HP HD 4310 Webcam Sensor

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could tell me the sensor dimensions for the
 HP HD 4310 Webcam
they are not quoted in the specifications. If you also know the exact pixel pitch that would be even more helpful.
Thanks

A predictable response, you get loads of "kudos" for that.
Where's the button for "No Kudos" then?

  • Class not registered

    HD-4310 Webcam software.
When installing I get this error message:
" Class not registered " (without speech marks)
I followed a tip to use " sfc /VERIFYONLY " to scan for a permissions problem but my system comes up clean.
    Can anyone help?
    Much appreciated

Thanks for the expansive reply. I must say, I disagree with your statement: “As I said, it was a problem with the HP Webcam installation, not Windows Explorer. It's a good job I didn't take your suggestion for a solution in the first link and act on it.” I am going to provide an elaborate explanation as to why I disagree with this statement.
Firstly, I'm going to provide you with the most significant troubleshooting steps from the first link I provided (link is http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-desktop/explorerexe-class-not-registe...
    “Hello,
I would suggest the following support steps....
-Load into Safemode and verify if you are able to access your desktop
-Create an alternate user account and verify if you are experiencing this issue.
-System Restore your computer to a previosu date and time when it was functioning normally.
    -SFC /scannow
-Perform a repair Installation of Windows. (Universal steps are listed below)
Please proceed with performing a repair installation of the OS.  In case of a failure, please ensure that you back up your data to an external location prior to performing the repair.  Below are the steps to proceed with the repair process.”
I will cut the quote at this point. Now, I have worked, researched, and experimented with software on Windows since 2000. Running the computer in Safe Mode is always a troubleshooting step. The part about accessing the desktop may not apply, however, running in Safe Mode is crucial and helpful. I cannot describe how vital it is in certain types of troubleshooting. Creating a new user account and attempting to perform the same mission can potentially repair all “Class not register” errors, not just specific errors. Of course, this will point to an issue on your primary account. The system file checker scan is always valid, because you never know what it will detect, which can be significant. A System Restore may or may not work, depending if the software did work at a certain point. Finally, a repair installation of Windows, while it is a monumental task, is a troubleshooting step.
Secondly, I noticed the Operating System that is subjected on the thread is Windows Vista. I informed you that I would require you to inform me of your operating system, and model number, so I can assist you further. However, the funny factor about the more recent Windows operating systems is that troubleshooting is extremely similar on all operating systems. I provided the best thread I could, without knowledge of your operating system, since the troubleshooting provided applied to Windows 7 as well.
Thirdly, I'm going to quote your statement, then provide my response:
“The better advice would have been to let me know how to find the Problems and Solutions in the Action Centre and get some more information before a complete repair of my entire OS. I can't remember how I found out now, but I couldn't find them there and took a tip to type the name "problem reports" into the search bar of the start menu and click on "view all problem reports”.”
While this troubleshooting is valid, my style of troubleshooting enables this troubleshooting step to only be performed on special occasions. This issue was not one where I would've elected to perform this task. My troubleshooting I provided would've narrowed down the issue, ultimately, if it wasn't resolved. Even if I had to troubleshoot this issue from scratch, I would not perform this task.

  • HP Webcam HD 4310

Just bought a new webcam as old one stopped working in skype which is all I use it for.  New one bought and installed today but the webcam is not recognised as being installed.  I am trying it on windows vista on a desktop pc.  I have had an error message appear that states CWindows\system32\avicap32.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.  Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator of the software vendor for support.  I have no idea what this means but am very frustrated that I cannot get this to work at all at the moment.  Any help would be extremely grateful.

Hi there. I can't directly answer your question but I can tell you that I too am having problems with HD4310. Like you, I am using it with Vista Home. The software has installed ok but, the drivers, as listed in Device Manager, are Microsoft from 2006. This seems odd.
I am getting very poor performance from the webcam which was purchased to give better quality than my existing (and still working perfectly,) Logitech Pro4000.
I use ISPQ videochat software. The little self view window works ok for a few minutes and then the frame rate drop to something ridiculous. I can practically wave my hand, but the webcam operates so slowly, it will not see any movement!
I'm yet to try my cam in Skype
I'm a bit stumped as to why a brand new camera is giving such poor performance when an old Logitech soldiers on.
Maybe just try reinstalling the software/drivers to see if it works. Also check if you have the same drivers as me - the 2006 ones by Microsoft. Good luck.

  • Suggestion for a truly Mac-compatible webcam?

I'm not sure which is the best group for this, so here goes. I need a wireless (wifi 802.11g) network camera, which I will access from a Mac. A number of cameras rated highly on-line don't actually work with Mac because they need an ActiveX control (only available on Windows with Internet Explorer) or need a PC for the initial setup. Can someone recommend a good network camera that doesn't need any PC involvement?
    Thanks!
    Mike

Ok, I can provide you with a better answer than linking to a Google search.
Look for a camera with similar features to the isight.
CCD sensor has a 640×480-pixel VGA resolution. Autoexposure, autofocusing from 50 mm to infinity, and video capture at 30 frames per second in 24-bit color with a variety of shutter speeds. Internal microphones with dual-element noise suppression.
    Like these cameras:

You can also use Logitech cameras using Macam drivers.

  • What type of external webcam works with iChat?

Is there a certain type of external webcam that works with iChat or can any webcam do the job?

Logitech Quickcam Vision pro for the Mac was recently released and I am using it with G5 QUAD and OS X 10.5.4 without problems. It is quite expensive compared to other cameras but it has a Zeiss lens and I think a much better picture. Works with evocam also. (evocam is a shareware program to do time lapse photos, or motion sensor movies and webcam stuff). I'm very happy with it.

  • Creative WebCam Notebook PD1170 max non software interpolated mode?

    MODEL:
    PD70
    PRODUCT NAME:
    Creative WebCam Notebook
    PRODUCT HOMEPAGE:
    http://www.creative.com/products/pro...53&product=629
I brought it at the days of 2004 when the mic was yet not included in the package case.
    QUESTION:
What is the physical hardware capability for image resolution (not software interpolated) of the PD1170 web camera to capture still images?
    FEATURES
    http://www.creative.com/products/pro...duct=629&nav=0
capture sharp and highly-detailed video and snapshots at up to 640 x 480 resolution.
    640x480 (VGA) image sensor
Featuring an advanced image sensor at 640 x 480 resolution, get true color reproduction and detailed videos every time you use it.
    SPECIFICATIONS
    http://www.creative.com/products/pro...oduct=629&nav=
    Highest Still Image Resolution: 640 X 480
    Highest Video Resolution: 640 X 480
I suspect this "Highest Still Image Resolution 640x480" is "software interpolated" because the FEATURES-page uses the wording "at UP TO to 640 x 480 resolution" and by other Creative web-cameras the pictures with biggest dimensions are usually taken with software interpolation mode enabled.
Creatives marketing seems to have taken care that different web cameras seem to be incomparable as the product webpages dont offer consistent information.
I have limited storage space on hard disk and I want to run "Capture at regular intervals" session over a longer period of time, pointed at construction site.
If I would know the maximum resolution mode, which is not software interpolated, then I could optimize my disk usage by taking the still image shots at the maximum physical resolution the camera actually can handle and get the best quality out of it at the minimal cost of hard disk capacity consumption.
And then afterwards if I need pictures which would look bigger, then interpolate the taken shots manually by myself with IrfanView or Photoshop or with whatever program that can resize image.
I assume, that running webcam with the software interpolation enabled is basically equal to what I can achieve afterwards with Photoshop or Irfanview if I make the picture dimensions bigger in previously mentioned software programs.
Currently I have taken still image shots at regular intervals in 640*480 mode outside my window.
The picture quality is poor, yet 640*480 images in BMP format consume huge amount of disk space (900KB each).
I have already some tens of gigabytes saved onto HDD... ;D
As the image quality is already poor as it is, I dont want to use JPG format, because JPG is lossy format and therefore it would make a poor image look even more poor.
Because of the 640*480 image quality looks poor, I assume that the image quality in 640*480 by "PD1170 Creative WebCam Notebook" is alreay software interpolated and therefore it would make much more sense to make still image shots at some lower resolution such as 352x288.
    Am I correct?
Therefore I need to know the maximum non interpolated mode. So..
What is the physical hardware capability (not software interpolated) of the PD70 web camera to capture still images?

the Device Manager error message reads:
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)
Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.
Also, i followed the instructions to do a clean boot, and installed it that way (after uninstalling it first, obviously) and it still gave me an error message in the bottom corner saying there was an error installing the hardware. To clarify this, after the wizard directs me to connect the Webcam, it automatically closes, and the error message i see, i believe, is from Windows.
To make sure i'm doing this correctly, and know what i'm talking about, i want to lay out what i've been doing. I downloaded the driver from the Creative website. I made sure that i had no existing drivers or anything on my system for this equipment. I then simply "run" the driver installation, and follow the directions until it directs me to insert the camera, at which time the wizard closes, and i get the error message.

  • Is it must to have Kinect device/sensor to use Kinect SDK ?

    Hi,
I have an image having a person in it. The image was taken from any digital camera or any WebCam.
My task is to find Person's height, and different sizes of his body measurements eg: size of his Neck, Waist, Calf, Ankle, Wrist, and Length of: His total height, Right shoulder, left shoulder, Hips to floor, Hips to Bust, Waist to Knee, Waist to Floor,
    etc...
Can I use Kinect SDK for this purpose ? I am again repeating, Can i use Kinect SDK to find above mentioned measurements from any given image ? (Without having Kinect device/sensor)
I am using Windows 8 with Visual Studio 2012. Please suggest.
    Regards,
    Zia.

    The short answer is no.
You''ll need a Kinect v2 sensor, actually body detection and tracking is done purely using the depth data and does not use the color stream at all for this.
In theory you could create your own algorithms for detecting and tracking humans purely based on video (probably from multiple angles). But even with libraries like OpenCV and advanced knowledge of machine learning algorithms this will be a difficult
and time consuming task at least.

  • [BUG] iOS 6 - BATTERY DRAIN : SIRI Raise to Speak/Proximity Sensor Always On/Flashing When Screen Active

Bug: Raise to Speak sensor for Siri remains on whenever the screen is active - regardless of Siri Raise to Speak Setting (enabled or disabled).
After updating to iOS 6 (via iTunes - not OTA), I noticed that my battery was taking quite a bit of a hit.  Granted I was checking out the new features but aside from a very short call, nothing major in the way of activity.
I had also noticed that Siri sounded quite a bit different with iOS 6 (10A403) than with 5.1.1 (9B206).  Not only did the Siri Voice change but also the responses vary between the two iOS versions.
Example: What is the weather like in Alaska?
    iOS 5.1.1 response:
Here's the forecast for Juneau, Alaska through Monday
    iOS 6.0 response:
Here's the weather for Juneau, AK through Monday (note: Siri does not say "Alaska", instead Siri says 'A-Kay'
With iOS 6, Siri sounds more robotic.  After looking at speech rate settings and comparing between the two versions, I could find nothing different.  I decided to post a video and this is where the Siri bug became interesting and tied into the battery drain with iOS 6.
Remember with 5.0.1 we saw a hit on battery drain and one of the fixes was a fix to the proximity sensor (http://hottipscentral.com/could-siri-be-hurting-iphone-4s-battery-this-little-li ght-might-mean-something/).  Well, it appears this bug is back in iOS 6.  When I went to do the video, I noticed that my 4s had a flashing light near the earpiece.  It remained on continuously.  The only time it would stop flashing was when the phone was locked and the screen inactive.  As soon as I hit the lock button to bring the phone out of lock, the sensor would begin to flash again.
Give it a shot, hold up your iPhone to a webcam and see if your result is the same.
Submitting this to Apple via the feedback form.  Please do the same if you are seeing the same behavior.
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

I dont believe so Amy.  Phone has not sustained any damaging drops nor any liquid spills.  Was not an issue before but I figured I'd post as I believe this is a definite bug.  I neglected to mention that I have my wife's 4s (5.0.1 build) which I am using as a comparison.
Based on the issues folks are reporting with the ambient light sensor, its either the proximity or the ambient light sensor causing the drain.  I've turned auto brightness AND raise to speak both off and the sensor continues to flash as I described in my opening post.
If others can confirm, this will definitely need to be looked at by Apple and fixed.
I just found this - same behavior (posted 7/24/2012 on another forum - source link below).
Hi folks, remember the proximity sensor (always on bug) I reported here in iOS 6 Beta 1 bugs/feedback thread? It continues to happen in beta 3, I reported to Apple and the answer I got from them is that it behaves how it's intended to do
Thing is, when you turn Raise To Speak feature off, and use your webcam (no IR filter) to verify if it turned infrared proximity sensor off, results that it didn't. Since iOS 5 this bug has been present, power cycling, or doing a soft reset solves this issue but this solution does not apply in iOS 6. Don't have an idea on how hard it is on battery draining, but it makes no sense that this sensor stays on forever even when you turn this feature off. Unless it has to do with constantly display brightness adjust feature that we have noticed came with iOS 6 version. Doing some test of this feature (some of you commented about a brightness bug in earlier posts) I noticed that ambient light variations make that display brightness adjust accordingly to brighter or darker ambiences. Previous to iOS 6, the sensor samples the ambient light, and adjusts the brightness; it does this only once--each time you unlock the phone after waking it. Now in iOS 6 you can easily watch how brightness slider adjusts itself when display senses light variations. If you open Passbook app it raises brightness to full (it is supposed to act this way for easy reading of barcodes) but getting out of Passbook app makes that brightness readjusts itself responding to actual ambient light intensity (this adjusting task occurs slowly until brightness slider stops to right level).
I've checked and ambient light sensor and proximity sensor are separate and work differently but if Apple says that an always on proximity sensor in this iOS version is behaving how it is intended to do; all that I could think of is that it has to do with ambient light "sensing"??

  • Qosmio X500-110 - Webcam failed to initialize

    Hi
I have a Qosmio x500-110. Bought brand new out of the box and I havnt changed nothing.
It displays this error message after startup "webcamera failed to initialize...restart application or computer" and the webcam stops working. Also when this happens the finger print reader and bluetooth devices also stop working. The finger print say "failed to connect to sensor". As soon as you restart the computer it works fine. Then again it may go anytime.
I dont know wat is causing this prblem. I have downloaded and reinstalled the drivers also (Windows 7 64bit) and the softwares for the same but dosnt help.

    Hi
So you have already reinstalled the webcam driver and still running preinstalled OS without any 3rd party applications and this error occurs?
Well, I think in this case your only chance is the authorized service provider. The technicians should check your notebook, maybe its a hardware problem or something else. Just contact the guys and explain the situation. They will help you as best as possible.
    Good luck! :)

  • Focal length and CMOS sensor size

    Hi everybody.
My question is probably different from the norm but I still guess this is probably the good place to ask.
I'm currently working with a few creative webcam's and matlab in a project and I need to know the camera's focal length and the size of the CMOS sensor, however I can't seem to find that information in the documentation that came with the webcams.
The size of the sensor is constant but the focal length of the camera changes if i rotate the focus ring right?
Is there a way to estimate the focal length of the camera without knowing the size of the sensor? and what if the size of the CMOS sensor is known, can I consider directly the pin hole camera model and simply use pitagoras theorum to obtain the focal length of the camera? or would that be a very rough approximation?
Sorry for all the question and the bad english (its not my native language)
    Thanks in advance.
