HP DVD RAM UJ8DB Driver Issue, not updating, please help

Hi, I am trying to insert cd/ dvd but it does not detect any cd or dvd i found this issue today. It never showed this issue in the past. I checked on forums, opened device mangager and also tried to uninstall, restart and update or install driver for HP UJ8DB, but it doesn't fix it says windows has determined the driver software is up to date. Please help me fast i want to install antivirus software. I have windows 8.1 PC

The above Microsoft article will take you through the possible issues. Does the drive show up in device manager? The BIOS?
Can you boot from it? It is likely either a corruption of the registry which the linked article shows how to fix, or the drive itself is bad and needs to be replaced. Post back to answer the questions so we can help.

Try this:
Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.

Serious Issues after update, PLEASE HELP!!!!

Two nights ago i did a software update. Shut the computer down everything was fine. Im not sure the software update worked properly. When i restarted the computer later that evening, all i got was the gray screen with the apple. A friend was searching forums for me over the internet while we were trying to fix it. Did the CTRL OPTION R P thing and that didnt work. Did the CTRL S and that didnt work. Next day went and bought a Snow Leapord cd. After three hours the status bar moved appx 3/4 of an inch. Took it to apple. They wiped the Hardrive clean and reinstalled Snow Leapord to it. Now it restarts and operates. However, it takes about 15 min for it to start up and get to the desktop and it runs TERRIBLY slow. It has a 500g hard drive that was put in 2 weeks ago. It also has 2g of RAM. After taking it to apple it is only showing 1.5G of RAM after the wiped the hard drive. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!! Everything was working fabulous prior to 2 nights ago.

Well I just rewiped the hardrive clean and reinstalled snow leapord. IT WORKED!!!!!! Computer is running fast as could be, start ups in less than 30 seconds, no lagging. Im really happy as i bought this computer from a good friend and its less than a week since ive had it. I think ill just live with the ram still showing 1.5g. I think ill wait and just go get 2 4g sticks when i get around to it that way It will be as fast as possible and ill be using the ports to their full potential.

Audio driver issues... please help!

I just purchased a new Asus computer, it's really nice... however I have Realtek HD, which doesn't seem to have a stereo option, it only comes out of the right speaker. When I try to record, it's the same issue.
Do I need to purchase a new audio driver?
Unless anyone knows how I can change the buffer size with the default "Audition 3.0 Windows Sound" to a lower number, since I'm trying to record in multitrack mode with the metronome.
I have ASIO4ALL v2 as well, but it's the same issue because of no stereo mic option...
Someone please help... several week headache.

Even when I have the mono mix it's recording exactly in the center... how can I get it to pan the channel or have it record in both?
Also, is there any way I can lower the buffer rate for the default "Audition 3 Windows Sound" so I can use a metronome without it delaying it?

HT1539 Digital copy code on the DVD Knight and Day saying 'not valid', please help.

I bought the DVD Knight and Day and i have tried to download the digital copy of the film, however when i go to add my serial number for itunes which was on the slip in the dvd box, it says ' this code is not valid', i have entered the code many times and correctly, please help.

From what I can tell, the digital copy offer for Alvin & the Chipmunks expired back in March; at least it did for the Blu-Ray version in the US. This is a scam being run by the movie studios; they advertise digital copies on the Blu-Ray and DVD disks they sell, but don't tell you up front that they're redeemable only for a limited time after the movie is first released. You may need to contact customer support for 20th Century Fox and get them to help:

Podcast not updating - Please help!!

When I tried to update my radio show pod cast today, it flashed like it was going to update, then it stopped. No matter how many times I click on "Update", the same thing happens. This has never happened before. PLEASE HELP!

Your feed has 14 episodes in it, the last being dated November 15th and entitled BCN 11/14/10. All 14 appear in the Store and when subscribing.
Your feed links to a site at http://bednaz.tumblr.com/ . This shows three more recent episodes, added 1 day ago. These have not made it into the feed - hence their non-appearance in the Store. This is something you will have to investigate at Tumblr: it's not an iTunes problem.
Once you get the episodes into the feed and republish it, they will take around 2 days to appear in the Store, though they will appear immediately for subscribers.

Some NTFS drives will not mount - PLEASE HELP

For years I have heard "Apple fan-boys" preaching about how MAC is much better than PC. I am one of the idiots that bought into the hype, and I am regretting it tremendously. I spent over $4000 this month converting my family's computers from PC to Mac, and I am finding it to be one of the biggest mistakes of my life. I have had nothing but problems.
My latest and greatest problem is getting my Mac(s) to mount and read some NTFS drives. I know NTFS does write on MAC without external software, but I am not trying to write NTFS with my Macs. I bought a Glyph 8TB external hard drive that is formatted for Mac. I am simply trying to take five different NTFS external hard drives, and drag their data onto my new 8TB Glyph drive that is formatted to Mac. Here is where it gets weird. I have 2 Samsung 500GB drives (NTFS) that mounted automatically, read and data transferred to my new Mac formatted drive (HTP+) without any problems. But I have 2 Glyph 6TB (NTFS) drives, and a Toshiba 2TB (NTFS) drive - none of which will mount. They didn't mount automatically, like the Samsung drives. They do all show up in disk utility, but when you click "mount" is gives you the "mount failed" error (with the "repair" option grayed out, and unavailable). When plugged back into a PC, all three of the drives function perfectly - so clearly the drives are fine. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone can help. I have spent an entire day of my life searching forums for resolutions on this one simple issue. I see a ton of people are having similar issues. Unlike PC forums that have always been easily able to resolve my major issues with a quick search, it seems that these NTFS mounting issues have Apple, and the entire Apple community, stumped.
To anyone considering the Mac vs. PC conversion, think long and hard before you convert to Mac. The Macs are more fun for video, music and photo editing. But for every other practical application I find that PC was much better. I am regretting giving Apple over $4000 of business. I wish that I could return all 4 Macs that I purchased.

Iphone 3G will not update - please help

Dear all
I am having repeated problems updating the software on my iPhone 3G and have not been able to do so for almost a year.
I am using the latest version of iTunes and the software downloads fine. The problem occurs during the back up. iTunes tells me it will back up my apps, contacts etc and then the back up box pops up and the green progress line run through a few times. It then (extremely slowly) climbs to three green bars and then nothing happens.
I have had problems backing up before but I managed to make a back up last night with no problems. I then tried to update the software, left it for four hours and exactly the same thing happened. Today's attempt has been going for 30 mins and is only at one bar at the moment.
I have tried everything people have suggested on these discussion pages including using different cables, USB ports, deleting previous back ups, configuring my firewall (Norton) and turning it off altogether. The only thing I haven't tried is restoring the phone - I'm loathe to do so as I don't trust iTunes not to screw the whole thing up now.
Could this be a problem syncing my contacts? iTunes tells me it wants to do this but I don't recall setting anything up with Outlook to do this.
Can anyone help - I know this is a common problem, all you need to do is put "cannot up" in to Google and one of the most popular searches is "cannot update iPhone"!! There surely must be a solution, can anyone help before I go crazy?

Hi What could be happening is slow internet connection, obviously with every update your itunes connects to apple and open a communication to assess if your phone can upgrade... etc...
but if you have a slow connection that authorisation period my elapse meaning that the communication with apple is disconnected...
if you look online for IPSW files and find the one you want - there are a few sites out there that do this and more often than not they link direct from apple...
once this is downloaded open itunes then CTRL + click update, then go find the file you just downloaded, and this should allow you to upgrade...
This is the sam process I have used for Beta Software and on my mates 3G to get him on to the latest 4.1 as he was for ages stuck on 4.0...

Simulator is not updateing please help.

I am very new at Xcode programming and have been working through a tutorial provided by apple. It has a classic hello world program and switches to a to do list program. I will provide the address for the tutorial at the end.
The tutorial instructed for me to remove the "Hello world" label and enter in a text field box. Everything looked great, but when I clicked on simulator it still only contained the label "Hello World" instead of the changes I had made.
I did some research on the internet and found some information about resolving layout issues. I removed all constraints and used the command for new constraints to be auto built. Unfortunately, this approach did not work ether.
I also tried deleting the app from the simulator and re-ran the app and this also did not show the new display.
Does anyone else have any advice on what I am missing.

JTree not Updating - please help

I am totally perplexed.
I created a pretty standard implmentation of a JTree, utilizing the DefaultTreeModel, DefaultMutableTreeNodes, etc. The JTree is contained in a JScrollPane. The tree displays a string value that is one of the properties of the UserObject of the node, for which purpose I created my own subclass renderer and an editor. A JButton causes a new node to be added to the root node. All was working fine, until...
I put the JTree and the TreeModel in a new class, along with the method to populate it. I created a method that passes a handle to the JTree ("getTree()") which I use to instantiate the JScrollPane ("new JScrollPane(tree)"). Now when I add a node to the root, it doesn't display!
I have tried "tree.revalidate()", "tree.updateUI()", "scrollpane.revalidate()", "tree.repaint()", "dialog.repaint()" all to no avail. If I close the dialog and reopen it, everything displays fine.
Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

An iPhone backup to a computer via iTunes stores the photos in a backup file that is only meant to be be used if needed to restore back to the phone. There is 3rd party "extractor" software available but otherwise the photos are not directly viewable.
The backup via iTunes was a good idea and your Camera Roll photos should be there and should be able to be restored to your new phone. However if it was me I wouldn't rely on that alone. I would also import the photos to a computer where you can see and verify that you have a copy. That is a good idea at any time (not just when you know you might need it). Any phone can be lost, broken, suffer hardware issues, etc at any time and lose all data on it. Else the only option you have is to fight with the Apple Store "geniuses" to get a free replacement for out of warranty 4S devices. Or try a third party repair like iFixit. The wifi chip might cost you 60-80$ but it is better than paying Apple 200$.
Overheating is the culprit in 4S devices. And its been getting worse with ever successive iOS 7 update. I think 7.0.4 was the final nail in the coffin.
They are not getting my money anymore.. I've had iPhones every since they launched... but no more. Feels like a dead investment after facing this issue. I can never sell my iPhone 4S even if I want to. There have been cases where users just sold their 4S devices, the new owner updated to 7.0.4, wifi stopped working and the seller had to give a refund.
I'm basically sitting on a 650$ white brick. Hmm... I wonder if white bricks sell higher than the standard red bricks

TBH, I can't get a replacement because I am in India where 4S was never launched as an unlocked device and there are no Apple retail stores. Only resellers here like Vodafone/Reliance/Airtel.
