HP ENVY 700-000t multiple monitor setup

I have an hp envy 700-000t, and I want to setup up a second monitor. When the monitor is plgged in, my computer doesnt detect it, and it reads no signal. Is there a compatibility issue with my computer?

Test your monitor on another PC to make sure that these components work successfully. Toggling the F4 key will electrically contact the second display. Press f4 to alternate the computer screen image between 4 display states:● PC screen only: View the screen image on the computer only.● Duplicate: View the screen image simultaneously on both the computer and externaldevice.● Extend: View the screen image extended across both the computer and external device.● Second screen only: View the screen image on the external device only. Each time you press f4, the display state changes. After each toggle, you will need to go to Window 8 setup multiple monitors and see if your second monitor is discovered.

  • Multiple Monitor Setup for HPE-180t w/ NVIDIA GeForce GT 220 (only one DVI port)

I am wanting to connect mutliple montitors via DVI connection to my HPE-180t.  My graphics card is the NVIDIA GeForce GT 220 which has 3 ports (VGA, HDMI, DVI) and does support mutli monitor display.  What is the best way for me to connect multiple monitors to my desktop?  I would like for all of them to be connected via DVI.
    Thank you so much,
    Angela

old computer: HP Pavilion PU131AV / a1050y, Windows XP MCE, SP3 32bit, Nvidia GeForce 6600, Intel Pentium 4 CPU, 3.20 GHz, 2GB of RAM
    new computer: HPE-180t, Windows 7 Pro (64bit), Nvidia GeForce GT 220, Intel Core i7-930 quad-core CPU @ 2.80 GHz, 8GB of RAM

What is the end goal you are attempting to acheive?  Are you looking to clone all three monitors or each monitor to be independent of the other (extended display)?
This document covers how to configure the monitors in Windows 7.  I didn't see the GT 220 listed in the specifications, so I take it this is one purchased separately for the unit.  Most video cards require multiple monitors to be connected to a different port (to truly achieve a multiple monitor setup).  Since the card only has one DVI port, then the other ports (HDMI and VGA will need DVI adapters).  An example of an HDMI - DVI adapter can be found here.
The tricky part will be using the VGA - DVI adapter as DVI ports are typically DVI-D which makes it a pure digital signal.  VGA is analog, so the adapter will need to be special if the monitor is using a DVI-D port.  If it is a DVI-A or DVI-I port, then a standard VGA - DVI adapter will work.  If it is a DVI-D port, you will need an active VGA - DVI adapter.  If it is DVI-A/I, then a passive adapter will work.  This is an example of an Active VGA - DVI adapter.  For that adapter, a VGA cable will need to be connected to the VGA port with that end connected to the VGA side of the adapter and then being connected to the DVI port of the monitor.
Provided the video card supports 3 monitors, this would allow all monitors to have a DVI connection.  Keep in mind that the VGA port will still deliver an analog signal as opposed to the DVI and HDMI ports.  The card specifications do not really say how many monitors it supports, but it most likely does support three monitors.

  • Mountain Lion seems to have broken my multiple-monitor setup.

I have a 6-monitor setup, which has been working fine for the last 5 OSX updates... but now, three primary problerms:
    - one of the screens is half-dead. I can mouse to it and the curor appears and moves around, but the screen is otherwise black and nothing will appear on it. I can't even set a background on it.
    - my primary desktop space which is 2560x1600 keeps reverting to 1024x768 when I reboot which of course re-messes up the desktop layout.
    - in fact, all of the configuration changes with respect to displays get lost with reboot... resolution and screen locations with respect to each other... Agh.
I'm sincerely hoping many others are experiencing the same thing, so I'll know Apple is working on correcting the issue.
    .. anyone else?

Well, I'll reply to my own message in case anyone winds up here and wonders what to do.  Here's what I did... I reverted back to Lion, restored perfectly from Time Machine to where my machine was a few days ago and I'm back in business.
This is the first time ever I've had to revert a Mac OS upgrade, but the simple fact seems to be this is a bug and perhaps an update or two from now I'll try again... once someone else has confirmed multiple video cards are properly supported.
Needless to say, my machine is completely factory parts... the cards came purchased with the computer and I haven't modified anything.  None of this wrong driver, IRQ conflict, DMA channel issues and whatever else I thought I left behind when I switched from PC to Mac.
First time for everything, but perhaps Apple missed a QA cycle or two before pulling the trigger on this one.

  • KDE resetting multiple monitor setup

I'm having problems getting multiple monitors working and staying working in KDE. If I go to System Settings > Display, my HDMI output starts off at 1024x768, even though 1280x1024 is marked (Auto) (and is the correct res). If I set it to the right res, and left of the laptop display, it works, but after some time the HDMI output just switches off. Going back to Display shows it as Disabled. Even after setting it back to the correct settings, after reboot it's all forgotten and back to 1024x768.
I've worked out that the following line sets up my external monitor correctly:
    xrandr --output HDMI1 --mode 1280x1024 --left-of LVDS1
and this line sets up the internal one:
    xrandr --output LVDS1 --mode 1366x768
If I put these in .bashrc (seemed to be the only place it worked) then the monitors work on startup, but after a short amount of time everything goes fubar (either the HDMI monitor turns off, or the laptop screen goes the wrong res). If I open up another terminal (to run .bashrc again) once or twice, everything seems to settle and the monitors don't reset themselves again.
It feels like KDE's trying to do some funny business which is interfering with my xrandr efforts. I've got a blank xorg.conf.

I've done all of this but still there is no signal. Could it be because I am running a wire from my mac's mini displayport to a VGA adapter, and then to the monitor? Or could it be a driver issue? when I start windows, the only thing to show up is the "starting windows" screen. Then the monitor loses signal every time.

  • Quicktime screen record on multiple monitor setup error

Hello, I am trying to record a webinar using Quicktime 10.2 on my three monitor setup (usb video cards). The program loads fine and I can drag the record area on the main monitor that I want to record and then I get an error saying "The operation cannot be completed". I'd appreciate any assitance, I've also had a similar problem trying to record with iShowU HD. I find it difficult that in 2014 I cannot not record on a 3 screen set up.

  • VMware Fusion question - Multiple Monitors

I apologize if this is in the wrong area, but I am desperate for some help. I have also posted this same question in the VMware communities but I have not had any luck with anyone responding yet.
It seems that I am having an issue with my virtual machine (windows XP) viewing in full screen or unity across my multiple monitor setup on my Mac Pro. Every time I go to view in full screen or unity I get a VMware popup warning/error that reads:
The virtual machine "Windows XP Professional" is configured for a smaller display size than the one your Mac is currently using. VMware Fusion needs to shut down your virtual machine to enable support for your Mac's display size in Full Screen. Do you want to shut down this virtual machine now?
I have two options, one to shut down, or one to go into full screen. If I go into full screen, full screen works with the correct resolution and everything looks great except its only in the one monitor (not the multiple monitor). If I shut down and restart the virtual machine and try to go to full screen I get the same error.
The VMware tools have been installed and I did go to the view, use all displays in full screen opiton.
My current setup is a mac pro with 3 monitors using 2 NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT Video Cards.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks

I found a link to a VMWare Knowledge Base entry about specifying video ram in Fusion 1. Maybe it is still true.

  • Dual monitor setup broken in Leopard

There are numerous problems running an external Cinema Display from a MacBook Pro using Leopard. I've tried with 2 MacBook Pros (one 15", one 17") and 2 different Cinema Displays (24" and 30"). Not to mention everything was fine under Tiger. Both Leopard installations were "clean installs".
    1. Closing the lid of the MBP doesn’t remove the screen from Leopard (Or Spaces).
    2. When the MBP sleeps with a Display attached it never comes back onto the Display, only the MBP’s LCD.
    3. Periodically the MBP refuses to wake when it’s connected to the display.
    4. I can no longer use the power button on the Display to sleep/shutdown the MBP.
    5. Simply plugging the Display sometimes causes it to wake (while the MBP is closed). In Tiger, I had to have the Power Adapter connected to wake my Sleeping MBP with the lid closed (as stated in the documentation).
Wonder if all this will be fixed in 10.5.1 (hoping)?

  • In dual monitor setup firefox 9.01 menus blink in and out

Every version of firefox AFTER the 3.6 series has problems in dual monitor setups and I want to be able to keep all tabs I had open when I close firefox so when I open again they are there. In dual monitor if I use monitor 2 for firefox (which is the way I use it) the menu blink rapidly when I click on them and make very hard to navigate. What is it with the video setup in win7 I have to use an older version of winamp due to tearing in the second monitor? Have all you companies not fully learned who to implement dual monitor setups properly or is that not really a concern?

  • T410 type 2516-A11 multiple monitor (and cleaning service) question

    Hi guys,
I have the above mentioned model. I want to verify my understanding (from reading the forums) is correct regarding the multiple monitor setup.
This model is NOT capable of  running 2 external displays + 1 internal laptop display  all at the same time. I checked the BIOS and i dont see any mention of  nvidia.  Is there any way i can get 3 monitors all displaying at same time without purchasing a dock-3 ?  I am considering simply buying another laptop (about $300 for a cheap one)  instead of spending money  on the dock. After all, this laptop is getting old and i need to get ready for some kind of  unrecoverable  crash. (I do not backup stuff, for lack of time and stuff is not work related).
The second question is on cleaning this laptop. After running 15 hrs a day,  all days of the week, for past  2 and half  years, this laptop has impressed me with its stability.  But i had to buy a laptop cooler to hold the bottom of the laptop because it started getting hot and crashing on me every 2 days (because i run video intense app for much of the time).  I am planning to take it to local fry's electronics for taking it apart and getting a good internal cleanup done on this.  Is there any precautions i should mention to the fry's  technician ?  I am planning to backup important files, just in case the laptop dies after that.  Would like to hear any stories (good or bad) after a cleaning  service on  T410 model.
Thanks in advance; i am planning to get this machine rejuvinated during this christmas break.

  • HP ENVY 700-210xt CTO Desktop PC/windows 8.1: can't display 2nd monitor

    Detail information:
    -  HP ENVY 700-210XT CTO Desctop PC
    -  One VGA port and one DVI-D port (used DVI-D to DVI-D cable to connect to second monitor)
    -  video card is a buildin card on motherboard
    -  Two monitors: AOC 10X16, Acer 12X15 (with both VGA and DVI-D ports)  and both working perfectly if connected to computer thru VGA cable.
    -  When start computer, both monitors showing 'HP' and circle of stars to indicate Window is starting (so I think DVI-D connection and is fine).
    -  Then second (DVI-D) monitor shows no signal and VGA monitor continues and everything is fine.
    -  If I go to Devices/Project/Second screen and choose any of the options: Duplicate/ExtendSecond screen only, nothing shows.  After awhile, system says can't find second monitor.
    Questions:
    1) if it is OK to use two different kinds/sizes of monitors?
    2) what else I can do to make the computer to use the DVI-D monitor?
    Thanks,
    Ning

    Hi,
If you can't see the basic HP UEFI boot menu information with a DVI connection then you have a hardware issue. It's either your monitors or DVI cable or the DVI port on your PC. It's definitely not a software issue as digital drivers don't get loaded until later in the Windows boot process.
Test the monitors and the DVI cable on another PC to ensure that they work correctly.  Alternatively, try a different DVI cable and monitor on your PC.

  • Multiple chrome windows on a multiple monitor, multi-desktop setup?

    Dear all,
I'm having this huge headache because I have a dual monitor setup (imac 27" + second 24" monitor) and I have configured 6 different desktops in it (mountain lion here) where each desktop dual monitor scene has a chrome window (with several tabs each) on each monitor. I do this because i work 90% on SaaS's and as such I need this multi-desktop setup with chrome spread all over it.
Problem: Everytime i reboot the system, all those crhome windows get back to desktop 1 (on both monitors) and I have to painstakingly put each chrome window one by one back into each desktop again. Its really a PITA.
Solution: Anyone can tell me a workaround for this or if I am missing some OSX or chorme trick or tweak that will make the system "remember" where each chrome windows was in each desktop + monitor?
    Thanks in advance!

    Peggy,
We have been running 3 separate Forte environments on one server (dev,
test, prod) for over a year now. The environments have been at
different Forte release levels at various times. Darrell is right on
target with the UNIX links and separate fortedef.sh files for each
environment. The links will help reduce disk space. Follow his
instructions and you should be good to go. We have each Forte
environment point to its own database instance also. You can set the
environment variables in each fortedef.sh file to do this. If you keep
multiple versions of Forte on a windows client machine, you will have to
switch the Forte.ini file before starting Forte.
As for security and auditing, I not sure what you are looking for here.
Our application has security and auditing but that it.
Keep in mind, that each Forte environment will be competiting for system
resources on the same server. When we have 3 environments running, we
notice a performance hit. Try to use as few resources as you can. For
example, our test and production environments do not require a
repository server, since we test deployed. So do not start these
    processes.
    Good luck.

  • How can use Print and Page Setup Dialogs with multiple monitors?

It seems the designers of the printing API forgot to include multiple monitor support.
    According to the API, a way to popup a print dialog is done via this manner;
    1) PrinterJob.getPrinterJob().printDialog()
    or
    2)PrinterJob.getPrinterJob().printDialog(PrintRequestAttributeSet atts)
Option (1) brings up the native print dialog and hangs the event thread (another problem, for later i guess) and (2) brings up the Swing dialog which at least doesn't hang the event thread. And while somewhat limited is not a bad print dialog.
The problem is that there is no way to pass a GraphicsConfiguration object, so that the print dialog can know where to popup (what monitor).
So looking around, we have this newer 1.4 method
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4/docs/api/javax/print/ServiceUI.html
    public static PrintService printDialog(GraphicsConfiguration gc,
    int x,
    int y,
    PrintService[] services,
    PrintService defaultService,
    DocFlavor flavor,
    PrintRequestAttributeSet attributes) throws HeadlessException
So now this method has a way to pass a graphicsconfiguration, so it should know what monitor to create the dialog in.
But this method is such a mess to setup. When I use it, it lists the printers but doesn't select the user's default printer.
But more problematecally is that there is no PAGE SETUP dialog equivalent to this method! So I would have a print dialog that pops up in the right place, but page setup on default monitor! ARGH!!!
The code for ServiceUI has a pageDialog() method but it's commented out for "future release". What a mess.
Is there any way to solve this? To have pageDialog and printDialog on a given monitor?
