I saw your post regarding the notebook not turning on. From your description it sounds like it might be the Num or Caps Lock lights that are doing the blinking. Do you notice if it is blinking in any sort of pattern as this could tell us the problem with the notebook. This HP support document Computer Does Not Start and the LEDs Blink or the Computer Beeps has a section on what the blink codes mean.

  • G61 632NR Notebook Blank Screen

Hello.  My notebook screen stays black with the caps light and light on the right hand corner (between end and page up) continously blinking.  Also there is a light by the space bar that stays on.  My internet light stays amber and won't go to blue to turn on. I tried the reset taking the battery out and pressing power down for three times, and that didn't work. I have pretty low tech skills, but I saw other posts about hard drives, but I don't know how to test that for sure.   Also, when it last worked, the battery was pretty low, but that may have nothing to do with this problem.  (The third prong of the plug recently broke off too, but I have charged it for hours.) Thanks (and hopefully future kudos) for any help!!!

    Hello 13881KM,
When you turn the computer on the screen stays black, is that accurate? I will be happy to help you.
We are going to try  to run a couple tests if possible.
    1.       Turn off your computer and locate the F10 key on the top of the keyboard.
    2.       Turn the computer on and immediately start tapping the F10 key.
    3.       If successful you should be on the bios setup utility screen
    4.       Across the top go over to diagnostic and run the test that it shows
Please have your AC adapter plugged in while doing this process.
Respond back with results of the test.
Please respond back at your earliest convenience.
    Thanks

  • Dead Hard Drive / Windows 7 / No Recovery Disks for HP G61-632NR Notebook PC

My harddrive is completely DEAD.  Is there a way to find out using my serial number if my laptop came with 32 bit or 64 bit?  There is NO information at all in the documents I kept with the box.  Only the receipt.  I see I can only order recovery disks for 64 bit online as 32 bit is not available.  I don't' want to pay for them if they won't work. I'm so frustrated this laptop is only a little over 2 years old.

    Thanks so much!

  • Using windows 7 on my G61-632NR Notebook connected to Sanyo TV

The HDMI is showing as not plugged in. Video works fine but no sound from TV. I've tried uninstalling and installing and about everything else suggested in the forums.

Well, shucks, i just spent almost 30 minutes trying to find your model user guide to explain it better, I guess they never got around to making it.....
I would just borrow another Windows disk and try installing it again and if it does it again then you might take it to an Apple Store and see if one of the "Genius' " can figure it out.
Make sure your internet is enabled and click on your blank desktop and at the top of your screen is a Help menu option, enter PRAM and it should give you a list of things relating to Pram. It may take a few seconds to list anything as it has to connect to Apples severs first. It should list the things you may have to fill back in when your done.
"P-ram" stores some common information that is used in the background, your date, time, startup disk, etc, that you don't have to re-fill when you restart, it's a little different for each computer.

  • HP G61 408CA notebook sound card driver for windows XP

i newly bought HP G61 408CA notebook which came with windows 7. I had to downgrade it to windows XP.
Now i have a big problem with its sound card driver for windows XP. I have tried the following instruction:
"Re: HP G61 sound card driver for windows XP

Have you tried drivers in XP downgrade guide, here
Conexant High-Definition SmartAudio 221 Driver (CQ50, CQ60, CQ70, G50, G60 and G70), use Microsoft Update driver, or download it here
For CQ60/70 and G60/70 with Conexant Pebble, here
Please install MS-UAA before audio driver
     newer (sp42126) HERE"
i have installed sp42126 which worked just fine. Then i tried to install "the CQ60/70 and G60/70 with Conexant Pebble"
but it said " driver installation failed. Could not find the media device for this driver"
    Now what should i do?
Where can i find the proper sound card driver fot my HP? Please help
    >

    Hello,
Since you downgrade your laptop to xp, drivers are not installed properly, if you check on our website and choosed xp for the operating system, driver are limited, I suggest to return computer to its original factory condition, might wanna consider ordering the recovery disc if you did not create one
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=4125779&lc=en&cc=ca&dlc=en&lc=en&lang=en...
Your sound driver is IDT high definition audio and not a Conexant, Using the driver for Conexant would not work
If problem is still there, pls inform me

  • HP G61-632NR serious problems

Laptop doesn't turn on at all, all the parts are orginal, even the tape is still in the places. Hit the power button, computer immediately shuts back off. I hold the power button the power led at the bottom blinks 4 times then shuts off. No leds come on, the lighting led at the bottom left is on when plugged in.
Computer just seems dead and from what I see it's something I can't fix. I'm guessing this is a motherboard issue.
    Please advise.

    Hi,
If I understand correctly and the LED that is blinking is on the side of the notebook, your correct in thinking this is a power issue.  If it is the Caps Lock and Number Lock LEDs this would indicate a CPU Failure.  Please see the table below.

  • Hard Drive and Startup Failure Code(Model: G61-429WM) Notebook

Windows won't start because it is missing a .DLL file.  I ran the system diagnostic tests( Hard Drive and Startup) they both gave me the same failure code(UOC7HA-52H74A-XD0021-60X603).  When I turn the computer on, it tells me to insert the system disc which I don't have.  Please advice.  Thank you!

Sounds like the hard drive has failed and will need to be replaced. If you are still in warranty HP will send a replacement. If not a retail laptop SATA hard drive can be used. Just be sure to get one of at least equal capacity as the original in order to use Recovery Discs. It can be larger, but not smaller capacity. For instance if you have a 500GB hdd you could use a 750GB hdd but not a 320GB hdd.

  • HP G61-410SA Notebook keyboard errors

    Hi,
Having massive issues with my HP laptop (13 months old). Basically my keyboard went nuts about ten minutes after spilling about a shot glass of water on it. I'm writing this with the on-screen keyboard it is so bad.
Basically some keys respond, others don't, caps lock seems to flick on of its own accord and most keys when hit display numerous other characters on-screen.
For an example when I hit b the following appears on screen bfvr
    When I hit p this appears =;/p
When I hit e it opens another tab on my browser
When I hit a the caps lock lights up and AZQ appears
    Some keys don't respond at all . . .
I've tried updating the drivers but no joy there, also removed and replaced battery, scanned for viruses and malware - does anyone have any ideas? Also if it is but, how easy would it be to use an external keyboard?
    Any help much appreciated.

Thanks, could I do this myself?
    Yes.
You will first have to source a replacement keyboard. (amazon.com  or ebay .amongst others)
Here is a link to a tutorial with photos that shows exactly how to replace the keyboard at insidemylaptop.com. Follow the tutorial carefully and it should should be a pretty quick job. Be very careful with the ribbon connector as they are easy to break.

  • HP G61-410SA Notebook connection error 651

Suddenly I could not connect to the internet.  Network Saring Center shows it connected but I can't get anything up. On checking connections I am getting error 651. Even plugging broadband cable in does not fix it.
I seem to have lost one of my drivers.
I used another computer to download all network related drivers from HP and transfered them over via a USB memory stick. I loaded the drivers but to no avail.
    Help - - - what am I missing.
    Jim

    @Jim4cad ,
Thank you for posting on the HP support forums.  First thing you will want to try is when removing and installing drivers, is to do this from Windows Safe Mode.
This way you have no issues with other background processes messing up the removal of your driver.
HP PCs - Windows 8 Safe Mode
You will want to boot into safemode without networking.
Once there, uninstall the wireless drivers.
Now boot back into windows normally and install the wireless driver.
If you are having the same issue then you will want to back up all your data and do a system recovery back to the original configuration.
HP PCs - Performing an HP system recovery (Windows 8)
Let me know how things go.

  • What does the bios look like on a G61-336NR? Product: VU181UA#ABA

What does the bios look like on a G61-336NR? Product: VU181UA#ABA and is it removable?

    Hi Juicy9097,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP G61-336NR Notebook and BIOS concerns. The BIOS is responsible for loading the operating system. Without it your computer will not work as it checks the hardware and then loads the operating system. Here is a link From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia explaining the BIOS.
    Hope this explains things.

I grasp that the screen stays black and the caps and num lock keys stay lit.  Here is a link to Troubleshooting No LED Lights Glow During Startup or Boot.  You did mention that you have tried to update the bios to no avail.
Here is a link to the  HP G61-110SA Notebook PC Drivers. There is a bios update listed. Here is a document on Updating the BIOS to assist you with that process.  Please let me know the results.

  • HP G61-100SA doesn't start up.

Hi, my G61-100SA notebook has recently become problematic. When I press the power button, the fan starts running but that's pretty much it. The screen doesnt even turn on. What happens is that the LEDs near caps lock and nums lock blink 3 times before shutting down, then restarting again. It then goes on to blink continually non-stop without doing anything. Can somebody please just help me? And, in addition, I suspect that this might have been caused by 2 electrically shorted usb ports.

    Hey there,
You can find out what the LED code is and how to resolve the issue in this document: Computer Does Not Start and Emits an LED or Beep Code  This beep can mean a few different things. Work through the document and then post back with any new details.
    Thanks,
    Sean
