HP Elitebook display on HP Touchsmart 310PC Monitor???

Hi everyone
My Hewlett Packard 310 All in One PC at home does not appear to have the inputs available in order to display the picture from my new HP Elitebook.
Attached is a link to the details of the PC that I have at home. Could you please confirm as to whether there is any extension cable available that will enable the two machines to hook up and to be able to display the picture from the Elitebook onto the 310PC?

The desktop is a 20 inch screen and is much more convenient to view when working from home.
I look forward to hearing from you in due course.
Thanks for your assistance.
The main ports on my HP 310 are:

1 - Audio out
2 - LAN (ethernet)
3 - Four USB 2.0 ports
4 - DC power connector
RIGHT
1 - Memory card reader
2 - Headphone audio output
3 - Line-level audio input
LEFT
1 - Two USB 2.0 ports

Hello cherryj111:
Welcome to HP's forum. Yes your computer has USB ports and that is all that is needed. You need wireless Internet connection and a double sided male USB cord.  On your Touchsmart open up Network under control panel in all programs list. On the left side you will see a list click on Homegroup then next window click on Create a homegroup follow those directions. Make sure you check mark all the files you can share. Remember the password. So you can use it on the other computer. Now that for sharing files. In order to remotely excess your other computer and work it from the touchsmart you need to connect to the laptop with the USB cord. HP took out email some one to connect to your computer by remote to help you. That method was easier to set up because all you needed was to do was email your self and open it up on the other computer. It use to be in HP's Support Assistant. So now we have to do it the hard way instead above.
When you connect by wire connection the other computer screen goes blank while it is being excessed by the other computer you also need to remeber both computers must have the same windows.
Any time you want to connect to your computer wireless ounce you have set up home group. Make sure the other computer is on and connected wireless internet. Open up Computer on the left you will see the other computer listed under Network just click on it and it will allow you to excess the other computer's shared files only. If you like to move software from one computer to other you can do that all so by copping the the software files and saving it to My Documents and move it that way. If you need help let us know. You are welcome frrw.

  • I am stumped I do not understand why my roommates macbook pro when duel screened will display perfectly on my monitor while mine refuses to, but mine will display perfectly when using another monitor that is not mine. Please help me out.

One day when using my duel display the second monitor decided it wouldn't display at full resolution in the middle of doing something i was confused. I use a mini display to hdmi then hdmi to the second monitor. I thought maybe the converter or cable died. I bought another another mini display to hdmi and tried another hdmi cord and the same issue. My roommate has macbook pro as well so i decided to see if it was the monitor, when i pluged the mini display converter into his and used the external monitor it displayed perfectly not below resolution. Doing this I knew it was not the monitor or the mini display to hdmi or the hdmi cable. I took it into the genuis bar assuming now that it was my grapics card or logic board. When the genuis went to duel screen it on a cinema display it displayed perfectly. So went home tried to duel screen it again and still not displaying at full resolution. That is where I am stuck, in summary:
My screen used to display perfect resolution on a second monitor and suddenly did not.
Tested two mini display to hdmi and hdmi cords both were fine.
Tested to see if monitor was issue but displayed perfectly when i used roommates laptop.
Went to genius bar and displayed perfectly on second monitor so it can display perfect resolution on apples monitors but will not do so anymore on my monitor, even though roommates macbook pro will display perfect resolution on my monitor.
    I am beyond confused.

Apparently you have tried everything except - take the monitor in question to the Apple Store along with your computer.  If it works there, the mystery continues.

  • How do I get my laptop to remember different display arrangements for different external monitors?

I have a couple of different places where I work, and in both places there is an external monitor. As it turns out, the external monitor is on the left in one place and on the right in the other. They are different monitors, too (one's an old dell and one's a mac monitor). I remember in previous versions of Mac OS X, my MacBook would remember the display arrangement depending on which monitor was connected, and place my secondary desktop on the correct side. In Mavericks, it seems to maintain the arrangement from the last place that I changed it.
What this means is rather than my computer remembering where my external monitor should be, I have to change the arrangement of my monitors every time I switch desks.
Is this a feature that Apple removed from Mavericks? Was I imagining things in older versions of OSX?

No. You can't. It's not an external drive.

  • 27" iMac Powers Up - Black Display - Able To Use External Monitor

I have a strange problem, but I believe it's a software problem and maybe could get some help here before lugging it over to the apple store for the second time in 3 months.
    - Today when I turned on my 2010 27" iMac it booted up, gave me the start up sound, my external hard drive turned on, fans were going, but the monitor remained off which never happens. The night before I hadn't done anything out of the ordinary like changing settings or installing anything.
    - I tried turning up the brightness on the keyboard and that didn't work.
    - I shined a flashlight into the screen to see if I could see a faint desktop as if the backlight had gone out, but saw nothing.
    - I turned on my external Acer monitor and to my surprise my entire desktop was on that external monitor which I've never seen happen. It's almost like the computer knew the screen was dead and shifted everything over onto that monitor.
    HERE'S WHERE IT GETS WEIRD....
    - I put the computer to sleep. When I went to awake it from sleep I turned on the external monitor and to my surpise the iMac screen turned on as well, but my desktop was still located on the external monitor. It remains on. It doesn't flicker or turn off after 10 minutes, it remains on.
    - I turned off the computer and did an SMC restart which I know is mostly BS for any of the other times I've had problems with the iMac. I figured it would not work and it didn't.
    - I can get the iMac screen to come on, but ONLY after it wakes up from sleep, but it's still situating everything on the external monitor. It's as if the iMac is treating it's own screen as an external monitor.
So it's not that my graphics card is dead or my backlight burned out. It's just a matter of telling the computer to turn on the display.
If anyone can help me out I would greatly appreciate it!
    - Joe

Tried to Safe Boot, didn't work.
Did one PRAM reset it didn't work. I'll try your suggestion of 3 in a row and see if that works.
I have a temporary solution on how to get the iMac display to work after freak luck:
    1) Turn the computer on from being shut down. iMac display is dead. Ext. monitor works with my desktop on it.
    2) Put the computer to sleep.
    3) Wake the computer up from sleep, but make sure the external monitor is turned off. The iMac's monitor turns on, but the iMacs monitor is treated as an external monitor with nothing on it. I can only slide things over from the external monitor onto the iMac screen.
    4) Restart the computer
    5) Desktop and everything goes back and gets situated on the iMac display.
I can put it to sleep, but once I shut it down I have to start all over again. At this point my guess is a boot up issue. Because after the iMac screen does turn on from sleep and I restart it everything works fine. It's just getting the screen to come on when it boots up from shut down is the problem.
I will most likely be taking the iMac to the Apple Store. In some misplaced, weird way I get a kick out of it because everytime I bring a problem to them, they've never seen such a problem before, so with my luck they've probably never seen this before.
Thanks again for your help BDAqua!

  • Photoshop window does not display unless connected to external monitor

I use a MBP connected it to an Apple Cinema Display used as an external monitor (not a dual display) when in my studio.
When I use Adobe Photoshop CS 5 without the monitor the image window does not display on the MBP. If I plug the external monitor in, the window is displayed correctly on the MBP. Photoshop is opening and "displaying" the image window offscreen. Nothing gets it back onscreen, except plugging in the external monitor.
I often use Photoshop away from my studio so this is a big problem. PShop is essentially unusable unless connected to an external monitor.
    Is this a known issue?
    Any workarounds?
    Any ideas?
There is a previous discussion on this topic from January 2012, but it remains open and unanswered. Hoping there are some new ideas. Thanks for the help.

The MacOS still thinks the second display is available and valid -- so Photoshop puts the documents on the last used display and the OS doesn't give any errors.
Once the OS notices the change in display configuration, Photoshop should go back to the main display and force images and dialogs back to the main display.
Applications rely on the OS for the display configuration, and sometimes the OS gets confused or holds onto outdated configurations a bit too long...

  • MacBook Pro display usable as a reference monitor for a camera shoot?

I am shooting a video project and wish to try and use my 17" Mac Pro display screen as a reference monitor on a live mini-DV camera shoot for focus and color versus lugging around a heavier CRT and battery back. Will the MacPro display be sufficient to significantly judge color, exposure, and focus? I know it's not ideal, but with improvements in LCD displays over the last few years I would like to hear from other users who may have tried using their display screens in this way and see what their results were.
    Many thanks,
    John

While the answer in itself is probably no, you could however spend some time to get yourself a known comparitive situation. With some careful calibration and comparison to a final result you should be able to get it to a point where, while not perfect, you know what you're going to get.
By the way, the matte display will produce far more consistent colour than the glossy display.
Utlimately though for the best results the suggested CRT solution is the one to go for even though it's somewhat a pain.

  • X220 shows display name as "Generic PnP Monitor", it's supposed to be IPS.

I ordered an X220 with IPS long time ago.
I remember seeing a while ago the name as "Wide viewing angle & High density FlexView Display 1366 x 768" but now that I see this "Generic PnP Monitor" I am not sure if it was my imagination or infact the name of the monitor changed in the device manager.
I checked the Hardware Ids and it is MONITOR\LEN40E2, and googled a bit about that and looks like it's an IPS panel anyway.
So why the change of name? or is this really a cheap TN panel? Lenovo sent me a X220 with wrong display configuration?
    I am confused

you have an IPS display.   most likely your monitor INF file was overwritten, perhaps by windows update or a manual change.
you can reinstall it using the file here: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?LegacyDocID=MIGR-62923

  • How to display detail message in channel monitor

    Hi,
I have developed a module for mail adapter.
In the module, sometimes I will throw ModuleException like this:
    ModuleException me = new ModuleException("You are not allowed here!",e);
    throw me;
But in channel monitor, I could only see the exception like this:
exception caught during processing mail message [8]com.sap.aii.af.lib.mp.module.ModuleException
I can't find "You are not allowed here!" in the channel monitor directly. I know I could find it in trace or auditlog, but, is it possible to display these words in channel monitor directly?
    Thanks.

  • Desktop not accepting HP-Display - Compaq WF1907 Wide LCD Monitor update

    All...
My desktop not accepting the HP-Display - Compaq WF1907 Wide LCD Monitor update.  I've tried many times since 1/10/2008.  Its really just annoying more than anything else.  Anyone know why I can't get this update into my computer.  I've never had any other problem with my Compaq-Presario GG060AA-ABA SR5127CL.  Maybe I should just count my blessings and overlook this anomaly.  Thanks.
P.S.  I just noticed that I put this message under the Notebook category.  Oh well, maybe someone can answer my question anyway.

Here's the basic steps , including checking the parameters.   My all time favorite,  using reverse logic (sometimes).

  • TUNGSTEN E Had to be reinstalled, now my display/resolution on my monitor has changed to fuzzy and I can't hot sync any longer

Due to a system crash, I had to reinstall my software for my Tungsten E.  I've tried a few times using my disk, tried a couple of times getting the download from Palm, but each time I reinstall the software, the display on my computer's monitor changes the icons to fuzzy instead of the way they were, and the colors of all the other graphics have completely changed as well.  It now it won't sync up to Outlook as it did before.  Does any one know why this would be happening?  The only difference I can come up with from before my system crashed to after the crash is Internet Explorer 7 to 8.

How to select my custom monitor calibration profile into Lightroom 5.7?  I used i1 Display Pro to calibrate my monitor, I could not find or confirm that Lightroom is using my custom monitor calibration profile? Thank you very much.

The monitor profile is set at system level. Lightroom will find it there and use it. You're not supposed to do anything, i1 Profiler will do it all for you.
Go here to confirm that the right profile is set as system default (Windows):

  • Display Artifacts on MBPr Multi-Monitor Setup (+Solution)

    Hey everyone,
I'm fortunate enough to have access to 3 MBPr in 3 different environments. I've confirmed that this bug is present on all MBPrs:
    How to replicate:
    - 2 1080p or higher monitors, one using a DVI -> DisplayPort adapter and the other using HDMI or HDMI -> DisplayPort (It doesn't matter)
    - 2 external monitors arranged so that they are "Above" the internal display and the internal display is centered, below both monitors (I'm talking about the Displays Arrangement tool, not necessarily physically, FYI)
    - Move your title bar so that the RIGHT external monitor has the menu bar.
    - Your MBPr is setup to Scaled, "More Space" (1920x1200)
With this exact setup, you have now introduced display artifacts at the bottom of your retina display.  Specifically near the bottom left. You can replicate this every time if you use mission control to display all spaces. (Swipe up with three fingers on trackpad).
The severeity of the artifacts changes from MBPr to MBPr and depending on how centered your retina display is. I believe this is a spaces / geometry bug when using scaling.
To work around this issue, simply move your menu bar to the LEFT monitor, or keep it on the internal display. You can also re-arrange the displays to make this go away. But I find having the menu on the left is the least impactful work around.
Can anyone confirm what I'm posting here?

Great information. I can confirm that fixes the problem... But unfortunately it isn't ideal, since my MBPr is below my two external monitors. I'd rather have the menu bar on one of the two monitors...
Sadly this issue is still present on OSX Mavericks. But since it has menu bars on every monitor, I might be able to get away with making the MBPr the primary  monitor... Will test to confirm.

I have HP touchsmart 310pc with window 7 operating system, recently i download the window 8 system, but all of my other software came with window 7 gone, like microsoft word, excel, spreedsheet, and games. How can I get them back?

    Hi,
Probably you've done a clean install. Can you see C:\Windows.old folder ? If yes you can roll back to Windows 7 then reinstall Windows 8 using option to keep everything. Otherwise can be a very long, long, long task and can't recover everything.
    Regards.
