Hp folio 9470m video

I am having two video problems with my year old HP Folio 9470m running Windows 8.1.
1. On occasion, when I am using it a column of pixels about 1/2 inch from the left side of the screen seems to duplicate another column of pixels elsewhere on the screen.
2. Again on occasion, the random rows on the screen start to jitter from side to side about 10 pixels.
If anyone has any ideas, left me know.

Your Folio 9470m is a commercial product and to get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting in the commercial forums. Here is a link to the Commercial Notebook forum. That being said it does sound like a hardware issue you are experiencing. HP Folio 9470m USB 3 issues

My Folio 9470m does not reconise my Toshiba PA5128 16GB USB 3 drive on any USB port.
I have uninstalled all USB controllers and windows has reinstalled with no luck. Little blue light flashes for a couple of seconds when first plugged in then nothing. Device manager can see the device but says no driver is installed.
Have updated the USB 3 controller. No luck.
USB drive does work on other pc's
Ideas?

Then you need to use Toshiba's propietary utility to return the device to its default FAT32 state.
Otherwise, this is the end of the troubleshooting trail.
Your Folio's USB ports are OK.
That part number that you supplied is a no go. There are some that are close in number, but not quite.

Elitebook Folio 9470m - how to create recovery USB in preinstalled Win7?

Hi, this will be my first post here, so please be gentle
I have a new, pretty HP Elitebook Folio 9470m for testing - it came with preinstalled Windows 7 OS. I wanted to check some things, play around with it and as a cautious user I wanted to create a recovery media first. I have a 65GB flash drive which I've previously used as a recovery media for other notebooks and (as this model doesn't have a CD/DVD drive) I wanted to use it this time as well.
First I searched the web to find out how to create a recovery USB for this laptop but HP website gave me the info to use Recovery Manager which I don't have installed on this notebook - when I search for "recovery" I get something like "Create HP recovery CD". And when I try to use this I get an error regarding no writable media (even thou the flash drive is connected).
I stumbled upon a tip to F11 the laptop before boot, but I don't get the Recovery Manager either.
Should I download it and install from somewhere or is there another way to create the recovery stick for this notebook?

Windows 8 (64-bit) Recovery USB for Folio 9470m

Hi
I received a new HP Elitebook Folio 9470m with Windows 8 (64-bit) pre-installed recently.
I have a 13Gb HP_Recovery partition which has 2Gb of free space but I would rather that partition was better utilised for my data and documents.
Basically, I want to format the HP_Recovery partition so I can use the 13Gb, but before I do that I want to make sure I have an OS install image that I can use if necessary at a later date.
I have no HP Recovery Manager software installed and there isn't a version for Windows 8 that I could find\download. I couldn't find one for Windows 7 (64-bit) but I'm not even sure that that version would work?
I saw a suggestion that pressing F11 at boot will enter the HP Recovery tool but when I tried this nothing happened.
How can I create a USB Windows 8 (64-bit) install image?

Try with the basic driver with the following steps:
1. Download the next driver to the windows desktop >> ljP1000_P1500-HB-pnp-win64-en.exe [1/1, 3.54M]
2. Once downloaded in the desktop right click the driver file and select Properties.
3. Click on Compatibility tab.
4. Check the box where it says "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
5. In the dropdown option select "Windows 7"
6. And in Privilege Level check the box where it says "Run this program as an administrator"
7. Now click on Apply and OK buttons to close the Properties window.
8. Then start the instalation, double click the driver file "ljP1000_P1500-HB-pnp-win64-en"

HP EliteBook Folio 9470m Ultrabook - Flash Cache - Flash Cache

I'm trying to deploy Windows 7 x86 SP1 to an HP EliteBook Folio 9470m Ultrabook with Flash Cache.
I'm using MDT 2010 U1 and running the deployment from USB-media.
Reading the BDD.LOG I can see: "LTI applying image G:\Deploy\Operating Systems\W7 x86 Ent 007\7.wim using SETUP.EXE" and after 18 min "Setup completed successfully." and "LTIApply processing completed successfully." After LTICopyscripts, ZTIConfigure,
ZTIDrivers and ZTINextPhase the computer reboots and I'm getting "Windows boot manager 0xc000000f An error occured while attempting to read the boot configuration data".
When I'm looking at the Boot Config with BCDEDIT.EXE I can see boot manager points at the Flash Cache installed in the machine:

I've tried to read setupact.log but can't find whats going wrong.
How to handle computers with Flash Cache in deployment with MDT?

Machines with more than one physical disk are difficult to deploy to arbitrary disks using technologies like MDT and/or SCCM OSD.
By default you can configure MDT and/or OSD to deploy a task sequence to a specific disk index like Disk(0), but trying to add intelligence to change the target disk is non trivial.
For MDT litetouch you can write a script to change the target disk during the task sequence execution by modifying the OSDDiskIndex variable. So in this example, you could create a script to select the first disk that is larger than 50GB.
Otherwise you are left to deploy to the 1st disk enumerated by the system, which in this case can be the ssd cache disk.
I have written a utility to help modify the OSDDiskIndex using a script.

In the example above I would add the script just before the "format and partition" step in the TAsk sequence. Set a WMI condition for the model of the HP, then add the following to the CS.ini:

Cant seem to upload a folio with video in it

Hi
I have just updated my to the newest version of Folio Builder but since then I cant seem to upload
any folio with video in it . It just seems to takes hours and hours . The Video is only 400 meg so
I am right in thinking that its not too Big?
Also if I try and upload the folio for a local video , the upload prcoess gets stuck
saying uploading content 1 of 3 .
Any one got any ideas

400MB? That's a *huge* video. I would try re-encoding it to get it smaller.

HP Folio 9470m mSata as second storage

Hello,
mSata as second hard drive for HP Folio 9470m:
I currently have HP Folio 9470m that has 180GB SSD, there is an empty slot for mSata drive. I am running out of disk space, can I simply purchase mSata drive, install, and perhaps configure the BIOS to enable the second mSata drive functioning as second drive (mentioned in this Anantech article below)?

Folio 9470m ssd upgrade

Hi,
I have a Folio 9470m running windows 7 64bit.
I am aware this question has been answered previously on this forum, however im unsure of the specific things i need to do to upgrade my ssd hard drive and what i need to be looking at type-wise to purchase the upgraded one?
Basically i have a 128GB ssd, and i would like more storage space; i have a new laptop with the updates and office etc installed and would like to upgrade the drive to 256gb ssd or 480gb ssd (preferably 480gb).
so my questions are:
what do i need to do the "clone"?
and
what am i looking to actually purchase as a replacement?

Hi,
1. For the clone: cloning the whole existing SSD to new SSD is a very quick, safe and very simple task. You can use a commercial software to clone or use SSD vendor software to clone (if it came with the new SSD) or you can use free software:

2. My suggestion: use Device Manager to see the brand of the existing SSD and buy SAME brand.

Mobile broadband (un2430) not working with Windows 10 on Folio 9470m

I have had Windows 10 installed on my HP Folio 9470m since October last year (insider program). One thing that I never been able to get to work is the mobile broadband device (un2430). It simply says "Radio off". All attempts to re-install driver (which shows as "working"), disable/enable the device etc etc just leads to same result, that the "Radio is off".I googled this a couple of times and found that other users have the same problem. Also colleagues of mine with same model has also the same problem. It works just fine under Windows 8.1. Anyone has a workaround? I was really disappointed when W10 was released that HP did not update the drivers-page with W10 drivers:http://h20566.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=5271102 How can I find out when/if HP will release W10 drivers, including support for mobile broadband, for the HP Folio 9470m?

Thank you for your reply. I've tryed several SIM cards, and arrived to the conclusion that it doesn't work with portuguese operator TMN (all the SIM i've tried from TMN lead to the same result)!
I guess that there is some misconfiguration on WM config files. I found one xml with default configuration for worldwide carriers, and maybe it is possible to change some of those parameters to make it work... I just don't know wich one!
Maybe I'll have some luck, of someone reading this, and that is able to give me a tip to solve the problem.
The SIM card just work well on a 3G usb stick, or even in a celular phone!

Folio 9470m notebook with two monitors

Hi all, I want to use my Folio 9740m notebook with 3 independent display (Built-in display and two external monitor HP L1750). I tried to connect direct to notebook and docking station but it's not working. Only two displays are working at same time. Is it possible to use with 3 display (Intel HD graphics 4000 can do that)? I've not been able to get 3 indpendent monitors running either. I suspect it may have to do with the high resolutions of thw two monitors. Has anyone tried using lower resolution settings for three monitors (didn't work for me)? On another note, using the single displayport only allows for a "stretched" desktop environment. In order to get two independent desktops we had to use one monitor on the displayport in the back of the docking station of the 9470m and use the 2nd monitor on the side displayport which is attached to the laptop itself. This allows you to run two indendent desktops on each of the two monitors without having to get that "Daisy chained" effect where your desktop is just stretched (i.e. when you maximize a window it stretches across both monitors).
The Folio only supports Dual Displayport 1.2 technology which only allows the daisy chain monitors and doesn't support multiple independent desktops, thus your only option is to get one big wide desktop if you connect multiple monitors to a single displayport. I'd love to get a solution to allow me to use two monitors plus the built-in display! Any ideas??

SSD upgrade Folio 9470m ?

Hello i have a Elitebook 9470m ultrabook with a 500 gb mechanical hard drive and a 32 gb cache mSATA drive.
My ultrabook is still in waranty so my question is can i take it to an HP service to replace the mechanical HDD with an SSD or mSATA SSD ? if yes do i have to pay the full price of the new drive or can i get a discount from the original drive?
Or if i replace the HDD myself do i lose the warranty?
any advice would be appreciated !

Hard drives are user accessible meaning it does not void the warranty if you swap them out for something else. The HP Service Center is not really set up for upgrades; they are there to fix things that have broken. They do not have parts for upgrade....just to replace like kind broken parts and when they do sell you a part it is very expensive.
HP has not posted a Service Manual for the Ultrabook version of the 9470 Elitebook. This is the Manual for the regular 9470 Elitebook:

Look on Page 43. The hard drive compartment holds both a 2.5 mm 7 mm thick mechanical or SSD drive and also an mSATA drive. Does your Ultrabook look the same on the bottom?
What precisely do you wish to accomplish? I would advise against removing the 32 gig accelerator cache drive unless you want to install a 2.5 inch SSD. You do not want to have a 2.5 inch SSD and an mSATA mSSD drive in there at the same time. So if you can give us a little more idea what you are trying to do we can perhaps give you better advice. This has gotten somewhat complicated and it is not easy to configure the drives in these latest generation laptops particularly with Windows 8. You can easily get yourself into a no-boot situation.

Folio 9470m hotkeys

My Elitebook 9470m came downgraded with Windows 7 Pro. From there (out of the box) I upgraded to Windows 8 Pro, and then immediately installed the 8.1 update.
My hotkeys do not function. I have installed all HP drivers for this model yet I still have some unresolved devices in Device Manager. I'm trying to figure out what I have missed in order to resolve this and regain hotkey functionality.

The easiest way to locate the appropriate drivers will be by using the Hardware IDs. Here are the steps to locate the IDs.
Navigate to the Device Manager.
Expand the section containing the devices.
Right click on each device and select "Properties."
Navigate to the "Details" tab.
Select "Hardware IDs" from the drop-down menu.
Post these here.
