Hp envy m6-1225dx case breaks

Hello I am trying find a way to fix my laptop I figured contacting HP's support would help. I have an hp envy m6-1225dx that has various breaks on every piece of the case. The laptop was purchased in 2013 and is out of warranty. Electronically, The laptop is perfectly fine. Mechanically, the laptop is falling apart. If I had all the parts, the repair would be within my ability, but I have difficulty trusting 3rd party online vendors and I cannot find top case replacement anywhere. I would rather not buy a new laptop becasue for the most part the laptop is perfectly fine.  Is there any help you can provide?

    Recently purchased an Envy m6-1225dx and immediately installed win 7 pro like I have on many other laptops only to find NO driver support from HP? If I list the Hardware IDs does anyone know where to find the drivers?

    Hi:
    All of the W7 x64 drivers and software from this model will also work on yours.

  • After warranty: permanent fix Yoga loose screw problem before case breaks

    Yoga laptops tend to use tiny 2mm case screws and they often fall out. The screws in the rear secure the hinge and once that becomes loose the case will eventually break. Others may be interested in a permanent fix because it's mechanically impossible for these screws to stay in place: they are obviously underdimensioned both in diameter and in length.
    After I had my broken case replaced by Lenovo, at my own expense, the screw in the left corner soon worked itself out again. Here's how I fixed it, drilling all the way through the existing hole, not pretty, but it has worked well over several months and it saves from regularly having the case break. (It's $280 each time. Lenovo has officialy never seen the problem, at least in my correspondance with them. It is a customer abuse issue.)
    The materials for the fix run to about 25 cents: a #6 screw and a nut. I had to file away at the lid to make room for the nut. Also, the screw needs to be cut and filed. The screw cannot be completely countersunk. Extra protection is necessary at the underside of the case.
    Bolting the bottom case sandwich this way holds the hinge in place.

    Follow-up: as others have experienced, Lenovo does apparently not accept loose or missing screws or consequental dammage as a valid warranty claim.
    Indeed, I received the message from Lenovo: "After further diagnosis, our repair engineers found damages on your computer that is not covered by the Lenovo limited warranty."
    Yet, I had very clearly explained that the mechanical damage was the result of a missing screw.
    Thus my extended warranty claim was easily denied, because this warranty extends the original warranty!! More wasted work.
    So, I have my Yoga back, though, for almost three hundred dollars. The repair was fine. Nightmare is over. But I won't hide my feelings: I'm profoundly unhappy this treatment. Also, I'm abstaining from using the Yoga in tablet mode: it's simply not sturdy enough, the flexing of the case will lead to the same problem again.
    Luckily, as a laptop it works quite well!

  • I want to change my envy 700-239 case

    I bought an Envy 700-239 (intel core i7) a year ago, and i plan to upgrade it by taking out all the components and put it inside a brand new case, and upgrade the graphic card. I am thinking about getting a Razer H440 case and a GTX 750 ti. I am wondering if all the parts can be taken out and fitted into the H440 case without any problem. Thank you a lot!

    Hello, the problem is the front of the case. If you look at the pictures on Razors website, there doesn't seem to be anywhere on the Front Panel to allow the BlueRay Drive you now have to open so that you can put a BlueRay disk in.
    There must be a way but I don't see on the photos they show if the Front Panel opens to the side which would allow you to do what your wanting to do.
    Ask them specifically how the BlueRay drive you now have would open given that the front panel doesn't seem to show anyway for the drive tray to slide into the open postion which you need to pop in a BlueRay movie or a blank DVD etc.
    It might seem like a pain but you'll save yourself a lot of time & headaches.
    Hope this helps.
    Best to you

  • HP ENVY M6-N010DX Hinges Breaking

    My laptop's hinges are breaking. Actually, they're pretty much broken. It hasn't been thrown around carelessly or dropped. It's just been getting worse after normal everyday use. I've had it for about 8 months. The security lock is practically coming out of the side. Can my laptop be repaired or replaced?

  • 5S Leather case breaks

    I bought one of the new IPhone 5S cases in leather (Red one), and at £35 expected a perfect case.
    My first case broke around the charging socket, I took the case back to Apple store Regent Street and they gracefully replaced it.
    When I took it back, the lady who served me snapped the case even further to see what had happened and there is a plastic core around the edge which gives the leather stiffness. This core had snapped and created a lump in the leather right where my thumb sits during use.
    First of all i thought it did this becasue i took it on and off resonable frequently.
    So I have now had the second case for about 3 weeks (avoiding taking it on and off) and have noticed the same thing has happend again..... in exactly the same place. I assume this is where the plastic loop is joined together?
    I love this case so want to have one that is right, and at £35 I think I am right to expect it to last more than 3 weeks!!
    Has anyone else had this issue? Perhaps its a manufacturing problem ?

    Hey there,
    Got the same problem here.
    Blob,did you call the support hotline for replacement or did
    You visit a store?

  • Envy 17-j070ca Case separating at left hinge

    I have had this laptop for approximately a year now, and noticed a while ago that the left hinge seemed to be sitting a bit lower than the right hinge when the laptop is open.  Not too long after, the issue got worse and more obvious as the case now separates whenever the hinge is used. The case closes up again once the laptop is shut.  I have noticed that some of the plastic inside has broken and screws have come loose, as I can occasionally hear fragments being tossed around by the fan.  Some small screws and small pieces of plastic have even fallen out of the side of the laptop by turning it on its side while the casing is separated.  This makes me wish I hadn't strayed from Lenovo's laptops...
    Would HP be able to fix/replace this for me?  How long would it take?  How much would it cost, if anything?
    Thanks!

  • Help with Switch-Case Statement

    How do you get this in a switch-case statement or work with it?
              if (age < 70) {
                        JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, "People that are below the 70s are nothing special.");
              else if (age > 69 && age < 80) {
                        JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null,  "People that are in their 70s are called septuagenarian.");
              else if (age > 79 && age < 90) {
                        JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null,  "People that are in their 80s are called octogenarian.");
              else if (age > 89 && age < 100) {
                        JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null,  "People that are in their 90s are called nonagenarian.");
              else (age > 99 && age < 110) {
                        JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null,  "People that are in their 100s are called centenarian.");
                   }Thanks~

    As per Java Specification, swtich case expects an integer and boolean cannot be used as param for switch.
    In your case switch can be used like this.
    int index = age /10;
    switch(index) {
    case 1:
    case 2:
    case 3:
    case 4:
    case 5:
    case 6:
    Your First case
    break;
    case 7:
    your second case
    break;
    case 8:
    third case
    break;
    case 9:
    fourth case
    break;
    default:
    fifth case
    break;
    Take note of the break statements. Its very important. But I wont prefer in this case. Code looks awkward and is not so meaningful.....

  • HP Envy SSD and recovery nightmare

    Hello everyone,
    I do a lot of higher level IT work at my job so when my brother got the "blue screen of death" on his HP Envy I offered to help, "No problem!"
    All my attempts to recovery the operating system failed and after repeated attempts, and the discovery of a bad PC3L Ram card, I decided that his native mechanical HDD would be unreliable in the future.
    As much as the HDD technology has improved over the years, I am still hold the belief that laptops used (and moved) daily are susceptible to shock damage. And, for the record, this is the FIRST time in over 20 years that I have seen a ram module fail - the absolute first time. In case  you didnt know the HP Envy in this case requires LOW VOLTAGE ram (the L in PC3L).
    Since my brother carries his laptop everywhere I decided to upgrade him to a 500GB Samsung SSD. He purchased his laptop from Best Buy and it did not come with a recovery DVD.  So I decided to install a generic copy of W8 from another PC I had lying around and validate with his license code - nope! If you have an OEM version of W8 on your PC you MUST order the special recovery disks from HP since the Product ID must match the license code. This is a MUST! How do  you do that? Well, the ONLY way that the recovery disks are shown as a purchase option online is if you allow the HP support website to DETECT your HP laptop and the CHECK (using thier software) what updates are needed.  Then, and only then, will the recovery kit appear in the list of purchase options below the PC on their support website.  Entering the model number did not help. And, the ONLY way I was able to allow the HP support site to auto-check his laptop was to install an evalutation version of W8 (unactivated)
    You can chat with HP Support and they will send you the kit, but my chat lasted 2 hours with repeated language and cultural misunderstandings. Rashish (name changed to protect the innocent) finally caught on and sent me a recovery kit. In his defense I imagine he had dual screens with 20 chat windows open, but  who knows!?
    OK, so then I ordered the recovery "kit" and was on my way - not so fast. It turns out that the recovery disks will not work with an SSD if the SSD size is smaller than the original HDD. That's right - it will NOT work.  HP support's explanation? "It gets confused" OK, well heaven forbid I confuse the poor thing. So my next option was to restore his PC using his old mechanical HDD...
    The first attempt failed, like the 3 attempts with the new SSD,  but I did get further than with the SSD. It turns out that the COA is no longer on the bottom of the PC. There is simply a MS sticker and the words, Windows 8!
    I used RW Everything to grab his original OEM license code and product ID, but still have had no success. This is unbelievable  - I have NEVER had these issues restoring a PC.
    Last resort? Buy a retail W8 license, but that does not seem fair!
    John

  • Looking for case recommendations, Touch 4G.

    I'm looking for recommendations for a case for a Touch 4G. Both a hard case and a belt case ( not a clip on but with a belt loop ).

    I bought a speck for my ipod touch 1g when i got it, loved it so much i got a speck candyshell for my ipod touch 4g and my iphone 4S. Love the rubber on the inside. A lot of people complain that with the ipod candyshell that little piece of the case breaks off at the bottom but i have had mine for a long time and it is not even loose. As long as you don't pull on it of course. I got both of mine off amazon they are not that expensive especially when considering what you get.

  • HP m6-1225dx downgrade from Windows 8 to 7

    Hi everyone,
    I just purchased a ENVY m6-1225dx that came with Win8 and I'm trying to downgrade to Win7 but not having any success. I formatted the HDD and doing a clean install. The setup completes almost all the steps successfully but then gives me an error at the end saying "Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation". This message is different than one I was getting previously that said something along the lines of Windows could not be installed on this hardware. I called HP and the technician and manager were both no help at all. They didn't even want to answer a single question and straight away told me that I should contact Microsoft because it's not HP's problem. Can anyone please help me resolve this? It will be greatly appreciated!

    Hi,
    You need to change in BIOS, hope the following articles help:
       http://www.crn.com/slide-shows/applications-os/240155734/how-to-downgrade-from-windows-8-to-windows-...
    and the following tutorial:

    Regards.

  • Using a Switch statement for Infix to Prefix Expressions

    I am stuck on the numeric and operator portion of the switch statement...I have the problem also figured out in an if/else if statement and it works fine, but the requirements were for the following algorithm:
    while not end of expression
    switch next token of expression
    case space:
    case left parenthesis:
    skip it
    case numeric:
    push the string onto the stack of operands
    case operator:
    push the operator onto the stack of operators
    case right parenthesis:
    pop two operands from operand stack
    pop one operator from operator stack
    form a string onto operand stack
    push the string onto operand stack
    pop the final result off the operand stack
    I know that typically case/switch statement's can only be done via char and int's. As I said I am stuck and hoping to get some pointers. This is for a homework assignment but I am really hoping for a few pointers. I am using a linked stack class as that was also the requirements. Here is the code that I have:
       import java.io.*;
       import java.util.*;
       import java.lang.*;
    /*--------------------------- PUBLIC CLASS INFIXTOPREFIX --------------------------------------*/
    /*-------------------------- INFIX TO PREFIX EXPRESSIONS --------------------------------------*/
        public class infixToPrefix {
          private static LinkedStack operators = new LinkedStack();
          private static LinkedStack operands = new LinkedStack();
            // Class variable for keyboard input
          private static BufferedReader stdin = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(System.in));
             // Repeatedly reads in infix expressions and evaluates them
           public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException {
          // variables
             String expression, response = "y";
          // obtain input of infix expression from user
             while (response.charAt(0) == 'y') {
                System.out.println("Enter a parenthesized infix expression.");          // prompt the user
                System.out.println("Example: ( ( 13 + 2 ) * ( 10 + ( 8 / 3 ) ) )");
                System.out.print("Or as: ((13+2)*(10+(8/3))):  ");
                expression = stdin.readLine();     // read input from the user
             // output prefix expression and ask user if they would like to continue
                System.out.println("The Prefix expression is: " + prefix(expression));     // output expression
                System.out.println("Evaluate another? y or n: ");          // check with user for anymore expressions
                response = stdin.readLine();     // read input from user
                if (response.charAt(0) == 'n') {          // is user chooses n, output the statement
                   System.out.println("Thank you and have a great day!");

  • I have a macbook pro 13" 2011, When my computer boots I get code on my boot up screen and then my computer shuts off and then restarts. Its an endless loop, as my computer tries to boot up.

    I have a Macbook Pro 13", that was purchased in 2010-2011. So randomly yesterday, when I boot up my computer I got to the boot screen, then code popped up on my screen. ** I have attached an image of the code below.** But after the code pops up, my computer shuts down, and tries to boot up again. This is an endless loop and doesn't get passed the boot screen. The code shows up everytime.
    I personally believe this might be a software issue and not a hardware. Please feel free to shoot out any ideas or a translation of what the code is referring to.
    THINGS I HAVE ALREADY DONE:
    - Reset the PRAM by holding CMD+Option+P+R
    - Gone into Safemode and tired to verify the Harddrive.
    - Please don't comment saying, "take out the battery." , "hold the power button for.." , None of that sh#* works.
    Below is three different links for the same image. (just in case, **** breaks).

    What happens if you boot holding the command S keys down?
    If it stays running in single user mode
    try the command
    fsck -fy
    You could try holding the option key on bootup, to see if presents you with a startup disk however
    It looks as if you need to reistall the OS.

  • How to increase your battery health - anyone with similar experiences?

    this is my very own self made instruction of "how to increase your battery health"
    it is the procedure how i have done it serverall times on my powerbook g4 12".
    my stats: 374 cycles, health 86% (3790 of 4400mAh)
    age of my mac: 57month (battery bit newer)
    **if you to try this: it is on your own risk!**
    **this may not be suitable for mac newbies**
    **be sure to read this twice before you do it once!**
    you will need:
    -a pocket lamp or comparable light (to see anything on your sreen when it is dark --> light from the back through apple logo)
    -coconutbattery (coconut-flavour.com/coconutbattery) or comparable programm to track your battery information in realtime
    -activity monitor
    -cool enviroment (to ensure your fans don't have to work that much)
    -some time and patience
    the intructions:
    step1: load your mac until the orange light turns green
    step2: disconnect the power adapter
    step3: use your mac until 15-25% battery life (track this information in your menu bar)
    step4: slow down your activities. the order of the following actions depend on your usage of your mac:
    __close programms that use lots of cpu/gpu to ensure the fans slow down to 0rpm (!!)
    __turn off everything that needs battery power: airport / bluetooth / speakers / etc.
    __eject dvd or cd
    __close all programms with important data
    __eject idisk / .dmg files in your finder (this is not only a matter of data security)
    __dissonnected from peripherals such as ethernet / internet / mouse / keyboard
    __use lower brightness level
    __open activity monitor to ensure that your hard drive activity is very low, may be you need to close more active programms, close activity monitor when hard drive activity is very low
    __open system preferences >> energy saver preferences >> choose longest battery life
    when your are ready with those actions go on and ensure you are able to connect to power adapter with your mac quickly (be able to charge - don't do it yet!)
    step5: be patient. now it should take some time until your battery level goes down to 3-5%
    now there should be no programm running.
    do not open any programm now!
    do not have a look at your dashboard!
    now your mac should be really quiet:
    -no fans (0rpm!)
    -nearly no hard drive activity!!
    -->> if this not the case break go on with step 11&12, try again in a week or two
    -->> if you are ready go on with step6
    step6: open coconutbattery und use the lowest brightness level
    play with your trackpad to ensure your screensaver won't start. waste time until you are at 1-2% battery life.
    step7: take your lamp and spot through the transperent apple logo, position your coconut battery window somehow that you can see the current battery charge und the maxium battery charge in the spot of your lamp through the apple logo.
    step8: go from the lowest brightness level to the level under the lowest brightness level (a dark screen)
    step9: watch your current battery charge carefully und keep on playing with your trackpad to ensure your screensaver won't start.
    step10: there is kind of battery buffer made of approximately 1% (once when my "current battery charge" was 3624mAh and this kind of buffer was at 36mAh)
    to empty this kind of battery buffer takes much longer as you might expect!
    when your current battery charge turns under this kind of battery buffer, your maximum battery charge should change. hopefully it is higher or stays the same. when it is lower now: i'm sorry - i have warned you. may be you have to go through this 'how to' more carefully!?
    step11: plug in your power adapter before the battery is cero!
    step12: load until the orange light turns green
    step13: if it was helpful do not repeat it more than once a week, better once a month

    anyone with similar experiences about increasing battery health!?
    (yes, i'm sorry for my poor english, i've tried my best)

    Me too! My battery lasts for 10 minutes. It is awful and I am on my 4th power adapter since they keep breaking too.
    From coconut battery: Maximum battery charge 310mah, original 4400, age of mac 45 months, 140 cycles.
    From system profile:
    Battery Installed: Yes
    First low level warning: No
    Full Charge Capacity (mAh): 310
    Remaining Capacity (mAh): 213
    Amperage (mA): -1205
    Voltage (mV): 11557
    Cycle Count: 140
    I went to an apple authorized retailer and they said nothing I can do if it is out of warranty.. is this true?
