HP G56 Notebook Prod id XG773UA#ABA

Replaced hdd with new WD hdd , larger size than original, ran recovery disks, all appeared to be going successfully..but would not boot up in Windows. Ran all kinds of diagonostic tests....eventually got dialog saying...."Recovery manager could not restore your computer using the factory image. Please contact HP support." Error Code: 0xe0e0ef000e. Tried all options repeatedly. Does this error code tell anything? Thanks for assistance. AJL

Hi,
This sounds like a problem with the Recovery Discs - so you could try ordering a replacement set from HP Here.
However, there is an easy work around to avoid this if you have ( or can borrow ) a retail Windows 7 installation disc that is exactly the same version as your OEM installation - ie if your notebook came with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit this is the exact retail version you would need.
Use the disc to perform the installation, enter the Windows activation key found on the underside of your notebook when requested and when the installation has completed, use the 'Phone Method' detailed in the link below to activate the OS - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who just want a clean installation of Windows 7 without the additional software load normally bundled with OEM installations.

Any additional drivers you may need can be found Here.

Coulo this be a BIOS battery issue? Please help. Thank you. AJL

Several things can cause the bios to fail recognize the hard dirive.
    0. Try loading bios defaults, save changes on exit of bios, see iff the error persists.
    1. Bad hard drive (try another hard drive)
    2. Bad hard drive data cable (replace cable)

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp54001-54500/sp54123.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, restart the notebook and let Windows fully load.  Open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.
If you still have no audio, open windows Control Panel, open Administrative Tools and open Services.  Check that the following services are all showing as Status= Started and Start-up Type= Automatic
    Audio Service
    Multimedia Class Scheduler
    Windows Audio
    Windows Audio Endpoint Builder
If you need to make a change to any of the above, just right click the service and select Properties, then in the dropdown box next to 'Start-up type',  select Automatic and click Apply to save the change.  Then click the Start button.

  • Is hdmi in hp g56 notebook pc windows 7 home premium

i am trying to connect hp g56 notebook pc home premium to tv but it is no working is hdmi in this pc

Your computer only has a VGA port.  Even trying using a VGA to HDMI cable may not work either as in some cases you probably would need a converter to convert the analog signal to digital.
Have you tried VGA to VGA on the TV if it supports it?

  • Connected hp g56 notebook to toshiba regza tv but no sound..please help! : )

Hi, I'm trying to connect my g56 notebook to my tosiba regza tv.
I have managed to get the picture fine using a vga cable but with no sound. After a bit of research and asking questions i was told to get a jack to rca (red and white) cable , connect the jack to my headphone port on the laptop and the rca to the corresponding ports on the tv. Did this and there's still no sound coming out of the tv!
Do i need to download a special driver or something to make the sound come out of the tv or is it better to go buy an hdmi cable?
Any advice would really be appreciated!!

    Hi,
A VGA output is only capable of carrying a video signal - I would strongly suggest what you mention yourself and get an HDMI cable to connect to your TV.  There's no need to buy a top end cable, just a stanadard HDMI cable is fine - I've never found any difference in the output quality.

  • HP2000 Notebook PC, model #E0M17UA#ABA CPU replacement

Simple question, I am wondering if HP2000 Notebook PC, model #E0M17UA#ABA with an AMD processor is soldered to the board or if it is replaceable and if so which part number or catalog can I use to locate a replacement. the 1.3ghz processor is not enough for my wife and I'd like to replace it with 2.3 or something similar.
    This question was solved.

No since it is AMD to AMD you should be able to boot the new motherboard off the old hard drive. If it is Windows 8 it will not even make you reauthenticate Windows. The Key Code is stored in the BIOS.

  • G56 notebook

I have 2 G56 notebooks, 1 works perfectly fine the other willonly run if conected to mains and has the BSOD, i have run thriugh all the tests on-board and can find no fault there, they have both had windows 7 removed and XP installed can anyone offer any advice, thanks, Bruce

I would try to run the problem machine with the battery out and see if that helps.  I would switch batteries and see if the problem goes with the battery.  I would try only one piece of memory in the bad machine at a time and try both slots.

  • G56 Notebook cooling fan

    Hello,
    My daughter has a G56 - 106EA Notebook.
The cpu cooling fan ran for some time very noisily and then stopped working.
I bought and fitted a new fan and turned the laptop on and the fan starts and then falters to a stop.
I have checked both fans and they do run when connected to a battery.
SpeedFan software shows the fan has zero rpm.
I re-installed BIOS F.18 as it was suggested this could solve the problem, but it didn't.
    Is this a motherboard problem?

    Hello again stylova,
To find out how a cooling fan works, I recommend following this document on How Does a Laptop Cooling Fan Work? This should help illustrate it's function and basic maintenance.
Since the Battery Test produced a "not installed" result, I recommend contacting our technical support at 1-800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region please click the link below to get the support number for your region.

  • Touch Pad intermittent, HP G56 Notebook PC, Windows 7

    Hi,
once in a while the touch pad locks/freezes. More often than not this is whilst using the notebook from battery power, rather than mains power. If I close the screen, and reopen, it's all OK.
     Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Rick

    Hi Rick,
First, download the latest Synaptics driver installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp50501-51000/sp50718.exe
Next, open windows Control Panel, open Programs and Features, right click the entry 'Synaptics Pointing Device Driver' and select Uninstall.
When this has completed, restart the notebook.
When windows has fully reloaded, open your Downloads folder, right click the Synaptics installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, restart the notebook again.

  • - HP G56 Notebook PC

I do not have a recovery cd  my system is not rebooting,  How can I reboot my laptop

    Hi:
If you can read the full 25 character Windows 7 product key on the bottom of your notebook then you can make your own windows 7 installation disk.
If you can read the 25 character Microsoft windows 7 product key, you can download plain Windows 7 ISO files to burn to a DVD for the version of windows that came installed on your PC, and that is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC's case.
Burn the ISO using the Burn ISO option on your DVD burning program and burn at the slowest possible speed your program will allow. This will create a bootable DVD.
Use the 25 character product key on the PC to activate the installation.
The key will activate either a 32 or 64 bit installation.
Then go to the PC's support and driver page to install the drivers you need.
Link to the W7 ISO file downloads is below.

    Hi,
See the maintenance and service guide for your laptop: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01758220.pdf
There are listed all compatible hard drive (size and rpm). You can buy a 500GB 5400rpm hard drive as a replacement. I recommend Western Digital hard drives: http://www.amazon.com/Western-Digital-Scorpio-Drive-WD5000BEVT/dp/B001JSSDGU/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8...
I have got this hard drive as a replacement for my old damaged so it should work..

  • Hp pavilion g7- 1338dx notebook pc after recovery bootmgr is missing when i started it

i have a refurbished hp pavilion g7-1338dx notebook pc with #a6z27uar#aba with windows7 home premium 64 bit. i did a factory recovery from a disc that i bought on hp because i  whenever i rcover it from my harddrive i got error thats why i bought a recovery disc.anyway after recovery when i turn it on i got bsod memory management so i had to shut it down , i tried turning it on again but now its says bootmgr is missing  press ctrl+alt+delete to restart , i did same thing . i tried using repair disc, memory test passed, hardware test passed. everytime i turn it on its says boot mgr ,need help

    Hello @pac-man ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand after running a system recovery from the recovery media you are unable to boot the PC, and get a BOOTMGR missing error.
Take a look through this guide for BOOTMGR troubleshooting: How To Fix BOOTMGR is Missing Errors. The guide contains all of the steps to take and describes how to do each of them in a manner that any level user can understand.
If none of that works, you will need to obtain a copy of the Windows installation and run your installer. Once installed it will add a new BOOTMGR and allow you to re-run the recovery to restore your pre-installed software. The only other option would be to contact HP Phone Support for service options. You can contact HP Technical Support at 1-800-474-6836 in North America. For all other regions click here.
