HP G62 Notebook PC. XF287EA#ABU. Windows 7 64-bit

Dear Sirs,
I am not sure why i am having trouble playing games on my pc.  Up until recently I could play games but pressing on a facebook game brings the login page flashing on and off and doesn't take me to the game.  I was in the middle of a scrabble game when it first did it.  When i managed to get back on the person i was playing had cancelled the game, because they didn't think i was interested in playing and now its done it again.  i can play offline games, but have trouble playing online games.  can you please help me.

Hi,
I would say this is a problem with Adobe Flash, so try the following.
First, download the Flash uninstall utility on the link below and save it to your Desktop.
http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/uninstall_flash_player.exe
When the download has completed, close all browser windows and run the uninstaller.  After this has completed, restart the notebook.
Next, download and install Firefox and then using Firefox, download and install the latest version of Adobe Flash.
Close all browser windows before running the Flash installer.
Launch Firefox and see if the games play Ok - if they do, close Firefox, open IE ( See Note Below ) and click on the same Adobe Flash link above to get a prompt to install the ActiveX component.  When done, restart IE.
Note:  If you have a 64bit installation, make sure you open Internet Explorer and not Internet Explorer64 ) and click on the same Adobe Flash link above to get a prompt to install the ActiveX component.  When done, restart IE.
If you want to use Internet Explorer 64, install Adobe Flash for this browser using the link below.

  • Failure ID on G62 Notebook

When I boot up my G62 notebook it gives me an error 0xc00000e9.  When I then run diagnostic tests I get a failure error id as follows  GGBRW4-5MF70T-9XL03F-60T603  it gives me a product ID of XF205EA#ABU.  I have tried all the diagnostic tests but can't get any further.
My options on startup are Launch system repair or start windows normally both get me back to the error message.

Your hard drive is dying or dead. Post back if you want help buying a new hard drive and replacing it in the machine and with software migration/reinstallation. Your out of pocket cost is going to be $60-100 US for a mechanical hard drive, more if you want to use this opportunity to try a solid state drive.

  • How do I get my HP notebook to boot to windows again?

My HP G62 notebook has recently been acting up and not booting to windows

    Hi,
Shut down the notebook.  Tap away at f10 as you start the notebook to enter the bios menu.  Under the Advanced or Diagnostic tab you should find the facility to run tests on both the Hard Drive and Memory.  Post back with the details of any error messages.
Can you also post back with the following.
    1.  The full Model No. and Product No. of the notebook ( from the service tag underneath your notebook ) - see Here for a further explanation.
    2.  The full version of the operating system you are using ( ie Windows 7 32bit ).

  • HP G62 Notebook has Smart Hard disk error

My HP G62 Notebook PC just stopped in the middle of my doing homework the other day and came up with an error code on the screen. I have went in through the BIOS and ran a hard disk test. It passes the first 2 tests and then fails on the third one.
I have tried to back it up over a month, just in case it was a virus but that doesn't seem to make a difference. Now upon start up it says the following:
    "SMART Hard Disk Error
The SMART Hard disk check has detected an imminent failure. To ensure not data loss, please backup the content immediatly and run the Hard Disk Test in System Diagnostics.
    Hard Disk 1 (301)"
Does this mean my computer is done? Do I need a new hard drive? I'm definetly not the most tech savvy person. I did see another board where they suggested removing the hard drive and then reinstalling it. This doesn't seem to make a difference. HELP!!

    Hi,
The Smart error would indicate that the Hard Drive is failing and needs to be replaced.
If your notebook is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange to have the drive replaced - you can check your warranty status Here.
If you live in the US, contact HP Here.
If you are in another part of the world, start Here.
If you are out of warranty and would like a guide on replacing the Hard Drive yourself, please let me know - include the full Model No. and Product No. of your G62 series notebook - see Here for a further explanation.

  • G62 notebook won't boot from boot disk

Need to recover computer.  I ordered a boot disk from HP.  The disk arrived and my G62 notebook will not book from boot disk.  I checked the bios and it is set to boot from CD.  I also started in safemode and can't locate an autorun exe when I launch explorer.
Basically my computer was hijacked with a nasty virus that has completely taken over my PC.  If I boot normally all I see is an empty desktop and an start menu, can't even get a run prompt.  The virus is disguised as anti virus software and is trying to get me to pay for their $90 software suite to "correct" the problem.
If I hit F11 at start up, the recovery stalls and I get an eternal blank screen.
    Any suggestions?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hi, Courtney:
Try the free Kaspersky rescue CD.
That disk will get rid of viruses like those and the good thing is you don't need to be in Windows to run it.
It is a bootable CD (which you make from the download file) and using the graphic user interface (GUI) you can scan your PC for viruses and remove them.
    Link and instructions below:
    http://support.kaspersky.com/viruses/rescuedisk
Rather than changing the boot order, just start the notebook and at the beginning of the HP welcome screen, tap the F9 key to launch the one time boot menu.  Select the DVD Rom drive and hit the enter key.
You should then see a message displayed on your screen that states in substance:  "Attempting to boot from DVD...Press any key to boot from DVD..."
Press any key and the DVD or CD should boot up.

  • HP Printers, Notebooks, Tablets, and Desktops & Windows 10

Welcome to the HP Support Forums Windows 10 guide.
If you are thinking about upgrading your device to Windows 10, be sure to check the compatibility first. It takes just a few minutes to do. We would like to help you do this and it will only take a few minutes. Just go to the HP Windows 10 main page hp.com/windows10upgrade and do two thing things:
Click the link http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824 to get the exact model number of your HP laptop, desktop, or tablet.
Enter the exact model number to check for compatibility hp.com/windows10upgrade.
(Be sure to include the exact model number and not the product series. For example on laptops, HP provides a type of model name near the keyboard or screen which often represent a series of many notebook computers that look similar, but have different options and parts. For example, HP has produced over a hundred types of G62 notebook models in different configurations, such as the G62-340-US and the G62-465DX models. In this example, you need to enter G62-340-US not G62 to check your system.)
If you are wondering if your HP Printer work with Windows 10, please visit our main HP Windows 10 page hp.com/windows10upgrade. HP has a specific area dedicated to help identify if your printer will work with Windows 10. There is a complete list of printers with Windows 10 drivers. Hello @patepluma and @stang65x, Welcome to the HP forums, and thanks for posting! While the Windows 10 drivers for your printers have not yet been posted on our support page, you can actually use Windows 8.1 drivers for your Windows 10 operating system, as they use the same core functions. You can download the Photosmart D110a software for Windows 8.1 here - HP Photosmart Full Feature Software and Drivers You can download the Deskjet 2515 software for Windows 8.1 here - HP Deskjet Full Feature Software and Drivers Please note : If your device had full supported (not just basic print or scan) in Windows 7 or 8 then your device is supported, but may not immediately show up on hp.com for Windows 10: Please download the Win8.1 drivers and use those (they have been tested and worked with Win10) - Source I hope this helps! Thnx for reply; to make sure I have it correct: at present I am still using win7... if I download win10 I can download the win8.1 drivers for the D110 and deskjet 2515 and I will be able to print. • Can I swap a HD from my G62 notebook into my G61 notebook?

    Hi there,
My motherboard in my G62 notebook is friend. However the hard drive is good and is loaded with win8.1. I would like to swap this HD into my G61 notebook that is presently running win7. Are there any issues I should be aware of before doing this swap?
    This question was solved.

    Hi:
It depends on if the PC's have relatively the same hardware (processor and chipset).
If they do, most likely the drive will boot up.
Worst case scenario is you reinstall the operating system.
If the drive does boot up, you may have to reactivate Windows 8.1 since it will sense the new motherboard.

I clicked on BIOS (F10) and when to "Diagnostics" and clicked on both of the 2 options. the first option said "Memory Test", i did the memory test and it passed. Unfortunately I have bad news for you.
The BIOS diagnostic  test confirms that your hard disk has failed.
Is your G62 notebook still within its warranty period?
    If it is...Contact HP
If not.'.gather your HP Recovery disc set and purchase and install a new hard disk..

Hello mike_farhat.  I understand you're looking for drivers for your G6.
Unfortunately there are no drivers available specifically for Windows 7 32-bit.  However, here is a link to the drivers for Windows 7 64-bit.
Another thing you could try is to install both the HP Software Framework and HP Support Assistant.  Then you can run HP Support Assistant and the application will scan your PC and automatically download and install any drivers which are available.
I hope this helps.  Have a great day!

  • HP 2000-2d19WM Notebook Windows 7 64-bit Drivers

My friend recently gave me her laptop and told me it was very slow and was having several problems. I took a look at it and it's riddled with malware and adware. After discussing it with her, she said she'd like if I could install Windows 7 on it for her.
The laptop is running Windows 8.1, and I honestly at first thought it would be simple to just throw the disc in and install Windows 7. But I did my research on it.
I think I understand how to get past the UEFI and actually isntall the OS, the only problem I have is I can't find all the necessary drivers for this specific model of PC for Windows 7 64-bit. I see that HP only offers complete driver sets for Windows 8 and 8.1.
Where could I get all the necessary drivers needed for this model of PC for Windows 7 64-bit? Thanks!

I cannot install latest itunes to my Sony notebook which is running on traditional chinese windows 7 64-bit, the error message is something like unrecognized windows package, can any one help me or has similar experience? Thanks.

iTunes 9.0.x is certainly compatible with Win7 64 bit since I use that exact setup on 3 different PCs. Two suggestions for your installation problems:
1)Download a new copy of the 64 bit installer from Apple then, instead of just running the itunes installer right click on it and try 'run as adminstrator'. In my experience that clears up a world of problems with program installation in Win7 and Vista. This is necessary even if you're already logged in as an administrator.
    2) Try the previous version of iTunes (9.0.3). You can get a copy at http://www.oldapps.com/itunes.php?old_itunes=54 again right click on the file and "run as administrator"
    Good luck, hope this helps.
