• Audio has ceased when at Amazon and with e-mails with audio attachments. This only during last few days previously O.K. Windows Media Player still working so no problem with speakers only happens with online audio. John

Operating system Windows 7. A few days ago no problems with audio, clear sound when listening to e-mail audio attachments and Amazon music samplers. During last 2/3 days both attachments and samplers fail to work, but when playing music from library held in Windows Media Player no problems. This would appear to show no problem with speakers etc and I have not knowingly amended any audio controls.

Thank you so much for replying.
Yes I have removed and reinstalled WMP.
I had good results with the PD6 application installed on the default path onto the C: drive with the one exception that if the application was launched by accident and the user data path was not available, the PD6 application would blow away my custom user path registry settings. Now that I know what they are I have made a .reg file to repair my registry to my desired user data paths.
Installing the application on the removable drive appeared to help prevent me from launching the application by accident and overwriting my registry with default user paths.
So which is the less of the two evils?
If the application directory is not available, windows media player still tries to launch the .msi for installing PD6.
If I install the application to the C: drive but the user data to the removable drive, launching the PD6 application without the user data drive will still corrupt my registry settings for a user data path.
Both these issues seem like a logical (if not easy) fix that should be done in the PD6 application and installation package. I mean really, cannot anyone tell me why windows media player is checking the PD6 application directory? Why in PD4 did we have an option control for setting the user data path from the PD4 application? Why is this option not in the PD6 application, just the installer?
I am given a choice during installation to move the user data to another non default location. Why else would this be provided if not to accommodate my kind of request to store the user data into an alternate location other than “My Document”. Certainly Palm is not trying to force the users on how to protect and store their personal data?

• Problems with special characters like "u00F6" "u00E4" "u00FC"

Hi,
we currently face some major problems with special characters like "ö" "ä" "ü". First I thought it is a SP02 specific problem but it still doesn't work with SP03.
When I start an import the import manager shows correct converted value. "ö"s "ä"s "ü"s are displayed correctly. But after I've done the import I look into the Data manager and I see instead of these characters charcaters like "̈". (note: the character should show a little square box - but the forum cannot desplay it)
How can I solve this problem?
Regards
Nico

Hi Nico
Just try it out the following steps, hope it solves ur issue.
To set one or more values back to their original values:
1. In the Import Manager Source Values grid, select the values that you want to set back to their original values.
2. Right-click on one of the values and choose Set to Original Value from the context menu, or choose Values > Apply Value Conversion Filter > Set to Original Value from the main menu.
3. MDME sets each value back to its original value, which appears in black in the Source Values grid.
NOTE : You can use the Set to Original Value filter only at the value-level and not at the field level.
thanks

• Problem with speakers/headset working together

I'm trying to set it up so all my sound comes through the speakers except for Ventrilo, which would come through the headset. The mic on the headset is working fine, and there are no problems with the speakers at all. The only problem is getting only Ventrilo to come through on the headset.

Hi,
Try the following.
Download the Conexant HD Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp45001-45500/sp45166.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers. Right click the Conexant device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery. Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds. Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu. Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter. Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete. Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the Conexant installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation. When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices. Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.

• Problems with speakers shutting down

I have a gigaworks pro 5.1 surround sound system I've had it for about 2 years now and i'm starting to have this problem with my speakers shutting down even though there is power running to the system I can hear a sencer click when the system shuts down when I try to start it by pressing the on button or flip the switch on the back of the system the system will not start I have to unplug the hole system and plug it back in to start the system and then the system will work for a few minutes and shut down again I was wondering if anyone has had the same problem and if so how did they fix it

Hi faizraja,
Thank you for your query, I will do my best to assist you.
I grasp that it will not shutdown from the menu options and the speakers don't work most of the time.
I would try a Refresh Your PC to Resolve Problems (Windows 8). Just to be on the safe side, I suggest backing up your personal files to prevent loss.
Here is a link to No Sound from Speakers (Windows 8) to assist with the speaker issue. Are you accidentally muting your system? Here is a link to HP Pavilion g6 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide, please not page 12 item 3 for this option.
If this has not helped, I suggest you do a recovery back to factory. Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 8).
You will receive a prompt to backup your personal data to prevent loss. If you have not done one recently, I suggest you do one now.

• Problems with Speakers

Hi,
I've had my Airport Express for a couple of years all has been fine until now, I've not used it for a while and wanted to get back to streaming my music into my study.
The unit joins my network without any problem, iTunes allows me to select the Airport Speakers however when I select Play from iTunes I get this error "An error occurred while connecting to the remote speaker "RemoteRoom" An unknown error occured -3256"
I've tried from my iMac and my laptop, both have the same problem, the speakers are also working fine. I am stumped, multiple restarts later I hoped somebody has an idea what this error is and how I can get around it?

I'm having the same issue David,
everything was fine until I updated my iTunes to 8.01. giving me the same 'unknown error -3256' when I try to connect Airport Express with iTunes 8.01. This is troubling since it still works with my other computer which is running iTunes 7.0.
Guesses anyone? I'll post any finding I come up with, please anyone else do the same.
Thx

• ITunes problem with speakers

This only started recently, but when I play music on iTunes, it starts off fine but every once in a while, sound will stop coming from one speaker (or sometimes both). I thought it was a problem with my speakers at first, but then I realized that pausing and resuming the song would fix the problem. So I tried playing songs with other programs and tried the audio on websites and they work fine. Not too sure what the problem is.

Some have posted issues using the Apple TV with extended networks.
Is it possible that it is some sort of interference to your network that is causing problems rather than distance. Have you tried using a different wifi channel.

• Strange Problem with Speakers/sound

Hi,
I have a Powerbook Ti DVI 1 Ghz and have been experiencing a strange and inconsistent problem. Sometimes, the sound "blows out" as though it is too loud and works in the two highest system volume notches. Whenever I press the volume button onto lower settings the speakers give me a muffled sound when I press it and do not give out sound.
I've tried the system prefs and everything is as it should be. This problem is sometimes caused by putting in my headphones. Sometimes restarting the computer fixes the problem, but it is all very strange to foresee.
Has anyone experienced anything of this sort? Any advice appreciated.
Thanks,
M

Hi roibs,
> It disturbs me a lot because my computer is making sounds while I am in classes (from apps running\web sites etc.). I almost got kicked out of class several times because of it.
Maybe you should leave your computer at home and not play with it in your class ;)
Anyway, I would recommend disabling all Windows sounds in control panel. That means no sounds will be played while you navigate through the Internet or use the Explorer.

• Nano problems with Alarm clocks(lik e Luna or others)

I have a new nano 4gb, and an Xtrememac Luna... My old ipod 2nd gen worked perfecly, the new nano has problems instead.. When my alarm function lit the ipod, it does not play the song, but remain in pause... The nano wakes up, but old nano started to play the song, this stands in pause. Why this? Can I hope in a fix or something? many people have this problem...
Possible solutions?
thanks in advance

Since there was no reply from Apple so far I called their service today.
The claimed that this problem was not known with the devices which they are selling and that they can't tell about 3rd party alarm clocks.
Big news! Who would have thought of that answer?
Well I then called the manufacturer of my alarm clock which is called "auvisio", one of these cheap copies. They knew about the problem with the nano 3G on thier device and said that they can't offer a solution so far. They offered RMA which I would say is quite nice of them but it doesn't help me much with my wake-up-problem in the morning.
I already settled with the thought that I would have to buy the more expensive Apple stuff but as I read above even Bose seems to have the problem. Complete confusion.
Hopefully firmware 1.0.3 will be released soon and can finally solve these problems. Release 1.0.2 definitely was a step into the opposite direction...

• HP Pavilion dv6-3145dx Notebook-Problem with keyboard

My HP Pavilion dv6-3145dx Entertainment Notebook PC's keyboard is not working properly. After my laptop has been running for a couple of hours, the keyboard starts typing all kinds of letters, numbers and printing prompts on its own. I spoke with a tech support person at a local retailer and they believe that there is a "short" in the keyboard and/or cable. I have been using an external keyboard as a work around, but an external keyboard is cumbersome for traveling. Unfortunately the laptop is out of warranty by about a month. Also, this problem started right after I purchased a 4MB RAM upgrade from HP.... don't know if there is any connection??? Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

• Problem with speakers or is it normal?

First off, this is my first time buying a Sony smartphone and I love it; it replaced my old Prism II and Sony Walkman NWZ-E465.
After using it for about a week, I realized something odd. The speakers play music from one end, which makes me wonder if this normal or not. If it is not normal, I could send to the Sony store nearby since I have a 2 year warranty and a Accidental Damage plan on it.
Oh and here's the video of the "problem": Donny's Z1 Compact
Solved!

There is the speaker located, the same on Z1 but on the opposite part.

• Problem with speakers

I experienced today that my iPhone 4s speakers failed to work. This happened once before, then I fixed it by using a blow dryer. I tried this now, with no success. I don't hear any sounds while typing, locking the iPhone, nor when I listen to music or apps. - it only works when I plug in the headphones. The speakers work when I receive a call, and when I adjust the volume in settings. I have already tried to restart and restore, but neither worked. And when I try to adjust the volume with the volume buttons, it does NOT say headphones, so I don't think the jack is the problem. What to do?

IIt failed to work last nifgt, and it didn't fix automatically during the night (it's 10:25 AM in Norway now). Same problem as before. I really don't know what to do about it
