Hp ENVY m6-1178sa from left is very warm

Hi all, Hope someone can shed some light on this. My hp Envy has recently started getting very warm when in use, especially when playing games. I started noticing this about 4 weeks ago. The area that gets warm is on the left hand side, at the front. Basically, where your left had rests when using the laptop, at the side vent and at the front where the card reader is. It started with it just being warm but now it actaully gets hot to the point that it's almost painful to use. Doesn't seem to be impacting on the laptop performance though. Does anyone know what sits at that part of the laptop that could be over heating? Any ideas of what can be done to sort it? The laptop is about 2 years old. Hope someone can help. Thanks Alex

I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP ENVY m6-1178sa Notebook and issues with heating up while playing games. Here is a document on overheating which has many fixes. I recommend to restore the BIOS defaults.You could restore the BIOS with this document selecting the reloading the BIOS default settings which could help with the fan allowing the Notebook to overheat. HP ENVY m6 1178sa recovery mess up

Hi,
So I have my hp ENVY m6 1178sa about four months, Its running windows 8 64-bit. So the first problem was when I was making the recovery discs it kept stopping and telling me to put in a new disc.I got the first disc out of five done.
Then I started to get the blue screen of death and finally my computer would be on the start with all the tiles and freeze and flash very fast like it was frozen. It was very weird. But I would shut it down and start it up and it would be okay for awhile.
So yesterday I decided to try the discs again they worked i was delighted, so I thought I would restore the computer. So I back up all my files I wanted on an external hard drive and I started to recovery my laptop. During the recovery it went to windows and installed windows 8. It told me that it encountered errors and It said repair when it restarted it came up saying no operating system found. I was confused. I then put in the disc and did install operating system. It got to 6% and stopped and an error came up saying destination drive is not connected.
What did I do?
Would you say that the first recovery disc was sightly damaged during the burning of the data as it kept stopping and starting and asking for more discs.
The laptop works I have a boot thing in it using ubuntu, but it is not installed as I want to have my windows 8 back Please help I need this laptop for college and I have spent a lot of money on this laptop!

we have a problem for selecting a string ...
we selecting a string from JEditorPane ..
useing JEditorPane.getselectedText();
After selecting text we adding some tags to selected text
it working fine when we are selecting from right to left .
when we are selecting text left to right it's not working .but
we geting selected text in both times(right to left, left to right) ..

I can only guess... But if it is true that you mean by 'selecting right to left' that the selection started at the right and ended on the left. Perhaps you are storing values from JEditorPane.getSelectionStart() and JEditorPane.getSelectionEnd(). If this is true, it could mean the failure you have in your code, because the number for getSelectionStart() is higher then getSelectionEnd() if you started from right and lower when you started from left. That could cause your problem.
You could fix this for example by this:
if (MyEditorPane.getSelectionEnd()<getSelectionStart())
change values.
or vice versa, hope that helps...

Horizontal RSS feed- is it possible to create an RSS feed (showing both pictures and text), that scrolls from left to right rather than top to bottom?

I am trying to create an RSS feed that will scroll from left to right rather than top to bottom as is standard in iWeb. Ideally, I would like to show both images and text. I am actually using iWeb '09. I am not opposed to writing html code if necessary.

Just recently bought an Apple Magic Mouse and noticed that it wiggles from left to right when I hold it a certain way. It does so ever so slightly so I'm afraid that it might be a defective product. I'm really careful and haven't dropped it at all.

Can anybody else replicate this issue? The top polycarbonate plate with the apple logo on top (not the aluminum part) wiggles from left to right ever so slightly when looking at it I noticed it does this. Not typical of any apple products I've ever owned.

Not quite with you, I'm afraid. Is it the mouse itself which wiggles or is it the cursor on the screen.
I really don't mean offence but the mouse ain't going to wiggle unless you have magical powers ... but the cursor may, if, for example, the batteries are not solidly seated or connected. Some are very sensitive and take getting used to.
If it is the cursor, you could try removing and cleaning all contact points and when you replace the batteries make sure they are tightly seated. Oh, and I forgot to mention; is the green light steady or does it flicker?

Beats Audio compression and volume fluctuation - HP ENVY m6-1178sa

Just wondering if there's actually been a fix for this yet, as it seems to be a common problem. Using an HP ENVY m6-1178sa and after scouring the internet high and low, none of the fixes seem to be working at all. Whether using the onboard laptop speakers, external speakers, or headphones, all loud sections in songs are dramatically reduced in volume and the low end is totally sucked out. I've had to revert to listening to music on my phone because Beats makes certain songs borderline unlistenable. If there hasn't been an official fix yet, then I urge you to make one as soon as posible, as sound quality was a major motivation for buying this laptop!

I have an HP Envy 17T I purchased in Jan. 2015 with Windows 8.1 and noticed the same issue of highly compressed audio when playing back music files no matter what app you used (Windows Media Player, iTunes, Virtual DJ, etc.). Like the rest of us, this has been driving me crazy. I can confirm that it is not a figment of your imagination - the compression is indeed caused by BeatsAudio. I find it incredible that a software app that supposedly claims a superior listening experience would overlook the ability to turn off such an annoying (and in-your-face) feature!!?? Oh well, so much for my soap box. I stumbled upon a solution that involves disabling Beats Audio and substituting another audio device driver in its place. The following steps work for Windows 8.1 on an HP Envy laptop: Go to Windows Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers section.In the list of audio device drivers, look for Realtek High Definition Audio. This is the device driver for BeatsAudio (a little bit sneaky, wouldn’t you say?).Right-click and select Disable. The downward arrow displays on this driver, indicating it is disabled. (NOTE: At this point, you won’t be able to play any music files.)Right-click and select Update Driver Software.Select Browse my computer for driver software.Select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.You should see a window that says Select the device driver you want to install for this hardware. NOTE: If you see a window that says something like This is the best driver for this device, exit the window and repeat steps 4, 5, and 6.In the Model box, highlight High Definition Audio Device (this is the substitute audio device driver) and click Next.At the Update Driver Warning window, click Yes. You should see a confirmation window with High Definition Audio Device displayed. Touchpad stopped working - HP ENVY m6-1178sa

So as the title states, the touchpad has stopped working entirely. I'm using an HP ENVY m6-1178sa running Windows 8 and it just randomly stopped working while I was on facebook. My USB mouse works absolutely fine.
I've tried restarting, uninstalling/reinstalling and updating drivers, and scoured the internet but nowhere seems to have a decent fix. I'm also 100% sure it isn't locked - the orange light is not on, and I have tried double tapping the white box just in case it was the light that was broken. The actual 'clicker' isn't working either.
Any help would be much appreciated as I really can't use a USB mouse everywhere.

This may actually fix it and it is easy to do:

Why a Power Reset works to fix some issues:
The Hard Power Reset does not install anything on your computer, it does not remove anything from your computer, and the Reset does not change or update any of the programs on your computer. Your data and files remain as they were before the reset was applied.
Why a Power Reset might Not Work:
If the issue is more than just entanglement, if the "good instructions" on the computer are not good enough -- that is, if you need an update, a new driver, or if there is a problem that cannot be "untangled", then the Reset will not work.
If there is a hardware problem the Power Reset will not work.

I need help deleting videos, tv shows, and movies downloaded from itunes. I have followed the instructions to delete from the macbook, I selected the videos I wanted to delete and right clicked to delete. Nothing happens. When I double click on the video it still starts playing. I also followed the instructions to delete the videos from the iphone by swiping from left to right with nothing happening. I opened the videos on the ipad and there is no edit selection like in the instructions on the support page. Can you please tell me how to permanently remove this content so it doesn't try to copy from each device when I want to back up the Iphone and Ipad to my macbook. Thank you.

actually better to reset your phone and reinstall the latest firmware again after that restore your back up it should be ok

Inspire 5200 5.1 sound from both R & L rear speakers coming from left rear speaker only

I have done a complete sound system check, every thing check out good. From the rear speakers I am only getting sound from left rear. When i do a speaker check, when right rear speaker lites, sound comes from left rear. when left rear speaker lites sound also comes from left rear speaker.

You may have to check with your sound card manufacturer for special setting to upmix the Stereo to the rest of the speaker.
If you are using Creative 5.1 sound card, you can refer to the link for the CMSS upmix feature.

How to change the direction of movement in atable from left to right?

As the title says i want to change the movement direction in the cells of a table in pages when i click tab key from "left to right" to "right to left", is that possible?

It seams that we aren't using the same application.
In mine, if the cell C3 is selected, pressing shift + tab select the cell B3 which is what you wanted in your original post (or I understood it wrongly).
If what you want is the ability to insert a new row above the current one or at top of a table, you can't do that this way.
Same response if you want to insert a new column to the left of the table.
To do that, the soluce is to select the top row or the leftmost column.
There is a funny bug in the menu items.
If your table has a header row, entering the menu Format > Table, we get four items:
Insert new header above
Insert new header below
if we are in the header row
or
Insert new row above
Insert new row below
Insert a column before
Insert a column after
These four menus items have shortcuts :
option up arrow
option down arrow
option left arrow
option right arrow
If the table has no header, the menu items are :
Insert new row above
Insert new row below
Insert a column before
Insert a column after
None of them display a shortcut *_but the shortcuts are active_*

My screen displays a shadow from left to right, being darker on the left and brighter on the right. Any advice about how to change this would be appreciated.

My screen from the moment it starts any program appears to be shaded from left to right. The left hand side of the display appears to be darker than the right half of the screen. Can someone please advise what I can do to alter this. Have I pressed something I shouldn,t have? Or is there a problem with my display?

Does not sound too healthy! You should take it to the Genius bar in the Apple store. May need the hardware looked at...
It's most probably a backlight issue. Take some piccys of it while it isnt working now!!

Also using IPad 2 I am able to get the ITunes to accept the user name and same password as the Mac.
However, the only way I can see the 'Home sharing; icon is in Music on the Ipad. When I tap on the Icon it asks for a password.
When I give the same password, it is rejected.

Personally I think the iOS devices are poor at reconnecting - Airplay establishes that a link is available but when the iPhone/iPad has been away from the house and rejoins the network i think AppleTV already thinks it's connected with a different IP address and fails to recognise it has joined the network again with new credentials.
Something along those lines anyway.
I find that a combination of restarting AppleTV, router and iOS device tends to fix it, but not for everyone.

Please check the name of what you subscribed to. You say "Acrobat" but that isn't $19.99/year. Unfortunately Adobe have products which do the same thing and need to be used in different ways.
