Hi I have a hp hdx 16t laptop, hooked it up to philips 52 inch LED tv via an hdmi cable and get video on tv but no audio. Only sound from laptop, My tv is set to computer hdmi 1 and all drivers up tp date. I have goolged numerous solutions and none have worked. If anybody has the time, a solution would be just great.. jd.

If you have the the video drivers installed for your notebook's chipset and the discrete video module then you should see something similar to the folowing image. This is on my loaner HP Pavilion dv7-4180ea. When I connect the notebook to my Philips HDTV the operating system switches to HDMI audio after I direct the video to the TV with the function keys on the notebook.

Hi,
Open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Display Devices - make a note of the hardware listed here i.e. ATI, NVidia or Intel.
Next, connect your notebook via HDMI to your Tv. Right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices. Left click once ( just to highlight the entry ) the HDMI Output that has the same name as your display adapter and then click the Set Default button - see if you now have audio.

Is the TV set to take input from the HDMI connection?
On your computer, if you open the Displays preferences and do not see an Arrangement tab (or there is an Arrangement tab that shows only a single monitor) then there is something physically wrong with your connection. Try clicking Detect Displays just to see if the computer can now sense the presence of the connection. Check your connections.
If you do have an Arrangement tab, and it shows two screens, then click Gather Windows to bring the TV's Displays preferences on to your main screen if the TV is not yet showing an image. Set the proper resolution (probably 720p, 1080i, or 1080p). Set the refresh rate (probably 60Hz) if that preference is shown. You should see a picture at this point. I recommend turning off mirrored displays if it is enabled.

I check sound and do not see anything other than the altec lansing speckers and realtek. Th altec lansings are the default. Help

Welcome to the HP Forums. I understand you are unable to produce audio through an HDMI connection. I apologize for the late response, but I will do my best to assist you. Before anything else, please answer these questions:
1. What is the current computer's operating system? Does the same behaviour occur on multiple operating systems?
2. The title seems to imply that there is no audio when connected to a television, using HDMI. Does this only occur when you connect to a television? Will it occur if you connect to something else using HDMI?
3. Have you tried connecting to a television using VGA or DVI? If so, what are the results?
As an additional suggestion, for now, I would review the television's manual to confirm that everything is correct from the television's standpoint.

Only MacBook Pro's from mid-2010 onwards support audio through the mini-DisplayPort. You will need to hook up a cable from the headphone socket to the TV.

I was able to hook up my macbook pro to the hdmi cable and see my desk top but it won't let me see any programs I open.

Your TV is acting as an extension of your desktop. You can have some windows on your internal screen and some on your TV. Just drag the ones you want on your TV to that part of the extended screen. You can find out how the two screens are related spacially (and control it) at System Preferences > Displays > Arrangement.
If you prefer the two screen display the same windows, you can activate mirroring on that same preferences panel. You will have to choose what common resolution they both use.

Toshiba e205 Laptop to Panasonic LCD HDTV with HDMI CABLE Problems

I try to connect my toshiba e205-s1904 laptop to my panasonic hdtv through the hdmi cable and it just won't show up on the tv. The laptop seems to not recognize it. I've tried it before and it has worked once or twice where the Panasonic tv shows up as a display option. But I haven't been able to get it to work again. I put the correct output on the tv and even lower the resolution on the laptop but it still doesnt recognize it. I get an option where it says display on vga but that's it. I change it to the projector settings and that worked once. I've tried a lot of stuff but nothing seems to get it to display on the tv. I have an integrated graphics card with the hdmi port and am running windows 7 64 bit. If anyone can help, please let me know! Thanks!

if the tv has to be set to vga, does that mean that the hdmi cable cannot be used? I tried it once where i put the hdmi cable in and then hit the windows key and p to connect it to projector and the Panasonic TV showed up as an option. But I cant get it to show up again. My laptop doesnt seem to recognize the tv at all.

Upgrading HDX 16t GPU. Need to know which ones fit and work.

I'm looking into upgrading the medium level graphics card HP pawned off on me when I ordered my HDX16. If I remember there was one other option when choosing my GPU when I ordered this, and I was wondering if maybe that would fit, or what fits at all, or if it can be upgraded at all. Any infomation would be greatly appreciated.

OK, good news and bad news. The bad news is that the GPU is soldered into the motherboard (I know because I just took this whole thing apart to upgrade the Processor). This means that to replace the GPU (Video Card), you need to get the motherboard. I don't know the part numbers, but HP will be able to give that stuff to you.
The good news is that the video card may be upgrade-able. The NVidia GT-130M with 1024MB dedicated memory is the best option that the HDX 16T comes with... I know because I specifically purchased it since I knew I would run into what you've run into.
Unfortunately, unlike desktops, the laptop video cards are either soldered like HP, or like Dell, they only have very specific cards that will work in them (has to do with the shape of the card, and the type of plug). The more bad news is that a replacement motherboard will probably run you a good $300+... If you're resourceful you can put your old board on ebay and recoup some of that back.

How do i get my surround sound to work with my laptop while using a hdmi cable for the video

I have a Sony surround sound system hooked up that works great. My X-Box 360 works with it and I can get my HP G60 to play audio files through the surround sound system with a red and white audio jack plugged into the back of my surround sound receiver, the red and white audio cord goes to a 3.5mm headphone jack that i plug into the headphone plug on the front of my computer. The problem occurs when I hook my HDMI cable into my computer and connect it to my Samsung Flat screen, the HDMI sound takes over and wont allow the sound to go through the headphone jack. My tv does not have any audio output plugs, and my suround sound reciever doesnt have an HDMI input. Is there a setting on the computer that will allow me to over ride the HDMI sound and direct the sound through the head phones? or is there an app or tool that will allow my laptop to recognize my suround sound system plugged into my laptop? I have been to best buy, walmart, radio shack and even my local car audio store to ask about this issue and everyone has a different solution, and so far none of them have worked???????? sincerley frustrated! please help!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I have a macbook and it is a dual boot system, I would like to be able to see the mac side of the system on a larger monitor. I can hook to a hdmi cable and see the pc side, but not the mac side, any suggestions?

I have a macbook that I bought second hand. The mac has a dual boot system with bootcamp on one side and snow leopard on the other. I would like to be able to hook to a larger hdmi monitor so that in both systems I could see better since on the leopard side the computer has PS4. I have purchased the dvi to HDMI accessory and purchased the HDMI to DVI cable, and can see fine on the bootcamp side, but nothing on the leopard side. Could somebody help me with configuring things so that it will see both side?
Also on a minor note, I need to purchase a new battery for this item and don't know which one to purchase. Any help would be greatly appreciated, especially with the display/monitor issue.

When you try to use the Mac side on your external monitor do you get a blank screen or do you see the aurora background?
It would help to know which one of the 9 different models of MacBook you have. To see which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier and post it back here.

Use your backup copy of your old computer to put everything on your new computer, then sync the iphone to that comptuer.

How do you hook your mac up to the tv and get audio?

I figured out how to get the image on the screen, but I can't figure out how to get the audio to come from the TV and not my mac.

What model Macbook Pro? What OS?, What connector are you using? What connector on your TV? If you are using Mini Display Port to HDMI or other connector you may need to use a separate audio cable.

Is this a cable modem? It has to be off for at least 20min and sometimes much longer before it will give up the old settings. You might even need to power down the cable modem overnight.
Tell us exactly what broadband you have with what ISP and exact model of modem..
The new TC cannot be setup without using the latest airport utility 6.3.1 or 6.3.2 and you need Lion - Mavericks to use it.
The computer also needs to have ipv6 setup to local link on whatever you are connecting with, wireless or ethernet.

You need the docking station, although I get 5.1 Dolby and DTS on my logitech 5500 with only 2 channel output from the headphone out. In the IDT
panel you should check the plug type icon to check "use other device" so the equalisation is not set for headphones.

You can only output content to your TV if the App you are using supports the TV Out functionality. Mirroring is not supported on the iPod Touch.
If you still want to output content from your iPod to your TV, make sure you have the right cables as described here.
