HP ENVY'S TIGHT HINGES CAUSE BEVEL ON LID TO BREAK

WHY DONT THEY RECALL THE 1000'S OF ENVYS THAT HAVE FAULTY HINGES THAT CAUSE THAT BEZEL TO BREAK. I'VE TALKED TO SEVERAL REPAIR SHOPS AND IT'S A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. MINE BROKE WITHIN SIX MI\ONTHS OF PURCHASE, HP FIXED IT AND IT BROKE AGAIN AFTER ABOUT FOUR OR FIVE MONTHS. HP OFFERED TO FIX IT A SECOND TIME FOR A COUPLE HUNDRED OF DOLLARS. WHY WOULD I PAY THEM TO TRY TO FIX SOMETHING THEY HAVE FAILED AT TWICE ALREADY? YOU WOULD THINK THAT WHEN YOU SPEND $800 FOR A LAP TOP IT WOULD BE USEFUL FORE AT LEAST A YEAR

  • HP Envy left side hinge / case separation

    The case on my daughters HP Envy 17 is separating at the left side hinge. Recently, she noticed that each time she opens or closes the laptop, the stress from the hinge causes the case to separate and there is a popping sound.
    (We can hear a small piece of metal or plastic shifting in the case if I tip it to one side or the other) The laptop has always been carefully handled and it almost never leaves her desktop.
    I thought that perhaps the hinge was defective on this particular unit until I found the volume of complaints that are posted here and on locations on the internet.
    I would guess that it is out of warrantee so I don't actually "expect" HP to do anything.   However, given the number of complaints, it would be exceptionally wonderful if HP provide a solution for us.   Up until this point, this has been a good laptop that has met our expectations.  However, if we have to pay to send it in and get it repaired, we will probably choose to replace it with a laptop from another vendor.

  • Envy 15t Quad hinge screw

    Took my HP Envy 15t Quad TouchSmart laptop to a repair facility to have them repair the problem with the left hinge and they said it was a stripped screw and they couldn't fix, however they said this was a common problem with these laptops.   I've had this laptop for almost two years but the problem began probably a year ago with a slight noise when I closed the lid.  Got gradually worse and now it is a big problem.  What fix can HP offer me?

  • HP Envy m6 Broken Hinge/Split Screen

    Hi!
    So I purchased this HP Envy m6 from Future Shop in Canada. 2 years later, it seems that the plastic covering left hinge (if the laptop were positioned as if you were using it) has broken off, and as a result the screen near the hinge has actually split open so that you can see the wires inside the screen. Attempting to close the lid will result in the split cracking open more, and to close it fully you need to push down on the screen to close the crack.
    I am afraid to use my laptop further out of the fear that the crack will enlarge. Enclosed is an image of the issue. The screen itself works fine and so does the laptop.
    What should I do now? Thanks.

  • Envy lap top hinge is broken

    The hinges are sticking and has separated from its support within the computer. It is pushing away the back of the computer. A total mess. I have not dropped or damaged the computer in anyway. This computer is less than 12 months old. I'm not impressed with this.

  • My HP envy ultrabook left hinge broke and now my screen wont light up

    So I have had this computer for a little over a year and a half and about 2 months ago my left hinge broke. I was out of the country studying abroad so there wasn't much I could do about it. After I got home I didnt have the time nor the money to fix it so I was just carefully opening and closing it. Well today when I opened it, the screen wouldn't light up. I really need to get it fixed fast because I am a full time college student and my classes depend on having a computer. What can I do? Oh I should say, it is not under the warranty anymore.Help please?

    Hi HP + all, I am currently in a similar situation. The bottom left part of the frame (very close to the left hinge) is detached from the screen, making it difficult to open and close the laptop. I have had this problem at least two (most three) times in the past year and each time have sent it to HP for repair while having the one-year waranty. It appears to be an issue of faulty glue, but if left untreated, the opening and closing gets more difficult (even while I hold the frame and screen together while performing such actions) and the left hinge will start creaking. My warranty is expired and the additional repair period that HP gives after a repair (30 days? 90 days? I forgot) is over. My last repair was in late 2013 or early 2014. I do not carry my latop by the frame at all, and I treat the Ultrabook with care (gently placing on table when using after first frame separation). I no longer close it at all and only use it on my home desk. It's very frustrating to repeatedly have the same issue, very frustrating that I can't take it to public places without risking something, and it also makes me unhappy since each cycle of sending the laptop over and waiting for it to come back takes away a week or more of work. Can someone please address this? I am nearing my wit's end with this repeated issue. Thanks.

  • Envy Sleekbook Broken Hinges

    Hello, I seem to have the same issues as a lot of sleekbook users.  I now have a split between the screen and the cover near the left hinge that happened when I went to close the computer. I have never dropped the computer or mishandled it in the 2 years that I have had the product. Is this issue a design issue? Has anyone had success with HP resolving this issue for them?  Thank you!

  • HP ENVY M6-N010DX Hinges Breaking

    My laptop's hinges are breaking. Actually, they're pretty much broken. It hasn't been thrown around carelessly or dropped. It's just been getting worse after normal everyday use. I've had it for about 8 months. The security lock is practically coming out of the side. Can my laptop be repaired or replaced?

  • Hp envy m6-1125dx hinges falling apart

    I bought this m6-1125dx about two years ago and the hinges started falling apart a few weeks ago. First the right hinge and now the left hinge. It broke the plastic around the screen and now it's just being held by those wires. I was okay with it but it seems like the added stress has broken half the screen of the laptop. I take extremely good care of my stuff and it's unacceptable that a laptop would just start falling apart after two years. Apparently this is a very common problem and HP hasn't even done a recall.
    HP can you fix this?

This also happened with right side hinge couple months ago while lap-top was under warranty and HP fix that but now i have same problem with left hinge. This is obviously design flaw because hinge is just glued to the lid. In les than 18 months of light use, hinges unglued two times just from opening and closing the lid. If u check online u can find hundreds of complains about this design flaw.Where and how i can file complain about this? HP need to recall all this lap-tops !!!

  • What's causing this TableView scrolling to break?

    Edit: I've filed a bug report for this problem.  It turns out I was accidentally running this example against b118, not b120.  This bug was fixed sometime between b118 and b120 and everything works as expected for me using b120.

    I'm using a FilteredList, but I also have problems with a single, unfiltered, ObservableList.  Run the above example, don't touch the table, and use the text field to filter the table items.  Try to get the table down to ~50 items.  I think the filter "wil" (WIL) works quite well.
    Once there are only ~50 items in the list, attempt to scroll down.  The size of the scroll bar (handle) is incorrect.  Here is a screenshot that shows what I mean.  The label at the bottom shows a count of items in the filtered list.  Notice how the table is scrolled to the last item, but the scrollbar still looks like there are ~2000 items in the list?
    Also note, if you scroll the first item in the table out of view before starting it seems to work correctly.  Does anyone know what's going wrong here?

    Well, unfortunately it has to be a Linked List (for reason unknown :/).
    Anyway, this is the code as of now. However, instead of arranging the numbers in the correct order, it orders them like this: [13, 5, 5, 5, 5, 5, 5, 5, 18, 7, 4, 6, 12]. And this is completely wrong...
    Here's the code:
    import java.util.LinkedList;
    class InsertionSort {
         // Main method
         public static void main(String[] args) {
              // Create our fancy linked list
              LinkedList<Integer> myList = new LinkedList<Integer>();
              // Let's add some arbitrary numbers to it
              myList.add(13);
              myList.add(5);
              myList.add(18);
              myList.add(7);
              myList.add(4);
              myList.add(6);
              myList.add(12);
              System.out.println("The unsorted list: " + myList);
              // Let's get down to business...
              int size = myList.size();
              int position;
              int target;
              if (myList != null) {
                   for (position = 1; position < size; position++) {
                        target = position;
                        while ((myList.get(position)) >= (myList.get(target))) {
                             target++;
                        myList.add(target, myList.get(position));
              System.out.println("The sorted list: " + myList);
    }

    I dropped my 4th generation iPod Touch and the screen cracked where it's not protected- at the head phone jack. the cracks aren't huge, but right around the home button. My home button is starting to stop working. I know I can send it in and Apple will tell me how much it costs to fix, but how do I go about doing that?

    Apple will exchange, as a out-ot -warranty repair,  your iPod for a refurbished one for $99, $149 or $199 depending upon the capacity. For how see:
