HP DV7-2123 motherboard ATA support ?

Dear Sir,
Orginally DV7-2123 notebook has Serial ATA-150 connected 500GB hard drive.,
does product support SATA II or SATA III hard drives ?. What about if change hard drive to SSD ?..

SATA-II, not SATA-III and an SSD will work fine either a SATA-II SSD or a SATA-III SSD will downclock and you will hardly lose any speed at all.

I have a dv7-3145 notebook that only 2 years and 8 months old. After talking with tech support they told me that I needed have new motherboard.  I always told my daughter that HP had good products. She has a 4 year old Dell laptop that's still going strong. Tech support offered my to buy another but this is my last HP product ever. I guess I should  have bought a Dell like my daughter.

    Hi,
Try installing the HP version of Cyberlink PowerDVD 10 on the following link.

  • Pavilion dv7 blue screening - HP support assistant cannot test BIOS or memory modules but BIOS can?

About a month ago my dv7 started doing something strange - during normal use (not gaming, just word processing, showing a powerpoint presentation, showing a video on youtube, etc.) the cooling fan speed would suddenly ramp up to jet-engine speed and shortly thereafter the computer would blue screen, crash dump, etc. (no, I did not write down any info from the blue screen message - I will do so next time). Having experienced a blue screen issue with a Dell laptop I thought the hard drive was going bad, because about the same time I was suddenly unable to run a backup of the hard drive. After several attempts, I was finally able to backup the hard drive, and then replaced it with a new drive, re-installed OS with my recovery flash drive, worked through all of the windows updates that were recommended, and thought everything would be good to go. Now I have no problems backing up hard drive, etc. Then on day 2, after only a few hours of use, the cooling fan speed suddenly ramped up again and the blue screen returned.
A friend who is a tech suggested running HP diagnostics on everything, so I rebooted, hit F2, and started by testing the hard drive; as expected, no problems there. I next tried to test the memory (8192 MB total in two modules), and the test failed. I also tried testing the BIOS, and that too failed. The HP diagnostics reported that it couldn't even read the BIOS. Hmmm, strange. So I re-booted, hit F10, and went into the BIOS (BIOS date 10/5/11, revision F.1B). I HAVE NOT IN ANY WAY MODIFIED THE BIOS - I'm good, but not that good. Via the BIOS test utility, I tested both memory modules independently and then together, and everything checked out fine. I also tried switching modules between slots and re-tested via the BIOS utility, and that too checked out. I then returned to the HP diagnostics utility and tried re-testing the memory (both modules together - failed, one module at a time - both failed, in both slots).
HP tech experts, can you give me any guidance? This has been a great machine for me, I have taken good care of it, and am hoping to get a few more years out of it (I'm a middle-school science teacher, can't afford another one at this point). If I can't find a fix, I may have to go back to using my antique overhead projector in my classroom...

    Hi @h20roks ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion dv7 and  getting the BSOD and shutting down. I recommend to restore the BIOS defaults with this document selecting the reloading the BIOS default settings. Not rollback.

  • Wireless module change in pavilion DV7 (amd), to give support for GHz fequency

    Hi
Can someone please tell me which wireless module would be best suited (compatible) to the pavilion dv7(amd) so that it might support the GHz "n" type signal.  Currently it has the broadcom 4313b/g/n, which although has n in the description, does not actually support GHz!  I have looked on the dv7 support manual and it lists Atheros AR9280 802.11a/b/g/n as a part used in the laptops, but I can currently locate a new one, only used from USA.  I would be most grateful if someone could tell me which would be the best replacement and from where to purchase it, if possible.
    Thanks

  • Dv7 - 6c95dx motherboards

Will a HM65 Motherboard 655488-001 work in my dv7-6c95dx case. It has the same ports as does my bad board, and is shaped just like my older motherboard.

Thanks for the response. I know which board is the standard replacement. I am looking at the board thickness, shape, ports, connectors the works. This 665993-001 has the same board layout, size, shape and chips positioning as does this 655488-01.
The only difference is the dedicated video card with 2GB DDR5 RAM.

  • Does 870a-G54 NON FX Motherboard now support Vishera CPU's after bios flash?

I have the non fx version of the 870a-g54, I have the latest bios flashed on my motherboard right now and in the description of the bios update it reads "- Update AGESA code for Vishera CPU"
So is this support for FX cpus now ?
Is the 870a-g54 FX board the same as the mainboard non fx with just support for FX out of the box?
I'm confused, I would really love to upgrade my CPU, I know my motherboard has weak power phasing so I won't be overclocking at all if I did upgrade.
    THoughts?

OK, here's a list from MSI I found that support Vishera, if anyone can prove otherwise then go by this list. There is no sense going back and forth without definite proof, as far as I'm concerned the proof is this list.
List of models that support the new AMD FX “Vishera” CPU

Right there -> 890FXA-GD65 ,white socket , has FX support. So white or black it simply has to be tested and stated to work.
It was stated to work with FX 5 months before the CPU release. And this is just one example
Anyway i would say FX  CPU-s SHOULD be used with boards released last year ,just to be safe it doesn t blows up when the CPU reaches some Turbo State.
FX series needs proper VRM stages.

  • MSI Z87GD65 motherboard Not supporting Latest GPU CARDS FROM AMD

Hello team , This is a serious issue Horrible story
    m' having  MSI Z87GD65 motherboard  & MSI z68A GD80 b3

  • MSI G33M-FI motherboard - raid support?

hi, i have just bought a MSI G33M-FI mobo and have a few questions regards raid and the different chipsets:-
1/ how can i tell what chipset my mobo has, ICH9 or ICH9R?
2/ which chipset supports raid ICH9, ICH9R, or both?
3/ what does the spec mean by (optional), as it seems my mobo has most of the optional parts missing?.
i have had a good hunt around the web but can't seem to get any definitive answers, so your my last hope :-).
    many thanks for any replies!
    paul.

    paule,
please read the moan guide for the posting guidelines.
    1. it's ICH9. It doesn't support RAID, does it?
    2. ICH9R.
    3. MSI sells this board in different SKUs all over the world, your mobo is probably missing some optional parts. You got to find that with the reseller.

You may be able to find that part on the HP Parts Store or HP PartSurfer:

  • Does dv7-6c95dx have bluetooth support built in?

Under drivers for my model, there are choices for drivers for bluetooth, but my computer has the 6150 Centrino wireless card.  It does not recognize bluetooth hardware recognized with the latest chipset driver.
As this is not CTO, does it have bluetooth?  Or, do I need a dongle?

Seem to recall a review on the XA-3051 here stating it's only stereo input, with Dolby 3.1 channel decoder - not real 5.1?
    Quote
Yes, the system only has inputs for stereo. On further inspection, it appears that the sub features a Dolby Pro Logic decoder. “But wait…” you cry, “don’t modern consoles use Pro Logic II instead?”. Yes they do. “And I thought Pro Logic was 3.1, not 5.1!”. You’re right again: Instead of using the sub for Pro Logic-style surround, the two rear satellites do the job by spewing out the same (faked) signal. The subwoofer itself is faked outside the Dolby Pro Logic spec by Altec, and simply plays any low sounds.
A hit of the remote’s “Test” button verifies this, where the rear satellites hiss out at the same time, and the sub hisses in general when it feels like it.
So what does this mean for you, gentle reader? Well, for one thing, forget Dolby Digital. Then forget DTS. Then downgrade Pro Logic II.

  • PT880 Neo (VIA Chipset) Serial ATA Driver needed!

I have just recently built a computer with a NEO PT880 Motherboard along with a Seagate Baracuda 120gb HDD with Serial ATA support, however, W2k does not detect the hdd (because of it being SATA), the bios does see it, yet I need the drivers to install it but the motherboard did not come with a floppy to install the driver during W2k 'F6' prompt, any ideas or can you point to where I can grab the proper drivers? Thanks.

I need this too, didnt get a diskette and cant finish building this new computer :( Anyone have it?
