The message means that your internal hard has been damaged. This message always comes up when the file system is corrupted. I suggest to remove it, connect the hard drive into a different computer as an external drive (use usb caddy), perform a backup if possible and the format the hard drive and restore the factory settings. I'm afraid that you have to reformat the hard drive, a checkdisk scan won't help..
The error message means that the Boot Sector is corrupt or has been damaged. It does not mean that the hard disk is damaged.
This is a fixable issue. There are a few command line tools that can be used.
You will  need to make an appropriate version (32-bit / 64-bit) of the Windows 7 repair disc from a working Windows 7 installation. You will need either a USB or CD to create your rapair CD/USB. Follow the instructions on this video to create the repair installation of your choice..You will will be using the manual boot sector repair that is described in this video to repair your Windows 7 Boot sector.  Use the Windows 7 repair disc or repair USB thumb drive that you created earlier to accomplish the repair.

A System Recovery is a useful tool to return your Windows 8 tablet back to factory defaults. However, what do you do when the System Recovery isn't working!?
A full System Recovery can be a lengthy process as there is a lot of data being transferred. Patience is the key, as a full Recovery can take two to four hours to complete.
For more information check out HP's Troubleshooting HP System Recovery Problems for Windows 8. This document will help you get your Windows 8 tablet back up and running.
TIP: If you are planning on using the System Recovery make sure that you do not change or delete the HP Recovery Partition as that will make all but impossible to Restore your tablet using the HP Recovery Manager.

Assuming it is in one piece and otherwise meets the conditions for an Out of Warranty replacement, yes.
    Conditions are:
Certain damage is ineligible for out-of-warranty service, including catastrophic damage, such as the device separating into multiple pieces, and inoperability caused by unauthorized modifications.  However, an iPhone that has failed due to contact with liquid may be eligible for out-of-warranty service.

  • I can't accessed system recovery options after the repairing process was interrupted.

although it's not my PC, i'm still concern about it (it's actually a public computer in our library). I actually tried to repair it using the system recovery options of windows 7 with thinkvantage technoliogies  but i interrupt it because maybe someone will caught me and i will be mistakenly be liable. and the result is after i restared it, it restarts over and over again, with BSOD appearing for a split second. i tried to use disable autorestart on system failure feature, and i saw the BSOD. but the real issue is i can't go through the recovery options, only until the part when i'm asked to select a keyboard input method, then the next part is this message: "You must log in to access System Recovery Options. If you are having trouble logging in, please contact your computer administrator for assistance. Click OK to restart the computer." anyway, this is the BSOD says:
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
Disable or uninstall any anti-virus disk defragmentation  or backup utilities. Check your hard drive configuration, and check for any updated drivers. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.

  • System Recovery Problem - Compaq Presario F767NR model

I've just installed a brand-new hard drive in my laptop, which I got in the mail today from HP. However, when I press the F11 button to start system recovery, nothing happens. It takes me nowhere. The screen is black, except for an "Operating System Not Found" message.
I've put in the first disk of my two-part recovery disk process in the DVD drive. Nothing comes up saying that the recovery process has even started. My DVD drive was working fine before my laptop crashed, so why isn't my system recovery doing anything?! I checked the "troubleshooting" section of the HP website, but there was no Q&A part for what is happening to me. Help! Thank you.

  • System Recovery Problem

    I have a HP Mini 210-1091NR
Windows 7 Starter is not booting so if i press ESC when starting up it takes me to the startup menu where is give me a list of choices.
    F1 System info
    F2 Ststem diagnostics
    F9 Boot device options
    F10 BIOS setup
    F11 System recovery
so when i press F11 all it give me is a black screen with an white underscore ( _ ) blinking.
HELP how do i restore my computer?? I have no other backups or a cd rom drive.
    thank you

Well you aren't the only one this has happened to. If your Master Boot Record is trashed then you will not boot to Windows 7 or F11 recovery. HP does not provide a boot recovery disk. If you did not make a recovery DVD then you must order a reinstall set of disks from HP.  If you have critical data which you need HP solution will only reformat the disk and restore to factory condition. Isn't that sweet. Well this was my situation and here is what I did to at least get my data files. My system would go through the BIOS then Blue screen with STOP 7B followed by a blank screen blinking cursor in upper left corner.
    1) Run diagnostics and check the HD and memory
    2) search the internet for a turrent Windows 7 recovery. Download and make a bootable disk from the ISO image file (must be a DVD- disk)
    3) Boot using the recovery image DVD
3a) open a command prompt and run BOOTREC /FixMbr
Now see if you can F11 to the recovery partition.
3b) one of the options is to backup your data, backup your data files now!
    4) Next open a command prompt in recovery manager and run SFC /SCANNOW
If this doesn't not find the problem then you have to proceed to the next step.
    5)  Now here is the rub. Now that you have a backup, rebuild the system using your recovery partition. Oh yes this takes a while.
    6) After rebuild insert the backup disks and use the application on the disk to restore the data. It will create a folder on the system and restore the users folders under it. You must copy the sub-folders to the original locations. Note this can only get your data back, you must reinstall all your applications. Isn't that lovely.
Manufacturers like HP and Dell drop the ball on doing anything but telling you can only rebuild the system by reformatting the drive and reinstall the OS to factory condition. I  hope my solution eases the pain and helps given the research I had to do.

I understand that you made an error that caused your desktop to crash.  You tried to do a recovery but it did not work.
You are missing your account login screen to sign in with a password.
When I checked the specifications for your notebook I see it came with Free Dos. HP Pavilion Sleekbook 14-b009au Product Specifications.
Is this correct or was Windows 8 installed when you purchased it?
If that is correct it will not have a recovery manager to access.  If you installed from a Windows disk you will need to boot to the disk and do Windows repair.
Here is are two links from  Windows Microsoft  that should help you.
Start your computer in safe mode.
How to refresh, reset, or restore your PC .
    Good Luck!
If the notebook did come with Windows 8 installed did you create recovery CD/DVDS when you first setup the notebook?

  • Time to time problems after removing unblockus service (DNS)

I have a router from my operator and an Airport Extreme.
After removing the unblockus(.com) DNS service (by simply deleting the DNS settings they provided), I now have problems with my router and Internet connections (Airport Extreme probably).
I have tried resetting the AE.
But I still get errors when trying to reconnect my e-mail accounts in Mail (Error message: Too many simultaneous connections. (Failure).)
And some web sites won't open, or they only appear as plain HTML text (not code).
My settings on the AE are:
    Internet:
    Connected with: DHCP
    DNS: 192.168.1.1
    Network:
    Route mode: Bridge mode off
(Sorry, my settings are in Norwegian so I had to try to translate directly).
Is there a standard setting I can use?
Btw, I have 2 external drives connected to the Airport Extreme. The communication to them are ok throughout the network.
The strange thing about these problems is that the router/network works great after I have reset the router. But after weeks(?) the trouble is back again.
    Any clue?

The fact you used unblockus at some point is really not relevant to your current problem. I think you are confusing things.
I need to work on the current setup of the network.
So I need to have full data about the TC. I need to have the mode it is working in.. and I want to see the IP gateway and dns settings it is running.. please do a screenshot again which shows that info.
Really good if you give me the summary tab like you did above.. and then click the edit and give me the internet tab.. plus network tab.
Particularly I need to see any errors the AE is showing.. eg double NAT.. double NAT will cause the problem you have now. The AE must be in bridge when plugged into a router.
And I need to see your computer network info that is having trouble.
So I want to see its IP address, gateway (apple call it router) and DNS values.
So here is mine.. nothing here is of security concern btw.
Please also your DNS page so I can see what the dns values are.
Also please open a teminal session and do a traceroute to the google dns, 8.8.8.8
Do a copy and paste of those values here as well.
    So
    $ traceroute 8.8.8.8
traceroute to 8.8.8.8 (8.8.8.8), 64 hops max, 52 byte packets
    1  192.168.2.254 (192.168.2.254)  1.595 ms  4.595 ms  1.659 ms

    3  te0-0-0-306.core0.mel02.eftel.com (203.123.72.65)  25.709 ms  25.661 ms  25.465 ms

    5  eth2-1.bdr01.syd02.eftel.com (202.62.143.121)  35.613 ms  35.383 ms  47.953 ms
    6  as15169.ve223-vpls138.bdr01.syd02.eftel.com (202.62.154.118)  36.738 ms  38.999 ms  36.951 ms
    7  72.14.237.21 (72.14.237.21)  37.300 ms  35.993 ms  36.892 ms
    8  google-public-dns-a.google.com (8.8.8.8)  36.557 ms  38.183 ms  36.334 ms
Again there is nothing here that is security concern.. you can see my router IP and that is all, and it is completely useless. The actual trace is going to be completely different at your end.. but it allows me to see if you have double NAT issues still.
One other thing you can do.. on a computer that is having trouble.. manually change the dns to 8.8.8.8 in the network preferences.. if that fixes it please tell me.
Finally remove the AE completely and see if the computer works ok plugged directly into the ISP modem / router.
(Sometimes I write TC ie time capsule instead of AE.. treat them as the same thing.. I am running both and use interchangeably.

  • Macbook pro (early 2011) won't boot after sleep. Black screen with chime

I put my macbook pro early 2011 (Quad, 8 Gb RAM, 2 x SSD-disks, external 27" LED-screen) into sleep mode a couple of days ago. Everything was fine then.
However, the morning after it wouldn't wake up - this is the bootup process:
    - Black screen
    - Chime
    - Still black screen, nothing happens.
So I've tried resetting NVRAM, SMC etc - no luck. Even tried the "Powerbutton" + "S" + Enter but to no avail. So I immediately began dd:ing my SSD-disk before trying anything else, figured it might be some preboot-corruption of some sort since I'm running FileVault2 with full AES-encryption.
Now, the problem (after some troubleshooting) doesn't seem to be disk-oriented. Remember the black screen? I've tried pulling the SATA-cables one by one on the motherboard of the Macbook pro and discovered that when I pulled the cable which reaches over the optical device (just above the SATA-cable for the optical device) then I get a white screen and I'm able to get as far as boot-option, or even disk repair (if I run my SSD-disk over USB and without any cables (three of them) attacked to the motherboard).
So since nothing works when I have disks connected or that third cable (some kind of logic board bridge? Reaches through the screen over to the other side of the mother board).
Also worth noting is that I was running out of free disk-space on my system disk. The disk is 250 Gb and free space was about 5-10 Gb (less than 5%). I also make the macbook pro dump contents of memory to disk (since my disk is encrypted it resides safely there).
So, my fear is that Apple hasn't used A-grade controllers for the disk drives (I've had drive corruption before, a Crucial 6 GB/s drive trashed less than a week before a presentation) and doesn't handle "unexpected events" nor signal/noise ratio very well. Maybe free space on disk was less than the 8 Gb needed to dump RAM (shouldn't have needed the full 8 Gb though) and this caused some kind of panic overwrite which trashed the controller?
Anyways, I've attached an image of the motherboard and I am wondering - what does the top cable which reaches over the optical drive do? Is it connected to the logic-board?

    sspott wrote:
** The volume Macintosh HD could not be repaired.
Looks to me like a fatal error on the hard disk. IMHO, the only solution is to boot from an external device, reformat the hard drive, and restore from backup. If you don't have a backup, you're in trouble. Boot from the external device, try to mount the int'l drive, and, if successful, back up as much as possible. Also, try running Disk Utility—it may be possible to fix it while booted from a different device, thought I wouldn't bank on it. At any rate, make sure to run an AHT afterwards, to check for possible hardware issues with the drive.
If the machine is still covered by AppleCare, take it to the store by all means. But they won't try to recover anything from the int'l drive, just check it, erase it if they don't find hardware issues, and re-install a fresh copy of the OS.
That's why you should always have at least 1 up-to-date backup (2, with one kept off-site, is better).

  • Windows 8.1 doesn't start after update. BLACK SCREEN AFTER LOGIN

Before all, sorry my english, I'm brazilian and don't found the solution on the brazilian version of HP website.
After I did the updates, the system ask to restart the notebook, so I did it. And now, when I do the login, after the password page, the Windows doesn't starts. Just a Black Screen appears.
I can't open the right side window to acces the configurations, and this laptop doesn't have a battery to take out and put in again.
I had already restore the system.
So, I use my laptop to work, and it has only 4 days of use.
     I need help! Thanks!

    Hi,
    Run through the following procedure.
Boot the computer normally and log-in.
At the black screen, hold down the ctrl and alt keys and press delete.
    Select Task Manager.
Click on File and select Run new task.
Type cmd.exe - also enter a tick in the box for 'Create this task with administrative privileges' - and click Ok.
Type in the following command ( including spaces ) and hit enter.
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
This will take a while to complete, but when it’s finished, restart the notebook.
If the screen is still black after you log-in, once again, hold down the ctrl and alt keys and press delete.
    Select Task Manager.
Click on File and select Run new task.
Type cmd.exe - also enter a tick in the box for 'Create this task with administrative privileges' - and click Ok.
Type in the following command ( there's a space between sfc and the / ) and hit enter.
    Sfc /scannow
When the scan has finished, check that the result is ‘No integrity violations’, then type exit and hit enter.
    Restart the notebook again.
    Any change?

  • Very weird problem - not your average black screen

So, I finally broke down and decided to ask for help on this. I have a good amount of experience and have not been able to get this to work consistently. The laptop is admittedly pretty beat up, but it works without a hitch once it's booted. It seems like complete luck getting it to work as if it starts up when it's done frustrating me. I need it as a node for an Adhoc project and it would be great if it could work normally again.
    Laptop:
Toshiba M305 w/ Turion x2 and Radeon graphics.
I don't think it makes a difference but I'm running Debian on it with an SSD. I've also replaced the original keyboard. The problem started months after these changes after the laptop took a hit off the bed (carpet). I get a black screen as soon as I turn it on after shutting it down. The screen won't turn on but I hear the DVD drive make its normal noise and the fan spins. If I'm persistent enough with a combination of below tactics or just plain luck it will start back up and work perfect.
What I've tried to no avail:
-removing the battery and the power and holding down the power to drain the capacitors
-taking out one of both memory modules (i think it does the POST because it beeps when there's no memory)
    -removing the hard drive
Things I don't think it is and why:
-don't think it's the screen because when it works it lights up fine, also it has the same issue when plugged into a vga display
-don't think it's the hard drive nor the memory as it has the same problem with either off
I'm inclined to think it's a MoBo problem? But then why would it work perfectly fine when it feels like it... I would think nothing is fried. The next thing I was going to try is removing the CMOS battery to reset the BIOS settings and while it's open check for loose connectors I guess.
Any help is truly appreciated! Let me know if there's any other info I can provide. Thanks.

^ There is a mention in there of a problem with faulty switch or something, related to whether or not the machine can tell the lid is open.   If it works sometimes, that plus it was jolted in a fall might say loose connection someplace.

  • Adobe Flash Player don't show videos on YouTube after some point - Black Screen only

Hello. I have a problem with Flash Player on YouTube. It has crashed many, many times so I decided to open this thread for let you know about it if you don't know already.
Now, I've got no crash reports or anything but it crashes after some point. Even if it doesn't give me crash report, I understand it because YouTube videos don't run and I got only black screen. When I tried to close (click "X" at right above) Firefox, it denies to close with some click sounds. I can only close with combination of CTRL+ALT+DELETE and terminate process. After I closed Firefox and open new page, it works fine until I get the same situation.
By the way, I have laptop with these specs:
    Intel Core i5 3210m
AMD Radeon 7670m + Intel HD 4000 ( with AMD Switchable Graphics called Enduro )
    8 GB Ram
    Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
I don't know what problem is causing it so I couldn't give you much information. But if you need any information, I'll try to help. Thanks in advance.
P.S: I'm sorry for the bad English.

Thanks for your reply. I totally forgot the topic, sorry.
I've solved the issue, just disabled hardware acceleration feature from Preferences menu and everything is working well now.
