The hinge is broken on the right side of my laptop -- the entire black undersection is loose causing the disc drive drawer ro be askew......please help, where do I get this fixed and is it covered under warranty??

    Dear Support Team  / Forum Users, I am writing to seek for advice on the famous 'broken hinges' issue, this time with my 2 years-old HP Envy 6 1210sw laptop.  Both of the screen hinges are broken now (for the third time), which makes it impossible to use the laptop comfortably of course. This particular machine has already been serviced twice due to the same issue - I have always got a new screen lid replaced. However, as this is a design fault, the hinges would be broken again after 4-6 months of usage. The warranty on the machine has ended in April 2015, however the warranty on the screen lid / hinges must have been extended, as they have been replaced. It makes no sense though to replace them over and over again with a new screen lid, as they will brake anyway. HP, please advise what could be done in this matter - do you replace the badly designed machines with the new ones? Thank you for your support.

  • HP ENVY-15 J110TX RIGHT HINGE BROKEN

    I purchased my laptop a year ago and its right hinge is broken and a gap is left between upper nd lower part after closing the lid. My laptop is not under guarentee . Please help how to replace the hinge!

  • Demo program touch smart laptop

    hi i've noticed that in the demo for the touch laptop/tablet there was a program/operating system that is not windows. now i was curious if that program came with the laptop, had to be downloaded, was compatible with windows, has to be bought, or was it just a thing for the demo.

  • HP Envy m6-1125dx Laptop Hinge Issue

    I have the same issue with my m6-1125dx as everyone else with the hinges. It seems to be very common and I don't know why this problem hasn't been resolved.  This issue is starting to cause the "lip" on my screen to detach. Can you please give a resolution?

    I grasp that you refreshed your computer and it erased your power on password.  Do you mean the bios power on password or the Windows log on password?
    If it is the Windows password  here is a link from MIcrosoft.com that may help.  What to do if you forget your Windows password.

  • Envy 23 touch smart pc not working

    Ant one know what's wrong with my envy 23 touch smart PC doesn't work when power pack plugged in tried a different plug ant got a green light so tried it plugging my pc in the green light on the power pack didn't come on and absolutely nothing from the pc ant one got any clues thanks

    I understand that when you plug in your power adapter to the wall the light comes on, but when you plug it into the HP ENVY 23 the light will not come on. I suspect that your power adapter is defective. I would be happy to assist you, but first I would encourage you to post your product number for your computer.   • HINGES BROKEN ON HP LAPTOP HELP PLEASE

    Hi all, The hinges on my HP laptop have broken after 2 and a half years of use. Now I'm stuck with this laptop and am a student for another 2 years since I can't afford to buy another laptop yet. My previous TOSHIBA laptop had very thick and undeniably 'invinsible' hinges and structure and I switched to an HP laptop to keep that same luxury with faster speed and performance. However, I already had to bear with the 70 degrees celcius average CPU warm up time because it overheats almost always and not to mention that my graphics card (Radeon) isn't even detected. My screen is messed up and I have no idea what to do, I really need help. I think you guys at HP would help me but I'm just freaking out because school begins again in another month and I have to take my laptop there everyday for programming classes and clubs.  This breaking had nothing to do with me because I treated the laptop as it were fragile in order to prevent damages and things like that. There have been 30 pages of posts relating to these weak breaking hinges, 10 pages for overheating and forums on other sites for the Radeon problem. Please help me HP as I know you get your customers satisfied.  Thank you, Shehryar

    If it is the AMD processor version of the dv6000 the odds you need a new motherboard are very, very good. Do you have wireless issues? Do you get funny lines on the screen? On the other hand, if it is just generally slow there could be a million reasons for that, most of which are software and would be cured with a fresh load of Windows. Do a factory reimage if you can, to help rule out software as the problem.

  • Brand new touch smart 520 losing wireless connection randomly

    i have a brand new touch smart 520 and it is constantly losing wifi connection. it is only about 20 ft away from router so it is not a distance issue. it is also not my router because my phones and my laptop do just fine.. it is saying i have the latest drivers. what do i do now.. dont want to have to deal with this everyday!

    You may buy usb micro Bluetooth adapter.
    With that kind of device you don't need to even remember then it's plugged.

    Hey guys i have a Touch Smart 520 and I was wondering if it could do gaming and if i can upgrade the graphics card

    The TouchSmart series of computers have more in common with a laptop then it does with a desktop computer. While it may be possible to upgrade the graphics card, it will be expensive and may not work. Please provide the full model name and/or product number of the HP TouchSmart computer in question for more assistance.

    and the funny thing is.. there is no touch screen driver for X86 nor for X64 (which is the default OS came with this laptop) posted in HP's website
    also, web cam driver is missing.. after installation.. windows can find the finger print reader but its not working at all.
    I just wonder if anyone know how to address those issue? Thx

  • Dm4 Left hinge broken

    I'm  wondering  how a notebook (dm-4) tht has been on a desk in the open position 80% of the time since 2012 can have a hinge broken? This note book was seldom closed, so my  question is _ How would this hinge stand up for a user tht indeed does take the notebook to work, classes, the coofee shop  ect.. whn sitting on a desk n seldom closed the hinge has failed??  The dm-4 has seldom left the desk it is on..... n thy call ths a note book. Note books r made to open n close... hence the moniker  "notebook"  thy open n close.
    Now I have a unit on a desk tht has a sign "DO NOT CLOSE" seems silly. The Hp repair cost @ $179.99 is wht I see has a kick in the gut to it's users. The hinge is a very important part tht should hold-up n preform over time.      Come-on Hp  !!

    Left hinge of my HP Pavilion dm4 1165dx laptop was broken.
    I contatcted the HP service center on phone, told by the customer service representative:
    1. The only way HP epairs the hinge is replacing the entire LCD display, @US$190, with 7 - 9 days of turn around.
    2. There is no HP service enter in Los Angeles, CA where I can take the laptop to be repaired.
    3. On-site technician service is not available at Los Angeles, CA.
    4. I can 'take it or leave it' for the service available to me.
    No. 4 sounds harsh, particularly to a long time loyal HP customer such as myself.
    However, that aside, what can I do to have my laptop repaired reasonably?
    No one can afford to be without a laptop for 7 - 9 days for loss of productivitiy.
    Since you represent HP, is there anything you can do to help me? The bevel for display cracked at the corner due to the broken hinge when I tried to close the laptop. I need to repair the hinge before it cause more secondary damages.

    Is the media already on the iPad?  If not, iTunes purchases can be redownloaded if they are still available in iTunes.  Non-iTunes purchases would need to be synced from iTunes on a computer.
