HP Envy m6-n010dx is garbage.

Where do I begin with this hunk of garbage. First of all that I spent $600 on a computer that was supposed to be a decent all around computer and it makes my phone look good.<br><br>Then there's the touch pad that hasn't worked right between 2 different machines and I used an external mouse because I didn't want to keep coming back to replace it. I've done every trouble shoot, download, uninstall and reinstall there are still problems. The cursor will jump around on the screen and act erratic using the touch pad.<br><br>Then there's how slow this is. This computer is supposed to be fast and powerful. I've barely had this computer for a couple months and it doesn't run nearly as fast as it could. I've kept minimal programs on it except for internet browsers and security programs. Everything beyond the essentials is stored externally. I know it runs slow because my fiancé has the model previous to mine and it works fine.<br><br>Then just today the wireless card went out. I was doing updates and after all the updates the computer couldn't connect to wifi saying that there was a problem with the wireless card. It had been running slow for a few days and still does.<br><br>And there is also that this thing overheats for no reason. But that's typical HP. I bought a cooling pad the same day I bought this computer and use it every time I power this on and I still have issues.<br><br>I'm furious that I spend $600 on a laptop that I worked my butt off to buy to replace the last HP laptop that junked out on me and here I am with another paperweight that not only junked out for no reason but did so probably within days of being able to return it to the store I bought it from.<br><br>I can personally assure that HP products will not enter my home and I will boycott HP products. I could have bought any other brand of computer and had the machine last me much longer than a couple months. I would not recommend HP to anyone and I would not buy another HP product again. Thank you HP for manufacturing $600 piles of garbage. I love that in the same amount of time it took me to make the money to buy this computer is the time it took for this computer to be ruined. I work a minimum wage job part time and go to school. I can't afford to be buying computers every 4 months when I have to buy books that often.

Hi,
No decent laptop on this earth you can buy for $600<br>For a reasonale laptop from any brand, you need to pocket out at least TWICE that amount.<br>I always say, for work and play, don't buy any laptop under $900 on the market today.

  • HP ENVY M6-N010DX Hinges Breaking

My laptop's hinges are breaking. Actually, they're pretty much broken. It hasn't been thrown around carelessly or dropped. It's just been getting worse after normal everyday use. I've had it for about 8 months. The security lock is practically coming out of the side. Can my laptop be repaired or replaced?

  • What happened to all the drivers (HP Envy m6-n010dx)?

    Hi there.
I recently reinstalled Windows 8.1 and wanted to get a few of the drivers off the HP website that I typically can't find anywhere else. I noticed that the HP support driver website no longer has any drivers for my notebook?
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4158&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=6953...
There used to be a ton of drivers, including CoolSense, 3D DriveGuard and the download for the battery calibration utility.
Was this intentionally done or is HP just having problems with their website currently ?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hi:
For your 13-A012DX , these drivers should work...
SM Bus Controller:  Install this driver first and reboot.
    https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=20775&lang=eng&ProdId=816
PCI Device:   See if the card reader driver from this model works on yours.
    http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=6943827&swItemId=ob_133237_1&swEnvOid=415...
One of the unknowns is probably the wireless button that needs a driver.
    http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=6943827&swItemId=ob_124774_1&swEnvOid=415...
The other one may be this...
    http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=6943827&swItemId=ob_132986_1&swEnvOid=415...
If the drivers I posted didn't install the unknown devices, I will need the hardware ID's from them.
You can find the hardware ID for a device as follows...
Go to the device manager and click on the unknown device.
Then click on the Details tab at the top of the unknown device window.
Now you see a Property drop down list and it is defaulted to Device Description.
Drop down on that list and select the third item (Hardward ID's).
Post the top string of characters you see in the window.

When pushing the power button the fans starts up for a second then nothing. If you hold the power button down fans race and then shut off when pressure is lifted off button. Hard drive OK was able to copy data to a laptop using an Icydock. Unplugged power from all components and removed and reseated memory. Still no joy.

  • Will the m6-n010dx support DDR3L-1866 modules?

Hi. So I'm trying to squeeze as much power out of this laptop as I can, and would like to upgrade the memory from DDR3L-1600 modules to 1866. I'm aware that the A10-5750M APU supports modules up to 1866 (officialy stated on AMD's website), but through research have found that users of similar laptops of other makes but with the same APU have got 1866 modules to work, but some have not. So basically, will my Envy m6-n010dx support the 1866 modules?  I'd rather have a for sure answer before I buy some new RAM and have to return it if it doesn't work.

    Hi there ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome! This is a great site to get answers and ask questions. I read your post on the HP Forums and I found a document for your HP Envy m6-n010dx Notebook PC.  The document I found for your review is the PC Maintenance and Service Guide. In this Manual you will see the following on page 1;  Memory Two customer-accessible/upgradable memory module slots Support for DDR3L (1600-MHz) at 1.35V dual channel Support for 16834-MB of system RAM in the following configurations:  ● 16834-MB (8192-MB×2) ● 12288-MB (8192-MB+4096-MB) ● 8192-MB (8192-MB×1, 4096-MB×2) ● 6144-MB (4096-MB+2048-MB) These are the modules that are supported.  Have a great day!

  • HP ENVY Touchsmart m6-n010dx RAM and SSD/WiFi card help!!

My HP laptop is about 8 months old and it gets the job done but like any windows computer it slows down over time. The CPU is great, but the RAM is eh and slow. I want to upgrade the ram but everywhere I look it says the RAM is NONexpandable, But on here an employee wrote to someone with the same model laptop that it will support 16GB. Can I get confirmation? My system is the 64 bit.
The RAM they say to use is PC3-1600, is this the only speed or is there something faster?
I also want to replace my factory HDD with a Samsung 850 PRO SSD 512GB (will be loaded with Linux Mint 64bit on live USB)

  • Garbage in HP splash screen on boot at ultrawide resolution

The system is HP Envy 700-215xt, ROM Family 2AF7, latest BIOS 80.16 Rev. A installed, also latest Intel video driver (though intel video driver has no part in the problem). The graphics is integrated Intel HD4600 in i7-4770 CPU, video out through DVI port on the mainboard.
The problem appears when connected to an ultrawide display with UW-UXGA resolution 2560x1080, model is LG 29MA73V.
On boot-up (from cold or a reboot all the same), when the HP logo is shown, the bottom part of the screen is filled with garbage, various color dots. The resolution at this point is 2560x1080 and is detected correctly, checked by monitor info, and also as the HP logo is round and not strethed as it would be at 1920x1080 resolution.
The number of colored lines appears to be 270, which coincides with (2560*1080-1920*1080)/2560. My understanding of the cause of this is that when drawing this splash screen BIOS fills with black only the area of 1920*1080=2073600 pixels, but since the resolution is detected correctly, to the screen goes 2560*1080=2764800 pixels, hence (2764800-2073600)/2560=270 lines of garbage.
I think this needs a BIOS fix, which would be quite easy to do.

  • Beats Audio sound fluctuation Envy 15t

This is truly frustrating.  I've been through several topics in these forums as well as searching for an answer to this but to no avail.
When I plug up external speakers through my heaphone jack on my HP Envy 15 computer, the sound fluctuates when doing anything--watching videos, playing video games, and especially listening to music. Vocals become muffled and bass drowns out other sounds...it sounds like pure garbage.  It feels like it's only bearable when listening to the laptop speakers themselves.  The speakers on this laptop has a subwoofer and although they sound pretty decent, they aren't sufficient enough to use for my purposes.  I want real quality sound for my media, and that's why I use my external sound system.
I've tried adjusting the EQ, updating the Realtek drivers, and rolling back to Microsoft's generic audio drivers.  Rolling back seemed to help adjust the sound to normal levels with my external sound system but essentially killed the laptop speakers (which I've read that only the Beats Audio Realtek Audio drivers can truly control all the speakers). The generic drivers are pretty old--2 years old to be exact.   I still need the laptop speakers to function as intended without having to choose between them and my external sound system.  I shouldn't have to either.
Seems like this has been a problem for years with HP and Beats Audio and there's still no solution.  I bought this laptop over a month ago and if I'd known about this problem, I would have definitely bought something else besides HP.  I love everything about this laptop BUT the sound.  I can't enjoy my media with external speakers plugged due to this issue.  Any help resolving this would be greatly appreciated.

    Good Morning @lbrou87 ,
Thank you for your reply.  I know how disappointing this issue is.
The next thing to try would is a recovery back to factory.

  • Envy 15 freezes when idle

    Hi,
I've bought brand new HP Envy 15 about 4 months ago. I observed sporadic hangs during this time, but it happened not too often, so I did not pay attention to that. But recently situation changed dramatically.
If laptop was powered off more then 1 hour, it completely hangs on boot, and it takes about 4-5 hard reboots to make it work. Moreover, if I leave it idle with no applications running, it hangs with OS booted. Even HP recovery tools that supposed to restore laptop to factory settings hang.
First I checked for driver/bios updates, nothing helped. Then I thought it is a sort of hard disk/memory problem, but *all* built-in tests provided with laptop (full hard disk surface scan, memory test, etc.) pass. I also tried to install Ubuntu on this laptop, but behavior is the same.
I also noticed that if I create a simple "while(true)" program (that will for sure load one CPU core) and keep it running, laptop works for weeks just fine, but once that program is stopped, laptop hangs in seconds. So I assume this is a kind of power-saving issue with one of hardware components. Is it a known issue?
Laptop is Envy 15 (product number A9P60UA), tested on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit

I am also having similar freezing issues. I have an iMac G5 2.0ghz machine.
My problem is that the system completely freezes up, so I have to turn off the computer using the power button.
Upon restart, the computer will just sit at the grey screen with the Apple logo and hang. The fans cycle at full tilt, but nothing.
I have now performed an erase and install 3 times, and I'm very upset with this upgrade. I have wasted the last two weekends on this garbage.
Apple phone support suggested it might be a USB peripheral that I had attached, so I've tried unhooking everything.
I have no weird apps installed, and only use the computer lightly for mostly internet stuff... Mail and Safari, and a bit of iPhoto and iTunes.
I am convinced my problems are not unique, and this should have been picked up in beta testing!
