HP ENVY 6 Speakers Sound Bad (REVERB)

Hi everyone,
I've bought my HP ENVY Ultrabook 6-1111TX laptop a couple of days ago.
I really do love this laptop except for the speakers. (Which I'm guessing should sound better than average because of the whole Beats Audio thingy.)
Ever since i turned it on, i've noticed that the sound from the speakers comes out with a LOT of reverb. It seems as though the speakers just arent capable of handling the simple windows BEEP sound without buzzing. (The default Sound Test sounds good however?)
At first i thought this might be a driver issue, so i updated everything to the latest drivers (IDT 6.10.6433.0) but this didnt help at all. Then i tried unistalling the IDT driver compleately. The default Windows8 sound driver makes the speakers sound pretty quiet but it didnt make any buzzing at all. I reinstalled the IDT drivers - buzzing again. Then I got the idea that it might be the  beats audio settings, If i turn off beats audio the buzzing stops (as far as i can tell) but the background noise is still there. Then I tried different settings in the equalizer. After a while I got it to sound less iritating but still I realized that it's not really helping that much.
I finally gave up and came here for help.
These are the default settings with which the speakers sound.. well... bad...
(Speaker Tone Controls on Bass 4 / Treble 4)
My audio drivers:
BiOS: F.23
Other things i tried:
Turning HP Coolsense On/Off - no difference
AC Power/Battery Power - no difference
Pluging in My External Speakers (Creative 2.1) - seems like it sounds good.. no buzzing/crackling/reverb or anything?
Soooo, any suggestions please?

Hello Šlapias,
You’re having a problem with your speakers making a buzzing sound.
What is the product number of your laptop?
If you are able to connect external speakers to the laptop, it could be that the internal speakers are bad.
Please respond at your earliest convenience.
Clicking the White Kudos star on the left is a way to say Thanks!
Let me know how everything goes.
Have a good day.

  • Speakers sound issue on Envy 14 Beats Edition

    Hi all,
For few days now, my one year Envy 14 has a weird speakers sound issue. When the sound level passes over 50%, there is a lot of scratches and distorsion on the speaker, in that case, it is not usable at all.
Note that this issue does not happen on the jack outputs, with a headset, the sound is perfect, or it is as it also was on the speakers some days ago.
I'm posting here to be able to find the source of the issue. My Envy runs Ubuntu from the beginning, I've just tested with a old Ubuntu LiveCD and the problem is the same, so this is not a Ubuntu or software issue.
Now, my main question is does this come from the speakers themselves? From the audio board? From the main board? How can I diagnose?
    Thanks for your help.

I have the same exact problem with mine. I have a problem with my webcam as well. They are both hardware problems and need to new parts. If I knew where to get them I would have have told you.

I've recently spilt a little bit of water on my Macbook Pro 13" and some of it went into the keyboard, the first thing I did was get paper towels and dry it off, everything is except now the speakers sound different, and a little bit lower in volume, basically the speakers just sound weird, there's no word to describe it, I can't really hear any bass from my speakers

Liquid spills, why your MacBook chassis is a one-way valve for spills
After a substantial spill many people will turn their notebook upside down and shake it, not only does this not work, but it spreads liquid havoc throughout your machine and makes things often as bad as possible.
The keyboard itself acts like a one way valve in the case of a substantial liquid spill. While liquid pours into the bottom chassis easy, it does not come out easily at all, and in the case of any spill, most of it will not come out by turning it upside down. Disconnect all power and contact Apple for diagnostics and repair.
Do not attempt to, after a spill, ‘dry out your MacBook’ and test it
After a spill most people invariably try to “dry out” their notebook by various methods, including hair dryers and otherwise. This both does not work, and after a substantial spill of any magnitude, even if the liquid was water, residue is left behind.
There are additionally many very tight places inside your notebook where liquids will linger for a very long time, and cause corrosion or worse.
Immediately unplug your notebook and contact Apple for in shop diagnostics and parts replacement.
In the case of very minor spills people will “dry out” their notebook and feel success that their notebook is working ok, however invariably in nearly all instances after 4-14 days an error / fault pops up and is usually followed by more.
In case of a spill, damage estimates are impossible,.....anything can be fixed, without question.......the question is cost.
contact Apple for in shop diagnostics and cost estimation ....possible parts replacement.

  • ENVY X2 - HDMI SOUND

When I hooked up my Envy x2 to my TV via the HDMI port I had good looking Video but no sound. The sound was still coming out of the Envy's speakers. I couldn't find any setting to change it in the sound or speaker settings. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
    This question was solved.

  • Sound from speakers sound like it's coming from a tin can

I just bought a Toshiba Satellite L505-S5971 and the sound from the speakers sound like it's coming from a tin can.  The volume never really reaches a very loud volume even at 100%.  I've checked all of the settings for the Realteck HD Audio control panel and I've check the device manager and drivers and all seems ok.  Does anyone have any suggestions on what could be wrong or is that the way it's supposed to sound?  If this is the way it sounds I am very disappointed.

The Realtek HD Audio driver low volume level plagues a great many of us. One workaround is to try the following which tends to improve the volume levels:
First, either download and install the latest Toshiba audio drivers for your laptop via the Toshiba Support web site, or download and install the latest Realtek HD Audio drivers from the Realtek website.
Second, once the audio drivers have been updated, enable "Loudness Equalization" on either the Start -->  Hardware and Sound --> Realtek HD Audio Manager --> Sound Effects tab, then click OK to save the setting change. Or on the Start -->  Hardware and Sound --> Sound --> Speaker Properties (select Speakers then the Properties button) --> Enhancements tab, scroll down the list of sound effects to enable "Loudness Equalization" then select the OK button to save the setting changes.
Once the Realtek drivers have been updated and the "Loudness Equalization" has been enabled the system sound audio level is much louder, however the DVD and Audio CD audio levels might continue to be low.

  • Yeasterday day any headphone sound is messed up though speakers sound fine.

when headphones, any headphones, are plugged in sound is very static with weak sound in left ear. It is worse with music/talk then 'sounds'.  took headphones out and speakers sound fine.  This just started.  I am using a ipad 3 and ios 7.04.

In Creative media player click on tools and then settings. Click general and under play back sound devices, ensure your card is selected thus to the device features.
    And/or to double check.
    Type in run
    "C:\Program Files\Creative\MediaSource\Audio Device Selection"
Doulble click the "CTAudSel" Icon and ensure your device is selected and not windows defualt.
Have a look in windows control panel/sound devices. Go to hardware and select your card.
Go to properties, then again to properties then audio devices.
Ensure that "use audio features on this device is selected"
Now do the same for all devices and see if that fixes it.
    D/L the latest DX version.
Good luck.Message Edited by xmn on 07-04-2006 02:40 PM

  • Siri sounds bad when using Bluetooth

Siri sounds bad when using Bluetooth, but the phone calls sound great.

Can a few of you help me with a test? I have a Jawbone 2 & a Jawbone Icon. Both exhibit a strange behavior with my iPhone 4. If either of these headsets are on, paired & connected AND a call is answered or initiated, things are fine.
When it all goes downhill is in this scenario:
My headset is OFF. I receive or make a call and mid-call, I decide to turn on the headset (which I keep off to save battery). The Jawbone connects and automatically switches the iPhone from PHONE to JAWBONE. This is all normal right? Okay here's the problem. The call quality has static, sounds muffled and the caller tells me I sound like I'm in a tin can. If I then switch back to the phone (through the iPhone page of Sources) and then back again, to the Jawbone, most times--quality is back to normal. Obviously this is not something we all want to be doing. Can anyone do this test with their headset .. any brand and even some of you with Icons? It would be good to know if the culprit is the Bluetooth Headset or the iPhone. Remember, it's important that you make a call with your Bluetooth headset in the OFF position and then turn it on mid-call to use it.

  • Music sounds bad on my ipod

My music sounds bad on my iPod 5th generation

    Hello joaquin,
All of your music or just select tracks?  Have you tried any of the usual recommendations such as resetting or restoring the iPod through iTunes?
I am guessing the tracks sound just fine on the iPod.  If that is the case, it might not also be a bad idea to try a different set of headphones to see if that makes a difference.
Another suggestion, although a little more time consuming, is to convert to the track to a different file format or bit rate and sync it to your iPod and see if there is any more improvement.

  • Firewire 410 and itunes and copyproted music sounds BAD

when i play copyprotected music from iTunes 6 via my firewire out M-Audio Firewire 410, (latest revisions) the audio phases in and out with digital distorsion, suddenly sometimes completley quiet, other times digitally distored and hollow, sometimes digitally distored and sounding like i'm listening thru a long tube.
The distortion can be stopped by stopping the song and playing from the stopped point. Also it seems Safari helps cause these problems somehow, surfing causes audio glitches and burps.
when i play the copyprotected music from quicktime alone, i don't have as many issues.

    Actually all music sounds bad.
usually when the waveform amplitude of the music is low, like at the beginning or end of the song is when the digital tubular distortion begins. but sometimes its just right in the middle of a song.
What's the point of having a high end system if decoding the audio stream outside the mac is so flaky or likely to change so much to kiss the behinds of the music industry executives. A new version of itunes = a new version of copyprotection and streaming which means these digital decoding boxes overnight become obsolete with every iTunes upgrade. Pointless.
Stick to your headphone jacks people.
