HP DVD Movie Writer...

As stated in the title, I have a HP DVD Movie Writer dc5000. I also have some old Hi8 tapes and a Hi8 Camcorder that I want to use to convert video with. Will this product work with FCE HD? It only has a USB port so I don't think so...But if you
know of any drivers, please tell me!
Thanks in advance,
Craig

Unfortunately the device will not work with FCE. It's a PC-only device. If all you want to do is convert your Hi8 movies directly to DVD and you have a PC, it would do the job.
However if you want to import yoru Hi8 movies into FCE then you will need a firewire-based analog-digital converter such as a Canopus ADVC-110 or a miniDV camera that supports analog-digital passthrough.

  • HP DVD Movie Writer dc3000

I have not used my dvd movie writer dc3000 for a while. When I tried to use it lately, it is asking for a disc in order to activate the software. I have since misplaced those discs which I had installed into this PC computer that I'm trying to use. I don't know why it is asking for the disc when it had already been installed. How can this be resolved? Is there anything available online? If not how can I get a copy of those discs?

You can try reinstalling your DVD driver here
    http://www8.hp.com/us/en/drivers.html
Search your computer model, and the drivers should show up for you to download and install

  • HD DVD movies played on g5

I recently bought a commercial HD DVD movie - I note that the native DVD player on my machine offers HD in the preferences, however, my disc drive (if this is the right word - i.e. where i put the DVD) rejects the HD DVD saying it is unsupported. I assume I need a new reader/disc player for HD DVD. Question therefore, are there any external firewire devices that are compatible with my set-up and if so can anyone point me in the right direction or the correct way to approach this problem, thanks.

It Wont work at all . Its a different format of dvd . The player/writer will not plat this type of dvd , what I think they mean or to run in it is some type of dvd or cd with some hd type format . Not the format from the store at bestbuy , like the commercial players will play . If you need to run that then look at owc . I think they have a external firewire/usb player. Im not for on that but I think I seen one there for sale . You may beable to run on with a pci sata card . If my memory severs me right they run on sata version not IDE .
Let me no if that helps you .

  • 9 out of 10 DVD movies wont play

    Hi all,
9 out of 10 DVD movies wont play on my mac G5. They worked a couple of months ago. And as far a I know, there is nothing wrong with my DVD writer, cause i can read/write data, audio and self made dvd movies.
The dvd movies themselves are the right region code...
Also, I just bought a 23" Cinema display with one dead pixel, should I return it?
    Best,
    Tim.

    Hi tim jans,
I don't know much about the PPC G5 since I have a MacPro and you have posted here in the MacPro section but I'll try to help anyway.
    1) Did you update DVD player?
    2) It happed to me a few times that my MacPro would not recognize DVDs after being on for wuite a prolonged time with other apps. I simply restart the Mac and everything comes back to normal.
    3) Has your problem started when you got your Cinema Display? I heard you need a higher end Video Card to be compatible with the Cinema Displays but I'm not certain if it applies with all the Cinema Displays.
    4) If you have a dead pixel on your expensive Cinema Display, I would certainly return it since they cost so much.
    5) Have been able to watch movies with another monitor hooked onto your G5?
PS: Have you tried posting in the PPC G5 section?
Hope this helps in any way.
    Rio.

  • What DVD (read write) media is the most reliable.

On a new Mac Pro, should I use DVD+RW or DVD-RW, and what brand.

Check out http://www.macsales.com optical drives and media section.
I have not had any issue with Verbatim +RW.
If you type "DVD " into the Search field above next to "Support" will take you to Apple Store where 20 pack Verbatim $19.95.
I know there use to be a site that delved into all things related to DVD media.

There are 2 major DVD formats, and 6 within those. DVD+ and DVD-. The DVD+ standard has advantages when it comes to video recording on TV DVD recorders. They can start recording faster, so it's much easier to put the disc in and hit record to write your favorite show to disc immediately. For PC data, there is very little difference between DVD+ and DVD-. DVD+ will most likely win the format 'war'.
DVD- is the DVD-forum approved standard, and it uses the regular DVD logo with Recordable and Rewritable. It's basically the same technology as CD-R and CD-RW.
Those are the two main formats, but there are several discs within those:
    DVD+R - Write-once media conforming to the DVD+ standard. 4.7Gb, up to 16X speed.
DVD-R - Write-once media conforming to the DVD- standard. 4.7Gb, up to 8X speed.
DVD+RW - Rewriteable media from the DVD+ standard. 4.7Gb, up to 4X speed.
DVD-RW - Rewriteable media from the DVD- standard. 4.7Gb, up to 2.4X speed.
    DVD+R DL - Dual-layer write-once media from the DVD+ standdard. 8.5Gb, up to 2.4X speed.
DVD-RAM - ReWriteable media from a subset of the DVD- standard. NOT common, and very expensive, but EXCELLENT for use as a large floppy disk drive. Only a few consumer drives write to DVD-RAM discs, mainly those made by LG.
If you want to record movies, you should be aware that DVD+R media is less compatible with TV DVD-players (especially older ones). Also, some PC DVD-ROM drives won't read DVD+R discs.

  • IDVD 08 audio/video sync drift toward end of DVD movie - fix/workaround?

Anyone know how I can fix this issue? It's driving me crazy.
I've just spent a few evenings in iMovie 08, editing together the video of my son's birth. All looked & amazingly good in iMovie. The "Large" .m4v file output by iMovie - Shared with the Media Browser - plays perfectly in Quicktime too.
However, after adding that shared movie to iDVD 08, and burning a DVD, I noticed that the audio sync drifts toward the end of the Movie when plated back. At the start of the DVD all seems well, but by the end of the ~1hr 20 minute movie the audio is unbearably out of sync with the video. Completely unwatchable.
After a little Googling I came across some reports that iDVD might not deal well with video that's been recorded with 12-bit audio. I've confirmed that my camcorder is (was!) set to 12-bit rather than 16-bit (the default, I'm sure). So if that's the problem I'm hosed... it's not like I can get a retake on that footage
Is there a reasonable workaround for this issue? I'm obviously unable to re-take the video (or the other 10 hours of DV video tape I've yet to use in an iMovie project). Ideally I'd like Apple to release a patch for this. Shouldn't it be possible for iDVD to account for audio that was originally recorded in 12-bit... even if it's just a checkbox you have to select to tip it off?
Then again, perhaps this is totally unrelated to the 12-bit issue, and this is just a run of the mill bug?
As I said... iMovie generates a MPEG4 video file of the Movie that looks/sounds perfect, so it seems this sync issue's being created somewhere in iDVD as it's rendering the audio/video to burn to the DVD...
    Thanks in advance.

I've tried most of the options I can think of, and the audio sync drift issue continues on this ~1hr 12 minute iMovie/iDVD 08 project.
A couple of promising ideas tried used QT Pro, to export the audio track from the iMovie generated MPEG-4 file - as a WAV file, resampling to 48kHz and 16-bit... then Adding this back to the video track in the MPEG-4 file (having deleted the original audio track). In another test I also tried the Add to Selection and Scale option. Oddly enough I think the Add to Selection and Scale attempt generated more sync issues than before in the final DVD movie... so I stuck with the MPEG-4 file containing the video track and the added, resampled at 48kHz & 16 bit, WAV audio track.
This was saved as a self contained Movie file, producing a QT .mov file. I moved this .mov file into the iDVD projects directory structure so that it was avalable in iDVD's Media Browser. I then reworked the iDVD project to use this QT large.mov file, instead of the original iMovie large.m4v file.
As a reminder... the original large.m4v file has the following properties:
    29.97 FPS H.264 Decoder, 960 x 540, Millions
    AAC, Stereo (L R), 44.100 kHz
    0:01:12:07.16 duration
The resampled and saved QT MOV file has the following properties:
    29.97 FPS H.264 Decoder, 960 x 540, Millions
16-bit Integer (Little Endian), Stereo, 48.000 kHz
    0:01:12:07.16 duration
BOTH versions of this Movie file play flawlessly within QT Pro... there's no audio sync drift evident toward the end of the movie unless I use iDVD 08 to burn either movie file to a Physical DVD (or DVD Disk Image). In both cases the resultant DVD Movie exhibits significant audio sync drift as the ~1hr 12 minute movie progresses. The sync goes out by ~ <= 1 second based on a rough visual assessment.
I've not yet tried to burn either the original iMovie produced MPEG-4 video file or my QT Pro tweaked audio track .MOV file version to a DVD on my PC...
... But I have used an application called Burn (referenced in this earlier/archived iDVD sync drift forum post: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1332100 by user F Shippey - http://burn-osx.sourceforge.net/) to take the QT Pro tweaked .mov file version of the original MPEG-4 file and burn it to a DVD...
    Results:
The Burn app burnt DVD plays with NO audio sync issues!... Even though it was generated from the same audio tweaked (48kHz/16-bit resampled) QT Pro .mov file.
However, whenever I burn a DVD using iDVD 08 the audio sync gradually drifts. It matters not whether I use the original iMovie 08 generated MPEG-4 movie file, or the QT Pro version of that file with the resampled audio track (the same one that works fine with Burn).
It sure looks to me like iDVD has a problem... Again, refer to http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1332100 for someone else who seems to have run into similar challenges.
    Am I overlooking something?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello:
This is not an area I have much experience in......I rarely insert DVDs and I have never had a similar problem.
When the DVD is in the drive (and DVD players is open) click on File>get disk info.

  • How do I turn off computer monitor when watching DVD movie on TV monitor?

I think this is really a Leopard question because it involves setting up 2 monitors in System Preferences within OSX. 1) I have a wide screen TV connected to my iMac (Intel White Late 2006) through the Mini-DVI port and a separate audio cable. This connection works fine. 2) The purpose of the TV screen is only to watch DVDs using the DVD player and iDVD in my iMac. 3) In System Preferences->Displays->Arrangement, both my computer monitor and the TV screen appear as separate monitors. I have the setting to mirror each other. With this setting, the DVD movie plays on both the iMac computer screen and on the TV screen. 4) FINALLY, MY QUESTION: When watching a DVD on the TV screen, I would like to turn off the monitor in my iMac so that the screen is dark (in sleep mode to save power, etc.); I want only the TV screen to display the movie. How do I turn off only the iMac screen? Thank you. Dale

That's impossible. It can only be done on a laptop but not on an iMac.

  • Wireless stream of DVD movie from Macbook to TV (via Apple Tv)

Just bought the Apple TV and I am trying to find a way to do a wireless stream of a DVD movie playing on my MacBook onto my TV via Apple TV. Is that possible?

I have the iPhone 4 and also an iPad ... I'm still not sure how to get from loading/playing my DVD Movie on the MacBook to transferring it to my TV using either of these iOS devices ... I'd love to learn

  • How do I use airplay to stream a DVD movie playing in my computer to display on my TV?

How do I use airplay to stream a DVD movie playing in my computer to display on my TV?
I have a 2nd generation Apple TV and computer is a 2011 Macbook Pro. Processor  2.8 GHz Intel Core i7. Memory  4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3. Graphics  Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB. Software  Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63). Storage: about 500GB free out of 750GB.
I have a DVD player within my computer. Trying to play a movie from my computer to display onto my TV using my Apple TV airplay. But the airplay icon is not showing or giving the option to play a movie onto my TV.
I've installed all software updates and still I'm not able to have this functionality.
I assume this functionality exists where I can play a DVD on my computer, but watch it on my TV using my Apple TV, correct?
Thanks for your help solving this puzzle.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, OS X 10.8 or better and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). You can see which Mac you have and which operating system you are using by selecting 'About this Mac' from the Apple menu in the top left corner of your Mac and selecting the 'More Info' button.
AirPlay Mirroring from a Mac also requires a fairly robust network.
You may find a third party product that you can use instead of AirPlay.

Installed and now when a want to install the DVD Movie Factory patch (DMF5.51_Patch_18in1_for TOSHIBA_147.05_0718)
there is no dvd creator software installed and also no cd creator...
it saids "no earlyer DMF found" and is stop and exit intalling this patch.
Now i cann't get the dvd creator software on my Satelite A-100 ..
In my earlyer OS XP MCE had a.. DVD creator DMF from Ulead for toshiba (oem) and sonic cd creator
    What can i try now?
    Reagds Okky

The fact is that both applications are part of recovery image and these applications are available if you have factory settings only. They cannot be downloaded and installed additionally.
If you want to habe them again you must install OS again using Toshiba recovery DVD.

No.  breaking the encryption in order to copy them illegal.
