HP ENVY m6-1105dx Notebook PC BIOS Password

Greetings,
I did some looking but didn't get an exact answer for my  HP ENVY m6-1105dx  Notebook, for which I would like to unlock the BIOS.
Anyone have the password/code that will help me, in the words of that musical genius F. Zappa, "reach nirvana tonight"?
TIA

  • HP ENVY m6-1105dx Notebook PC replacement cover

    Dear Hp,
I bought my Hp envy m6 notebook last summer and I had an accident with it and the back cover has started to crack. I was wondering if someone could tell me whether I can replace it or not, as I haven't been able to find any online. I fear that the problem might be getting worse and that eventually my laptop will stop functioning because of it. Thanks in Advance

  • HP ENVY TS 15 Notebook PC BIOS won't install

Have tried several times to install new BIOS, but it fails, leaving the message "cannot open the file". I still have the original F.36 BIOS which is bad. If I even open the BIOS, I cannot boot the PC again unti I remove the secondary hard drive from the machine, wait about 10 min., then restart. I think the boot order is wrong, but cannot go into the BIOS and look because it won't boot again. This problem has probably been fixed, but I cannot install a new BIOS. I understand there is a 'default' way to install a BIOS but I need detailed step by step instructions to even try it. I'm not confident doing this without very detailed instructions.
Can HP support do this with a remote connection, without any interaction from me? Does anyone have a detailed step by step way to do this that doesn't require a technician to understand?
Edited 27 OCT 2014 - I have since learned from the company that sold me this PC about a year ago, NOT  TO INSTALL ANY BIOS UPDATES FOR THIS MACHINE. There have been instances of 'bricking' or ruining the motherboard, rendering the PC useless.
For now, if you open the BIOS and the PC wont re-boot, turn off, unplug, remove battery, remove secondary hard drive, replace cover, replace battery, plug in, WAIT 10 MIN, restart. Wait for the PC to finish loading, then repeat this process and re-install the secondary hard drive. The PC will operate normally as long as the BIOS is not opened again.

    Hello, @MarkZinn
Based on the issue you're having with the BIOS, I would suggest calling into HP Phone support to see if there is anything the can do to help.

  • Hp Envy m6-1105dx. Problems with my charger.

    Product Name: Hp Envy m6-1105dx
    Operating System installed: Windows 8
I'm going to keep this simple.
I bought this computer on February 20th, 2013, so up to this date It's been over a month. I've never bought a laptop before, and in just a little over a month...started to have these kind of complications.
Since this is the hardware section, lets start with that.
I plug in my charger, it does not work. I try a second time, and we have the same result. I have to continuously plug the charger in, and out in order to receive a charge.. I call this the "Hopefully it works” method. Problem number two, is that everytime my computer goes to sleep, the charger shows that it doesn’t register anymore....and this sets us back to problem one.
This is a new laptop, so I believe problems with the battery really shouldn't be showing me these kinds of complications. I’m very frustrated at the fact that my laptop’s battery or charger will not work.
For any other information that might help....
Yes the battery is in, Yes my charger is plugged into the wall, and yes I've reset my computer to check if this problem would still Reoccur. The only thing I didn’t do is replace my battery, or charging cable. The reason being is that i just bought this computer.
Thank you very much for reading this topic, sorry for the “Ranting” kind of approach, but I hope you can see my frustration.
Any advice, or basically a solution to my problem will be very much so appreciated.

Unfortunately it appears you got a lemon. It happens. If you have a return right at the point of sale, exercise it. Otherwise call HP and work your way through the phone tree to see about returning it.  The only other possibilty is that a BIOS update was just released on 3-15
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-116472-1&cc=us&dlc=&lc=en&o...
Of course you are going to have to catch it when it is working and the BIOS update entails a bit of risk if the computer crashes during the update. I would call Customer Service and ask them if they want you to try the BIOS update. Before they authorize a return they are going to make you go in and reset the BIOS to defaults and muck around in there a bit anyway.

  • I have an HP ENVY TS 17 Notebook PC that I'm trying to install an ssd

I recently bought an HP ENVY TS 17 Notebook PC, nice laptop. Anyway, I bought a samsung evo ssd, I bought the drive caddy for it online, but I can not get the laptop to see the drive. I pulled it apart 5 different times thinking that I messed up. But after all that I still can't get it to work. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GIGJYBG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. This is the drive caddy that I bought. I thought this was the right one, but I don't know. If anyone can help me, please respond to this post. Thanks

    Hello wily51501,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand your notebook will not recognize a newly installed solid state drive (SSD).
Are you checking in the system BIOS to determine if the drive is detected, or with the HP Recovery / Windows software? Sometimes it's as easy as enabling the drive in the BIOS. You can find information on this here, covered on step 7: Installing or Replacing a Hard Drive
Here is a great guide that walks you through upgrading to an SSD: HP SSD Upgrade Kit Installation Guide. Furthermore this Maintenance and Service Guide has some more specific information for your exact notebook. It could be that the caddy you purchased is defective if the BIOS does not recognize the drive.
Here is a document published by Seagate that talks about drives that are not detected:  The BIOS does not detect or recognize the ATA / SATA hard drive.
    Hopefully this information helps!
