Hp f380 scanner doesn't work for normal user
I have a problem concerning my scanner. It works well (after few issues after the upgrade of hplip) under root, yet it does not work under user. It would work for half a year but after one of lasts upgrades it does not any more. My user is added to scanner group of course.
simple. I got similar issues with my cx3900 all-in-one.
What I did is to create a udev rule to force the related devices to be owned to specific group.
For instance
/etc/udev/rules.d/goddamned_scanner.rules
ACTION=="add", BUS=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="Vendor", ATTRS{idProduct}=="Product", MODE:="0660", GROUP:="scanner"
Note the ':=' on the GROUP and MODE field.
replace Vendor and Product by the information supplied by the output of lsusb (vendor:product) and reload the udev ruleset with:
udevadm command --reload-rules

alsa on my arch box doesn't work for normal user, just for root. when i attempt to run ogle, it gives this error:

error in the first line accurs even when i attempt to open audio tab in winecfg. googling this error didn't help me. xmms with alsa output doesn't seem to work too giving the same error, it works just with oss output.
hmm, and YES i DO HAVE audio group, and my user IS member of this group.

groups run under user gave just gids of groups, whilst under root it gave proper names. so i took look at /etc/group and here is the problem :shock:
[root@otovo etc]# ls -l group

i've changed permissions to a+r and it's working.

Fingerprint utility is not working for normal users - Tecra M11
Hi All,
I installed windows 7 pro in Tecra M11 laptop and the Toshiba finger print utility is not working for normal users.
It is working only for domain administrators. The TFPU is not working for, normal domain users, local users, local administrators. If we run the utility it will ask to enter the windows password and once we applied the password then the message saying "entered password is not valid" will prompt even if we are trying to use the utility first time.
If we try with a domain admin account it will work without any problem. Can somebody help me to trouble shoot this issue?

Then what should you do? One choose is fix the Fingerprint scanners, but this method will cost a lot of money. The other is use the Windows password function to solve the problem. Certainly, this is a very safer, faster and easier to use method for you.
According my personal experience, you can try these three ways to re-access to your PC:
Method 1: Login with the default administrator account
* Step 1: Start Windows PC
* Step 2: When you can see the Windows login screen, press ctrl+alt+del keys Twice and it'll show Classic Login box
* Step 3: Type Administrator as Username and leave the password field blank
* Step 4: Press the Enter Key and then you can be able to login the default windows administrator account which is it created by default when install windows.
*Note:* This trick is only work for Windows XP. And when you input the key combination Please don't put the cursor on any account. And if you change the name or password before, you cannot login by this way.
Method 2: Use the previous password reset disk
This method describes how to create and use a password reset disk for a computer that is a member of a domain. You can use a Windows password reset disk to gain access to your Microsoft Windows Professional-based computer if you forget your Windows password. Please click here to learn more.
Method 3: Using Windows Password Unlocker

JRE 1.4 autoupdate doesn't work for multiple users
In trying to simulate an environment where most users don't have administrative rights I tried this little test.
Install Webstart with JRE 1.3.1 or whatever
Have my app look for 1.4 in the JNLP file
I installed webstart and had it run the autoupdate, like it should, while logged in as an admin. when I then logged in as a standard user, i get this error popup
Bad installation. Error invoking Java VM (SysExec)
c:\Program Files\Java Web Start\.javaws\cache\.ext\E1022773239667\bin\\javaw.exe
Anyone have any ideas? It works fine under the admin account, but this under user account.
MattIt is possible to install a 1.4.0 JRE (which will also install JWS) as normal user without admin rights, but with enough rights to install apps on his disk.
However I don't know what happens, if several users on the same machine do this.
Will they end up with k individual installations or will there be some interference?
Among the information that leaked on the next Java version 1.4.1, which includes a new JWS version 1.0.2, it was told that it will be made multi user capable.

I have run into an issue as the title of this question suggests.
So the senario is, I have (all Virtual):
2x 2008 R2 Remote Desktop Servers
1x 2008 R2 with Session Broker install
I haven't configured any RD settings on the session broker server (i.e. RD virtual desktop, RD Gateway, etc) It's purely setup as the RD Connection Broker
Each of the RD servers I have configured 2 NIC's. The 1st NIC is configured with NLB (NLB only setup for traffic on port 3389 all other traffic isn't handled by NLB). The other NIC is configured to be used only for session reconnection. I'm hoping this is

I have setup the NLBs Cluster IP. A rule has been set on the router to make it available externally
This worked fine with an old single RD Server (same IP as NLB Cluster IP, currently offline so no conflict) before the RD Farm was implemented. So I know the port forwarding is OK.
So NLB and Connection Broker Load-Balancing work well for users inside the network. It spreads sessions evenly and there is no problem with DNS resolving the farm name etc. Sessions that are disconnected are reconnected to the same server, etc.
Accessing the TS Farm from the external address isn't so successful
Connectivity is random. Rarely it works, sometimes it gets to "initiating remote connection..." and then disconnects. It doesn't work more times than it does.
So what do I need to do to get this working? Is there another component or something else that I need to configure to get it all working?

If both the RD session broker and the NLB are working fine in
the internal network, I suspect that there is something wrong with the external connection. I’d like to confirm the following questions to narrow down this issue:
1.
Can you PING and telnet this RDS farm name when encountering the “disconnect” issue? For example: telnet farmname
3389.
2.
Can you individually connect to the RDS server when failing to connect it via farm name?
3.
Did you configure any certificate on the RDS server or RD gateway server?
4.
Do you get any event log when this issue happens on the server and client side? If yes, please let me know it word-by-word including the event ID.

This is bug 7822790. The problem is that the code wants the user to have Edit or higher or else it returns no data. I would recommend that you open up a ticket with support and tell them that you simply want to get the case associated with the bug. There is no workaround, but doing this will give it more weight in the future.

Submit button for online PDF form doesn't work for some users
Two online forms I've created in LiveCycle Designer 8.2 work fine for me. But when some of my site's users click on the Submit button in either form, it simply flashes and then does nothing. It's a standard Submit button with a Mailto link. The documents are PDF Version 1.7, and I'm using Acrobat Pro 9.4.5 and Reader 9.4. Any suggestions on troubleshooting would be great.
Has this form been enabled with Form Rights for Reader. If the entire PDF is submitted, then the PDF must be Reader enabled to operate on Reader.
Another issue is that an email submit is entirely dependant on the user's system. There must be a local email client installed and registered with the system. Internet email will not work. This is the most likely issue. Althougth there are other things that could be wrong. You might want to consider using the Acrobat.com to distribute your forms. This method gets around the email issue for most users.
Other issues that could cause this problem are the users' version of Acrobat/Reader as well as any kind of funky system/security setup. -

Agent Assignment Doesn't work For Some Users
Hi all,
In OOCU_RESP there are four agents in a responsibility. But only one (say A) of the four gets tasks in Inbox. The other three (say B, C, D) get nothing.
I removed A from the responsibility and B, C, D still get nothing. In SWIA the log shows no agent assigned. But in SWI2_DIAG there is no error info.
In OOCU_RESP, Simulate rule resolution, i can get all 4 agents assigned.
I feel like there is something wrong with B, C, D's SAP account settings. But I have no clue what it can be. Advise please!Hi Dayong
Please check the Agent Assignment settings of the task used for sending the WI to the users. Is the task set to General task or specific agents are listed there?
PFTC->Supply the Task-> Additional Data -> Agent Assignment
Also, check if these agents are listed in Excluded agents in the Workflow Step.

Oracle client 9i doesn't work for windows ordinary user
Hello All,
I've installed oracle 9i client on windows xp. Client software works for user belonging to windows administrators group. it doesn't works for ordinary users not belonging to administrators group. Particularly when i run sqlplus from command line i get following error :
Incorrect environment variable PLUS_DFLT
Program execution error.
i also need access to Oracle ODBC driver.
When i try to configure ODBC source (created by user with administrator privileges) by common user i get following errors :
The setup routines for Oracle for Oracle in OraHome9i ODBC driver couldn't be loaded due to system error code 5
Could not load the setup or translator library

Regards Arkadiusz MasnyIt sounds like the users on the machine do not have access to the Oracle home directory. Check the permissions of the folder by right properties, select the user and check that they have read and then select advanced. Tick the "replace permission entries....." box and apply. This will re apply all user rights in all folders and subfolders. Try again.

Outlook Anywhere not working for some users
Hi All,
I am having a strange issue today with a customer -
Outlook Anywhere has been enabled on their Exchange 2010 environment, but it doesn't work for some users.
Using the ExRCA I have been able to identify the following error on the users who are unable to connect:
"Testing the MAPI Mail Store endpoint on the Exchange server."
"Attempting to log on to the mailbox"
Mailbox logon returned ecLoginPerm 1010. You don't have the correct permissions to log in to the mailbox.
EMSMDB Status: ecLoginPerm 1010
Elapsed Time: 225 ms.
On users that are able to connect it goes through the ExRCA without any issues.
Any help would be much appreciated.

we have an emergency now. Receiver determination doesn't work for same IDoc type but in different SWCV.Please check below for detail.
1. The process flow is : R/3 IDoc -> XI -> Third party system
2. In previous release R13, IDoc ORDERS05 was imported and used in XI and software component version is R13. And receiver determination was created.
3. Now, in new release R17, IDoc ORDERS05 was imported from R/3 to XI again and software component version is R17. And in R17, the receiver determination created in R13 was used for both old interface(R13) and new interface in R17.
Then we encountered the problem, both interfaces doesn't work now, even we deleted the receiver condition(In R13, IDoc ORDERS05 was sent to system A, and in R17 IDoc ORDERS05 was sent to system B, RCVPRN was used as an condition).
Does anyone encounter this problem? really need and appreciate your help.

And in SMQ2, I checked the queue information, found there's an error - "An exception occurred that was not caught." No any other detail information for this error. -
SafeSleep doesn't work for Mac mini
I use Mac mini (Mid 2011) with hibernatemode=3.
But my Mac doesn't reboot from sleepimage afer I unplug the power cord. I mean SafeSleep doesn't work for my Mac. It boots normally but every program is initialized.
It is strange that I very rarely watch the very moment that my Mac's progress bar when rebooting from SafeSleep successfully.
Please help me to use SafeSleep and to save energy.

I have two monitor setup (laptop + main monitor) and I would love to use "Only show tasks from the current desktop" option in KDE Task Manager but for some strange reason it doesn't work for me. Well, it works but only partially - for restored/unmaximized windows. When I maximize one it appears on the Taskbar on both screens. Is this normal? May it be due to the fact that I've placed Taskbar on top of the screens?Did you miss this bit
