HP envy m6-n113dx trackpad malfunctioning

I have a brand new m6-n113dx that has a useless trackpad.  It constantly jerks around randomly, speeds up/slows down, twitches and otherwise has a mind of its own.
So far, all tech support has failed to permanently fix the issue.  This is what has been done so far by HP tech support and myself...
1) All track pad drivers have been uninstalled and reinstalled.
2) Bios has been updated
3) All updates (windows and HP related) have been installed
4) Reverting back to the farthest backup.
5) And of course, I have rebooted.
Nothing works for more than a few minutes and the track pad only seems to get worse.  This is clearly a hardware issue and I can not afford to have my laptop gone for weeks (I need it for work and coursework).
HELP!

Mrstenter,
I have already followed that guide on my own, and with your tech support agents, having to agonizingly watch them do so. These solutions did nothing to solve thebissue.
I solved this issue on my own by returning this product to the store I bought it at and bought a non-HP laptop. The person who processed my return told me that it was a known issue and which is why I was able to return it so far outside the standard return policy.
This experience has completely ruined my once positive image of HP and I, nor my family, will ever buy another one of HP's product.

  • HP Envy m6 Keyboard & TrackPad multitasking issues

I'm running on an HP Envy m6 Laptop, with 64 Bit Windows 8 Standard edition, straight out of Best Buy.
I've had this computer for nearly a year now. I honestly love everything about it, from the backlit keyboard to the i5 processor. But there's one thing I always have to work around that I can no longer stand about the thing.
As I am a slight gamer, sometimes i enjoy playing NFS, Minecraft, Assassin's Creed, and whatnot on my PC, I always have to connect a wireless mouse to my laptop, because if I press a key on the keyboard and try to make a gesture on the trackpad, one of the two actions won't work. e.g. if i press W (to go forward) and move my finger to the left (to look to the left in a game), it will only perform the walking forward motion, because it's not accepting both signals for some odd reason. I'd appreciate if an expert could assist me, I've looked through the Synaptics properties, mouse settings, etc. etc., and have had no success in fixing this issue.

I understand that when you first start your notebook only half of the keyboard responds, but after 10-15 minutes you gain full functionality.
You have updated the bios, removed sticky keys and changed repeat rate.

  • Ever since I installed the Safari 5.1.7 update my trackpad malfunctions.

Ever since I installed the Safari 5.1.7 update, my trackpad does not functing well. I know its not a faulty trackpad because it also malfunctions when I install a different mouse. The malfunction happens when I launch the Safari application. How do I fix this? Is there a way to undo a software update?

Try rebooting into Safe Mode, this will clear some caches. I'm thinking one or more may have become corrupt. Have you done any basic troubleshooting such as removing he MTP's batteries and restarting it or restarting the computer or anything else?
Also PLEASE  use the Profile Update , otherwise we cannot tell anything about your system which makes it extremely difficult to troubleshoot.

  • Magic Mouse & Trackpad Malfunctioning

My Magic Mouse and Trackpad are both malfunctioning ... They grab things (select and hold items) as they move across the screen and you can't get them to drop or release the items ... I can't tell you how many emails that disappear as the cursor moves down the page (the cursor selects them and deletes them) ... I've had to quit using my trackpad several months ago because of this problem, and go back to the Magic Mouse ... But now the magic mouse is as bad as the trackpad ever was ... I had to switch back to the trackpad just to write this question ... they both seem to be way too sensitive to the touch ... But the grabbing (selecting) items on the screen is getting worse ... Just writing this question, the text was selected several times as I type an disappears (I have to control Z and restore the screen). Has anyone else had this problem?
I am using the latest OSX software on an iMac (27") ...
    HELP!

    Three things.
1 and 2 iMac SMC and PRAM reset
    3. You say you're using the latest OS X software but your profile indicates you are on Snow Leopard 10.6.2 so your claim according to what you posted is incorrect. If you have updated your Software please use Profile Update!

  • HP Envy M6-n1101 trackpad is not working

The trackpad is incredibly glitchy and it is very fustrating to try and use it. It makes using the laptop almost impossible. Is there a way to fix this? This is absolutly unacceptable.

    Hi there @edgarundead
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you are having trouble with the touchpad on your notebook. I am happy to assist. Firstly, please post the full product number for your notebook. See the following, if you need help in finding that. The number you posted seems to point to a desktop, so I want to verify it.
How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
When I have that, I can find the correct drivers and such.
For now, take a look at this page and see if anything works for you.
Using and Troubleshooting the TouchPad or ClickPad (Windows 8)
Also if the problems with the touchpad began recently, then I would also suggest trying a system restore to a point before the problem began.

  • HP envy 14 dead trackpad?

Hey guys, This is really frustrating for me considering the fact that I just recieved my HP envy 14 on the 10th (This is my third day owning the laptop after two weeks of waiting)
Anyway, I was looking at some bios stats and after finishing up I logged on to see that the laptop touchpad was completely unresponsive. I scurried around the net looking for an explanation and a fix but no dice.. Uh, I really want to avoid being forced to ship this thing back.. (It really is a huge hassle)
Some steps I took to try to fix the problem include:
Using the recovery manager to re-install synaptics drivers
    Downloading the drivers from HP
Doing a restore to an earlier date ( Will try again in a few minutes to an earlier period)
if anyone can please give me a good response, I would be eternally grateful.. <3 Thanks everyone.

Ok guys, I spoke to a customer rep and in the process of attaining my serial number, I inadvertently solved this issue by removing the battery pack.
So I suppose that a possible solution would be to remove the battery and reboot the laptop. Good luck everyone (:

  • Trackpad malfunctioning- cursor intermittently becomes "difficult" to move

Recently my Macbook pro's track pad has not been working correctly. I'm not sure if you've ever experienced an issue when your hands are greasy/sticky/have water on them and your mouse doesn't move smoothly, and sometimes doesnt even move at all? It's very similar to that except it happens on a regular basis... I'll just be using my computer normally and randomly the mouse will completely stop moving, and then after a movements of different angles/pressures, it will move a little bit, and then stop again, and so on. When I've had this problem in the past, usually i just need to take a cloth of some sort and wipe across the track pad to clear it of anything, but I have tried this multiple times. I've tried wiping it with a napkin, also putting some screen cleaner to clean it off, and nothing seems to fix it. I can't even tell if it's a hardware issue or a software issue, but I'm leaning towards hardware as nothing else seems to be wrong with the functioning of the computer.
NOTE: the clicking aspect of the trackpad is completely functional. (although sometimes when the trackpad issue is present, the tap-to-click doesn't work)
Thanks for any help with this issue!

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks guys

  • Trackpad malfunctioning after Yosemite (Tried the recommended fix)

So, I've had my computer for about 2 years now and have never had a problem with it. I purchased the wireless trackpad with the computer so have been using the devices together since the beginning. After installing the latest OS X, the trackpad began having a mind of it own - randomly clicking on folders on the other side of my screen, left clicking without pressing down on it, highlighting things randomly, etc.. no control. I've tried the disconnect/reconnect bluetooth fix, changing the batteries, and everything else. Anyone have any other suggestions?

We have the exact same problem. Very frustrating. Have not found a solution yet.

  • Trackpad Malfunctions

My trackpad recently stopped working, I will click the trackpad and it will make a sound as if its working, but nothing will happen on the screen, it wont work. I talked to an apple representative on the phone and he said the only solution was to take the notebook into apple. If i were to take in the Macbook pro, would they look through my hardrive or would they simply just replace the outer hardware. I do have a few "personal" things on my laptop that i would not like to be seen. Not to mention a few keygens

Advertising your illegal software-piracy activities here probably isn't the smartest idea you've had today — at least I hope it isn't. But if you're suddenly feeling shy now and you want to keep the secrets you've just broadcast to the world hidden from a repair technician, delete or encrypt your embarrassing material before taking the machine in for service. The chances that the technician would have any time to snoop through all your junk are probably nil anyway, but if you're newly concerned about security now, that's the smart thing to do.

  • Trackpad malfunctioning :((

Hi, the trackpad of my Macbook pro ( retina display) doesn't function properly. The employe at the Apple center nearby said that the trackpad cannot be replaced by itself, supposedly the battery and keyboard are connected to it or something. I don't really believe that, does anyone know more about it??
    Please help!

I am having the same problem and it is due to a problem with one of the cables connecting the trackpad. An Apple repair centre told me it is the topcase in which a cable is a bit too long. This means by assembling the machine the cable can get broken because it does not fit in correctly. Sometime you can temporarily overcome this by placing something between the battery and the cable but this will eventually not solve the problem because the cable gets worse and worse. Still Apple say they cannot solve the problem because there's hardly any record of this issue. I am curious how many people do have the same matter and have they filed a report at Apple's. In my opinion is any production failure a case....
