HP Envy Touchsmart 15-J104sa Memory Card Reader not working

I took delivery of an HP Envy Touchsmart 15-J104sa running Windows 8.1 this week and the internal memory card reader isn't working. It doesn't recognise any SD cards (I've tried more than one) and continues as if nothing has been inserted; showing no error messages. All of the cards work on my previous HP laptop. The only way to get the laptop to show an inserted SD card is to run the driver update software (http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp63001-63500/sp63415.exe) every time an SD card is inserted; this must be done with the card in the reader. If the software is run and then the card is inserted nothing happens. If the card is ejected and then re-inserted (or a new card inserted) it isn't recognised and the process has to be restarted and the driver reinstalled even though nothing has changed.
Can somebody please help me with this issue or I will have to return the laptop to HP. I do a lot of photography so being able to read an SD card quickly and reliably is extremely important for me; it's not a problem I expected from a brand new laptop straight out of the box.

Unfortunately non of the driver updates solved the problem but a BIOS update through the HP Support application seems to have remedied the issue. Whilst I appreciate there were no specific drivers available I find it hard to accept that HP should be able to release a model where they know the hardware will not be fully supported by the OS and in this case not function.

USB memory card reader not working since latest security update

Hi, I have an iApp CR-e500 multi-format memory card reader; worked great prior to the latest security update. Now every time I plug it in I get the following errors in the console:

The reader works fine on my office Windows laptop and my USB pendrive still works on my Mac, so the USB ports appear to be functional; they just don't like this thing anymore.
Was there a USB driver change? If so is there anything I can do to sort this? I suppose I could just buy a new card reader if someone can confirm one that works with the latest security update of 10.4.11, that would be great.
Alternatively if Apple could please loosen up whatever they tightened in their USB drivers that would be nice as well...

Pls, I need help as my Nokia 3110 classic is no longer reading my memory card and even putting a working memory card makes no difference. can someone tell what to do as i am confused. thanks

The phone is working perfectly now adn i would not like a surprise like my two others "wich i don't trust, they manage to destroy two of my phones more then they ware, at two diferent services" if there is something to do by myself i will do it, if not i prefere to keep it like this then not having it at all, i have tried formating the memory cards on other phones, on a nokia 6131, moto v630, and nokia 3250, still not working, i had a problem allmost the same with a Mp3 player an all i had to do was put two pins in short, but i don't know if there is something like this on the 7373, and even if there is i don't know wich pins to short. Simply take it to an Apple Store or reseller if it's in warranty. Your Mac will be repaired or replaced for free because it looks a hardware problem rather than a software issue.
If it's not in warranty, hold Command and R keys while your MacBook is starting up, and reinstall OS X. If it doesn't work, you can't do much more to solve the problem

Pavilion dv6 sd card reader not working

I have searched the boards and have not found an answer to my built in SD card reader not working any more. It worked fine until a couple weeks ago. When I go to "my computer", the sd card does not show up as an available drive. I have tried several cards with no luck. The cards work fine when I use a USB card reader, just not the built in one.
I checked the driver in device manager - at least the one I believe is the correct one - Realtec PCIE Card Reader.
Any other ideas? It is a pain having to carry around an extra card reader. Thanks for the help

Prior to the uninstall did the computer make a noise to indicate it recognized the card when you put it in?
You should go ahead and reinstall the specific driver for the card reader just to make sure that doesn't have an effect on the issue. Here is the link for Windows 7 and here is the link for Windows 8.
Another possibility is the the Plug and Play service is deactivated. Try the following to check.
Press the Windows+R keyboard shortcut.
Type "services.msc" into the box and click okay.
Scroll down until you find "Plug and Play" in the list.
Ensure that it is started. If it is not right-click on the service and select Start or Enable.

I'm sorry to hear that first of all make sure that there is nothing sick on the eye of the camera it self, after that how is the lighting on the room that the computer will be set up? did the green light came on when you're trying to use iSight? i'm asking because the same thing happen to me but it was nothing but bad lighting in my office. If this doen't help call apple asap they should replace your computer with out a problem. Hope this helps good luck!

HP Pavilion Elite e9280t Desktop - Memory Card Reader Stopped Working

Hello,
         I have a HP Pavilion Elite e9280t CTO Desktop PC ... The memory card reader recently stopped working. I believe, maybe the firmware, and/or driver was deleted by one of my optimization softwares. I checked the "Device Manager" list and was unable to locate "any" memory card device.  All the USB plugs work fine. When I place an SD card in the memory card reader slot, the light comes on, but the computer does not recognize the card. The card does not show up in my "Computer" window with the other drives. I checked the card out on my other computer, and it worked fine.   I also have an HP laptop that I tested my SD cards on, and the cards worked fine on my laptop.
        I would appreciate any help, or suggestions, that any one might give.

SD card reader not working in Satellite A305 series

I have an A305 series laptop. It's only 6 weeks old and I bought it brand new.
The sd card reader has worked fine up until today.
It's not working anymore. Device manager shows it's disabled.
I tried to enable it but it says Windows can't enable it. I tried uninstalling and rebooting.
The computer found the device and reinstalled it but it's still disabled and won't work.
Any ideas what might be wrong? It's running Vista by the way.

The only download shown under SD is Toshiba SD Memory Utilities. Would that be it?
I called Toshiba and they said it's a software problem and it is covered by the warranty. The lady told me to do a system restore and restore it to a point when the card reader was working. I tried that and guess what?
It won't restore. It says something is wrong with my files and it can't restore. That's probably not a good thing right? She said to call back if that didn't work but my 2 year old daughter isn't cooperating so I'll have to call back at nap time.

I am using a micro SD adapter which works in every device that I currently own but will not register in this computer. I have seen other post regarding this issue but they were relating to a tablet or differnt device not the one that I have. Has anyone else experienced this problem and how did you solve it? Networked Photosmart 8750 card reader not working.

I am working on a windows 7 64bit laptop and have the photosmart 8750 networked. The print function works fine but can't seem to get the memory card reader on the printer to work. It worked when my desktop was plugged in via ethernet cable and it was also using windows xp.

SD card reader stopped working on my EliteBook 6930p because of broken card socket. I found audio/card reader board on eBay, it looks same, but has got different part number. Can audio/reader board part no. 48.4V902.021 be replacement part for board no. 55.4V902.011?

T530 SD Card reader not working

I've tried the general help but there is no SD reader in System>Disk Drives. I've tried downloading the Ricoh driver, and installing it, but nothing. The Lenovo Help just says there is a Base System Device that is not installed. I am using Windows 7. This is a 2359-4DU. Lenovo updates doesn't say I need to update the card reader drivers.

Why does my card reader not work on my iPad since upgrade?

I use my iPad mini to download photos from my camera when I'm on the road. In the summer I bought the "3 in 1 Card Reader Adapter Cable Camera Connection Kit, 3 Port Card Reader for iPad 4 and iPad Mini by Eurekka" and it worked wonderfully. I was able to download photos (jpg and RAW) directly to the iPad and off the camera, and once home it was a flawless upload to my iMac.
However, once I upgraded to iOS 7 last week I get a message saying the device is not supported. What gives? Will this be fixed or will Apple products only accept Apple accessories from now on?
