HP Folio 13 - volume Fn keys broken with kernel 3.6

I'd been hoping that the functionality of the HP Folio 13 ultrabook's function keys would improve over time (the wireless and brightness adjusting keys don't work - the volume control and keyboard backlight keys do).
Unfortunately it seems as though the latest (I presume) kernel update to 3.6 has broken the volume up-down function keys.

Ahhh - thanks for the heads up - I'll wait for GNOME 3.6 to hit

This only happens on the Xperia Z1, it's working fine on other phones.
It also works pretty fine when changing the volume of an active call - it only happens when trying to lower the volume of the phone or music.

  • Volume increase key broken - remap key?

    Hi guys,
It appears water damage or something is affecting my volume increase button (f5) and making it not work at all-- since it's the only button not working, and there's a way to increase the volume with the mouse, i don't want to pay to have it fixed. Instead, I'd really like to just re-map that key to one I don't use (such as the f7), or even switch the function as an output of the shift-volume decrease (f4) keystroke.
I can't for the life of me figure out how to do this. Apple doesn't seem to provide any way to do it, DoubleCommand doesn't do it, Ukelele doesn't do it (or I can't figure out how).... is there any way I can make this happen? Thanks!

With the BlackBerry device powered ON, remove the battery a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to reboot.
then see if you can increase volume

I am using Photoshop CS5 on a new iMac with a wireless keyboard.  I used to be able to hit F11 to perform a custom sharpening action but now the F11 key is the volume control key and I have tried everything to disable or switch the volume key. I have also tried assigning other function keys to initiate the action. Is there a simple solution to this? What am I missing?

Try unmounting the volume on your iMac using Disk Utility. Then mount it again. You may need to reboot the laptop or relaunch its Finder process (using the Force Quit window) after remounting the drive on your iMac. Remember that no process may be accessing any files on the drive you plan to unmount, or the unmount will fail. Unmounting and remounting an external drive on my iMac made it become visible on my MacBook Pro after it had disappeared.

  • How to Sideload WinRT App in WinRT 8/8.1 Machine with Volume License Key

    Hi,
I think I dont quite follow the documentations on Sideloading base on the following links :
The documentations are base on Development-PC is joined to the Enterprise Domain.
    Configure PCs for Sideloading Requirements
    a) http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/jj874388.aspx
    b)
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh852635.aspx#SideloadingRequirements
What about the case of developing app on PC that not joined to the Enterprise Domain?
We use the following method to write ,install and test App.
    1. We use VS 2012 Express for windows 8 and the PC is not joined to Enterprise Domain.
    2. After WinRT App and package created, We install the it in WinRT 8/8.1 machine without Volume License key this way.
-2.1- Copy the AppPackage in WinRT8/8.1 machine.
-2.2- Right click the Add-AppDevPackage of the WinRT app and run the powershell to install the app
    3. This kind of installation, the WinRT app has expiry date.
Now, we have these questions on Installing App with Volume License Key
    Base on these conditions :
    - We develop LOB App for businesses
    - assume we bought the license volume key
    - We develop WinRT App on VS 2012 Express for Windows 8 on PC not joined to Enterprise Domain
    - We need to install the App in 5 WinRT 8/8.1 machines that belong to our customer
    a) How to install WinRT App under this Condition? Please explain the steps.
    Thanks

    Hi,
First of all, you must sideload the product key. You can enable sideloading for these scenarios by using the Windows Software Licensing Management Tool (Slmgr.vbs) and performing the following steps for each targeted device:
    1. Add the sideloading product activation key to the device by running the following command from an elevated command prompt (where <sideloading product key> is the 25-digit sideloading product activation key):
    Slmgr /ipk <sideloading product key>
    2. Activate the sideloading product activation key by running the following command from an elevated command prompt:
    Slmgr /ato ec67814b-30e6-4a50-bf7b-d55daf729d1e

  • Deploy CC Download Manager with active volume license key

    Hello.
In our organization we have a volume license with 145 seats.
Is it possible to remotely deploy the download manager and somehow already activate the volume license key?
I looked at the CC packager, but for our users there would be too many combinations of packages and everything in one package is also not an option.
I found no way to activate the volume license key on a Adobe ID.
    thanks for any advice.

    Hi Abhjit,
We are indeed an Enterprise customer, and i have been looking at the creative packager application. But if we use pre-activated packages i would have to make around 20 different combinations (mix of video editing, photo editing, recording, flash packages etc etc). Which would make the maintenance impossible.
I would prefer to ONLY install the Download Manager on everyone's computer, and let them choose which packages they actualy need without the need to enter the volume license key.
If i install the download manager, and only ONE packaged application (for example Photoshop), would all the other applications automaticaly be activated aswell?
Also: It's not possible to activate a volume license key on a Adobe ID right?
    thx for reading

Hello, we have used Creative Cloud Packager and volume licensing key to create Adobe Photoshop CC v.6 and other apps packages, tested before deployment. Deployed the image on iMAC computers, users are getting Sign in Required/ registration details message. Tried to use AAMEE to create serialization file, but it does not recogise packages created by Creative Cloud Packager. appreciate any advice. thank you.

    HI Abhijit,
All our students have network home folders, the issue is that some students can open Photoshop and it will be activated, other students will  be prompted to activate PHotoshop when they try to open it. We have tried to delete photoshop plist and adobe photoshop settings folder from students Library/ Preferences folder but it did not help.
We'll test the APTEE utility tomorrow, I will post the results. Thank you.

So in the last few days I’ve noticed that pressing my volume change keys actually isn’t changing the volume on my macbook pro at all. When I press the volume up or down keys, it makes the recognisable pop sound but stays at the same volume while the squares go up or down. I mute it but my computer still makes sound. It’s the same with the volume control up the top of the screen, too. I slide it up and down and it doesn’t change the volume at all. The only way I can change the volume is with my speakers or the program I’m in (iTunes, VLC etc). I restarted and it seems to be okay then I go to change it a couple minutes later and it’s back to not working again.
I’ve checked my settings- the “use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard fuction keys” is not switched on, and I have tried a suggestion of moving the com.apple.systempreferences.plist file out of the library and onto the desktop and restarting and neither of those seem to make any difference whatsoever. I’ve tried to find online forums but the only suggestions I found were those two and they didn’t work.
I’m just annoyed because I usually have the worst luck with technology but my macbook had been going strong and I got it because of the apparent lack of things that could go wrong, but of course even if there is one thing that could go wrong it will happen to me.
    Please help!

  • How to remap volume control keys on aluminum keyboard?

I want to remap my volume control keys (increase, decrease and mute toggle) to F16, F17, and F18 on my new aluminum keyboard. But I can't figure out how to do this. I called AppleCare tech support and was told that volume key location is hardwired into the keyboard. Say it ain't so! There's got to be a way, right?
    Help?
    thank you!

I second this, I still think this was a poor decision on Apple's part. I loved real media keys, this is not a laptop keyboard, (Fn)+(..) should not be necessary. My real complaint comes from IF i can get it to remap in OSX i am still stuck with it as is in Bootcamp. No remapping programs work with (Fn) in XP.
Sorry for the rant but I have actually stopped using the keyboard because of this and finally went back to it to try again.

  • [SOLVED] Can't boot from LUKS - No key available with this passphrase

    The problem
Latest kbd package responsible for your keyboard layout may break some LUKS installs depending on the password used, as there are some keymaps which are broken, resulting in the user not being able to enter the password correctly.
    Relevant bug report: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/36689
    The fix
Find an old live image with the old kbd package (I had success with 2012.11.01)
    Boot the image
Change to your preferred keymap using
    loadkeys
    Open your encrypted device with
    cryptsetup luksOpen /path/to/device devicename
Mount the device and any other relevant mount points (such as /boot) and perform a chroot with
    arch-chroot
Revert the kbd package. The latest working version is 1.15.5-4. If you didn't clean your cache, you should have a working version under
    /var/cache/pacman/pkg
If not, either try finding the package manually, or build it using ABS.
Once the package is installed, confirm the keymap works by running loadkeys again and entering any keys that may have been problematic.
While still under chroot, rebuild the initramfs with
    mkinitcpio -p linux
If this goes without any problems, you should be able to reboot to a working system.
Ever since I updated my system about a week ago, I cannot boot it anymore.
The root filesystem encrypted and since the update, I can't unlock it on boot anymore. Typing in my passphrase, I get the error No key available with this passphrase.
One thing that comes to mind is that the passphrase contains non-standard characters (Š for example), and I'm not sure if that's what might be causing problems?
Any ideas or tips on how can I debug this?
Another thing I've noticed is that if I drop into a recovery shell, the special characters on my keyboard aren't properly mapped. Š will print out C and it's hexdump seems invalid.
    Edit:
    Just noticed this thread: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=148562
Will try to unlock it from a live distro. It doesn't seem to want to unlock with Arch live as the keymap seems wrong there as well.

  • Side Keys Broken

    Hi
I have a BlackBerry Curve 8520. My Side Keys (Camera and Volume Down) have broken. I can access the Camera through the Menu but how do I adjust the volume in music player or while talking on the phone?
From where can I get a new body frame for my device?
    Need Help.
    Thanks

I do not have an external keyboard...well I do, but I can't find it at the moment. So if there's any other way around it, that would be helpful

  • Volume Control Keys Not Working

I got a new MacBook Pro last week and i've noticed that the volume control keys on the keyboard are not working.  When I press any of the keys, the grey box that typically appears does show up, but the volume level indicator does not move and there is a small circle underneath with a line through it that shows up every time as well. The only thing that changes is the actual speaker icon, which will change from having a line through it to not having a line through it and vice versa. I've checked the setting for the F# keys, and this is not "checked" in the settings.  I'm not sure if this is something I can fix or if it is something I will have to go into the store to have checked out - suggestions?

I cant believe nobody has a fix on this!

Are you able to start up in Safe Mode?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1455?viewlocale=en_US
If this works you will see the normal desktop Once completely started up in Safe Mode, try to restart normally and go to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility. Click on the top hard drive icon in the left sidebar and note the S.M.A.R.T. status at the bottom right of the pane. What does it say?
Select the named boot volume in the left sidebar, ("Macintosh HD" unless it has been renamed). What is the hard drive capacity and how much space remains available on it? Repair permissions on it.
See if you are able to do a little hard drive maintenance to help things out.

  • Music Slider Key broken of my nokia 5610

The problem with my nokia 5610 is that i didnt drop the phone at all but its music slider key broken and its look so ugly without it, is there any possibility of replacing it? Anyone had similar problem as mine?? plz help!!

    Hi All,
Please note that i have the same issue, where in the slide is so delicate that whenever you put in you pocket or jacket & when you are taking it out, if a small thread gets stuck inside the music slide button, it will break, i am suprised with this fact as too why has nokia created a slide button with such low quality plastics, also this button would be the most used button of all & must have been the strongest of all, currently i am using the phone without the slide & trust me its not a pretty sight to see. I am not sure if prority centers in Bangalore, India have the part or if i have to spend a fortune to get it replaced, as i have heard nokia spares are one of the most expensive :-( as compared to the competition.
Does anyone agree with me? Request nokia support to check on this please respond.
