HP HDX Laptop - Solution for no audio through HDMI

Hi Guys,
Just want to share, how i resolved the HDMI Audio issue. I have a HP HDX16t laptop with latest Vista 32bit nvidia drivers (GeForce 9600MGT - 186.03 June 9, 2009) and last week i tried to connect it with my new Philips 32" LCD TV.  I was disappointed to only see the video and couldn't hear audio through my TV.   I tried to change the default playback device as SPDIF, but no luck as the 'NVidia HDMI Output' was always showing as disconnected. Somewhere in the internet i read that HDMI sound was working fine untill they updated nvidia drivers!!  I tried to rollback my nvidia drivers and it restored the previous release 185.85 May'09 which didn't work.  So I searched nvidia website to find the archived drivers and found 179.29, Dec'08 release to work flawlessly.  Now everytime I connect the HDMI cable, Nvidia HDMI output is selected automatically and when i unplug it, built-in speakers and headphones are selected.
http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_notebook_winvista_179.28_beta.html
I need to check if I can have the latest video drivers in combination with the audio drivers from 179.29 release.
Sorry for my bad english...just trying to save your time

Hello
The issue is because 185 and 186 version recognize HDMI connector like DVI conector ¿?., something is wrong with this actual versions.
Nvidia just tell me the following: "The issue you are experiencing is not a general behavior of the graphics card or the graphics driver.I will forward this issue to the concerned department to analyze the issue and if we're able to reproduce this issue then, will definitely try coming up with a fix in the future driver."
Go to complain about this issue to Nvidia Support in order to let them know that I´m not the only person on this world having this issueBy the way, their time response is less than 2 hours, go for it.To find this NVidia Support, just follow these instructions:
Go to visit "Nvidia webpage" // go to "Support" // go to "Knowledgebase" // then find "Ask a Question". Login will be requested, you´ll need to fill a very short form.

    how can i use audio through hdmi on mac book pro i have video no audio version 10.6.8 in audio it just has internal speaker options

    Hello,
    Open Audio Midi Setup in Applications>Utilities, see the input & output options & KHz setting there.

  • Trying to record Stereo Mix with a monitor through my headphones.  Using Screenium to record Audio and Video, using Avid MBox Mini with MXL 909 Microphone for the audio through the interface.

    Basically, what I am trying to do is this:
    Record my screen through Screeenium, record my voice as audio through an Avid MBox Mini (interface) with a MXL 909 microphone to pick up the audio.  I have all that figured out.  I'm able to efficiently record my audio and screenplay through these instruments and programs.  What I am having trouble with is the stereo mix.  I am running into a slew of problems here... My goal: Add on the audio of a game that I am playing (for example, Amneisia) so that the audio for my game will be picked up internally, and not through the speakers to be recorded through the microphone.  I want there to be no external sound except me talking into my microphone.  I also want to be able to HEAR the audio of the game through my headphones (and if possible, myself as well, through a monitor maybe?)
    Problems I have run into so far:
    -Haven't gotten it to pick up in game audio at all while using headphone.  Can't figure this out
         -Downloaded soundflower, have the output as soundflower.  Not picking up anything, will put all my sound and midi settings at the end.
    -When I do record through my microphone, it is only picking up a single channel (left earpiece only, no right channel)
         -I have figured out it is NOT the equipment, I use Pro Tools and am able to pick up both channels with my mic, recorded a few tests. It's settings and I can't      figure it out
    -Trying not to run 16 million programs while running the game, will cause lag.
    Summed up:
    Trying to record:
    -Audio from gameplay of any game I am playing through alternative route of speakers (do NOT want to record game audio through speakers, internally)
    -Record voice through Avid MBox Mini and MXL 909 microphone.
    -Record screen gameplay through Screenium
    I followed a guide that told me to achieve "stereo mix'' I need to download soundflower and follow "X" steps.  That is done and these are my current settings:
    Audio Midi Setup - Stereo Mix custom Aggregate Device, Soundflower (2ch) selected, Avid Mbox Mini selected, Soundflower Output #1 has 2 channels (1-2), using Avid MBox mini for "Input" in order to record.  Using Soundflower AND Avid MBox mini as "Output" in order to hear the sounds and replay game sounds (could be the problem? Maybe?)
    Sound Settings - Output Stereo Mix (custom channel)  Input Avid MBox Mini (recording)
    I'm hoping this isn't too hard to understand.. I'm VERY bad at explaining information regarding computers.. It's hard becuase I don't understand it.  I can clarify anything that I am able to, so any help on finding certain things would be greatly appreciated.
    My computer: Macbook Pro MAC OS X Lion (11G63) 10.7.5  2.4 GHz Intel Core i7 4GB 13333 MGz DDR3  (If any of this is imporant)

    Hey guys,
    I tried to do some research and it looks like you need to have an external device and its drivers, such as an external microphone, installed on the computer to record audio that can be saved as a sound file. Another Suggestion is to try an auxiliary spliter for your headphones and external speakers?
    What software are you using to record your game?
    If anyone knows anything different, please let me know.

  • My solution for No Audio -- Conexant drivers and Windows 7 x64

    My son and I have the L2000 laptop that came with 32 bit XP and used the Conexant chipset for Audio. I had been using an SB Audigy PCMCIA card so I am not sure when Audio was really lost; however, he noticed it when I upgraded his PC. I scoured various forums looking for 64 bit  Windows 7 drivers for Conexant audio but to no avail. Microsoft and Conexant both said that HP should supply the drivers. By the way HP, the Conexant website says that they do not supply drivers even though they make the chipsets "at the request of the OEM's." Another post said that HP was not going to supply these drivers for Windows 7. The solution from HP for my model and Windows 7 was the "HP Software Advisor" which was 67MB and totaly useless. It appears that this is a very common problem. Anyway, here is what you do:
    First you need 2 files which ironically enough come from HP, they are SP35558.exe and SP35558.cva They contain the Conexant drivers for Vista x64. (I subsequently have found the 32 bit drivers and the procedure should be very similar except the files are SP34789.exe and SP34789.cva). Type the following into your browser address bar ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/ About half way down you will find the sub-directory with these files. Just right click each one and save to your desktop.
    Double click SP35558.cva and tell Windows to use Notepad to open it. Scroll about half way down to "[Operating Systems]" and after "WV64UL=OEM" insert:
    W764HB=OEM
    W764HP=OEM
    W764PR=OEM
    W764UL=OEM
    ( For 32 bit systems use W732HB=OEM, etc.)
    I next went up about 10 lines to "[System information]" and added
    SysId3=0x3091
    SysName3=HP Pavilion ze2000 series
    SysId4=0x3096
    SysName4=Compaq presario M2000 series

    SysName7=Compaq Presario M2000 series
    SysId8=0x3093

    I got this information from another cva file on my PC at C;/swsetup/ This is the directory where HP updates default to.
    After modding the cva file, I saved it to C;/swsetup/sp35558/
    I then executed the SP35558.exe file. It did not work the first time -- I missed a line in my cva file. However, I then manually installed the Conexant drivers as follows and voila I had sound, nice crisp clear sound.
    Under Device Manager, right click "Multimedia Audio Device" under "Other" and choose "Update Driver" Then" Browse your PC" and "Choose from a list". Select "Sound, audio and game controllers", then Conexant, then "Have Disk" . Browse to C:/swsetup/sp35558/ and open "cp6308Ba.inf" (64bit remember). Now choose "OK" and ignore any warnings about incompatibility, WHQL, etc. Give it plenty of time, you might think you are in a loop, but you are not. Congratulations, you are done.

    I thought that I would recompile my answer and then mark this thread as solved since it was not a post about a problem but rather how I solved a very common problem that might be of benefit to others.

    The use of the cva file is to streamline the driver install and it is kind of cool if it works. If you cannot find it or you are not successful the first time or you do not want to bother with modding anything, do not worry, the manual install will work for sure.
    Run sp35558.exe to extract everything and let it strike out. Then go to Device Manager and update the driver manually as follows:
    Under Device Manager, right click "Multimedia Audio Device" under "Other" and choose "Update Driver" Then "Browse your PC" and "Choose from a list". • Solution for: no audio in time line - conforming issues - unspecified error occurred

    these are all the same issue and i have the solution for it.
    Adobe has once again let down the non professional user but ignoring this bug. They have also deleted alot of my other posts on the adobe forums.. perhaps so you cannot receive help from me?? who freakin knows..
    b Problem:
    you import your footage and there is no audio in the time line. you see the audio clip there but no information in it. some people say its because of MPEG format but MPEG files works fine in Windows Movie Maker, Ulead, Pinnacle, Sony Vegas.. etc...
    let it be known that its an Adobe Premiere issue.
    b Solution:
    b step 1:
    close adobe premiere
    b step 2:
    open My Computer and go to tools at the top. From the drop down menu go to folder options. In folder options click the view tab. In the advanced settings section where it says 'Hidden files and folders' make sure 'show hidden files and folders' is selected.
    b step 3:
    open My computer and go to c:\ drive > Documents and settings. Now click into your user name (NOT 'All users') in my case its 'proGamer'. Now click into 'Application Data' > 'Adobe' > 'common' > 'Media Cache Files'.
    b step 4:
    in this folder find the files you were just trying to import by searching the name. in my case its file: 20081217030338. you will now see 3 different file types with the same file name you were importing: CFA, PEK, MPGINDEX. delete them all!
    b step 5:
    go back and open adobe premiere, open up your project again and it will automatically recreate those files you just deleted. hopefully correctly.
    b NOTE:
    If this hasn't worked then open your adobe premiere project, clear all trace of the files with no audio and start again from step 1. then after step 5 just import the files back into your project.
    This has proved to work with every file i've imported that had the audio not conformed.
    b your second option:
    simply play your clip in WMV or VLC or what ever player you use and record the audio in real time in stereo by using some music editing like cubase or logic audio. you can also use something more friendly like 'recordpad' found here: http://www.nch.com.au/recordpad/screenshots.html now you can buy it from these guys or get it how ever else you like
    lemme know how u go

    dmd,
    I've read plenty of places that they know about the bug and are going to fix it. Will from Adobe said so in a few older posts. It's also listed as an issue in the 4.0.1 readme.
    I agree that this is the most screwed up Adobe release ever but I doubt they're deleting your posts to hide it. Never know though.....
    "Adobe has once again let down the non professional user but ignoring this bug" I actually wish Adobe would forget the consumers and make Premiere Pro more friendly to professionals. Dozens of multimillion dollar movies have been edited with Avid and Final Cut over the past few years. Adobe doesn't put forth any effort make Premiere a pro application. Because they pander to the consumers and prosumers they end up messing up the product for everybody.
    Premiere Elements is for consumers, Premiere Pro should be for the 'Pros'

  • Hd Audio Through Hdmi Satellite L755-S5246

    Hello,
    I'm wondering if there is a way of getting full HD audio from The HDMI port on my Satellite L755-S5246. I have Gone through the sound options and tried to configure it to Surround Sound, But the only option is stereo. Is there a way to change this? According to device manger I have The CONEXANT audio driver for the speakers that are in the laptop and it is up to date. I tried to install the NVIDIA Audio driver, Because To my understanding it controls audio through the hdmi but When I tried to Install it comes up with an error message saying it cannot locate the drivers to install. Leaving me to believe that the NVIDIA driver isn't supported in my model. When I have My laptop connected to my television, and look at the sound properties, It says it's using the Intel Display Audio Driver for sound. And when I try to configure it under the sound properties on my laptop it's still doesn't list any other option other than stereo.
    Question: is there a way getting Hd audio out Through the hdmi connection, Mainly Dolby 5.1 surround sound?
    Relevant Information:
    Laptop model: Satellite L755-S5246
    Operating System: Windows 7 Sp1
    Audio Driver : (Laptop) CONEXANT Smart-audio Hd
                          (HDMI) INTEL Display Audio Driver

    I can't test this because I don't have your sound card or your TV. But, I think you're playing with the wrong device. And, I apologize in advance if you've already done this. But, you haven't made clear what you've already done on the TV side of things.
    With your laptop and your TV both turned on, with the HDMI cable connecting them, select as its video input the correct HDMI port that you've plugged the HDMI cable into on the TV, you then need to use your TV remote control to enter the TV's Menu, then select 'Audio Menu', use the up down arrows and select 'SRS TruSurround HD', turn it 'On'. If you want to try just audio (that is listen to mp3 files with no video) again, enter the 'Audio Menu', select 'Audio Only', turn this feature 'On', when you want to watch video turn off 'Audio Only'.
    You can see the instructions for this staring on page 26 (Adobe Reader page 28) or your TV's user's guide. But, if you have already done all of the above, then sound coming out of your laptop, through the HDMI into your TV, is as good as it's going to get.
    You have a Conexant Sound card & a Intel Video/Display card in your laptop. You have no nVidia devices at all, so no nVidia driver will ever load on your laptop. Because you have a Intel Video/Display card, and the HDMI port is mainly for watching DVDs, etc, on an external TV/monitor, the display card handles the HDMI audio as well.
    Let us know what happens. Good luck.

  • Hp dv9260nr no audio through HDMI

    I have had no audio through my HDMI for at least a year now with no help from any internet search sources or HP tech support. When I first bought my notebook, everything worked fine about about a year ago  sound through HDMI stopped working. I set the sound output to SPDIF as I always did in the past. I have updated my Nvidia vidio drivers and can't find any archived older drivers to roll back to. The current driver I have is dated 01/30/09. It is the Nvidia Geforce Go 7600. I also recently updated my notebook with a clean install of Widows 7 32 bit Ultimate from Vista 64 bit Ultimate. I did this not knowing that there weren't any HP drivers that support Windows 7 for my notebook but none the less i like working with 7 much better. Any one else with this problem and maybe a solution? Thanks!

    Hi,
    Uninstall your current Nvidia graphic driver from system.
    Resource:
    Uninstalling Software in Windows 7
    Uninstall or change a program in Windows 7
    Download and install old Vista driver:
    NVIDIA GeForce Series Video Driver here
    I've got confirmations from users with the same model that this driver solved this problem.

  • New Retina Macbook Pro...no audio through HDMI

    I ordered the Amazon HDMI cable (http://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-High-Speed-HDMI-Cable-Meters/dp/B003L1ZYYM/re f=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1365112977&sr=8-1&keywords=hdmi) which supports Video, Audio, 3D, etc. I have my HDTV hooked up as a second display right now but the audio is not transferring to my TV. There is also no option to change my output device. Do I need to mirror my Macbook to my TV in order for audio to transfer?

    Not sure how to edit, but I just tried mirroring my rMBP to the TV and there is still no option to send the audio through the TV...

  • MBP 13 (mid-late 2010) still won't play audio through HDMI

    I would like to connect the MBP 13" I bought in 12/2010 to my HP w2408h 24" monitor through HDMI, both audio and video. I bought a Moshi mini-DP to HDMI adaptor, and hooked everything up like I was supposed to.
    When I go to System Preferences > Sound to try to select HDMI as the audio out, it tells me that "The selected device has no output controls." Mind you, I've tried three different HDMI cables, including the Vizio cable I just bought (with gold-plated connectors, natch!). Furthermore, when I try to run audio from the MBP's headphone jack to the monitor's audio in port, there's nothing there!
    FWIW I'm running 10.6.6, and didn't try this set up before I upgraded from 10.6.5
    What to do? Please advise.

    Mind the bump, but I'm having this exact same problem and nothing I try is helping.
    I have a mid-2010 MBP, so I know it supports audio. The video works just fine, but when I open up the sound and change the output setting to my tv, it also says, "The selected device has no output controls." But I KNOW that the cable and my laptop work with the audio, because I can play the sound effects under the sound preferences through my tv speakers, but nothing else. Which is REALLY confusing. There's some static coming from my tv speakers, but that's it.
    If it matters I'm running 10.8.2.
    Help please, and thanks in advance!
    Edit... So apparently iTunes works just fine as well. WHY can't I play anything from Chrome? Ugh.

  • No audio through HDMI cable when listening to audio tracks but ok with vids

    Please Help!!
    Ok I hooked up my HP to my Samsung 1080p hdtv through an HDMI cable. My computer displays fine on the TV, the visualizer in ITunes shows just fine, but the audio only comes out of the speakers on my laptop when playing a regular music track. When it plays one of the bonus music videos on the same album, audio and video both play. When I play the songs in any other interface, ie windows media player and HP quick play, audio tracks play fine through HDMI. So this has to be something with ITunes. Anyone know what the problem is?
    Thanks!

    Wouldn't you know it, just figured it out. You have to make sure that itunes is not loaded before hooking up the HDMI cable. So,
    turn off itunes,
    hook up the HDMI cable,
    (go to sound [control panel] and make sure that HDMI has the checkmark next to it),
    load itunes,
    enjoy.

  • App for .avi files through HDMI?

    Hi,
    I cannot get the sound to transmit through the MoviePlayer app on my iPad to my TV (using HDMI). Sound from iTunes and Video app works fine, it's just the Movie player app which is not cooperating. Does anyone know how to either fix this or an app which can play .avi files WITH sound through HDMI to the TV???

    The remote computer may need to have the IMAQ drivers installed on it.

  • Need a clever solution for removing audio from the video gaps...

    Here's a tiny section of my timeline:
    I want to delete all the audio in the areas where there's no video so that it looks like this:
    I was planning on just doing it manually one at a time, but my timeline is 3 hours long and there's over 500 gaps... that would take a very long time. So I was hoping somebody would have better method... sort of like a ripple delete all that would ignore audio. Everything is unlinked.
    -Pete

    Select video and move it up onto color matte.
    Let go
    Pick it up again and move it to track 3
    Dont let go, hold shift and move audio to track 2
    Deselect
    Select color matte and left over audio: ripple delete.

  • Looking solution for clipped audio

    I edited a total of 20 minutes video clips from Canon TX1 with three Macs. As I edited and played back finished project on 24" iMac 3.06 GHz Core 2 Duo 2 2GB memory and 1T HDD with 670 GB available, the movie clip audio disappeared at about 15 minutes. The back ground music audio stayed on. The same movie files, when edited with 11' MBA, 1.4 GHz Core 2 Duo 4GB memory and 128 FS, the movie clip audio disappeared at around 2 minutes. When the same movie files edited with 27" iMac Core i5 8GB memory and 840GB available HDD memory, with iMovie 9 did not lose any audio. The problem seems to be unique to iMovie 11. Am I only one experiencing this? Appreciate your suggestion.

    More information. iMovie 9 in Core 2 Duo MBP with 4 GB memory and only 6 MB HDD memory left, plays the edited same video clips without any problem. Is there any way revert iMovie 11 to iMovie 9?

  • No audio through hdmi

    Hi everybody,
    I have a (little) problem with my new MacBook Air 2014 (13 inch.) running on 10.9.4 : when I connect it to any HDMI device (Philips monitor or Sony TV through Marantz amplifier) through a mini DP-HDMI adapter, I can't set audio output to HDMI because this option does not exist... However, I have video signal.
    I've tried lots of "solutions", but nothing is working :
         - Shutting down, restarting, sleeping with and without the cable connected
         - Change HDMI cable
         - Reset PRAM
    Finally, I think the problem come from the Macbook because I have an other laptop (a Thinkpad with a mini displayport, with Ubuntu 14.04) and the video and sound are working normally.
    Anybody know how to resolve that ?
    Thanks
    PS : Sorry for my English, I'm French and I don't have to talk or to write in your language often.

    Thank you for your answer, mornnen.
    Yes, I viewed these steps, but I can't select an other output when the display is connected : I have only one choice : "Integrated speakers" (and Airplay, but it's not that) :

    Hi Sez,
    Try using Recovery Manager to reinstall your AMD Graphics Driver package as this will also reinstall the AMD HDMI Audio driver- the procedure for using recovery manager to reinstall Software and Drivers is detailed in the relevant document on the link below.
    Recovery Manager - Windows 8.
    Recovery Manager - Windows 7
    Recovery Manager - Windows Vista
    After the reinstallation has completed, restart the notebook.
