HP Folio 13 mSATA upgrade video

I was wondering if anyone could help out with a video, I want to upgrade to a 256gb and 8gb of ram. Looking at the manual it seems like a tough task getting inside. Is there a video out for this yet, or could someone make one and post it?

The first two will work but not the third one. See the three connection prongs instead of 2? That third one is a newer interface called M.2 mSATA. Like the one on the right here. You need the kind on the left.

No, Macbooks like all laptops have the video card integrated with the logic board.

  • URGENT - folio builder panel upgrade

We are publishing one of our monthly issues in a few hours but have just seen the message:
'A mandatory Folio Builder Panel upgrade will be required on May 2nd. Installers will be posted at http://www.adobe.com/downloads/ when the update is required.'
Can we still publish as planned or do I have to install the new panel before hand?
    Thanks
    Liam

The creation of a folio file and having it show up in a branded app consists of several steps. Creation of a folio in the folio builder panel is what we call the upload or creation process. The act of putting the folio onto the distribution service for consumption by a mass audience is what we call "publishing" the folio.
Once a folio has been created using whatever version of the tools you want and a supported version of the folio builder panel, you can publish the content from the folio producer tools at any time. The version of the panel you use or updating the panel has nothing to do with the publish action which is the migration of content onto the distribution service.

  • Upgrade video card for compaq S6000CL

How can I upgrade my video card on my compaq S6000CL?  I have vista installed (upgrade).  I'd like to download the upgraded video card software and not have to replace the whole video card.
    Thanks!

    Hi pilot3579,
So, in looking at the specifications for your computer (Compaq Presario S6000CL Desktop PC support), it appears you might have to get a video card in order to enhance your graphics. Your computer came with integrated graphics, and though there is one video driver available on your computer, it can only be downloaded with the originally installed Windows XP operating system still in place. I know that's not exactly what you wanted to hear, but that is the situation you are looking at.

  • Upgrade video card for Late 2005 PowerMac G5

I am looking for an upgrade video card for a Late 2005 PowerMac G5, which has the PCI-Express slots. I need at least 256 MB of VRAM.
Since this computer is a discontinued model, there doesn't seem to be too many options for video cards. I've seen some cards like the NVidia 6600 or 6800, or even ATI's X800, but they appear to be difficult to find.
The one card that is readily available still is the ATI X1900, which looks great, but a little on the pricey side ($349).
I did notice the NVidia 7300 GT, which is more moderately priced ($145), but it only mentions being an upgrade card for the Mac Pro. Will this also work with the PowerMac G5 (Late 2005) model? I would hate to buy this video card and then find out that it won't work.

The only available upgrade card for the Late 2005 G5s is the X1900GT (aka G5 Edition). It's basically on par with the nVidia 7800GT that was available as a BTO option.
You can get the 7800GT and QuadroFX 4500 as replacement parts, but they're exorbitantly priced.
The Mac Pro cards won't work (even though they're also PCI-Express) due to the ROM on the card. It's only setup to work with the Mac Pro's EFI boot system and doesn't have the necessary code to work with the PowerMac's Open Firmware boot system.

  • Folio Size - lots of video

I have a made a folio -- it has several videos -- when I publish it "fails" -- when I try to preview on my ipad it "fails" -- when I try to download it to my ipad it fails
-- what is teh maximum size that a folio can be?
I am thinking the best way around this would be to eitehr boot several of the videos or to bring in a html5 video player that links out to a video played off of S3.
    any ideas?
    thx

Ok I figured out my problem.
I agree Neil it's way too big for my users to download -- hey it's way too big to upload.
But I figured out my real issue.
Essentially I had each student layourt their 3 stories h and V individually.
Then they PACKAGED their content in Indesign for me to grade.
upon doing this each layout makes a separate links folder -- duplicating the assetts. As the guy who will wrap the project up I continued to work in this manner.
So when it came time to upload --> each layout was pulling in a separate video (doubling the size of the folio) -- though they were the same video. Essentially making a massive layout -- i asked this question on the forum and Bob Bringhurst just replied saying that I needed to link everything from one file.
This is good news though sets my timeline back a bit in relinking ALL of my content. But also makes me think the suggested way to set up your file system should be a REQUIREMENT and not a suggestion.
I also wish the "package" system in Indesign had a toggle for DPS  --
On that note, if you package content and you have an image sequence it only grabs the first image  -- not the 35 others -- same for panoramas  0 that through a major kink in my workflow.
Anywyas it's been fun learning DPS. I will let you know if I have any more issues.

It appears the 15" 2.2 ghz isn't worth spending $400 more for, but you get the 1GB Radeon 6750M that has four times the VRAM than the 15" 2.0Ghz model and about 167% more performance. High settings on all current games with over 50 fps.
If your not into 3D gaming or just light weight, then the 2.0 Ghz (last years performance) will suffice on low-medium settings at about 30 fps.
The 13" is rather poor as it has integrated graphics. 30 fps on only some games.
The high res screen is a excellent choice and the anti-glare is great for viewing just about anywhere.
No messy films to replace at $30-$40 a pop.
A lot of people bring the glossy screens back once they hear about the anti-glare.
    http://www.pcpro.co.uk/blogs/2011/05/23/glossy-vs-matte-screens-why-the-pc-indus trys-out-of-touch/
    Here's my 17"
In my opinion the extra $400 for another 2-3 years of use out of the computer is worth it.
Quad cores are more than enough for most uses for most people for many years, it's just a slow card is going to make the machine feel slow in rendering graphics in the future.

  • Upgrading Video Ram/Videocard?

I only have 128mb VRAM (Radion x1600) video card, i want more video ram, is it posable to upgrade it on my iMac?
How would you do anything like this?
I have no idea about graphics cards, so i need help, i just want all the option i can do to increase my Video memory, like how to do it, where to buy the things .ect.
If anyone can help me that would be GREAT, i really want to upgrade Video memory so i can run games better and stuff...
    Thanks!

The iMac is like a laptop. You get what you get when you get it. With the exception of RAM, you don't change the parts.
Macs have decent resale value, so selling an iMac in good condition to get a more recent one probably won't cost you much more than getting an upgrade for a large desktop computer with lots of bays and slots. Plus the newer iMac gets you (in addition to the better video hardware) a faster CPU, faster system bus, probably a bigger hard drive, and maybe a better display. And a well-integrated system that is optimized to work nicely.

  • Upgrade Video Card for HP Pavilion a6228x Desktop PC

I'm wanting to upgrade the video card and was wondering if there were any suggestions as to a good card for under $60. I just need something equivalient to  "NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT or ATI Radeon X1950 Pro" or better. I just got Star Wars the Old Republic and my factory istalled graphics card is not powerful enough. I'm a bit confused on what type of graphics card my desktop takes. I did read that it has
PCI Two (One available) PCI Express x16 One (One available) PCI Express x1 One (One available)
Would a PCI Express 2.0 fit in one of these?
One of the cards I am considering is:

Any suggestions would be great. Thank you.

    Hi,
You might want to google Stars Wars Old Republic system requirements and see what others are suggesting.  Game performance is also tied to the game quality settings and monitor resolution that you want to use.
I suggested these upgrades for another user wanting some suggestions.

  • Time to upgrade video card?????

I have a two year old MacPro 2.66 GHz Dual-Core Intel with 4 GB RAM, 4 internal 7200 rpm 500gb HDs and a NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT (256mb) video card. Would upgrading the video card improve the operation of LR2 relative to the rest of my hardware and if so, what make and model would folks recommend? Thanks in advance-

    > That said, how much difference could he really expect when going beyond 4GB? In my experience with
    > Windows, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of difference between 2GB and 4GB yet, and beyond
    > 4GB it seems like the difference is due more to the 64bit aspect and less to the extra RAM.
On Windows, unless you do some deliberate messing around, applications receive a maximum of 2GB even
though the 32-bit processor can access 4GB. The remaining 2GB are reserved for the OS, device
drivers, hardware that's mapped into memory, etc. But that 2GB for applications is the maximum size
of *virtual memory*. If you have 2GB of physical RAM, the app will never get that much physical
memory because Windows reserves some for itself and drivers, etc. Because Windows needs some
physical space for itself, it can be a performance improvement to go to 3GB in a machine so that
applications can (potentially) have their entire 2GB address space in physical memory *and* Windows
can put itself in the extra 1GB of physical memory. Going all the way to 4GB of memory doesn't add
much beyond going to 3 because Windows tends not to need more than 1GB for itself.
Going beyond 4GB can make a huge difference depending on what kind of work you're doing. If you're
doing work with large images, it can make a huge difference and it has little to do with the CPU's
computational performance being any better. It's that the CPU can now address much more physical
memory and thus the app doesn't incur any performance hit paging to/from disk.
Hope this is clear - let me know if not.

  • T42 want to upgrade video chip, so I need a new motherboard, what will be compatible?

    Hello, lenovo community.
First time posting here. I have recently been having issues with my T42, type 2373-8tu, where the screen will flicker and/or go blank, then the display will either look staticy (odd for an LCD) or it will just flash a bunch of artifacts (go here and click broken monitor, and that's sort of how my screen looks from time to time). I posted a thread on reddit and a user there suggested it could be an issue with the video chip if it's ATI (which it is). I did some research and found that it is a common problem.
Now, onto the upgrade. I was looking at the specs page and saw that there is a possible 128MB video chip, but I don't know if it's compatible with the 14.1 inch model (which I have). Further, I don't know which motherboard I would need which would have the video chip I'm looking for. Can any of you with more experience than myself offer some insight on this before I buy anything?
    Thanks for your time.

Brilliant! Thanks for that clarification. I opened it up last night to check some internal things and when I put it back together the screen backlight wasn't working. Could this be caused by a loose connection or is it more likely that I messed up the screen now too?
**Edit as of 1741 EST** Also I can't find the FRU for that board. Found the fru so nevermind that. However I don't want the security chip. It seems a lot of people have had issues with it and it seems more trouble than it's worth. Is there a way to get a board with out the security chip? This page doesn't show that's possible for the 128 MB board.
You might have blown the fuse on the motherboard, or it may just have died completely. Hard to tell without knowing more details.
As for the security chip, all of these "p" boards have one AFAIK, just turn it off in BIOS and call it a day, that's what I've been doing for a decade now anyway.
    Good luck.

Sorry for the long copy and paste. I read that I can upgrade the video card and power supply. But atm when I play world of warcraft at ultra settings, I tend to lag really bad in the new instances with the new cat expansion that came out. I wanted to know if I should upgrade the video card and power supply for better performance or just upgrade my whole pc tower.  Fyi, I am running a Acer X243w lcd flat panel monitor if that helps too.

My brother has a high end laptop with a built in, high end gaming video card (I forget which one). He's able to run the game on full-on Ultra.
I have an integrated video card which games the game on.. 'cartoon'.. mode. It's lower then low. When someone shoots a powerful spell at me, I go into a DOS Prompt. (not really, but it's pretty bad).
Funny thing is, I can still kick my brother's butt in any PVP match he wants to set up.
But I guess his graphics are pretty....
As for which video card works best, I'd have to do some research. After that graphics update they did with CAT,  it's kind of a toss up again.

  • Upgrade video card HP touchSmart 600 PC - 1350

My PC is TouchSmart 600 - 1350. It's dedicated video memory is just 64 MB. I want to upgrade to 1 GB. What video card that fit my mainboard I should buy? (I want a cheap one). And how can I upgrade myselt?

Here are the specs for your HP TouchSmart 600-1350 Desktop Computer. Your computer uses Intel integrated graphics and has a MXM 3.0 graphics expansion socket. This is not a standard desktop retail card. You can upgrade your graphics but it is going to be expensive, difficult, and still may not work.

  • Do I Need To Upgrade Video Card for ACD 20" for the PowerPC G4

    Hello,
I am extremely new to the MAC world so forgive my ignorance. I have a 450Mhz Power PC G4 running a 20gb harddrive. I recently bought the ACD 20" and when I tried to "plug and pray" the display came on for the initial "Apple" screen but when it came time to boot into the OS I got a black screen. I am running OS 10 Tiger and I have AGP graphics. From what I can discern I have a "ATY, Rage 128 Pro".
I read from another posting that the G4s that have the analog and digital video cards need to be upgraded. My question: Is there an upgradable solution for my system and if so what is it? Please say yes!!! LOL
    Thanks

  • Can't upgrade Video Driver, Windows XP, MacBook Pro 17" '09

After I downloaded newer video drivers from NVIDIA's site, the installation stops in the beginning saying "This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware."
It's the right hardware (GeForce 9600M GT) and driver (266.58). I've tried multiple driver versions (There have been many since the year+ old driver installed with bootcamp) and all have the same issue.
I've read that some laptop manufactures actually prevent users from updating their video drivers, and have tried work arounds such as those made by Mobility Modder.
    What's the deal?

Following the instructions here worked for me! http://www.technoish.com/1137/fix-latest-nvidia-mobility-driver-to-fit-your-note book/
It was a hassle, but I updated the old version 177.56 driver with the current 307.83.
I still blame Apple for either poor support or blocking upgrades.
