDF setting to (USE ADOBE ACROBAT (in firefox)) setting, i get a screen which is whited out, and a message from Adobe Acrobat with a question mark (?), but no message is there to read.

een that pops up, I can back out and try the link again for it to work, but it does it to all my .PDF files I try to view on the page. All I can do to prevent this is to save to disk, and open with adobe acrobat pro extender, but sometimes the file I need to look at are quick and would save a lot of time just opening it on the browser.

Unfortunately, it's not that simple because Acrobat and Reader share files, and that's why Adobe recommends not to have them both installed in the same machine.

Da Ford biler opdagede de havde lavet nogle dårlige lodninger i dørene på fx Ford Focus i år 2003, udbedrede de skaderne uden beregning - det må siges at være god skik. Windows 7 Screenshots while in Bootcamp...

How can you take a screenshot of your desktop while booted in Windows 7? There's no print screen button in my Macbook Pro keyboard.

The PrtScn button for Mac Alu. Keybd. is F14 above Home button with coffee stain. This is Not your answer.
In Windows 7 from Start button->All Programs->Accessories->Ease of Access->On-Screen Keyboard has a big PrtScn button. Still not your answer but useful.
From Start->Help and Support; search argument "Clipboard" yields:

Hints on reducing "Paint" size of jpg,png by pixel count. This is useful if screen setting is at full resolution; 1920x1080 setting will make a large picture, blah blah Etc.
When you do find the key, the following script will "paste" result of your pressing PrtScn to desktop like Mac 's Cmd-Shft-3. Though not as good as Mac method, I prefer this to Snipping when less interaction, need for speed: Live TV, Video etc.
You can copy text between the ++ lines into(paste) a (Desktop) RightClick New->TextDocument and rename it to PasteScn.vbs .....You can run this from your desktop or move it somewhere, create a shortcut to desktop.
In Windows 7, I have it in MyToolbar (create by right click Taskbar->Toolbars->New Toolbar) not to be confused with Taskbar where Pins are on left side of taskbar. If you pin it to the taskbar, OS adds a script icon within making it necessary to run shortcut by right click selection which is too slow.
Then whenever you've done PrtScn, you click on the PasteScn icon & Picture(n).jpg will be sent to Desktop.
Occasionally I've had the paste invoke do nothing, perhaps because of clipboard activity. Solution is to hit PrtScn again.
If anyone knows how to include script for the PrtScn key function, we would have as good as what we got in Mac.

I found a solution!
Perhaps this is just temporary, but I have my display up and working again.
Although the symptoms are different were a bit different, the solution here worked:

As I was able to connect to my HD via an external monitor, in the finder, I went to:
1. Macintosh HD --> System --> Library --> Extensions
2. From there I moved all of the files that started with ADM and ATI (19 in total for me) to a folder on my desktop. (You will need to enter your admin password for this)
3. Next was a restart.
4. Then my display started working again.
5. After that, I transferred the files back into my Extensions folder.
6. I then did another restart with my fingers crossed and breath held. It worked.
Also... During the last few days of trying to find a fix, I restored a Mavericks backup to my computer away from Yosemite.
I'm very sure this problem occurred when I put my MBP to sleep, disconnected the power in its sleep, while something was connected to a USB port and unplugging the USB device (for me an iPhone charger) while the MBP was closed.
I hope this helps the next person.
