HP Envy Touchscreen Issues

Hi all. First off, I'm on a HP ENVY TouchSmart m6-k015dx Sleekbook, Windows 10. I've had it for two years now. A while back, it fell off of my bed in college but I didn't have any trouble with it until recently.
It took me a while to discover the issue, I thought it was the touch pad because after updating to Windows 10, my buttons on the touch pad will not work. But sometimes when I would adjust my screen, it causes the cursor to move on its own, a bunch of these clear dots show up all down the middle of the screen, and it just clicks and moves things on its own. It's very annoying. The only temporary fix I have found is to use a little pressure onto the touch screen with my hands. It seems to send it back to normal until it acts up again. I'm just wondering, could me dropping it all those months ago be the cause? Should I take it to the shop? It's my school computer so it would have to be either a quick fix over a weekend or something because I need it for school. I've saw others have this same problem and it recommended to download some update, but where I'm windows 10 I can't find it. I just got to thinking that maybe it's where I dropped it a while back. The issue is very annoying and if there's a way to either disable the touch screen or something for Windows 10 to download to maybe try and fix it, that'd be great. It started this over the summer and I'm about to start classes again so I'd hate for this to be an ongoing issue while doing papers and the like.

Hi,
I purchased an HP Envy in October 2013 and mine is doing the same thing.  I have called technical support and they installed some drivers, but it has not helped.  My computer also acts like it has a mind of its own.  I'd like to get this resolved before the warranty runs out.
Did you get any resolution on yours?
Thanks,

  • Touchscreen issue since IOS 5.1

Is anyone else having problems with the touchscreen since installing IOS 5.1? It seems like the calibration is off.
I am also unable to install apps. Ive tried restoring and soft resets but nothing seems to work.
Am I the only one? or does anyone know how to fix this?
    Thanks

Sorry -- no fixes for you but I, too, am experiencing this problem with my iPod Touch 4th gen. I even did a restore and reinstall from iTunes to see if there had been in installation issue (I had an installation issue over wi-fi where the Apple logo appeared with an empty progress bar for most of an hour). After a couple of re-boots it finally kicked in but with the touchscreen issue.  The restore didn't resolve anything. Kinda got a gut feel like the updates for the Ipad 3 screen resolution is what is causing the problem on the small screen of the iPhone/iPod. My iPad 1 isn't having any issues. I don't know if my wife's iPod is problematic or not. Both her iPad 1 and iPod 4 were updated last weekend but haven't heard any reports.

  • Taken Aback- touchscreen issue

I have enjoyed and supported this company's products and services for some time. So, today when I inquired with tech support about my touchscreen issue (non working band of the screen ..the 456 area on the dialpad)...I was taken aback at the very least that I should send my phone in for repair and then PAY for a loaner. hmmm..I just paid 700 for a phone that is now handicapped two months later by what seems to be a common issue, accourding to the forums, and I should fork over some more $$$? Principle alone may make me dust off my Blackberry.

these kind of comments are just besides the point. there is a degree of company loyalty that is ok, but this is a clear shortcoming of Apple's understanding of the mobile market. I am a huge Apple fan (have had Macs for more than 20 years, I had a Newton, and now the iPhone), but I have also had about 30 mobile phones over the last 15 or so years. And I have to say that I have never had a phone before that broke, that needed repair. Or that broke just by falling down (that is what happened to my iphone, one fall out of 1.5 feet and the screen is cracked). What Apple has to understand is that the mobile phone market is not the computer market. Phones have to work and have to survive some everyday punishments, otherwise they are just nice looking but otherwise useless devices. Just take a look at Palms and Blackberrys, the thing about them is that they work, just like Nokias and in the past Ericsson's.

  • Very Strange Touchscreen Issue

I recieved and activated my new 8GB iPhone about two days ago and it worked great up until just a few hours ago. I am experiencing the known issue of the bottom 1/2 inch or so of the touchscreen not responding to my touch, which in turn is affecting a lot of main elements of the phone such as SMS, e-mail, iPod, etc. Among that issue, I also encountered a very strange occurrence whilst I was testing the 'dead zone' on my iPhone: Certain sections of the dead zone work if I hover my finger about 2 -3 centimeters from the screen. It is a very strange thing but true, lol. I can even capture video footage of this if it's necessary.
Since I bought my iPhone from an AT&T store, should I return it to them for a new one on the spot or should I do it through Apple? I hope it doesn't come down to the latter since I do not live anywhere near an Apple Store (New Orleans, LA) and I just switched from T-Mobile to AT&T so I'd really hate to purchase a cheap temporary phone while my iPhone is being replaced/fixed.
Edit: Have a Merry Christmas, everyone!

I just talked to Apple Support and they are going to repair it for me, it's just I need to wait til Friday since I am broke from Christmas! Once I get paid, then I can dish out the 30 dollars to get a rental iPhone to hold me over. The restore temporarily fixed the touchscreen issue since it happened again hours later.
Also, nobody I know who would have a spare AT&T phone doesn't come to mind so I can't just borrow a phone and start the repair process now, but the wait isn't too bad. At least they do not limit the iPhone rental to just physical Apple Store customers!
Thanks for the help, folks. :V

  • Z10 Touchscreen Issues - Possible Solution?

A few months back my Z10 touchscreen became unresponsive. I could not find a solution, so I purchased a new Z10. Recenty I dropped the new Z10 in water...so, still in posession of the old unresponsive Z10, I decided to give it another try. I put my sim card in, and the new battery that came with the new phone. VOILA! Works like a charm. Try replacing your battery. i wish I had known this months ago, could have saved myself spending $200 on a new phone upgrade.

I'm happy for your positive outcome but I would argue that the battery was not the culprit. Sure, it appears that it was but exchanging batteries to correct a touchscreen issue is not something we would have suggested; I'm sure this is just coincidence.
Whatever the situation, you now have a Z10 in perfect working order. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.

  • Za touchscreen issues

I recently bought a Z1 and i found an annoying touchscreen issue that might be a software bug.
If i put my Phone on a flat surface the touchscreen does not respond wel. It detects taps that are not there. Unlocking Phone with strong pattern lock is almost impossible.

  • IPad Touchscreen Issues

I recently sent my new 16GB wifi iPad to Apple due to some touchscreen issues I was having. Upon receiving the iPad, Apple did testing on it and concluded that they could not reproduce the issue. The problem was that there was a ½" portion of the touchscreen not responding to touch. I got back my original iPad unaltered and immediately set it up as a new iPad on my computer and tested it using the Adobe Ideas app to ensure the touchscreen was working properly. The same issue is occurring as was before sending it in. It was recommended that I make a youtube video of the issue and post it on this board to get help in fixing the problem.
    Here's the video -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_U-3kBIJ90

Just take it to the Apple store genius bar. The video / demo you showed should be more than enough to have it addressed on the spot.

  • TouchSmart 310 1020 touchscreen issues

My TouchSmart 310 1020 has touchscreen issues. Only part of the screen will work, the rest of the screen doesn't recognize touch commands. Specifically, the only part of the screen that will work for touch is the bottom left quarter, the rest of the screen doesn't work. I tried to clean it, I also ran the calibration utility to no avail. With the calibration utility, when the target would move out of the useable area I was unable to touch the targets. I also reset the calibration settings to no avail.
Do touchscreens partially stop working? Should I replace the screen or is there a simpler solition?

I have an HP TouchSmart 320-1030 that I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 8. I have had similar issues at various times.
    1. Believe it or not, some of the calibration issues I experienced in the past  were actually caused by Microsoft's calibration tool! Undoing the calibration helped. To do that:
Move the mouse pointer to the lower left corner of the screen, right-click, and select Control Panel from the menu.
    Click Hardware and Sound.
    Click Tablet PC Settings.
On the Display tab of Tablet PC Settings, click Reset (if the Reset button is grayed-out, that means there is no data to undo.)
When prompted, click Yes to allow Microsoft's Digitizer Calibration Tool to make changes to your computer.
    2. To get my touch screen to work after upgrading to Windows 8, I had to disable my graphics card.
You will find the instructions on how to do that  in this HP support document (the fourth set of instructions under Touch screen doesn't work after upgrading to Windows 8):

  • HP Envy 23 touchscreen issues

Just purchased an HP Envy 23-d284 TouchSmart system a few days ago, and the touch screen started going haywire yesterday. It acts as though someone/something is constantly touching the screen, which causes the screen to react by giving context/right-click menus. Even at startup, while in the Start page, the first icon flashes with a check mark (as though it is being selected) and the bottom bar (unpin/uninstall options) flashes as well.
Once I'm on the desktop, I can't do anything since everytime I attempt to type or click on an icon, the context menu presents itself and overrides my selection.
I have cleaned the screen, done a full system restore, and ran a system scan with Windows Defender (Norton has been removed). No issues anywhere that I can find, and haven't seen anyone else out there with a similar complaint. Ideas?
    Thanks.

  • HP Envy trackpad issues

Hi, I hope this problem can be fixed without having to return my laptop. I bought an HP Envy about a week ago and I've been having issues with the touchpad/trackpad or whatever you'd like to call it. My product number is E1P04AAR. The touchpad just simply doesn't behave. It's not precise, it rarely lets me right click, sometimes only clicking it works and sometimes only tapping it works. It jumps around sometimes for no reason at all. This is really bothering me and I hope someone could please help me out or tell me what to do. Thank you.

Hi hamdiabdi, welcome to the HP Forums. I understand that your TouchPad is acting erratically.

  • HP Envy 4500 - issues with paper feeding on intial setup

I just bought this HP Envy 4500 this afternoon and I need to use it asap.  Upon initial set up (before any wireless connections), I am stuck at the paper feed needed in order to print the test page. I loaded plain white paper but it still tells me to load the paper.  It sounds like it's preparing to print but then the paper does not feed, it never pulls the paper in.  I have used 3 varying stacks of paper to try to get it to pull and nothing.
    Please help.  TIA

    Hi @Loopster2,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see you are setting up your HP Envy 4500, but it is not recognizing the paper, so it keeps asking you to load the paper.
Please make sure the Paper Tray is pushed all the way back, alot of the times if you are getting this error it is because the paper tray isn't installed properly.

  • Envy 7640 issues.

I used to own a photosmart printer and loved it. Unfortunitly I wore it out.
So I purchased a HP ENVY 7640 All in one printer.
I'm having serious issues with this one and want to know if others have had the same issues.
    This thing sucks!
It came with a Tricolor and Black cartridge which worked fine the first week.
Then a week went by when I didn't use it and when I tried to the color quit working except Yellow.
Tried the cleaning process and with each pass it got a little better but never 100%.
That cleaning process drained the cartridges to about 1/3 capacity.
I had purchased a second set of cartridges at the same time and installed them.
    Back in business, worked fine.
About another week went by and I tried to print and the same issue again.
Performed the clean process 3 passes and it got better but only about 60% of what it should have been.
Removed the cartridge and cleaned the print head manually with a tissue, reinstalled it and it worked fine again.
This seems like a SERIOUS design flaw if the ink is going to dry out on the print heads, clog, not work, and even a triple pass of the cleaning process doesn't fix it.
I have never had such poor performance from a printer before!!!!
I'm concerned that purchasing the additional cartridges, and signing up for the Ink on demand program has been a total waist of money.
I'm going to take it back and exchange it for another new one and if it does the same thing, that is the last HP printer I will ever purchase! I wanted to remain loyal as I worked for HP for 25 years but if their products have gotten this bad I will switch to someone elses!
Please let me know if any of you have experienced these issues.
The print cartridges it uses are the "62" cartridges.
