HP g42-478tx temperature goes high

hello
while playing games like world of padman,gta-san andreas on my hp g42-478tx , temperature hovers around 80-90 degrees, normal activity temperatures stay around 50-60 degrees.
also in linux (ubuntu) normal desktop usage the temperature of the cpu is around 60 degree
is the temperature too high??should i not game in these circumstances?? any possible suggestions please??what is the safe temperature range for this laptop??

I just took another look at the Intel website.
Tj (maximum temperature) for the Core i3-370M is 90C for rPGA and 105C for BGA type processor. You will need to run CPU-z to see which processor package your notebook has. My loaner dv7-4180ea notebook has the rPGA package.
Are you using CoreTemp to determine the temperature?

Temperature goes up with external monitor

Hi,
I'm using a 22" LCD monitor connected to my MacBook via DVI. And it's working pretty well. But the system temperature goes up whenever I plug in the monitor.
When I don't have the monitor connected the idle temperature is about 40-45 degrees celcius. When I connect the monitor it quickly goes up to 60-65 degrees celcius at idle.
This is pretty disturbing since the fan starts spinning loudly very easily.
And it doesn't matter if I turn off the MacBook display either. (by putting it to sleep and waking it up)
Is this really normal? Is this due to the weak graphics chip in the macbook? Doesn't seem reasonable that the difference would be 15-20 degrees.

Well. It bothers me a lot to have to put up with all this fan noise just because I plug in a second monitor. I use it all the time when I'm not on the road, so it's not just every now and then.
I guess I should buy an iMac or Mac mini. But having to sync the data all the time gets a bit tiresome.

No, this problem should be solved.
The MBP shuts down when too hot, to protect itself. First see if it is a process running astray: start Activity Monitor (in Applications/Utilities) choose <all processes> and click the %CPU column: are there processes that are using more than 50% cpu power? If yes click it and quit it, and tell us which one.

Dear concern,
after updating ios 7 in my iphone 4s i have faced heating problem in my phone. After ¾ min of use phone temperature become high… . So I want to downgrade in my previous version.
Is there any way to downgrade? Is there any chance that apple will release new update of IOS 7, which is compatible for iphone 4/4s.

Yes, I am using the charger that came with the phone. But it doesn’t get hot when it’s charging. It only gets hot at my work when the wifi is connected and mobile data is enabled, but it gets hot even though I am not using it. And it gets really hot – over 105 degrees within an hour or so. Nothing is apparently running. I had the same problem with another Droid Razr Maxx HD, and I brought it to a store and they didn’t do anything but they ordered me a new phone, and it is this new phone that is having the same issues. It must have something to do with some app or software running when it is connected to the wifi, even though I’m not getting pushes or syncing.

IPad Charger temperature goes too high

I bought iPad Mini with Retina display recently. I attached a charger properly. After some time when i touched the charger I found its temperature is too high. So I removed and checked USB side of the cable, its temperature was so high that I could not hold it for more than 4-5 seconds. Is there any problem with my charger or this happens with every charger? What should I do?

Possible sign of battery failure:
1. Very hot when charging
2. Not holding charge

MSI GTX560 Ti Hawk SLI Temperature too high

Hi,
Two days ago I bought a second GTX560-Ti hawk (Twin Frozr III) to run in SLi with my other (the exact same card). I noticed that the VRAM temperature of one of the cards (I'm guessing the top one, but I'm not 100% sure) got really high. It got to something like 90 degrees celcius. Core temperature was ok for both cards, a little bit higher than when running a single card but I suppose that is to be expected.
Also when I stopped doing anything when it got to that temperature I noticed that the VRAM temperature wasn't going down very fast.
I've tried both cards separately and didn't observe those temperatures so I'm guessing the cards are ok. It's only in SLi modes that these have issues. I was wondering if you guys could point me in the right direction as to fixing this problem, as right not I cannot play any games because I'm worried that the temperatures will become too high.
It's worth mentioning I have a MSI P67A-GD55 (B3) motherboard.

Actually I got a new case and put everything in and did as you said (switched the cards) and got no screen at all.
If I switch the cards to the original set up it works like I described before. I'm guessing the second card is faulty and I will RMA it.

HP G42 Fan Running in High Speed and Noisy

I had a HP G42 i5 notebook. Recently I send my notebook for repair due to the graphic card problem. I encountered that the fan speed is running in high speed mode after I the repair. I asked the incharge and he told me that they had did the cleaning on the notebook, so the fan will run in high speed and making noise. I did told that person, it was silence before repair and the fan will only run in high speed mode when the notebook's got heat up. But now it's got into the high speed mode even during startup time.
So I would like to get some advice or comment on this. Is it normal that the notebook's fan speed is running in high speed and noisy since startup? Thanks in advance.

I'm sorry for the delay in my reply, as I have been out of the office since last Thur. The instructions would have been the same for your notebook, but not the same BIOS.
This document will guide you through updating your BIOS if you wish. Since the noise is reduced once Windows begins, I would not worry too much about this.

U430p Touch temperature too high

Good morning everyone,
I have the Lenovo U430p Touch (Grey 59427963):
i7-4510U
NVIDIA Geforce GT 730M
8GB Ram
500GB + 8GB 5400 rpm
Since very young, I was always into gaming, being the clevo P370EM my previous "laptop". I've decided to go for a lighter smaller laptop and I chose the Lenovo U430.
I have this Lenovo laptop now, for the past 9 months. apart from the normal tasks (browsing, video chating, music videos, excel documents, image editing....) I play a few games as well (League of Legends, Path of Exile and Grid 2).
I haven't modified the laptop in any way. Everything is up to date - OS and drivers.
i like the games to run smooth so Im not even on high graphics, I reduced them to have more fps.
since the beggining the laptop allways worked fine, temperatures where never too high...
but for the past 1.... 2 months, I started noticing that it gets too hot in when playing, and even when im bworsing on youtube for example...
I was wondering that I should/could open the laptop to clean the dust (i've used the Dust Removal tool from lenovo Power management but it barely helps....) and also to renew the thermal paste.
However, I was not able to find much info on this.
The image below is from Notebookcheck, could you guys let me know wich one is the GPU and wich one is the CPU, and also:
does both the GPU and CPU use thermal paste? or is it only the GPU?
Would it be a good idea to renew the thermal paste? (I would take the laptop to any store capable of doing this)

First, I would recommend that you download HWMonitor which is a free utility that will report your system's temperatures. That way you will know if "hot" is really too hot. The download comes in two versions. The first will install on your computer. The second version is a Zip file that can be copied onto a flash drive and used as a portable application. Secondly, I would recommend that you blow out the cooling vents on your computer if you have never done so. Given the time in use, the environment in which you use you laptop, the heatsink and fan maybe covered in dust. Dust on the cooling fins will decrease the cooling efficiency and dust caked on the fan's blades with decrease performance. Can of compressed air are available at any computer or electronics stores. They maybe also found in the electronics section of big chain stores. Just use short bursts of compressed air in the exhaust and intake vents. Do this several times until you no longer notice dust being blown out. Avoid long blasts of air as that may damage the fan.
Thirdly, if you decide take the computer in to have the thermal paste renewed I would recommend finding an Lenovo Authorized Service Center since the laptop is still under warranty. The repair center will renew all the thermal paste under the CPU or GPU. You can find an authorize center by using the link below. Select your country, enter in your city and check the back box for Warranty Service Provider. Here is that link......

i have P4 2.8Ghz 0.09 Micron on an 875 NEO - FIS2R Board , and my CPU is runing on 61 on low up to 82-85 on "burn" when it shut's down the temp in the case is 32 on low - 35 on "BURN" , the case is CodeGen 9011 with 3 fans + additional 2 fans / 1*8cm + 1*12cm/ + fan under the HDD , the cpu is BOX version , it is in the original intel package with the heatsink and fan ... what can caouse such high temp. Please help

Ok first of all there is no northbridge temp sensor. So ignore that reading it is just a floating voltage that is taken as a temperature. Your NB will be fine as many and I mean many ppl have posted saying there NB temp is in that region and none have died.
Secondly I agree with Ruckus buy a new heatsink I suggest the Zalman CNPS7000-A Al/CU (Aluminium and copper version as lower weight.)
But if your CPU is a Prescott which I think it might be then go with the all copper version.
But before you upgrade your heatsink maybe just reseat your current intel cooler because i might be on wrong. Secondly maybe upgrade the bios to a newer version to rule out a bios issue with the temp.
Those are my suggestions. Wait for other ppls suggestions before you take action.

Is 95C CPU temperature too high?

I have Intel Core 2 Duo iMac. When I use QuickTime or any other video converting software to convert video for my iPhone CPU temperature hits 95C mark. Is it too high? Should I do something about it. If yes what should I do? It is the only situation when CPU temp is so high usually it is not higher then 70C when loaded.

thats normal that the CPU of an mobile system gets hotter, I mean your much more near the CPU then by an desktop. Thats normal that you could think the CPU gets too hot.
I have an Satellite X200 (Gamer machine) and the thing gets really hot, but thats normal since a powerful CPU is in there.
If I were you I wouldnt make any doubt about it and if youre unsure just ask some of your friends which owns a notebook. Usually they would say "yes, mine gets hot, too.."
The 100 degree means that the CPU can become such hot till it reaches 100 degree and then the machine shuts down to prevent to some damage on the CPU.
So in this case the 70 degree are okay. You (can by the way) prevent overheating when you clean your machine regurarely simply by blasting some compressed air gently through the ventilation holes of the CPU cooling system. If not then the cooling modules will be clogged from dust and start to overheat...

Yes, would be on the low side °F, it's about that when I first wake mine up (although I use °C as well).
Ok, it may be due to a background process that is running a high percentage of CPU activity. Check Utilities > Activity Monitor > CPU tab, set the pop-up menu to Active Processes, click on the CPU column to sort, and see if anything is using a high amount of CPU capacity. Stuck print jobs, some widgets, etc., can do this.
