Hp dv8 laptop, SDHC Cards

Will my HP dv8 laptop be able to read SDHC cards? Or is it just capable of regular SD?
It would be nice if this information were easy to find about HP's built-in SD card readers.

Hello,
Thanks for your reply.
I have tried 2 different SDHC cards:
1. San Disk 16GB Class 10 (30MB/s)
2. Toshiba 16GB Class 10
They both work on any other computer and cameras.
I also tested them on my girlfriend's computer (she owns exaclty the same laptop that I have, Lenovo U310).
Thus, the SDHC cards ar not faulty.
"make sure the port isn't blocked in the Y50". What do you mena exactly?
The reader works fine with standard SD cards, or with micro SDHC cards (using the adapter adapter).
I tried to use some partition manager but did not work. "Please insert a disk in D: .... "
Thanks for helping

dm4-1060us laptop SD Card Reader 5-in-1 question. Does it work with SDHC and SDXC memory cards?

This cart reader is a kind of multi card reader and you can use different cards with it. In my opinion every multi device should be used very, but very gently. I do not know what happened exactly in your case but maybe you have damaged something inside.
Try to restart your notebook and use other SD card to check if everything works well. Please do it very gently and if you see something is wrong stop with inserting the card.
I use 1 GB SD card on my A200 without any problems.
In my opinion you should check notebook by technician.
    Bye and good luck!

  • Satellite Pro A200 Windows XP, 4Gb SDHC Card does not work.

    Hi,
I have had a Satellite Pro A200 installed with Windows XP, SP2 for some time - No problems there, a great piece of kit. However I recently have bought a new camera and splashed out on a Kingston 4Gb SDHC card. The manual for my A200 seemes to indicate that it my laptop is compatible with SDHC cards to 4Gb however when I push the card in the LED flashes blue briefly and then nothing happens. My SDHC card does not appear to be recognised by the system.
I see no errors in my OS event log and I have checked the slots operation by trying an older 512Mb SD card and that works fine.
Can anybody offer any help please?
For reference this laptop is a Model PSAE4E A200.
    Many Thanks in advance
    Simon

If the above fix does not work (which it didn't for me on a Satellite Pro A100 running XP), try

  • My hp dm3-3027cl card reader can not recognize the class 10 sdhc card

My hp dm3-3027cl card reader can not recognize the class 10 sdhc card. I downloaded and installed the card reader driver from HP web site for this dm3-3027cl, but still have same problem. There isn't a problem on class 6 SDHC card. It seems some other computers have the same problem on reading the class 10 SDHC card. My toshiba e105 laptop has no probblem to read class 10 SDHC card.

Hello snowman90024 and welcome to community,
Kindly install the USB and card reader driver then install cardreader driver and USB driver
Please let us know about the status after this.

  • Can built-in device to read/write SDHC cards 4-8-16 GB?

I have Lenovo 3000 N200 laptop which has a multy card reader, but I wonder if it is capable of reading and writing those latest SDHC cards?
I am planning to buy a such card for a HD-camcorder.

If you are using a DSLR camera, like for example a Canon 60D, there may be an option to use a "Low-Level Formatting" on the card. This should make it writable when putting it into the computer.
To test this (and confirm it works) I did the following:
    Hardware Used:
    Canon 60D camera body
    Sandisk 32GB SDHC Extreme Card
Macbook Pro 15" (mid 2010 model) with built-in SD card slot.
    Steps:
Place SDHC card into camera (SD card may work as well). Navigate through menu until you arrive at settings that allow the camera to format the card. There may be an option to format it "low-level", which you would then select.
-Note that all files on card will be erased permanently.-
After the camera formats, eject the card from the camera, and place inside the built-in SD slot on the Macbook.
The card should automatically mount, containing both read and write priviledges.
    Hope that helps.

  • Does Equium M70 support 4GB or 8GB SDHC card

    Could anyone help please?
My laptop reads standard sd cards fine (1gb),
However i want to buy a 4gb or 8gb SDHC card to transfer pictures from my camera onto my laptop and then onto my ipod.
Cant find any info in the manual
    Any replies really appreciated
    Thanks, Mark

    Hi!
The Equium M70 supports only SD cards up to 1GB so SDHC cards will not work.
You can find this information in the user manual. I have checked it and so I know this.
If you dont have the user manual you can download it on the Toshiba website.
    Bye

  • SDHC card reader in Satellite A300-1MX?

    Hi everyone,
i bought a Toshiba Satellite A300-1MX back in October 2008, and now i wanted to buy an SDHC card, but I was wondering whether my laptop would support this "new"-ish card. The reason I want an SDHC is because it comes in bigger volumes.
So do you know if my laptop can read SDHC cards?
    Thanks so much,
    Sincerely,
    Alex

The Satellite Satellite A300-1MX card reader supports these cards:
    SD Card: 8MB-2GB
    SDHC Card: 4GB-16GB
    xD picture card: 16MB-2GB
    Memory Stick: 8MB-256MB
    Memory Stick Pro: 256MB-4GB
    MultiMediaCard: 8MB-2GB
    miniSD (with adapter): 32MB-2GB
    microSD (with adapter): 512MB-4GB
Memory Stick Pro Duo(with adapter): 256MB-4GB
As you see the SDHC is supported

  • HP Pavilion dv6 card reader won't detect some SDHC cards

    Notebook Hp Pavilion dv6-6104so
    Windows 7 - 64 bits
The notebook's card reader won't detect some of our SDHC cards. We have updated the driver to the latest version, Realtek PCIE 6.1.7601.90, and the BIOS, but it still won't recognize some of our cards.
We have six SDHC cards, three SanDisk (4, 32 and 32 GB), two Kingston (8 and 8 GB) and one Integral (4 GB). The card reader recognizes four of them (4 and 32 GB SanDisk cards and one of the two Kingston cards). What is strange and that you may have already noticed is that the card reader recognizes only one of two cards with the same brand and capacity!
About the two cards that don't get recognized in our notebook, they work properly in their corresponding cameras and are detected without problems by another HP Pavilion dv6-3138so notebook card reader, as well as by two netbooks of ours from two different brands.
When we connect the cameras (one Canon and one Sony, both point-and-shoot) to the computer via a USB 2.0 cable, the laptop detects the cameras and through them we can access the cards.
We purchased the laptop less than two weeks ago in Helsinki, Finland.
Thank you in advance for your help!

    Hey Everyone,
Using a high capacity card in a standard card reader slot will cause this issue. Im going to guess that the cards you ar having issues with are the SDHC cards and not the standard SD cards. As Naoto stated, by using a camera as a card reader you an workaround this. You can also look into SDHC card reader adapters. Here is a good article on the SDHC cards: http://goo.gl/lj5Fq
    Hope this helps!

  • SDHC cards not working anymore on Lenovo U310

    Hello,
The integrated SD card reader of my Lenovo U310 used to work fine until a couple of months ago.
However, now it does not read SDHC cards (it used to read them)! It reads fine standard SD cards, and also micro SDHC cards (using their adapter of course).
My girlfriend owns my same laptop and she has no problem at all! Her laptop has always read fine SDHC cards.
The device manager recognizes the SDHC card and if I go to “my pc” I cannot see it there unless I tick the “Hidden Items”.
I tried to uninstall and reinstall the drivers
Download and install the official “Alcor CardReader Driver” from the official Lenovo U310 support page
Comparing the drivers the computer uses with the drivers on my girlfriend computer and they are identical!!
Change the drive letter from disk management
    Format and re-installed Windows 8.1 64bits
    Nothing helped!
Please note that if I uninstall the drivers and re-insert the SDHC card, the computer plays the sound and install the drivers, but the card remains not accessible.

  • HT4101 Is there a way to transfer pictures on iPad to the SDHC card?

I have read the iPad camera kit connection information but did not understand how to transfer pictures to a SDHC card.  Is there something else to read to obtain instructions?  Thanks.

Thanks for your response.  I have used up all my cloud space with picture and videos.  Thought I'd use such cards to manage and store them there.  I would probably have the same situation if I was trying to export from iPad to an external hard drive, huh?  I sure appreciate your time and thoughts on this.  I'm going to try to load to laptop and then to the card.  Thanks again.

  • SDHC cards not recognized, xD cards read perfectly

I have a problem with the card reader in my HP x18 1080ED notebook.
When I put a 2GB xD memory card in the slot the card is recognized and shows up in My Computer and I can view the contents.
But when I put in a SDHC card, 256MB or 8GB of 16GB, the light besides the reader lights up 8 times and then nothing happens. The card is not showing up in My Computer.
I updated the driver, reinstalled it but no effect. I also check the cards in another computer also HP and the cards work on that computer. What is the problem can anyone help me!
    Thanks, hope you can help.

your computer is a dv8-1080ed Correct?
If so it may not support the SDHC type card.  I would got to the HP website and search Product information and Troubleshooting tab, in the Manuals section there should be a entry called External Media where it will list the type of cards your system supports. For the dv8-1080ed It doesn't appear that the SDHC cards are supported.

  • 16 GB SDHC card and Ze

I saw a class 6 Patriot Signat Line Flash 6GB SDHC Card, and has a transfer speed of minimum at 6.0MB/s. The features are down below. I wanna know if anyone tell me that my 4gig Zen would be compatible with this SDHC card, and will the speed qick enough to play videos Thanks! And also that if anyone know what's this card's difference with sanDisk's micro SDHC, how special is this micro thing
    Complies with SDA 2.0 Specifications<
    High level of copy protection<
    Compatible with SDHC slot devices<
Write protection switch to avoid accidental data deletion<
    Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC)<
Write SpeedClass 6: 6MB/s minimum sustained write speed<

When you enter "Memory Card" off the Zen's main menu and select the "Browse" item does the Zen say "Media not detected" or otherwise misbehave? If not, try selecting the "Removeable Disk" menu item and then connect the Zen to your computer via the USB cable. If things are working properly your computer should show you a new removable disk icon representing the storage space on the memory card inserted in the Zen (i.e. you'll be using the Zen itself as an SDHC-capable memory card reader).
The card may be working properly but your expectations are wrong. If you were expecting the memory card to to expand the internal memory of your Zen, and have its contents integrated into the internal music database, then you'll be disappointed. It doesn't work that way. The memory card as an independent USB Mass Storage (UMS) device with a traditional file system.
If you notebook has an internal card reader but the card doesn't show up, then it could be your internal card reader doesn't support the newer SDHC standard. Notebooks more than a couple years old very likely won't be able to see it. SDHC is different than the older SD standard. That was the case for me. I had to pick up cheap external card reader to use SDHC with my old laptop.

    Hello,
VISTA has updated those driver, and as I learnt to insert the flashcard correctly I have been able to access it :) sorry guys for circumstances but I didn´t use that port properly until today ;)
By the way, there is a device typ called "Storagetechnology Driver" within the ControlPanel/DeviceManager. Under that are listed four different driver-types.
I don´t see any tool with which I can access Flashcards although I have installed one, strange.
    Thank you all!

  • Can anyone help. I need to reuse my SDHC cards and transfer footage from an ongoing profect to a hard drive. Can i edit from the Hard drive or am I better transferring info striaight from camera to time line

Hi I am using a JVC GY-HM100 camera which is meant to work well with final cut pro.  I have an ongoing project but need to save money and resuse the SDHC cards that are currently full of footage.
Would I be better off transferring the footage straight to the time line (as rumour has it you can do this with this camera) or store the footage on a hard drive and edit it later without risk of losing the footage.
    Many thanks
    Lindabob

    Thanks Linda,
Here's some more info for you:
This is my pet checklist for questions regarding FCP X performance - you may have already addressed some of the items but it's worth checking.
Check the spec of your Mac against the system requirements:
    http://www.apple.com/finalcutpro/specs/
Check the spec of your graphics card. If it's listed here, it's not suitable:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4664
Make sure you're using the latest version of the application - FCP X 10.0.3 runs very well on my 2009 MacPro 2 x 2.26 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon with 16 GB RAM and ATI Radeon HD 5870 1024 MB. I run it with Lion 10.7.3.
Check that you have at least 20% free space on your system drive.
If you have not already done so, move your Projects and Events to a fast (Firewire 800 or faster) external HD. Make sure the drive's formatted OS Extended (journalling's not required for video). You should always keep at least 20% free space on the Hard Drives that your Media, Projects and Events are on.
If you are getting crashes, there is some conflict on the OS. Create a new (admin) user account on your system. Do NOT import any of the settings etc from the old account - simply use FCP X from there - if it runs a lot better, there's a conflict and a clean install would be recommended - but remember, if you reinstall the system, and then use Migration Assistant (or anything else) to import all your old settings etc etc, you may well be importing the cause of the conflict in the first place.
Keep projects to 20 mins or less (about half that for Multicam). If you have a long project, work on short sections, make them into Compound Clips and then paste these into a final project for export.
If you ever experience dropped frames, I strongly recommend you use ProRes 422 Proxy - it edits and plays back like silk because the files are small but lightly compressed (not much packing and unpacking to do) - but remember to select 'Original or Optimised Media' (FCP X Preferences > Playback) just before you export your movie, otherwise it will be exported at low resolution.
If you have plenty of processor power, for the ultimate editing experience, create Optimised Media - most camera native files are highly compressed and need a great deal of processor power to play back - particularly if you add titles, filters or effects. ProRes 422 takes up much more hard drive space but is very lightly compressed. It edits and plays back superbly.
Hide Audio Waveforms at all times when you don't need them (both in Browser and Storyline / Timeline). They take up a lot of processor power. (Use the switch icon at the bottom-right of your timeline to select a format without waveforms if you don't need them at the moment, then switch back when you do).
Create folders in the Project and Events libraries and put any projects you are not working on currently, in those folders. This will help a lot. There's a great application for this, called Event Manager X - for the tiny cost it's an invaluable application.
    http://assistedediting.intelligentassistance.com/EventManagerX/
Unless you cannot edit and playback without it, turn off Background Rendering in Preferences (under Playback) - this will help general performance and you can always render when you need to by selecting the clip (or clips) and pressing Ctrl+R.
The biggest single improvement I saw in performance was when I upgraded the RAM from 8 GB to 16.
    Andy
